Review Kwans Table - St Kilda

Alessandro Zecchetto
I’ve discovered this place recently, literally around the corner from my place, and I was so impressed for the quality of the food and the cost very reasonable, the service is excellent and you don’t have to wait much for your dishes to come! I’ve brought my partner the second time and same result! She has been in Thailand lots of time and the only difference that she found was that the food wasn’t as spicy as over there, but easily fixable with some extra chilli if you are a heat lover! It will be my weekly restaurant from now on 🤤

I went to Kwan's table today with my family. Even though it looked busy, the food came out pretty quick. I loved the spicy pork neck salad and Tom Yum soup. The dishes at Kwan's table have so many flavours. It was abosolutely amazing. The best Thai restaurent I have ever visited. We will definitely be back. ❤
Wendy Cooper
Dingy venue but polite service and good food. We had fish cakes, larb, calamari salad and tom yum. The dressing for the salads were well done and the larb was surprisingly mild in spice.

Yum! Food is STILL amazing. Most consistent and delicious takeaway! Pork Belly salad was sensational!

Great real Thai food and friendly service. Both, green (spicy) and red curries (mild) were fantastic. Will come back if around St. Kilda.

This little gem is tucked away discreetly at the start of Inkerman Street. It's only small, with part of the kitchen being centrally located, but the quality of the food and service belies it's unpretentious nature. The decor is simple but tasteful. The vegetable curry puffs are delicious as is the red duck curry and the pad Thai.

This is by far one of the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne, the food is amazing and the restaurant has a really nice design. This is a thai restaurant you definitely should go to.

Great food! Ordered takeaway, we had the chicken green curry, fried chicken wings, grilled pork with rice, Thai fried rice and the layered cake. Loved the flavours, not too oily and enjoyed it thoroughly even tho it was takeaway. Will definitely come back.

Absolute delicious food and super friendly staff. I can warmly recommend this place.

Homey vibe and very healthy Thai food (not the typical greasy ones!) and similar to takeaway price!! All home made desserts you can smell brownie all over the shop!

Your soft shell crab burger is the best. I love this place! Fancy food that's not expensive

Delicious soft shell crab curry! The crepe cakes are also fluffy and yummy. Great curries.

Excellent atmosphere, food and service. The soft shell crab burger was excellent and the mango macaroon and coconut sponge are to die for.

This is a hidden treasure. The crispy oyster mushroom w sriracha mayo is to die for. We ate far too much but managed to fit in the most divine desserts. MAKE ROOM FOR DESSERT, PEOPLE!

I love this place & the people who work there! The courtyard out back is great & an enormous fig tree provides shade in the summer! The food is yummy & really inexpensive! Check it out with friends! Dxx

The staff were very kind and lovely, the Tom yum soup was bursting with flavour, and the chicken mince with Thai basil and chilli sauce was absolutely delicious! The pricing is very reasonable and the ambience is cute and homely! Loved the place and would definitely go back again!!

The food was flavoursome and the staff were friendly. This is more refined Thai fare compared to Derby Thai which used to be 20 m away until they relocated to Fitzroy St. However Kwan’s Table doesn’t seem to be getting the traffic or attention that it deserves. I think it may have something to do with their branding error. Firstly, Kwan’s Table doesn’t have a Thai ring to it (Kwan is also a Chinese surname); it’s not obviously Thai like a name like Thai-Kwan-Do. Secondly, they promote themselves as a cafe and patisserie when coffee/tea and desserts are only a minor part of their menu; restaurant and bar would be more apt given their trading hours too. But these are not reasons why it doesn’t get five stars. That’s because they can afford to up the spice level in their dishes vs being too patronizing to the Western palate.

Kwan's Table is a casual dinning space that has very welcoming staff and cozy decor.

Together with wine, we ordered Prawn Spring Rolls and Roasted Duck Curry with Rice.

We simply loved Roasted Duck in the roasted duck red curry. Very tender and yum. Curry was decent enough and went well with the duck.

We were a bit disappointed with Prawn Spring Rolls.

They lacked flavors in general...although the rolls were quite crispy.

Service is friendly.

Ideally deserves a 3.5....and definitely thinking of coming back to try their other stuff.

Cute, clean and friendly place.
Food is very tasty and worth a visit if you are local to Stkilda.
It isn't very visible but being next to the coin laundary is great.
I can have a meal while waiting for the dryer to finish :)

however I gave them a 3, due the the dessert seemed few days old.

Was waiting for my laundry and I tend to try any unusual burgers I come across, and his one was amazing! I was their last customer and they still made it to perfection. I’m eating here again for sure!

Had a nice, casual dinner at Kwan's Table. The pad thai was one of the better ones Ive had in St Kilda and the Thai BBQ pork was tasty. Good portions and prices, and the staff were lovely! :)

Set amongst apartment buildings in a relatively quiet street off busy St Kilda road, the unassuming cafe space that is Kwan’s Table is easy to miss. But, on entering, one would find a quaint, humble and homely cafe that combines Thai flavours with a cafe style eating and a gorgeous Thai influenced patisserie selection.

