You know that burger joint, the one with the one with the games and the good burgers, it’s in the heart of St Kilda… what’s it called?
Yeah, we know, That Burger Joint!
And so, should you, the philosophy is simple – good eats, good times and a few games for good measure. The guys here don’t want you looking at your phones the whole time you’re at their joint, rather they want you talking, interacting and having an all-round good time.
How do they do this, well That Burger Joint aren’t just about the burgers, but we’ll get back to them. They want you to feel like it’s your home away from home, with a Wii ready to play, a bunch of board games and that old classic, Uno you can’t help but put your phones away and have a few laughs instead.
Now let’s get back to what you really want to know about, the burgers and those good eats we mentioned earlier.
Sitting down we immediately took note of the BJ Munchie Box a box full of munchies filled with Cheesed out Potato Totters, Buffalo Wings, Shoe String Fries, Sweet Chilli Korean Fried Chicken and four Dipping Sauces. If that wasn’t good enough you get all that for $25 – now that’s good value! Be quick the Munchie Box won’t be around forever as its only available for a limited time. But we weren’t done there, and who could pass up Mac & Cheese with a little Bacon on top for good measure. And that was just to start.

It was my last night in town before travelling again. My partner and I where going to cook a home meal. But by the time he finished collage and school it was late. He offed can I treat you to a burger! Deep down I was thinking omg you know iv out on 9kg but ok why not.
He brought me to the burger joint m, I was thinking I hope it’s not like fat yak, there burgers are so fatty and greasy anyway, whilst we waited for our burgers we played a few games, as they have connect four and janger I think it’s called,
we ordered this burger that had chicken and beef patty on it. I was waiting for a heart attack because it has both with double cheese. Any way I was blown away I was totally wrong. These burgers are amazing.
We both had the B street banger because we couldn’t decide if we wanted a chicken burger or beef burger.
This burger was cooked to perfection not to saucy not to greasy it was amazing. I highly recommend it if you are hungry. It’s a pretty filling burger!
As we left the guy was in the shop next door. He saw us leave and he came out thanking us for visiting tonight and have a good week. Supper sweet.
I can’t wait to go back and try the other burgers.
All those other burgers we’ve eaten have nothing on these. The food was amazing, not greasy and had a great flavour. Cool vibe; a little bit quiet for a Thursday. Staff were lovely and so polite; very attentive to our needs. We were extremely impressed and will be back again. Everything has a hearty flavour; you can’t go wrong.
In short: do try this place. Burgers are nice, thick and juicy. Tried the BJ House, Southern Hillbilly, and Getting veggie with it. All three were really good. The veggie burger was a standout, considering this is not beef but veggies... good job. We ordered a bowl of chips which was very generous and enough for three, in my opinion. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside is the front tables area of the joint need to be more inviting, I walked in because I'm a big burger fan but once i was seated all emotion was lost. I'd come back if I'm the area.
Great experience at this humble burger joint.I ordered the Veggie Burger and some onion rings and loaded chips - all made vegan (with vegan cheese). When it was served it was presented very well (see my poorly lit photo taken with my phone) and the serving was quite hearty and I enjoyed the ingredients. The food was tasty and it is refreshing to add another venue to the list of quality vegan-friendly venues I can visit. The atmosphere was warm and the place was clean and tidy, and the service and staff were extremely accommodating. Ill be taking my friends back for more.9/10 from me for a (vegan friendly) casual dining experience.
Very welcoming joint. They made both our burgers vego without any fuss and it was delicious. Will definitely come back. Great outdoor beer garden!
Being locals of Fitzroy North we have been watching the old Mr Natural pizza place change and evolve.
Last night my husband and I along with our dog decided to try the newly opened “That Burger Joint “, in Fitzroy North
I got the Chilean burger and my husband got the BJ house burger and the sea salt and rosemary chips. The burgers were fabulous, fresh sweet bread with fresh ingredients and just the right amount of sauce.
The chips were a stand out, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Great presentation also.
We also got to play Connect Four while we waited for our food.

Had one of the beef burgers with chips and a cider. Foods great and chef is polite. Spent about 27 bucks, I think it could be cheaper but other than that the place is pretty good.
Been there today after walking pass this burger joint since I’ve moved to St Kilda. The burger was pretty good and the bun was on point. Had some really delicious onion rings on the side. Worth the money. Music was a little bit to loud tho, but I will be back!
Best burgers in Melbourne, 10/10 but the only reason why I am giving you a 4 is because of the location. It was the most dodgy thing ever, people were looking to talk to us and just wired.
I finally checked out this place last night and I loved it! I thought I would try something different so I ordered the Wog Boy burger with wagyu beef party, baby lettuce, sliced tomato, roasted grilled peppers, crumbled dodoni feta, extra tzatziki and extra piece of chicken in a Japanese Milk Bun. The burger was amazing and I also had the best mac and cheese I have tried so far so make sure you order the mac and cheese doughnut when you visit this place. Don't forget to try the lovebite drinks as well. My favourite one is the watermelon! I also loved the actual shop, probably one of my favourites. There are games everywhere including a Wii as the owner wanted to create a space where people forget about their phones and actually socialize. LOVE IT!
Ordered multiple items from TBJ Saturday Night via Deliveroo and not one was disappointing. Burger quality was amazing, the Japanese milk bun is something worth trying alone, fries tasted great with the rosemary rub and the onion rings were next level with their paprika coating. Finally the mozzarella cheese sticks, which don’t really need a review because “gooey mozzarella cheese in breadcrumbs”, what more needs to be said!
Overall a great meal and pricing the same as any other burger joint in the area. Couldn’t fault the quality or the quantity. Top marks

