Review Misery Guts Bar - St Kilda

Santino Raftellis
My favourite local pub in St Kilda. Great, low-key vive, cheap alcohol, great owners. May it live forever.

On my way to the Palais in St Kilda for a concert (probably Snowpatrol) and felt like a drink. Went into Misery Guts and ended up with a mulled wine (it was winter). Sat and enjoyed the St Kilda crowd for a while. This is worth a shot if your in the area and looking for a slightly different experience to the standard pub (not that there is anything wrong with pubs). This looks like a pub from the outside but when you get inside its more a funky bar. Well worth a look.

Great at atmosphere, with top staff. Good selection of beers and wine by the glass. Also good bar food and cocktail selection.

Absolutely love this bar for so many reasons. It's very St Kilda - a place where locals come together and have good yarn. Great staff, always up for a chat and they make the best toasties in town!

Best bar in town. Good beers, great people on both sides of the bar. The staff don't pander to fools so if they seem cold or abrupt maybe take a look in one of the large mirrors inside

Such a good find. A dank dark and very cool little bar. With a bowl of pistachios and a cold craft beer, we sang songs and played pool as it rained outside. This bar is everything I love about Melbourne and such a treat to have in St Kilda amongst all the tourists and backpackers to remind us what St Kilda was originally all about.

Great venue, had a cheese toasty (enormous) and enjoyed the wine. I had a bottle of 'Dodgey Brothers' and it was a solid enjoyable drink. Noisy venue though, bit of a shame as i wanted a great conversation, not a loud shout - but you get that with high walls and hard wood floors. Still, a great venue and I enjoyed discovering it and the cheer of the staff a great deal. Another discovery achievement in St Kilda.

It was a cold and rainy night, my partner and I were off to the theatre and walking in the rain. Cold and not too happy we saw the sign, “Mulled Wine”’ “real fire” come in Tim.E, well almost hahahaha

We have a lot fire too ... and as quick as lightning we were inside. Upon opening the door to this little bar we were welcomed by a blanket of warmth that only a log fire and a mug of mulled wine can bring. How perfect!

The service was friendly and as welcoming as the warmth from the log fire. My mulled wine was great, spicy, hot and it gave me the strength to continue on my journey, just like our Frodo lol.

This bar is great, nice punters, it’s relaxed and it has a great vibe. A perfect place to chill.

Unexpected delight
Went past this so many times and thought it would be an RSL grumpy place. I was wrong. Toasty and warm. Great beer. Awesome toastie. Atmosphere was inviting and friendly. My new favourite place in St Kilda.

Lovely cosy bar, great for a night cap. Lovely friendly staff, but the owner was very gruff and rude to my party, threw the night off, her attitude totally at odds to the wonderful staff. Overall would return, feels like a snug front room.

Came across this bar by chance, now my go to in St. Kilda. Ode to an old saloon brought into the modern world. Keeping it simple with a unique space, great tunes, lovingly made cocktails, local beer on tap and ace staff. Make sure to get yourself a pickle and try the aperol sour!

Love love loved this bar, cosy warm great atmosphere and excellent drinks list. The friendliest of staff, Simon the guy with the long hair makes the best cocktails!

Having only opened in the past week, I came here to check it out and was pleased to discover that 4 Pines Pale Ale is on tap. The bar near work removed it, so will be going here from now on.

A welcome addition to St Kilda, Misery Guts Bar is a warm, cosy, and nicely fit-out local. The wine list is concise but well selected, and the beer is a cut above the standard offering of most bars. Will definitely become a regular haunt.