After my successful first time using foodora, I tried again today..
I had been there before for the dessert,it was ok without being great, but I think it's one of those things where cake would be better and fresher if they were selling more and making new batch quicker rather then just sitting there..Anyways back to today, ordered the burger at $15..after my burger at burger love yesterday,I was expecting my crab burger to be a beast here,I was left very hungry and let down...
Pros..nice and delicious and arrived on time
Cons..Iam at 7/11 getting a pie n sauce as Iam so hungry,no joke my burger bun was the size of a egg n bacon mcmuffin at maccas..it was gone in 2 bite..for $15 that's a bit of a rip off..
The pandan eclairs was ok..at $7 plus 5 delivery I wanted more for my $27..
I really wanted to like the food cos being there in the shop previously, you get the sense that they care and it's a family business but I live in St kilda..
$27 buys a lot..
I can't believe more people haven't rated this restaurant a 5/5! Exceptional value and the best lamb Masaman i've ever had.Highly recommended.

Staff were friendly and food was delicious, very fresh and flavourful, where many thai restaurants are overly sweet.
Pastries were well done, pretty and tasty.

Visited Kwan's Table last Friday and really enjoyed the food here. The pad Thai was delicious; not oily, noodles weren't soggy and the serving was generous.
Couldn't resist trying the tangy fried chicken- tastes weird at first but quite enjoyable and addictive (reminds me of the light & tangy chips flavouring).
I found the curry a tad salty for my liking but the meat were nice and soft and once again they were generous with the meat and veggies which is a bonus.

The lemon and lime bitter was refreshing (not too sweet!), service was friendly also. Would recommend this place and will come back to try their cakes :)

This lovely little Thai cafe and restaurant is quite a hidden gem. I first discovered Kwan’s table as a recommended restaurant on Zomato some time back. For someone who judges a restaurant by its menu, I was quite impressed with some of their unique offerings and basically sold when I discovered that they served cakes as well.

What could be better. Terrific Thai cuisine, delicious French pastries and a small but we'll selected wine list. This relative newcomer to St Kilda serves very reasonably priced smart modern Thai food and their own in-house delicious and beautifully presented pastries. Friendly staff and a nice modern fit out make this a great addition to St Kilda's restaurant scene.

Kwan's Table is a new Thai restaurant & cafe open in St Kilda. It's a really cute, small venue with lovely staff. Being a new restaurant there is obviously more room to expand. Currently their menu is size and prices are definitely worth it. I hope as their menu expands they retain the same value for money.

this place is amazing! have been here a few times over the past few months and every dish is incredible.

service is also fantastic and everything is cheap!

definitely a new favourite and couldn't recommend more highly!

The food at Kwan's table was so enjoyable the first time, I had to return to ensure it was not a fluke. I can assure you, they know what they are doing - the soft shell crab brioche bun and the pork belly baguette are both amazing. The balance of flavours and the freshness really puts Kwan's food a level above similar places I've tried. The unexpected surprise is the quality and presentation of the pastry sweets - a delicious afternoon pick me up with a coffee! (But almost too beautiful to eat). The cafe itself is cosy and unpretentious and the prices are very reasonable. No need for me to add a photo to my review, because the pictures above are exactly how my food looked when it arrived. I will be back for sure.

I love this little place, as much as I want to keep it a secret I have to share it. The food is fantastic. You can really taste the toasted spices and full, authentic flavours of each dish. The menu is small but just right , thoughtful wine list and perfect pretty and delicious little desserts. Highly recommend it... Incredible food at amazing prices. Get on down and enjoy dinner in the courtyard while we still have this Gorgeous weather.

Kwan's table is a Thai inspired cafe and patisserie that recently opened on Inkerman Street in St Kilda. You can visit Kwans for a savoury meal and stay for the sweets, which is what we did on this fine morning. They do modern Thai inspired meals like soft-shell crab in a brioche burger and deep-fried pork belly with an apple salad. Their desserts are inspired by French technique but incorporate Thai flavours like lychee, coconut, pandan and kaya. They only opened about 6 weeks ago but are already making a good impression around town.

Great find, love this place! The sweets are amazing and I like how they fuse asian flavours with french techniques. The food is fresh but full of flavour. I love the softshell crab burger, their pork belly is amazing and melts in your mouth and the curry is hearty. Service is excellent, the staff are passionate and friendly. Has a really nice interior as well.

Absolutely one of the best new places in st Kilda. Food is fresh and great quality. Staff are very friendly and decor is modern chic. This is our favourite place to grab lunch during the week. Soft shell crab burger.....yum!

Everything I've eaten here is incredible! Fresh, balanced flavours with a modern twist. I had the soft shell crab burger and I usually dislike brioche but this was gorgeous - I think they make it there. The green curry was also really good. Get in here before it gets too popular and you have to queue!

Adorable space, friendly staff, delicious food & gorgeous deserts all reasonably priced. What more can you ask for. The pork roll, pork salad and Asian curry are all delicious. coffee at very reasonable price from $3.50
The only downside is they open too late during the day.

Kwan's Table is the most gorgeous little place! The food is well priced and fresh tasting. We ordered the Thai Basil Burger and the Pork Belly Roll. Both were light, full of flavour and delicious. We also ordered a soy iced coffee and a lemon, lime and bitters. They came in these adorable glass mugs. The soy iced coffee was ok (the soy milk made it quite heavy) BUT the lemon, lime and bitters was perfect for the summer weather. To top of the experience, we sat in the courtyard under a beautiful fig tree. Looking forward to tasting their pastries and future brunch dates here :)
