Review Robarta - St Kilda

Best Venue for a Function in Melbourne! Thank you Robarta for hosting our engagement party on the weekend. Everything was perfect and blew our expectations. From the moment we met you, we felt welcomed and appreciated. You catered to our needs, set everything up for us, made the venue look beautiful, and the food, beverages and service was excellent. All our guests had the best time and raved about the event. Thank you Tricia, Christopher and Michelle! You are amazing!!!

Had an amazing joint 30th with my best friend in October at Robarta upstairs. Everything was was perfect and the staff were great. Elegant and great sized venue! Great drinks!! Shout out to Chris the bar tender who was awesome fun and provided a great service!!

I went here Saturday but it was called Green Velvet. It had some great seating and atmosphere. Went while on the St Kilda wine and cider walk. Did not realise the whole menu was vegan, which was amazing! The food was incredible!

I have frequented the ‘new look’ Robarta on many events and social occasions.. The food extraordinary, the service outstanding, the drinks, particularly cocktails, are incomparable.. Your function will be seamless & the venue amazing!!! Do not go past this establishment with a ‘new dining & bar’ vibe for all your event highlights!!! Value 100% plus & more! 💯 💯 💯

We came here on a Friday night, everything was good, we were let in and had an awesome time, only downside was that some of the bartenders didn't know how to make the "special" cocktails for the night, once (who I assumed to be) the manager left I had to switch to vodka and juice. Came here again on a Saturday night and was told by different bouncers that we weren't allowed in because they were being "very specific with who they let in"... I was going to have my 23rd birthday here next month, but now I'm stuck with nowhere to go for my birthday as I'm not even sure if they will let us in.. Sorry to the awesome manager, but I'm changing my review.

A fun night with friends at Robarta tonight. The food was delicious. Whilst the rest of Fitzroy st is slowly shutting down/giving up, Robarta holds its head up high with great staff, service and menu. Special thanks to Chris for great guidance on menu and bevvy choices!

We came in for lunch yesterday at bunny. We had great service and a nice red, butcher's block I think. And I am hard to impress but your Mac daddy Slam burger, or whatever it's called got an 8.8 from me.

Plant based burgers that actually tastes like a burger! Definitely worth visiting with your vegan mates meat eaters!! Green Velvet, the new venue in the old downstairs Robarta! French wines that are naturally vegan friendly & good cocktails too!!

Exceptional service which I can't thank them enough for, beautiful cocktails and an amazing selection of Asian inspired tapas and mains. I highly recommend checking this gem out.

Amazing Service of cocktails and food surround by a great atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and the night went on to the early hours of the morning with the 24hr liquor licence.

St Kilda is full of places to eat and drink, so it’s hard to stand out and keep a crowd of regulars. Though it’s more known as a bar and for its extensive cocktail and beverage list, Robarta has an impressive food menu too. Different days of the week have their own dinner specials and happy hour deals. The outdoors section includes both small and communal bench tables. Inside you can take a seat at a high table, at the bar, or laze on a couch with drink in hand. As the night goes on, the party continues upstairs where there’s a balcony, more seating and a second bar.

AMAZING FOOD! We visited for dinner and ordered the schnitzel burger and an Indian curry. Both were delicious and very reasonably priced. I recommend the white choc passionfruit martini!

An awesome spot for a great feed and a few drinks. The food at Robarta is delicious, very well priced and the staff are always cheery. The Asian inspired menu is perfect for sharing with a few friends along with some cheeky cocktails! The location and outdoor seating area has that real St Kilda vibe and will be my go to heading into the summer months for a tasty feed with great atmosphere.

I'm a big fan of the Robarta dumplings and tapas. The chef is from Hong Kong and serves plump, juicy perfect dumplings in a range of flavours that I actually crave. Service is friendly and warm, the staff are all locals, and the hosts are truly hospitable, knowledgeable and welcoming. I'm a regular, so I may be biased, but I love the easy menu, the laid back style and the good people who drop in for the live music on the weekends, and the club nights til late.

Rude Staff. Ruined the experience for me. Sort it out

Each dish was surprising, in a good way. The chicken wings had a dipping sauce that I likened to an upscale version of A1 steak sauce and Ryan nearly licked the little bowl clean. At first bite, the fried rice is pretty ordinary but the more you have, the more you taste special something. It’s not earth-shattering gourmet cuisine but it’s good, bordering on very good.

This is a really good restaurant. The incredibly great Ginger Rice Balls are one of the best things I've eaten this year. I wasn't really sure what to expect given some somewhat variable reviews I'd read, but it was fantastic. Cheerful greeting when we arrived, clear explanation of what we could choose from with our voucher, really cool space (we sat "out the back"), attentive but not OTT service, terrific food. Excellent combination. Our voucher said we were entitled to "seven delicious Asian tapas dishes", but I think we ended up with eight. Ginger Rice Balls (4 per serve)($8) - Rice & ginger with a sesame seed coating. Served w/ Japanese Mayo. These were awesome, I just loved them. I'll be back just to eat some of these.

