Review Frankies Top Shop - St Kilda

Alana Chrisomalidis
Cute dog-friendly cafe. Amazing coffee and smoothies. Food is good but not amazing. Service is timely and staff are friendly. I also really like the outdoor area ☺️

Stopped by briefly for a coffee and pastry. Staff were great, coffee was good. Will return. Accessibility info: 3 steps to enter the building but there is seating outside on the sidewalk and on a patio and both are accessible by mobility challenged peeps.

Bought 4 coffees take away which was absolutely insipid. Mocha had No chocolate and hot chocolate wasn’t stirred properly and firmed up at bottom. Sausage roll was really GREAT. Chicken pie was bland and we threw it after a bite. Brownie and blueberry cake were top class. Staff was great. Please take this review constructively. Peace ✌️

Frankie's is a very dog friendly coffee place near St Kilda beach. They serve great coffee and their pie is delicious. I love the open space window at front.

Frankies is a cafe that every local has visited and recommends. Gorgeous cafe so many home made cakes, treats, salads and more. Staff are lovely and coffee is great. If you haven’t visited yet, please do so and let me know what you think.

Great fit out and a perfect example of a fantastic neighbourhood cafe. Not cashing in on the proximity to the beach. Foods great and coffee too 😊

Great place to relax over coffee or sample some of Michele's award-winning food from the new menu. Great addition to St. Kilda's café scene,

Avis en français pour les francophones : excellent café, avec de délicieux produits à manger comme à boire, sur place ou à emporter, et un service au top ! Le seul petit bémol : pas de free WiFi.

What a fantastic space and if that's not enough, the food is absolutely fantastic. Don't forget to have a beautiful coffee or the salted caramel milkshake, both of which are highly addictive!!!

Just the best place in the neighbourhood. Almost reluctant to tell you how good it is, this little gem is going to get so well known it will be hard to get a seat. I think you'll love it too.

Had brunch on Sunday and had a long hair in my omelette sent it back to the kitchen it was disgusting none of the cooks had hair nets or hats
Owner offers a coffee and implies it was my hair mixed into the omelette as her chefs/cooks all had short hair. I am not in the habit of putting hair in my food for a free meal was appalled and disgusted by the insinuation declined the offer of a free coffee and paid for my breakfast in full but will not be returning. I work in customer service and this is not the proper way to keep customers happy and maintain a good relationship.
Nice setting and service but such a shame how limited the vegan options are (ie there were almost none). We won't be going back until this improves.

BRILLIANT !!!
I ordered the Moroccan Cauliflower fritters which came with a gooey poached egg, sautéed kale and a delicious pumpkin hummus.
Perfectly balanced meal, which was nicely spiced, filling and beautifully presented.
This is not your average neighbourhood cafe - in fact it far exceeds many cafes on Chapel and High st.
Great location, delightful staff, delicious food! Portions were on the smaller side, but enough.
Cabinets inside were full of delicious looking takeaways and cakes. You can even buy the condiments homemade inside. Will go again!

Been back the third time now. We like this place at st Kilda. The omelette was full.of flavours and the fritter was great too. The coffee was above average. They also have a small selection of dry goods on display.

Situated in the backstreets of St Kilda, Frankies Top Shop is a favourite amongst the locals - and it's easy to see why. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, this quaint, lush, and incredibly inviting cafe will immediately make you feel at home. Using seasonal produce wherever possible, Frankies' menu consists of breakfast, brunch and lunch items such as the potato roesti with smoked salmon, cucumber salad, horseradish creme fraiche and poached egg, and the Reuben sandwich on Elwood sourdough. It also offers a range of take home meals (lasagna, family pies, chicken meatballs), daily specials, and of course (as should any good local cafe should) sweet treats.

Fantastic coffee, food and service! Wonderful warm environment, lots of homemade goodies that are just delicious! The Persian love cake is AMAZING! Highly recommend, perfect brunch spot!

Difficult to fault, service was friendly, attentive and professional. Premises was clean and comfortable. Food was very good and service quick. Environmentally conscious cafe, low wastage per meal and low environmental impact choices made by management. Coffee was good, reasonably strong and slightly bitter the way I like it but could have been hotter. Overall recommended and would visit again.

This place is so lovely! Great service, beautiful food for both eat in and takeaway. It's delicious and modern without being pretentious. I had the French toast special with passionfruit curd and berries, it was beautiful and not too sweet. Will definitely be back for some of those salads at the front counter.

So in love with this gorgeous little café. Great selection of food and drink items and offers a cosy feel. It's a real asset to St. Kilda West, and will definitely be a regular client going forward.

Very good coffee nice shop and fit out.
The service is very poor disorganised and panicked even when it's a slow time.
Food is ok all the flavours are there just a bit bland.
I noticed most of the items on the menu are pre made and then sat on display.
This will compromise the quality.

Stumbled across this cute but well run cafe after an event along the foreshore. There were plenty of staff and so they were very efficient. The display cabinet is packed full of delicious salads as well as baked pastries and other goodies, plus there is a menu to order from! My salad bowl was a bit overpriced at $15, but both the beetroot & candied walnut and the red grain with sweet potato salad were packed full of flavour. My friends had fritters, potato rösti, coffees, smoothies and a chicken sandwich, and all reports were positive. Definitely left satisfied!

Great coffee, delicious food and service with a smile! I work around the corner so have had many coffees at Frankie's and they never disappoint! The brunch menu is drool-worthy. So happy this delightful cafe has opened up in the area :)

Frankie’s Top Shop is a new local café and food store within the residential side of St Kilda, owned by renowned food writer, Michele Curtis. They have only been open for 6 weeks, but the vibe within this cosy eatery feels like they have been here for years. Located across the road from St Kilda beach, you are so close you can smell the sand and feel the ocean breeze.

Housed within the historic old Kiosk site in Cowderoy Street in St Kilda West, Frankie’s Top Shop is all about hearty, healthy, feel good options. . Frankie’s Top Shop is the embodiment of owner Michele Curtis' vision for a part café, part foodstore and part corner milk bar operation and has resulted in a cosy eatery which is a nod to the site’s previous long term owner Frank, as well as her favourite café in Byron Bay, The Top Shop.
The Spice Adventuress
Located inside a beautiful historic building (a former neighbourhood milk bar) in Cowderoy Street, St Kilda West, Frankie’s Top Shop is Michele Curtis’s first solo venture. Michele needs no introduction to the food lovers, a professional chef and award winning food writer with publications like ‘The Foodies Diary’, ‘In The Kitchen’ and ‘What’s for Dinner’ to her credit. Her vision for Frankie’s was simple – a local food store, milk bar, café, all under one roof.
