Review 29th Apartment - St Kilda

Racheal Wellman
What a sick venue! DJs are absolute killer no matter who is playing! Wednesday and Sunday nights are the best here, with backpackers and hospo crew showing the crowd how to party! Giant jenga is a great activity, especially to start the night with a group. The giant connect 4 is a great option for you and a friend to play, or even playing teams or setting a comp style game makes the night more fun to be had! Drinks are priced so well that your bank will not be mad at your spending the day after Massive spirit range, fizzers on tap and a great selection of bottled beers to keep you going The private room is a great option for your event planning also, with the option to connect your own tracks to a Bluetooth speaker getting you and your mates in the right vibe you need! If you head down on a Wednesday they have $1 hotdogs and $5 drinks til midnight; an absolute bargain you will not wanna miss! Whether you’re wanting chill vibes in the front room or after some banging tunes to dance the night away, this place is surely not one you’ll wanna skip!

A place where everyone ends up to have a fantastic night, don't worry about the phallic fish tank, but do try to insta a bath. Open until 3am, 29th apartment is a perpetual house party - games, music, cigarettes and drinks by the picket fence, or whimsical whispers in the library. A must visit.

Honestly wish I could give 0 stars. The bartenders last night were absolutely hopeless, forgot our drinks, gave us apple juice with vodka, and then orange juice with vodka even though we asked for pineapple juice both times. When making the cocktails they were sloppy and spilt half the alcohol on the bench instead of in our drinks, half of my Bloody Mary was spilt onto the floor and then topped up with tomato juice and ice, we were then dismissed and given attitude when we asked for a bit more vodka. My friends red wine glass had bits of food stuck to it. Don’t recommend

Bartender with tattoos and cool shaved head with patterns was great. Super welcoming and sick decor as well. A great post-hospo place to go for a drink. Thanks guys :)
Valentina Angeloni
We had so much fun here playing gigantic Jenga and Connect 4 while sipping Sangria. The price was very convenient ($20 for a jar). The place is so peculiar! I liked the menu; it was so original (a newspaper)!!! Friendly stuff and cozy atmosphere!!!
Yvonne Aralar
Conveniently located and interesting place! Loved all the little design details that made my visit a memorable experience. The seat swings with the giant Jenga and multi-player gaming console area at the front was our favourite spot to hang out with friends. Excellent selection of drinks and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
Alana Foster
An awesome vibe throughout the night All staff are professional, even when problem customers come their way Great priced drinks, service is quick and responsive, awesome amount of respect for these people
Graham Richards
Great cocktails from a new bartender from Brisbane. Had some great skills and made for an enjoyable night.
Claire Jeraldinne
Just I’m giving one star because I feel really disappointed at the moment.. we were here with my friend as every Wednesday and for fist time a girl from the kitchen (blonde hair and angry face) made us feel really bad. she humiliated us for a piece of free pizza ... She almost took the pizza from my mouth because we didn’t have the “bracelet” (when we paid that). Anyway this is not correct to try regular clients like that... this place is really good on Wednesday so the staff should be kind with the people... We just recommend to the manager change a little bit the staff .. (Finally I have to say a guard Oliver is so so kind )
Michael Affleck
Amazing place, staff are attentive and keep on smiling when busy!
Blake Hall
These guys are badass. This is the kind of place you can get a great beer, cocktail or jagerbomb whilst listening to awesome tunes while the staff work their asses off. A St Kilda staple.
Denis Khassapov
Good music and great bbq chicken wings! The whole set up is fun, good vibes and there's giant jenga!
Jamie Vale
Awesome staff and venue, vibes are always amazing at this place :)
Christina Thomas
Terrible. Got drinks... glasses were really dirty. Got 'Food to share' ... popcorn chicken was food for ants! Pizza in a fry pan was good.
Nick Frost
The staff here kick ass. I just gave them $50 for 2 beers and walked off, it was busy as hell, but they tracked me down to give me the change! That is class
Ray Treacy
Again as comment seems to have been deleted, paid entry to get into a venue that was cleary too hot, air con was broken and couldn't bare to be in there longer than 10 mins, left and went straight home. Last time I'll be headed to 29th apartment.
Fohn Jergus
Absolutely marvelous. The homosexual manager by the name of Jordan was just delightful and bubbly and super helpful. Thanks Jordy call me xoxo ;)
Mur Eser
Amazing energy and drinks thanks ;) and the staff are very friendly
Crystal Arons
Such a fabulous place to hang out and drink and dance!! Would definitely recommend this place for anyone travelling to Melbourne! :)
Marama Hohepa
Amazing service and even better drinks. Will be coming back with a crowd!
Bill David
Hadn't long arrived in St Kilda and had a great first night out here last Saturday! Staff were most excellent, as was the music later on. Loved the place!
Greg Poliwodzinski
Love this place! Great place for a drink and a boogie!
Brian Mounsey
Have been there on 4 occasions. Fantastic venue.