The overall taste resulting from a perfect balance of flavour and prawn-to-pork-to-cabbage ratio was quite impressive for a “westernised” spring roll and probably just fell short of the authentic Vietnamese spring rolls.

Amazing dumplings!!!! Even better cocktails!

Dumplings,Croquettes, Almond Prawns. Too delicious<br/>Fresh flavours, presented beautifully at a very reasonable price. Will be back!

Amazing food! Love their tasting plates! Best place for a relaxed, cheap and fun night out. Great staff too

Went here at about 5:20pm O.... Went here at about 5:20pm<br/>Ordered yakitori and honey chocken with rice and a beer,<br/>food took a good 25 mins to reach the table, and was overpowering chinese style flavours which were unbalanced and sickly-sweet. As a japanese style chef, i was disappointed at the lack of care in recipe design. The presentation was nice though the katsuramuki carrot garnish was only a single turn. As a japanese restaurant it's overpriced for the level of food given

My friend and I are born and bred St Kilda locals and visit Robarta occasionally.  Awesome security and staff.. that's unfortunately where the positive aspects cease.  Hectic vibe, clashing music and sleazy, rough crowd.  My female friend actually got slapped by a guy when we were having a drink after work one night.  Bar staff look like they'd rather be anywhere but at Robarta.. I think they've got the right idea... If you come across this place, say hi to the doormen and keep walking!

Yum, fun and a great location. Easy going with tables on the street to watch the world go by.

Food is alright, but a little overpriced for what it is. Staff could be more attentive, especially when there are only two tables.
Pteropod
Nope. Only stopped here for a drink the other day: crusty, wobbly tables and superficially attentive but actually quite amateurish and rude service. Maybe if you sit indoors you don't have to suffer the sight and smell of dog excrement, seemingly characteristic of this sleazy section of the street.

Peoples complaints on here are about petty things. I went with a group of 12 friends on a scoupon deal and had a great night. The food was flavor some and was varied. We were probably the most difficult table of the week with 2 or 3 of us having food allergies and the rest very fussy and all needs were met where possible. In my opinion the food service style ("Asian tapas") is very different to anything around that area. The girl that was singing was AMAZING, it added to the already nice atmosphere. well done guys

Average. Staff was friendly, food was of ok standard. We had the scoopon offer...

Could be better. The name of the restaurant is nothing to do with the type of food being served. This place offers Asian tapas dishes eg Fried Rice with Chinese Sausage, Fried Dumplings and Springrolls etc. Food and service is avarage. The admosphere is bar-like. If you like something different, give this place a go. But if you are after traditional Asian dishes, this place is not for you.

Yummy!. We also bought the scoopon deal but we got the 4 person option- whether this made our experience better than the others who bought the 2 person voucher, i dont know but we loved it! Delicious food, absolutely delicious every plate. My girlfriend and i had cocktails and both agreed they were the best we'd had in melbourne. The service was pretty good, nothing awesome and youre left to wait a little too often but when they finally get to you- the staff are nice and helpful. we'll be back!

Bad service and food. On a Saturday night, this restaurant was pretty empty. We brought the Scoopon "six courses" meal voucher, but only 5 courses came out, they count 2 main as 2 courses. The service was poor, made us feel we were not welcome. did they have a really bad day or something? Food - nothing special and pretty plain, the mains are actually smaller than the entree? what's going on here? we ordered chicken dumplings (6 pieces) and chicken pork spring rolls (6 pieces) for entree. Main we had "Crunchy Almond Prawns" (4 pieces), Chicken Yakitori (4 pieces), Chicken Balls (4 small pieces), Crispy Pork Belly Skewers which turn out not crispy. If the boss trying hard to use Scoopon to make people walk into this place, please improve the service and the quality of the food. Otherwise how can we go back?

Lovely staff, service and food! A combination which is hard to come by these days... I ve been a couple times now with my family and have always had a pleasant experience. Would def recommend Robarta!!

Great Tapas. What a wonderful restaurant, food , atmosphere, music and the staff, just a great experince. Thankyou to the lovely waitress from Yorkshire, what a delight, very professional, smile on her the whole time. Will be back for sure. Would make a great place for a special occasion.

One of the better restaurants on Fitzroy St.. Had a surf & turf and a beer by the window on a warm sunny day. The steak was cooked surprisingly to order (seems many restaurants with a grill don't have medium-rare in their vocabulary but this one did), and the seafood that came in the sauce was delicious but a bit stingy with the portion. The sticky date pudding has got to be far and away the best in Melbourne, and is alone worth coming back for. Service was good, didn't wait to be seated and the staff were reasonably attentive considering the vast majority of customers were sitting outside. Left with a smile on my face. 8.5/10

My husband and I just had dinner there this evening using a Scoopon. We had heard mixed reviews in the past but thought we would give the place the benefit of the doubt. And aren't we glad we did!! We indulged in a six course tapas, starting with Miso soup and a special fried rice (vegetarian), then choosing 4 mains and finishing it off with dessert. We chose the almond crusted prawns which were monstrous, the baked eggplant with caramelised miso sauce, the vegetable tempura and salt and pepper squid. Every dish was delicious, each morsel melting in our mouths. The balance of seasoning and spices was simply perfect. To top it off we ordered a panna cotta with berry coulis and an apple crumble for dessert. Just delightful and deceivingly filling! Thank you Robarta.. we will be back for more :)

THE BEST!!!!!!!. One of the best asian restaurants I have had the pleasure to dine in. The staff were warm, friendly and no pressure to leave as soon as we finished our meal. There were 6 of us and all said how impressed we were at the great standard of the food, menu and staff. <br/>Great value for money, def will go again.

