I ventured into the municipality of glen eira and was ensnared by a towering giant and the brother of Tarzan (Nikki and Alex) to this place. Well what could I say but Holy Moly i loved this wholly . Great was the food and great was the group next time I come here I’ll even try the soup .
Such a sweet cafe that I never knew existed. It has a variety of indoor, outdoor and mixed seating that's all super cosy. Love that they have oat milk, which they know how to use well. Service was friendly too.
A nice cafe with lots of space. Neat and tidy with friendly service, Wall Two 80 is a cool little spot for coffee catch ups or a nice brunch. It gets quite busy, so there is a bustling vibe.
Coffee is excellent, and the food menu has some interesting choices. With some yummy pastry and cake choices, I like to pop in here for a sweet treat. A nice venue for your caffeine fix.
Coffee here is great, would highly recommend! Love that they have Oat milk :) Great vibe sitting outside in the sun and easy window for takeaways
Best coffee in the area, always spot on. Newly altered food menu is also nice, good quality, decent value. Nice vibe about this place. Highly recommended.
This is my favourite coffee this side of the city it is a cute little place that offers its own unique charm. I love the brekkie brioche bun.
My partner and I had some coffees here recently, we sat outside in the sun which was perfect. The cafe has long benches along the outside which is perfect for people watching!
This is a small cafe, almost a hole in the wall type of place.
Coffee was good and would happily come back.
Good coffee but bring a fly squatter. The food is ok here but coffee and biscuits are great. Today I have tomato salmon and toast and came out well presented and tasty. A must try for the coffee and flies.
We know it’s a big call, but we think we found the best coffee in Melbourne!
The wall just screams “Melbourne” with its funky vibes, incredible coffee, great food and friendly staff. The coffee scene is super competitive in Melbourne and of especially high standard on Carlisle street however the wall really has it down pat! (And we love that you can order from the window outside and sit along “the wall” or come inside and enjoy a dine in too). The food is fantastic too. It’s not often that you can find good food that’s not over priced and the wall really nails it. We highly recommend the breakky board (pictured- note: it usually comes with a boiled not scrambled egg).
The current rating seems around right although I feel it could go higher on a good day. The place has a humble feel to it and a comfortable amiable sort of atmosphere. Service was lovely. I had the green bowl which was very pleasant. I felt righteous eating it. I had the feeling it was a few leaves or beans short but I might be wrong. Coffee was good too. I’m a positive sort of guy. Something tells me this place can go higher.
We had the bacon & egg roll with avocado, its was delicious and the coffee was great. Staff were really friendly and the venue was cute and cosy. Good value for money.
Just walked in here for lunch on Sunday. I wouldn't come here for the coffee but the food and service was great. I got the Reuben sandwich and would be definatley back again for the food.
Simple hearty meals and kick-ass coffee. Breakfast board with smoked salmon and avocado is a real winner. Always good specials too. Love this place
Love this friendly warm cafe & the vibe & atmosphere having friends & family relax enjoy food & coffee n love the music & do some reading. Will come back again.
My favourite place to grab coffee in Balaclava, especially as you can order from the window outside rather than be squeezed into a busy cafe. Pretty well priced at $4.70 for a large Soy Latte. I find the food menu a bit underwhelming. A bit simple for Melbourne standards, but I think if they have what you’re after it’s good quality and reasonable.
The set up is very unusual, a bit of a hole in the wall and a hipster styled restaurant - very relaxed but busy. They have some good menu options apart from the usual. The menu was well priced, a tad cheaper than most brunch places.
I tried mushroom with wilted greens on rye. The quantity was hugeee and full of flavour. Generous amount of goats cheese too. Not appealing to the eyes but tasted nice. Coffee stood upto Melbourne's standard too :)
A cute little place you can keep returning to.
I was welcomed into the place by friendly smiles and attentiveness.
I ordered the breakfast board, which in itself was quite simple. But I don't think it is meant to be anything else.
It was fresh and suited what I was after. No bells, no whistles. What you see is what you get.
Brilliant brekky at Wall 280!! Coddled eggs and mushrooms always a winner!!! Love the team here, so welcoming and great at the banter. Simple yet comprehensive brekky menu. Definitely drop by if you have the chance!!!
Great menu, lots of choices. Busy environment but very helpful staff and friendly helped us to get a table. Food was hot and not too long of a wait on a busy day. Wasn't blown away by the food but wasn't put off. Might come back again to try something different. Coffee was nice.
I sat outside watching the passing parade, had a delicious espresso, and ate a huge breakfast board, with soft boiled egg, salmon, cream cheese, rye toast, butter, sprouts, avocado, raw onion, capers and pickled cucumber on it.
a nice little local on the corner. The little hole in the wall is great for passers by that just want a quick coffee. The breakfast and lunch menu is good too and staff are friendly.
Luv the wall but for such a well known landmark institution getting served a small cake on a coffee cup dish is just kinda cheap nasty and tacky!!!
Tuesday morning. And this place is buzzing with patrons. Mum ordered beans with feta on toast with spinach and I ordered smashed avo with chives and cottage cheese. Good and satisfying meals.
Coffees were divine :)
Friendly staff too
Definitely coming back
Nice coffee and food. Staffs are friendly. However, I’m not sure if it’s really worth queuing for. There are so many other great cafes around!
Sangas are great, coffee however is atrocious. Weak and nasty tasting. I've given them enough chances - plenty of better joints in the area for coffee.