Stumble across this place and decided to try the menu. Saw the chips which was a big nice serve and went for 2 different pizza.

Staff were very attentive and helpful and accommodated with all our needs .

The Tap Apple cider was crisp ($8.5)
Pizza serving was very large . Need a bit more spices on both.
David Tadros
On the first impression, the place was an interesting setup but the wings and pizza were superb! I tried all the wings flavors and my favorite was Chipotle!
Jeff
Disinterested barman did not even bother to look up from what he was doing(moving things from one container to another) when a mate and I stopped in for a drink. Drinks menu indicated by a jerk of the head. The place was cold with a try-hard vibe and, not wanting to disturb the barman, we walked out without saying a word.
Lucien Hronova
Went with a group of friends. This is a great place to go to celebrate and eat yummy pizzas. Every one of us loved it there. Highly recommend espresso martini and game of Giant Genga. Thank you for the service.
Andy Travers
Had the best time ever with a few friends. Played a bit of giant genger where the looser bought the round of drinks. Maybe should not of had too many games in the end (lol), but who cares we had the best night. Man how good are the pizzas. Staff were really friendly which made it that much more enjoyable. Definitely will go back. Highly recommend 29thapartment. Five stars from me :)
Shaista Yaseen
great ambience. loved the pizza (ordered the vegetarian). it was a bit dark in one of the booths, but the brought across some candles to brighten it up. will defs be back for a chilled night out
Sal
Was here for my sisters bday last night (Good Friday) and holy moly the service on jordon was unreal. I’m not sure why the place only had one man working behind the bar on a public holiday but jordon really handled himself well!
The business rly has got a star with this dudey
Kmichelle7373
I love this place! Staffs are very friendly and good at service. Used to go for weekend drinking with friends. Loved fried chicken in sauce.
Dine And Dash
Awesome bar in Fitzroy Street. This bar definitely has the best interior, really awesome ideas like the bed in the middle of the venue! I came here with a few mates and we had the wings, they tasted great. I love the Jenga! We always play. I recommend coming here on a Weekend night, it's usually quite busy and really close to more bars down Acland and Fitzroy Street.
Good Food Good Mood
I was invited to the winter menu launch at 29th apartment last night which I unfortunately couldn’t make it but it made me remember I hadn’t posted my review from my visit just before going to Europe 7 weeks ago. A friend and I came for pizza and her being vegetarian we opted to share a buffala on a Saturday afternoon which was very tasty with rather a thin crispy base.
It’s quite an eclectic little spot, very St Kilda read quirky and it’s relaxed apartment style setting as the name suggests provides not only a novel atmosphere but also plenty of games should you wish to entertain yourself (we did not on this occasion but others certainly were!). A great spot to pop into for a drink if you are eating dinner along the street. It’s fun, unpretentious and a little bit different oh and I hear they now have mulled wine!
Cocktail Life
What a great place to stumble into (literally stumbled into after an eary cheeky drink sesh with my girls on a Sunday arvo)
The interior is quirky, sporting all the basics of... yep you guessed it.. an apartment! I thoroughly enjoyed making a lot of unneccessary noise playing jenga (because I always seem to pull out the worst beam!) And also napping on the sexy silk lined bed (yep.. theres a sexy bed). BUT the biggest highlight was finding a treat in the fish tank ... you'll just have to go to see it for yourself!

Great spots to chill with good friends.

Have I mentioned the $20 cocktail jugs? Proper cocktails! the bar staff know what theyre doing!

I suggest to check it out.
3 overall
4 on sunday arvo if you dont like crowds and just want to chill
Mobwife
Went here for a birthday and vibe and atmosphere was great (buzzing) but food was very average. Great if you want to have a drink up and celebrate with friends

29th apartment provides the best of both worlds; a comfy, quirky venue, with friendly staff who are knowledgeable on their product. Awesome cocktails, and food. Also can be a pumping nightclub, with a great vibe and brilliant DJs. Would highly recommend popping down to check it out. Wednesdays are a must, $1 pizzas and $5 basic drinks
Tamara Archibald
Food is Delicious (Make sure to check out the new Pizzas!), Cocktails are my absolute favourite. Really good party vibe on Wednesday nights ($1 Pizzas are a must!!) & the weekend!
Caroline Beaney
Finally I got to try 29th Apartment. It is an American themed cocktail bar where you can also play Connect 4 and Giant Jenga.