This weapon of a burger was from That Burger Joint in St Kilda. Two 150g wagyu beef patties, triple American cheese (I added extra), pickles, American mustard and ketchup. The classic combo was all sandwiched between a Japanese milk bun. I can honestly say this is one of the best burgers I've eaten in the last 12 months, it's most definitely the best double cheesy I've had. The patties were so, so good! I'll definitely return to That Burger Joint, that's for sure... The only negative was that the spuds were a little lackluster.
Potato gems and burger were great! Was looking forward to trying one of their famous Mac & cheese donuts but unfortunately they were all out.
Such a good burger place, usually burger places are similar to grilld and aren't filling enough. This place has real juicy cheesy burgers definitely a place you leave feeling extra full, will come again.
Amazing burgers! We and my partner both got the same burger I believe it was the St Kilda burger and it was so so tasty. For what was in it as well the price wasn't too bad. Quite similar pricing to Fat Jaks up the road.

Over cooked Pattie, hard fried egg, hard to eat. Nice Juicy sauce, but overall a bit average.
Overall place a bit tired and doesn't feel the cleanest if you head past the kitchen out to the toilets. Slow service with just 1 staff member. Friendly though.

OH MAN this was one of the best places i have been too on my fairly new food journey right from the jump made us comfortable we sat down outside and the amazing Simpsons mural was on point the highlight of the meal was the cheesy potato gems and those milkshakes im all smored out please go to st kilda and try these guy its 100% worth the trip in

We've only ever had That Burger Joint burgers via takeaway (Ubereats). That said, they've been HANDS DOWN the best delivered burgers we've had in Melbourne. I have two teen sons and this is their go to pick when it comes to a treat. The burgers are cooked to perfection. The meat is beautiful and they've been layered well. When you open the box the burger looks nice which is really nice especially when you've had it delivered. The chips with the rosemary salt are super yummy.
I can tell that care goes into putting the food together and that means a lot!

Awesome place. Played a bit of Mario kart for a bit before tucking in on my meal, mind you there's also Connect 4, uno, and other boardgames in site.
On order: Bj house burger, hillbilly southern, and chips.
Could certainly improve their buns but I've had worse. The burgers themselves were amazing. You know how it is. Juicy? ✅ Flavour? ✅ Melted cheese? ✅ Not to mention the burg was pretty big, it only lasted about 5 minutes though, pretty much devoured it right after it was served.
If I were in the area, knowing that iddy biddy and la Roche (who both makes good burgers) are both a 2 minute walk away, I'd still go here because it's cheaper than the other 2.
They've got trivia night on Tuesday so I might pop in next week.
Went for the first time last night. I had the BJ burger and my wife had the Chilli burger. Both were delicious. Cooked beautifully. The Wagyu was so succulent, the orher fillings tasty and fresh. No problem with service. Will definitely return.
Best burgers in stkilda by a country mile! Great beer garden. Friendly staff. The chips are top notch. Not a bad word to say about this place.

With only seven burgers on the menu, you know they're gonna be good. Wagyu beef is the base for most, and I highly recommend the Southern fried chicken. The Japanese milk buns are scrumptious. Great staff, great food, and a beer garden or two to boot. I recommend you give them a try.

Went in on a Saturday night. Was treated amazingly. Hooked me up with some free onion rings. The place was top notch. I like to consider myself a burger guy. I would recommend this place to everyone! Enjoy
Came here in desperate search of a worthy burger in my new area – St Kilda. Now, this is a worthy burger, but as usual, I have a few complaints…. I ordered the “House Burger” which is a plain-ish cheesburger type number. The usual suspects – patty, cheese, bun, lettuce and tomato. All these were really nicely done. The patty was a little overdone, and underseasoned, but tasty all the same. The bun – a Japanese milk bun – was a real treat. Loved every morsel. Suprisingly, I wasn’t left wanting for a brioche bun, although most of the milk buns I have tried in the past have hit the spot.

Great burger, super tasty and generously proportioned. Awesome onion rings. For a very good price. Plus the bloke behind the counter was super cheerful, friendly and good at cooking a top notch burger. Will be coming back for round to very soon.
Generous tasty burgers wrapped in foil to keep hot. Chicken meat in the burger aka the "Hillbilly" was deep fried and nicely seasoned. The double cheese burger aka the "Big Yank" would have made Elvis happy with patties cooked to perfection and quality ingredients. Friendly service.
Went there on their second opening night. The staff were friendly and asked us what we thought of their food. It is always nice to see that a restaurant actually cares about what their customers want. Sure, there were a few things that needed to be changed, but something tells me that changes will be made until they perfect their product. Until then, 3.5 stars. I will try again shortly.
Great burgers but they need to pick up their game!. I know they have just opened recently but they really need to speed it up in there. And get eftpos sorted! Also, they still haven't figured out that people need napkins and water. Not that difficult really. The burgers are yum though!! Just wish they would sort out the basics. You could forgive them when they'd just opened but we've been three times now and nothing has changed. Oh and they need to sort out the door - it's ridiculously difficult to open. Not very welcoming! I'm sure business would pick up if people could get in the door.
I tried the B-J House Burger and Sea Salt & Rosemary Crispy Chips tonight. Really good overall considering they have been open a fortnight!
My take away brown paper bag tore on the way home so hopefully they upgrade these eventually :-( but the couple of chips that didn't fall on the ground were delicious - maybe my favourite chips in Melbourne!
The burger was good too, with good sauces, though the beef patty was only in the centre of the bun, not wide enough.. Anyway, I'll be back!
P.S. Did anyone think about naming something with initials BJ? Either they are very innocent or I really should have questioned that delicious sauce ;-)