It has the makings of a mecca of brunching locations. The kind of place you visit on a Saturday morning and remark, "there are just so many choices, John, which one do you think we will look coolest in" Wall Two 80 is at the rear of 280 Carlisle Street, despite actually having possession of the Carlisle Street frontage. It boasts a wall (if you're really smart, you may be starting to see the way the name came together) of street art that changes periodically, wherein there is a hole through which the coffee comes. Or at least that is my understanding.

surprise surprise. i chose the ‘sardines on sourdough with tomatoes and basil’ – the dish was so honest and delicious, i could taste every single ingredient in it! lovelove~
Regular spot, never goes wrong.. Consistent.
That's The Wall in a word.
I've been going there for years and it's always the same which is exactly what I want.
I usually just have a pidé and a cup of tea but there's specials as well if that's you're thing.
Boom!. Been coming here for a few years when im in the area, great coffee, satisfactory service and a mean breakfast.
Love that coffee......... Great coffee, dislike interior, and sadly now it's very cold sitting outside against ''the wall" (no outdoor heating)...... in nice weather, it's great to sit on the street, drink awesome coffee, and watch the delights of the area sail past...... great characters down there!!
Love x80. The greatest fruit toast with cinnamon flavoured ricotta and delicious espresso! Enough said.
Perfect by me. I read some of the other reviews and have no idea what their experience was but mine was great. Menu had plenty of options: I ordered the baked eggs which were great and the coffee which I have had here before was top notch. Service was professional without fawning over me. Overall a perfect experience for what it's worth.
Just had breakfast here - bloody awesome! Had the coddled eggs with bacon and avocado and it was brilliant. Two coffees later I'm totally satisfied and will be back. Should also add the tunes they were playing were great also. Well done!
Finally found a fave place for breakfast after two years in Melbourne and really friendly staff....great food great service!
Having my food placed in front of me in less than 2 minutes, definitly in my good books! Cheap brekky and delicious!!
The coffee was delish! While the coddled eggs I ordered were overdone it was still a tasty meal and for the price I was well satisfied. The service was very mixed. Had one lovely waiter... Followed by a horrible moody girl. I had heard the staff were rude, but was still taken aback that this girl still had a job. Maybe she is the bosses daughter or something. Anyway... Overall a nice meal and would go back with friends.
Great coffee and coddled eggs I the morning and now a great place for a wine and home style food on Friday and sat night. Loving the lasagna!
Came in to try the new dinner menu. We had hummus and bread, wagu meatballs and the ploughmans board, beautiful!! All washed down with a Grey Goose aranciata rossa and a Pimms for good measure :-)
Great coffee & a cosy local atmosphere. Try the strawberry aniseed jam on the turkish toast - simple but really tasty.
So good love it there been going there since I was 2
Smoked chicken pide.....yes please
Good coffee. This is a great little cafe that I've been visiting for years - the coffee & cakes are consistently good, the breakfast and lunch menu is a bit hit & miss - sometimes amazing, sometimes just average. Definitely their main business is people stopping by for a quick coffee - in summer especially there will be heaps of people sitting out the front, getting some sunshine. They also do nice hot chocolate, as a bonus.
Excellent coffee and cool spot to chill out in Balaclava. Oats and rhubarb, and spanakopita were great. Forget St Kilda, this is so much better.
Great coffee. Decent food - and very well priced. Big fan of this in-and-out coffee house.
Wait staff have become much more friendly over the years, which is great!
Homemade baked beans and cobbled eggs with sausage both good hits. Coffee amongst the top few I've had in Melbourne. Service good. Definitely recommend.
Nice Coffee. Only ever had takeaway coffee from the hole in the wall. Never any problems with service or quality, guy remembered my order after 3 days. Would recommend.
Can't believe some of the negative reviews I've just read. Been going here for years - and I really don't like coffee - it's always fun to visit. Staff are always friendly, efficient and relaxed. Always.
Wall to wall love. For me The Wall is all about the coffee. I can't think of anywhere else that does consistently as good coffee as this place. So what if the menu is limited and the staff can barely tolerate customers? There's no better place to sit and read or watch the world go by on a lazy autumn day.
Great coffee, my lounge room on the weekend. I disagree with some earlier postings complaining about the customer service, how they sat and no one approached them for order.
Wall Two 80 is not a swanky restaurant. I understand, the unwritten rule for this place is, we are meant to order before we sit down. Once you follow that rule, everything is smooth as.
You will note that everyone there sit everywhere, including on the street gutter of Nelson Street - there is no minimum order, no one will chase anyone out - even if you take 2 hours to sip your one cup of flat white.
Water is always self-served and glasses for water are always located next to the tap. I think some earlier postings were misguided to say service is bad because there's no glass on the table.
I find the people working there as wonderful and helpful. Surely for any waiter to remember which side of the gutter you squat, and bring your coffee there, is nothing less than brilliant...
Coffee is still definitely the best relative to other establishments on the street. Unfortunately, I have never been the fan of their food (various different pides)
Coffee wins. Their coffee ( double espresso, take away) saves them from bring localiste snobs. From one hospo worker to the other, make it a better edperience other than ordering from a hole in the wall. 5 STAR espresso
Great Atmosphere. Coffee was great and we got a table quite easily. The brekkie pides were delicious. Great vibe.
The Wall is a early starters institution with great coffee available early In the morning. Lunch is as simple as a bagette for $7.00 my favorite is the large community table.