I got their $8 special Vegie Burger. I was a bit disappointed that unlike the description there was no vegetarian pattie. I was looking forward to trying that. They must have given me a salad burger instead since there was no pattie, just lettuce, mushroom, cheese and what looked to be fake bacon. It was not very filling.

My cocktail was okay but I have had better. The presentation of the cocktail was lovely though. Sangria was very nice!

29th Apartment was ok but had been hyped up a bit too much for me to be wowed. It would definitely be the place I would go to if I felt like playing giant jenga.

Walking past here on a Friday evening and noticed a sign out front "$10 Espresso Martinis till 8pm". It was 7:52 so we strolled in thinking we'd grab a cheeky one before the end of happy hour. Bar staff were onto us and took on a slow motion type persona for the next couple of minutes. We eventually ordered and the bartender finally delivered the drinks. "That'll be $40". Say what? It was 8:01. After questioning him and being about to walk out he mumbled something under his breath and finally gave it to us for the advertised $10 each. It was putrid anyway so we needn't bother. Never going back here again and wouldn't recommend to anyone... #0/5

The atmosphere and decor is so eclectic that it sets it apart from other bars. We had a groupon for all you can eat wings, great deal, the spicy wings in particular were great. The let down is the cleanliness and quality. The ends of our wings were stone cold and our booth was filthy - food on seat and sticky spills on our table. Need to check this place out at least once though.
Crazy Food Lady
This place is AMAZING!! Was there on Wednesday night and the place was jumping. Drinks promos, someone live on the drums as well great djs!! Danced until the lights came up!! Will be back 👍

There's not that many drinking outlets I'd rate around these neck of the woods, but 29th Apartment's alright. It houses a pretty chilled ambience, with only the giant Jenga being the main periodic antagonist of the night.
Various furnishings contribute to the overarching theme, and smartly doubling as additional seating.
The milk crates are my favourite, so simple it's stupid.
So, grab a cocktail and take your eyes on a visual tour.
Kanchana Perera
Great bar to chill out in. Like its name, the place is set up like an apartment inclusive of bed and bath and dated furniture. There is an old 50's TV drawn on the wall with projections of Audrey Hepburn movies. Board games hidden in the fridge if you feel like playing guess who or connect four and random thunder from giant stacker collapses the norm. Drinks and food are pretty average but this is one of those places you can spend hours chilling on your own or with friends.
SLouise
A great little place for cheap eats, and very novel atmosphere. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and sweet potato chips with garlic aoli to share and it was more than enough! The pizza was tasty and the sweet potato chips were the biggest I've ever seen! Really good. It was nice and quiet going at 6pm. Would definitely go back again.

Cool place but im not gonna say the same thing for the guy at the bar who serves drinks. I wasnt sure what ill get and was asking my friend like what are you gonna get and he suddenly turned back to him and said she can decide now - what can i get you with a shitty face. That wasnt nice - his behavior towards me. Anyways we got some beers and played that massive jenga. It was so much fun - we had a really good time.
Christopher Lee
Very average service. Not to mention if you want a drink the same day I wouldn't recommend going during the week as the staff are poorly managed.
Vinny
We did the unlimited wings coupon for $20 for 2 people and it was worth it. Wings were really saucey. Only had the one buffalo flavour but the wings were pretty crispy and most was nice inside. The other menu items were not bad either alot of American type stuff like burgers and cheese bites from what i saw. It's worth a peak if you've got nowhere else planned
LUCY FOSTER
awesome place, great vibe! service is excellent! we loved the all you can eat wings and the espresso martinis! will defo be back to play giant jenga and to see the new baby fish again. this place would be great for a big party or function
Beau James
Really good place for quiet drinks with friends that eventually lead to louder drinks with more friends.

Games to play, amazing cocktails to drink and the staff are pretty friendly. I highly recommend this place for people new to St Kilda / Melbourne and want to see just an example of what's on offer. Really nice to be able to wander down to the beach later at night to relax after a night out here.

