Great vegetarian food, vegan options. It's not obvious from the outset that it is vegetarian so during my visit I saw a few people sit down and then leave after looking at the menu!
Food is good, typical burritos, quesadillas, nachos etc no meat, the corn (elote) was my favourite. Can't complain about the price.
Food was good, it’s your standard Mexican but is very heavy on being vegetarian/vegan based. A very neat touch. I’d personally rate the food at 4 stars but what got it at 5 stars was the exceptional service. Workers are amazing and powered through the busy period even though the restaurant was as hot as outside. Good on them, they did an awesome job. Much respect, especially to the blond woman with the white shirt (didn’t know the name, sorry). Thanks for the experience!
Best Tacos and Nachos ever had in Melbourne
We had the Elote and the Nutella churros. Corn was grilled well and flavorful. The churros can’t be compared to the ones in Mexico but still yum. Would go back but only if in the area.
Friendly, welcoming staff with fast service.
My Special Quesadilla arrived hot and smelled delicious. They didn't skimp on the guacamole – a rarity these days! – and the ingredients tasted high quality and fresh.
However, it needed more salsa, as the beans are quite bland on their own. It also needed a more even distribution of ingredients, since you end up with mouthfuls of only beans towards the end.

Trippy Taco in St Kilda is a gorgeous location. Love the feel and colours, inside and outside.
I tried:
- Horchata - YUMMO!
- Nachos - cheesy, covered in yummy salsa, sour cream and guac!
- Chargrilled tofu tacos - absolutely delicious, love the corn tortilla too!
- Churros and chocolate sauce was the perfect dessert for the day!
The best thing about all the amazingly yummy food : it was all VEGAN! So cool.
The service and vibe at Trippy Taco is nice too. Would definitely love to try more menu items in the future, and maybe a cocktail or 2!

Good vegan option for those craving Mexican. Just a short walk from St.Kilda beach. Little slow on the service but great food nonetheless with really friendly staff. Filling tofu burrito, the right level of spice - And the Trippy fries! Love them!
I've been to the Gertrude Street Trippy Taco several times but only just tried the St.Kilda location - I think I love it even more! The space is larger than the other spot and has great interior decor with just the right amount of kitsch. I tried their horchata on this visit, which I hadn't had since I was a kid. I'd never even seen it in Australia til now, but am so delighted to have found an option that's as good as I remember. I sampled the nachos, which I've had before but will never get tired of, as well as the tofu taco, which was new to me. It has a really nice, smoky flavour complemented by fresh veg to brighten it up. For dessert, I had churros with vegan chocolate sauce (which is more akin to a hot choc pudding). It's hard to do a fried stick of dough wrong, but Trippy Taco do it very right.
Trippy Taco's story is as much fadcinating as the vegetarian fare they serve. It's one of the best vegetarian dining spaces in Melbourne...Which is very rare since some of the most famous vegetarian restaurants have been very bad according to us.
Our absolute favorite was Taquitos. Omg! The crunch, the flavors and guacamole. Quesadillas and Butter Garlic Roasted corn on knob with mayo was the second best. What simply added charm to the whole experience was the Sangria . Not even the very authentic spanish restaurants in Melbourne can do it right.
Value for money!!
This is such a cheerful place! Great decor, decorated and fun cocktails and delicious food. The service was lovely and friendly too. I found the food here much tastier than their other location. Would definitely recommend!
Amazing vegetarian or vegan can’t remember nachos I could eat all of it and not feel heavy afterward like it does with meat nachos. Amazing feed and will definitely come back! Great flavour
GOD I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!! would for sure recommend the MIXED BURITTO - that smoky tofu is irriestible, best of both worlds with the black beans in there too. NACHO's are always a go, cant go past those fries though - love the kick to them :))) what a feed, unmissible place - vegan options for everything is just too good :)))
Looking for something cheap, cheerful, and vegetarian (so that us meat-eaters can convince ourselves we're being totally healthy despite the lashings of sour cream and cheese), then look no further than Trippy Taco in St Kilda. With a surprisingly low score on Zomato, the Mexican inspired vegetarian cuisine at Trippy Taco is absolutely fresh and delicious. With a chilled, no frills vibe (active wear is totally acceptable), Trippy Tacos offers the array of usual Mexican suspects (think tacos, nachos, burritos etc), as well as extensive cocktail menu at very reasonable prices.