FANTASTIC! I love robarta! It definitely gets busier as the night goes on however the food is delicious so I would recommend eating there sometime too. Atmosphere is fantastic, staff are lovely, cocktails are incredible (seriously good espresso martini)

Nice cosy modern restaurant. We came here accidentally after the restaurant we'd booked had closed down! They seated us inside on a slightly raised area. They had a special on house wine $5 per glass which was great. We ordered quickly and the food came out after about 15 minutes. We ordered beef with oyster sauce which came with rice, and chicken noodles. Both were very nice, tasty and generous portions. The staff were nice and friendly. The meals and 2 glasses of wine cost us under $40. We left an hour after we arrived which was great for us. Would definitely come here again.

Enjoyable Evening. Upon arriving at 7.30 we were greeted by a happy and friendly staff member who offered seats of our choice - inside or out. Our food (spring rolls, dumplings, Thai salad, drumettes) arrived together and promptly approx 15mins after the order was placed. The food was good, we had a enjoyable evening out and would be happy to return in the future.

Nice Food. Dined with 2 x Scoopons and thoroughly enjoyed their meals and a great range to choose from.

Went with a $29 Scoopon which got us 4 tapas dishes & 2 desserts. The food was ok, but I wouldn't rave about it. The service was way too fast & fussy, which considering the place was almost empty was over the top. We sat in the back & it felt like a dingy nightclub that had been turned into a restaurant. There are much better places than this on Fitzroy St.

Overall Good Service, but.... We bought scoopon which consist of 4 tapas, miso soup and fried rice. The food was ok, but the environment was really relaxing. The waitress were great very friendly and welcoming. The only thing I could fault on this was that the coupon did come with dessert as well, we forgot about it when we were paying extra drinks, the waitress reminded us but the guy at the counter (owner??) kept telling the waitress "no no"..in front of us and did not honour it.. we left it out as we were quite full and the coupon it self was quite generous. I thought that was pretty rude. overall, great service, food okay, pity it had to end on a low when we paid. (we also gave a tip for the waitress for the good service!)

Excellent service and food. My partner and I had dinner at Robarta because of a Deals.com voucher and were absolutely blown away by the quality of food, the wonderful, friendly staff and the excellent service. <br/>Although we live locally we had never been to Robarta before. Must say we were more than pleasantly surprised and will definitely be going back there again soon. It's our new St Kilda favourite.

Awesome. Went early in a Saturday evening with the girls after a wedding they easily sat 8 of us without a reservation. I had never tried tempura vegetables before but a girlfriend says "its like a potato cake but with different veg". So i get some calamari and tempura and was amazed. Staff were lovely and chatty. Ever since i have been craving tempura. Ohh and pricing was so reasonable. Will definately be back!

I love this place, had my 30th there!. I had my 30th at robarta and often go there to eat. Having been a chef before I entered into acting, I can honestly say the food is excellent.<br/><br/>I am always welcomed by the staff and served like royalty. This place understands true hospitality.<br/><br/>P.S I can highly recommend the cocktails!
Rachel
Amazing food if you like asian cuisine. My friend and I purchased a voucher on deals.com for $29 and got 7 tapas dishes. We couldn't believe how much food came out. We ended up ordering cocktails, that were worth every cent.<br/><br/>Service was also good, our waitress was really helpful with the menu choices and well mannered.<br/><br/>I am so glad we decided to buy the voucher, definitely going back again!
Starfish
Terrible. Went there for dinner for 2. Service was pushy and felt like they were trying to rush us out the door, which is surprising considering we were drinking their expensive cocktails. Next course was brought out before we finished eating the first. We ate from their Japanese tasting menu. We've had better Japanese food our local shopping centre food court. Don't bother.
Cam
Nice enough place but a bit pricey. We went there for a couple of drinks before going out to dinner. Its has a nice location in St Kilda with a dark, mood lighting atmosphere inside.<br/>The drinks are too expensive in my opinion. $9 for a basic spirit seems a little too much for an average bar in St Kilda.
Samantha Park
Went for dinner recently with friends. Sharing tapas dishes worked well for large group and was good value. Definitely go again

Hmmm. Good spot right there on Fitzroy St with a good atmosphere. We had a meal in the sidewalk section out front. We just had cheap burgers with fries and a few drinks. The food was ok, not so much that I would go back. The staff were ok too but just the overall feel of the place wasn't that enjoyable.