Very good place to eat and spend time with friends! Very nice home atmosphere. During cold months beautiful fireplaces with will make you warmth :) good food and friendly service :)

I bought a Scoopon voucher for all you can eat buffalo wings + drinks for two. Apparently we were too full after the first dish and couldn't go for another one so the scoopon was not too helpful obviously. However the chicken tasted very nicely and the place looked very interesting with funky/classic furniture. The staff was okay but they could be a little bit more enthusiastic.

The crust was superb and all four gourmet toppings were creative, used the best ingredients and delicious. The wine was also surprising good. Definitely not from the bottom of the barrel either. We ordered both red and white variety and really enjoyed sipping it slowly (*cough*).

This was by far the most interesting place we came across on our recent trip to Aussie land. We decided to go to St Kilda for an evening out. We bar hopping, but nothing seemed interesting enough to stick with until we stumbled upon this place. Honestly I'm really surprised about the low Zomato rating, because I loved the place!
Being an architect, I was really impressed with the interiors and the theme of this place. The setting is just like an urban apartment and the elements they have used are sometimes not very subtle, but still very interesting.
Plus they had board games! The giant Jenga was an instant hit.
This would be a regular hang out spot for me if I were living around Melbourne!

On our second last night in Melbourne, being the weekend we were looking for some nice spots to hit along St. Kilda. We started bar hopping for a bit till we got here. This place was something very different than the rest. By the end of the night, it was also the most crowded place in the area.

A typical New York apartment setting, with couches, dining tables, and even a bathtub. It was something we hadn’t seen before, and the moment we walked past it, it gave off an amazing vibe which neither of the other places along St. Kilda managed to do for us. Once we got here, we forgot about the hopping and ended up spending the entire evening here. They have many ways to keep you engrossed. The pick of them all was the Giant Jenga, which turned out to be way too much fun to stop playing.

Having said all of that, we experienced a great setting with a good crowd and decently priced drinks! I would so love to come back to this place if I ever had a chance!
Kimmy_desu
Liked the all-you-can-eat wings. The sauce was a little too much for us at the start so for the second plate we asked if we could have bbq sauce and they said although in the voucher we could only have buffalo wings they can make the bbq sauce wings for us. That was quite nice of them and having celery sticks to go along with all that meat was good too.

Buffalo Wings. Yummy and good value!

Cool and quirky! What an exciting and unique café on Fitzroy St! Great place to take out of towners! This is a large spacious café with several beguiling sections. You can sit by the entrance and play board games while enjoying gourmet pizza and fine coffee, sit around the old barbeque that doubles for a table or even go out to the back section to enter a world of fun and all things quirky.

29th Apartment feels exactly well… like an apartment. Chilled, relaxed, homely. Easy to get a drink and certainly not pretentious. Great to catch up with your friends.
La Ola Es Mia Cocina.
One of Melbourne's best cheap eats.. Been awhile since I have been here and like the last time I must say you truly doing an outstanding job on food, price and service.
The waitress was very pleasant how truly gave exceptional customer service.
I used a LivingSocial voucher for the all you can eat buffalo wings with the blu cheese sauce and I must say are truly some of the best wings I have ever had.
It also came with 2 drinks for me and my friend which made it an good deal into a great deal.
Kudos to you all and look forward to coming back.

Sick concept for a bar & great crew. I had my 30th there last weekend and I had such an awesome time. I was given a free birthday shot cake and they reserved me a giant jenga game. The bar is wicked too. So different to many other bars. It felt like I was having an epic house party at my apartment. My friends and I partied pretty hard and the crew there were nothing but accommodating. The staff there made my night awesome. Cheers to a great bar and a fantastic crew.
Traceyrabbit26
Awesome atmosphere and great place to grab a bite to eat. I loved the atmosphere at 29th apartment, the decor is funky with lots of couches and booths to hang out in. I went in with a group of friends for lunch and the food is fantastic, the chicken burger was to die for. The staff were really friendly and attentive. We spent the rest of the afternoon drinking in the sun, it was a great afternoon in my new favorite place to hang out.
Patrickg
Friendly atmosphere - wicked burgers!. Visited 29th apartment for a quick bite. Food was great and the quirky furniture kept us looking round for ages. Had the smokey burger and it was massive (and reasonably priced). Great place for a quick, decent meal.
Anitacoc
WORST service ever.. Worst service.45 minute wait for wings. All you can eat offer- LIE. Food.. was okay but it might have been because we were quite hungry.