Definitely my absolute favourite Mexican-style restaurant! Have been to the Southside and Northside locations so many times and can never get enough! Obsessed with the vegan nachos
Had the nachos with jalapeños and the trippy burrito (shared)- could not fault the food. Dinner was booked for 8pm and then staff closing down at 9pm- we felt rushed- would come again for a good veggie alternative although would be here a bit earlier.
Cute kitsch decor and laid back vibe. Food was simple and tasty, the banana Nutella quesadilla was delicious. Look forward to returning to try some more of this menu.
Trippy taco is a vegetarian and vegan friendly Mexican restaurant. While we loved the vibes and feel of the restaurant we didn't think the food was outstanding. Very decent for takeaway/quick style food but not the highest of quality. Prices are very decent though!
I love this restaurant! The vegan nachos and the mixed vegan burrito are my favourites. I also enjoy the trippy fries with the tasty seasoning.
I don't know why this place has a lot of negative reviews... I thought it was delicious! I always go to the Fitzroy one and thought I'd finally give this one a try and was not disappointed. Mixed burrito was super tasty as always and really enjoyed the set up of the store. I haven't been here when it's really busy, but I'd be happy to wait if the food was as good as it has been the times I have eaten here. Love your work! Favourite vegetarian burrito at the moment! 👍🏼
If you are looking for a relaxed, down-tempo spot to have a chill vegan meal then this is the place. Everything on the menu is excellent, tasty, fresh and the service is always friendly. One of the best vegan-friendly spots southside
Great location, friendly service and food was warm on a winters night. Better than I expected to be honest. Great value for money and very tasty . 😊👍
The nachos were delish!! A friend had the burrito and devoured it in minutes. The $20 sangria jug was great value, and went down a treat with the food. The staff were friendly until... Closing. In which they left the front door open while bringing things in through the front door, on a freezing windy night. A blatant hint that they were closing, with no warning to us that we could order desert. We would of stayed longer and tried the Nutella tortilla while still drinking our half full jug.
Hahah the bad reviews are from people confused about the lack of meat in their vegetarian meal. Idiots. Ive enjoyed every meal from here and the Fitzroy chain also - fast fun food, just need to
relax peepzzzz
Came here for a quick bite to eat before heading out. Ordered the black bean and cheese burrito and fries. Quick service, friendly staff. Burrito was alright, would have been nice with chicken. Chips were well seasoned and delicious.
I'd heard that there was free meals at this outlet at the weekend so decided to see what all the fuss was about, having heard of their great reputation across the city. We were given free chips, corn chips with salsa, and quesadillas. Then we ordered the bean taco, nachos and taquitos. I'm quite a huge meat fan so I sometimes hesitate with vegetarian food, but all of these dishes burst with flavour so the lack of meat was soon forgotten. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes, and the atmosphere was very chilled and friendly, with the addition of some funky background music. I was also really impressed with the mostly gluten free menu!
I have always loved the Trippy Taco at Fitzroy, and I wanted to see how it was doing in St. Kilda. I visited during the St. Kilda Festival and much to my delight, it was bustling with people.
I ordered the tofu asada burrito, the ever-addictive Trippy Fries, and the quesadilla. Everything was as delicious as the Fitzroy location and also arrived promptly. The best difference is the amount of space available here. There are loads of sharing tables, booths and outdoor seating available. Such a fantastic addition to the St. Kilda scene. It won't be long until it is just like its Fitzroy store with a line winding around the corner during dinner time. Can't wait to visit again to join the queue.