We came here with an 'all-you-can-eat buffalo wings for up to 4 people' offer off groupon/scoopon.
Firstly this was a lie. We were only able to get one plate of buffalo wings, and we waited 45 minutes for that ONE single plate of wings to share between three very very hungry people. We we asked how long our wings would be after a reasonable amount of waiting time, we were told rudely by staff that they were busy and the wings were on the way. We ordered and paid for way too many drinks because of our wait. and needless to say we left quite hungry.

Would not return. Do not recommend this place.

-----18 Jan, 2015-----

Terrible, will not return. We came in with an all-you-can-eat buffalo wing scoopon, thinking that it was great value.
Took ages to get a table, took an additional 45 mins for our one and only plate of buffalo wings. When we asked for more wings we were rudely told by staff that they were "too busy" to give us another plate. Needless to say we were less than impressed, and will definately not be returning for another meal regardless of how good of a deal we may find online.
Paulreynold111
Very rude customer service - avoid at all costs!. I went on Christmas Day (which happens to be my birthday) during the evening for a meal with my girlfriend. The street was almost deserted and we didn't notice the bouncer as we approached. Because it is a bar/restaurant they also have a bouncer. I am in my 40's and my girlfriend in her mid twenties. I don't have a lot of hair so it is not as if I look like I am 20 years old. When we approached, my girlfriend and I were walking hand in hand. The bouncer stopped as at the door and insisted my girlfriend produce her ID otherwise she wouldn't be allowed entry. I made comment to the barmen that we were after something to eat and he was all but accussing me of being a peadophile. In reply he just smirked and insisted we were not getting in unless she produced her ID. If you look at the other reviews you will see their is a massive problem with customer service in this establishment. Avoid at all costs unless you want your evening ruined.
Bevfulton1
Yumdiddlyumptious. We had a voucher for wings. What can we say YUM, YUM, YUM.
Can't go wrong with 29th Apartment.
R.jackson1421
Really friendly staff and great wings!. Went here on a scoopon and we were treated like regular customers! really friendly staff and great wings. we only had the buffalo wings, but the cheese sauce was really amazing and the serving portion was huge. we couldn't even get through one bucket with two people! come here on an empty stomach and you will come out fully satisfied with a great meal.
Douglas Brook
Great and relaxed. Went here last night. Great relaxed atmosphere - like being in my lounge room relaxing but with great vibe. Love the decor - looks like a set from a show like sienfield with different bits of apartments and exteriors too. Plenty of veggo options for me. Hilarious sci fi Logans Run on Screen to watch and games to play. Totally loved this place.
T
Good. All you can eat buffalo wings and a beer. Relaxed atmosphere + massive jenga pieces + great service. Will be returning
Clancy
Fantastic atmosphere, great food that was generous in size without being over priced. Staff were very helpful and friendly!
Trevor
Great atmosphere with awesome chicken wings. Great price on their products. Great place to chill out with friends

AWESOME BAR!!. I went to 29th on the weekend and had a blast such a creative and fun venue with lots of quirky things to look at in particular i love the TV on the wall which plays old school movies and giant Jenga which is always fun to play after having a couple of drinks.
I ordered a espresso martini from one of the waitresses who was bubbly and gave service with a smile which doesn't seem to happen much anymore she told me she would bring my drink over,
hands down best espresso martini i have had in a while and to top it off the girl kept coming to our table getting all our drink orders so we didn't have to make a trip to the bar.
music was also funky and put us all in a good mood,
i will be defiantly coming back and recommend anyone going to st kilda to check it out and try there espresso martinis!
Shawna.watkins83
A Must Visit. This place serves the best buffalo wings ever! (super saucy and huge serving). The staff are friendly and fun and always around to top up your drink.
The venue itself is creatively fitted out... they even have a Giant Jenga (like normal Jenga but the blocks are the size of bricks).
Pk_robertson
29TH CREW ARE AWESOME!!!!!. Thank you to the 29th crew, I had the best birthday thus far.....the new crew they have down there are very fun, they made us feel like it was literally our little home away from home, and once your a regular they treat you like gold (and a drink or two on the sly ;) thanks guys). Ive been to 29th a few times a while ago and now it will be my new local hangout once more, they have stepped it up again and have the raddest cocktails and banging food deals, well done guys you have recaptured what made the place iconic, and hands down the best place to experience true local st kilda nostalgic life....
D
Food portion was huge. Whilst I thought $18 for a chicken burger was a bit dear, it was tasty and had pretty much a whole chicken breast in it, along with mushrooms, veggies, sauce and heaps of spices. Very tasty. The lounges inside do smell a bit funky, however!
Mmshel
Fun night. The staff were friendly and hospitable, and the place is very relaxed and informal. I was there on a Sunday recently and it was absolutely packed, everyone dancing. The music was amazing.
Yumi
The bartender with red hair needs an attitude adjustment. Very rude girl. Won't be back.
Caitie Watson
Really slow service, took two hours for some nachos that take two minutes to microwave with side dishes out of a can. Would not recommend this place. Even after complaining about waiting, nothing was done.
Professional_tourist
Perfect for hanging out with friends.. I met a friend of mine here after they finished work for a few drinks and a catch up. We sat on the toadstools at the front but later moved in to the comfy couches when it got chilly. Perfect for hanging out and shooting the breeze with your friends. A very comfortable and cosy bar with games like MEGA JENGA to get you in the competitive vibe. Prices ok for the area. Service a bit mixed. One bartender was really polite and then the next round of drinks were basically thrown at us. No need for this and no excuses really as the bar wasnt full. Perhaps that bartender in particular was having an off day so I wouldnt avoid the place altogether. I would give it another visit for sure.
Amanda Ong
Good service, friendly, cool decorations. Bought an offer via groupon for buffalo wings & house wines, drinks etc. food was an hour late due to unexpected amount of orders. But they compensate us with fries & garlic bread.
Amyleebennet
Mmm wings... Fantastic chicken wings! If you can get the living social deal for unlimited wings with drinks for two people it's definitely worth it! Plus giant Jenga is a great addition to any night.
Sars
Came for the all you can eat buffalo wings plus a beer each with 3 mates. The beer was tasty and was served quickly, luckily they didn't have to brew it otherwise we would be waiting a long time. The wings on the other hand took a LONG time to get to us. I think they were still trying to perfect the genetically modified equation of the buffaloes. When they arrived, we were asleep. Once we awoke, they were eaten in 5 minutes. Start the 45 minute wait for the next round of genetically modified buffalo wings to arrive. The taste of the wings of the buffalo was good, but have had better. Go elsewhere for wings!
Swimnini
Awesome chicken wings for $12 a kg.
Marian
Good service, friendly, quick. I thought the wings were great. We went on a Saturday night and it was busy but not really packed. Pretty relaxed casual vibe and decor.
Disappointed
Great place, ordered a groupon on line for all you could eat buffalo wings and a drink each for two people great atmosphere, VERY FRIENDLY STAFF, awesome all round AAA+++
Lgoodie
Music is great. Great music, great crowd and love the decor! It was a crazy night but totally love it!
Neil
There are far better choices around St Kilda for food and drink than this place. We found the food was poor quality (burnt) and drinks expensive and the staff and management were rude.
Tish Walker
Just Drinks. Only came here for drinks and they were great. Didn't eat. Would come back
Cheeeese
Rudest bartender thinks she is way hotter than she is. I have be going to this place for over two years, lunch, dinner and to go out and I love everything about the relaxed atmosphere especially the giant jenga and other board games that are on hand. But myself and my friends have stopped going there to due to the bartender who we have encountered every time and who is beyond rude to the point she told my friends to drink next door at the prince. I have been served by her many times, I also work in hospitality so I understand that people can be the worst which is why I go out of my way to not be the same, this is also the reason I know her sheer rudeness and poor attitude are unacceptable in this industry. She is the reason myself and all my friends will not return to this bar.
Poko Delaware
Go here to drink but don't eat! Useless tasteless bar food
Miss Mariss
Not good value. Unless you arrive after 9pm to get the $1 pizza deal, do not bother visiting earlier. The pizzas are tiny for around $14 and not that special. A glass of sauv cost me nearly $10 and I felt like we were being overcharged.

I do however love the layout and laid back menu-style. It's different for Melbourne and not at all pretentious.
Dave
Fun fun. Great after work drinks spot! all the staff kill it! love coming here to wind down! then kicking on some where in fitzroy st!
Elena Clayton
Rude bar staff. Rude bartender with black hair actually said to customers at the bar - "Oh my god, one at a time!" And there were only 2 people talking to him. I don't know how management could expect customers to put up with that kind of crap. How can they keep someone like that on staff? Ruined the place for me.
Stella McCoy
Love this place!. Such a great vibe always have a good time at 29th it's a cool bar that makes you feel at home. Staff are friendly and have a great flair for creative cocktails love the pizzas, ribs & wings yum! Had a few big nights now playing giant jenga lots of fun! See you guys again soon!!
Michael
Sleezy 'n' cheap. This place ain't exactly the Ritz, but at least it's cheap! 3 dollar fish n chips took FAARRRR too long to come, and weren't great. (I wasn't expecting them to be for 3 bucks!) wine for 5 dollars was ok, I guess.
Anna
Food OK, wine way overpriced. So I get this place, cheap and cheerful, get the punters in for cheap food and hopefully make the margin on the drinks. Wow talk about margin. Their sauvignon blanc is Amiri which sells at Dan's for $6 a bottle, they are selling it at $9 a glass or $38 a bottle. When I queried this the bar guy shrugged and said bars make margin. Wooh not over 600%. Have a cheap pizza or some wings, not great just cheap uni food but don't stay there for too many. Rip off. If you are going to mark up something at least get something drinkable, if you want locals and not backpackers.
Luke Young
Wings were feral garbage! Microwaved with a sauce that tasted like salsa mixed with a gallon of sugar
Liam Telford
Quite good!. I went here using a group buy deal with a couple of friends and was quite impressed. The service staff were very friendly and helpful. We tried a couple of items off the menu in addition to the Buffalo Wings/Peroni Beer provided by the scoopon (Fries, Calamari & Kirin Beers) and they were nice, I would like to go back in the future to try some of the more substantial items on the menu, such as the stuffed cheese burger!
Lucy Harris
Showed up at 7.45 to use a voucher for all you can eat chicken wings...they'd run out of wings. Opted to stay anyway and order another dinner. Decided on burgers, went to order, and they'd sold out of burgers too! What's the point? Saturday night in st Kilda and no food at 8pm. Rubbish! Unfriendly to boot!

Already disappointed got asked to move because of reserve seating when the table I was at was not reserved and there were hardly any guests. Load of c-rap if you ask me.
Food better be amazing.. But I doubt it.

OK, so I've been here an hour already and still no food....fan-bloody-tabulously crap!

Mmmm Buffalo Wings!. Went here last night with a Voucher for all you can eat Buffalo wings and a drink. Really groovy eclectic surroundings, some tables with rustic wood tops and footstools for seats, we chose to eat outside as it was such a lovely warm evening. The staff were very friendly. As we were were presented with our massive plate of buffalo wings, we were given astonished looks from bypassers and very favourable comments. The wings were lip smacking good - messy but great. Went home with very full stomachs! and enjoyed our night. Thank you!

Liked it Alot. We ate here last night with a Scoopon I bought a while back - the Scoopon gave us all you can eat buffalo wings for four people with a drink each included. Firstly, I got no attitude or flack from the staff for using a Scoopon (something other merchants can learn from) the beers included in the deal were a good quality (Peroni) and the staff were overall quite friendly.

The Wings themself were delicious - spicey but not over the top, and there were alot - very disappointed to say we got through two baskets as a foursome. The place itself has an interesting and quirky decor - people making alot of noise playing giant Jenga was a bit annoying, but only mildly so. When the staff saw we had finished the wings we'd been given, they were again very friendly offering us more if we wanted - and quite understanding when we vehemently said no.

Overall, a very pleasant experience - will definately be back.

Great place. Tryed 29th apartment for drinks and pizza. Food was great as to was the drinks selection. Read the previous reviews about the service but couldn't fault it at all. Service was friendly and fun.

Not so good, but not so bad - A desitnation for drinks not food. I like the cool decor/environment. 29th Apartment is a cool place to have a few drinks then get a few nibbles if your hungry, however I would not make it a destination solely focused on food. It is essentially a bar with a large array of alcoholic beverages to choose from. At around *pm the lights went down and the music went up.

We waited too long for our food (35 minutes for the first thing to come out). We were supposed to get a new york tasting platter to start but somehow the dockets got mixed up and our pizzas came first, not ideal but we lived with it, as they offered us a drink on the house which we gladly accepted.

We went on a voucher which gave us two pizzas. The pizzas were not too bad, actually better than I expected but the serving sizes were small. In between a small-med size.

New york tasting plastter was cool, with onions ring (needed seasoning) hot buffolao wings (really really spicy) and little battered frankfurts/cocktail sausaged (corn dogs). We loved the corn dogs and thought they were kitsch and clever.

Overall we were happy with the food we got for what we paid $39 ( + 2 alcoholic beverages). I would go back for a few drinks, but not for dinner.

Great concept on the decor...food yum!. Decor was fabulous. Yummy flavours on the ribs and I was loving those potato skins with it's honey mustard sauce. Chef was a darl...can't say the same about the front staff.

Liveing social Voucher. We purchased through living social online a voucher for a bottle of chardonnay and tapas. OMG. Firstly they served a house labeled cleanskin chardy. It wasn't terrible but it was far from good. Then out come some very tasty garlic pizza. After out came the "tapas". No chef involved here! Supermarket brought crumbed chicken bits, same with the arancini balls and falafel. All deep fried and very ordinary. On the plate also was some toasted flat bread and dips. The olives and candied walnuts were good. I was really looking forward to this and left with food still on the plate and very disappointed. It's a bit of a kids venue with games on the tables and some pinball machines.

Nice fun place to have a drink. Friendly service. Had a pizza which was nice but nothing special. Would go back for a few drinks.

Went there at 2.30pm to have lunch. Food only came at 3.45pm. The place was not even half packed. For the mediocre food that we got , definetely not worth waiting 2 hours of my time.

Backpacker haunt. If you like drunken singalongs out on the front footpath until 3am, seven nights a week, this place is for you! If you live in the 28th or 30th apartment, don't expect to get to sleep until the patrons of this place leave the area at around 3.15am. We can assume from this that the food and the booze are cheap.

Great atmosphere. After reading some of the reviews I wasn't sure what to expect about the service but I was plesantly surprised. The staff were friendly and knew their stuff when it came to choosing a wine. We had a satay chicken and a prosciutto pizza and they went down a treat. The decor was interesting and the foos ball table and giant jenga provided a heap of laughs. Overall great atmosphere and food - would definately recommend this place.
Purple Bear
Interesting place for nibbly and drinks. This joint looks like any modern bar / lounge from the outside but take a step towards the more concealed back end of the bar and you will find that it has been decorated like a funky bacehlor's apartment fully furnished with fish tank, bed and bath! Mr P thought they were trying a bit too hard with the decor back here but I didn't mind the change of scenery.

We ordered the smoked chicken and tiger prawn pizza. I liked the garlicy sauce on the prawn pizza and mopped that up real quick. The smoked chicken pizza was okay but the sauce drowned out any of the original flavours that were listed on the menu. There was also hardly any chicken to be seen. Would have to say that given the portion sizes, these are more suitable as a nibbly with drinks rather than for dinner.

Service at the bar was friendly and efficient.

Give this a miss. Rude service at the bar and in bringing food to the table. Whilst we were there during the $1 pizza with any drink offer, the burnt pizza wasn't even worth a dollar. Better choices in St Kilda than this.

Came to 29th apartment because of an Internet coupon and was pleasantly surprised. Had goats cheese and onion pizza with pine nuts which was delicious. Had house red which was supposed to be a shiraz from hunter valley which wad very nice but actually tasted more like a merlot than a Shiraz. Very easy drinking. Lovely staff, nice atmosphere. If the pizzas are anything to go by the rest of the food should be good too.

Foods ok drinks very expensive. Like the setup but the idea was done in little bourke st about 6 years ago. Place called the apartment. Great location however and is always busy on warm nights. If you have the $$$'s give it a go i will stick to the Prince of wales for drinks at half the price.

My kinda apartment. I hadn't been to 29th Apartment until I moved into the area, but it fast became a firm local favourite. It's not easy to compete with St Kilda greats like The Espy or The Prince of Whales, but 29th certainly has a lot going for it.

You'll find the usual liquid paraphernalia on offer, but 29th is all about the look. It's small, but the entire inside is fashioned as an actual apartment - with couches, board games (yes, you can play them), a wall TV, fish tank, tables made out of barbecues and ironing boards, and even a bed at the far end of the joint. It has a great atmosphere that literally makes you feel like you're just hanging at a friends house.

The staff are great and always up for a chat (much like your mate might be if you were over for a visit ;))

With their kitchen open till 3am, and specials every night of the week (get down on Wednesdays for backpackers night - cheap drinks, cheap pizza) what more could you ask for? If you're under 35 years of age, and don't mind the St Kilda locals, you'll love this place.

29th Apartment offers an experience that sparks the imagination and stimulates the senses, making this a trendy and affordable hangout for any crowd.
