Review Good Love - St Kilda

rebekah farnon
We ordered the vegan chicken bacon burgers and were absolutely delighted. Best vegan burger in Melbourne. Perfect cocktails and completely divine service. Everyone was warm, attentive and just awesome. I felt safe physically as all staff were responsibly following covid safe practice. Not to mention how safe and happy I felt surrounded by pretty pink tables and loving values, clearly expressed by the team and owners throughout the venue. Couldn’t recommend more. A gem!

This place is out of this world! A vegan haven full of delicious food, amazing drinks, and such good customer service and knowledgeable and friendly staff! Pink pink pink interior what’s not to love! I took a friend here for her birthday and she was wowed she didn’t know about this place! I’ll be back within the week because now I want to eat my way through the entire menu! Thank you so much for the great experience!!!

(I am not vegan but came here for my mate). It was fantastic vegan food, wholesome, fresh and full of creativity. You might convert me fully. I love the welcoming... Chic Vibe of the place that can easily convert into a really thriving bar. The staff are so happy and caring. Even give you blankets for the outside cold nights...plus I have seen ppl study here. The Chai tea is great!!

This restaurant is super cute and does undoubtedly have some great vegan alternatives, although I have to admit it is overpriced. I couldn’t help but feel very disappointed with my salad this weekend which cost a shocking $22 and was simply assembled with very stingy amount of toppings.

What a fabulous find! After walking my feet to the ankles, I stopped to recharge my battery (metaphorically and literally - my phone was flat) and ordered a chilled wine. Without prompting, I was told it was 2 for 1 happy hour - yippee!. The service was attentive and friendly and, although I couldn't stay for a meal, the food delivered to the nearby diners smelled and looked delicious. A great little find!

Cannot recommend this restaurant more highly! Literally faultless. Delicious vegan eats, cute tasty cocktails, adorable setup and the sweetest of staff (they don't call it Good Love for nothing)! Can't wait to visit again.

Not normally one to do a bad review but the food was below average - as a vegetarian for 5 years I’ve found better veggie food in outback pubs. The sizzling beef is very salty and the garlic prawns didn’t get touched. However, the service was good and got a great bottle of Macedon Ranges Syrah (that’s the 2 stars) Wouldn’t recommend

They have it all! Not only good food, good vibes, but everything they stand for is 💯. Supeeeer nice staffs.

Popped by for a coffee this morning as I was drawn in by the $2 coffee between 8-10am. It was definitely a $2 well spent! Really enjoyed this coffee and like the non dairy milk options.

As it was super hot, the barista offered to make it iced and it was delicious. Good Love may just become one of my regular morning coffee spots.

A group of us were invited to taste our way through some of Good Loves Bottomless Summer menu items & I was honestly blown away!

I’m not vegan however you could have totally have fooled me with how amazing the pepperoni pizza was and how amazing the “KFC” chicken tasted!

To top it off we were spoilt with refreshing jugs of alcohol and it was such a great morning of feasting!

Can’t wait to be back ❤️

We rarely get South of the river but when we do we ALWAYS go to Good Love! The best drinks, staff and atmosphere! Definitely recommend!

ORDER ONE OF THE BOWLS! A solid 4 stars. If I could give half stars it would be 4.5 Persian bowl was super delicious with unique and unexpected flavours and textures. Really fresh. BLT was well executed and tasty, but standard fare. I think their bowls are way more innovative, fresh, healthy and inventive than their burgers, so I can imagine someone who came here and just had the burgers not being blown away, hence I people who have given this place lower ratings. I would advise them to go back and try one of the bowls. They are great!
#vegan

I'm heart broken to give such a review, however, I'm sure they can do a lot better than this!

Service is great! My friend and I came in during downtime between lunch and dinner. The only staff on the floor was very friendly and approachable. The place is nice and cosy and it's a perfect place for couples to go. However, that's where it ends.

Latte was okay. I was feeling for a chocolate drink rather than a full on coffee at the time since it was already 4pm.

Food was average. The mayonnaise and ketchup on my Filthy Philly tasted like store bought condiments. Nothing wow factor. For $19.50, I expect something more. My friend got the mushroom bowl and he seemed to enjoy it.

I definitely would like to return again to give it another chance if some improvements are made since I'm around the area.

I came across Good Love on my Instagram and decided to visit with a friend. They have a gorgeous pink aesthetic, including the plates which I love! A tremendous food selection all cruelty free and delicious hot drinks. The gentleman serving us talked about the hot chocolate selection like fine wine, it was brilliant! (Try the sacred cacao matcha hot chocolate mmmm). I had the kale and zucchini fritters with salsa verde, garlic sauce and rocket which was yum. The staff are lovely and I will definitely be returning!

This restaurant has all the right vibes going on! I love their commitment to bringing people together to try vegan food. The Winter Launch I attended in May was fun & fresh. All of the food & drinks are vegan, which was so surprising because some of the dishes definitely didn’t taste like it!

Situated right near Luna Park, this restaurant is in the perfect location. It has a really funky vibe to it. I love the decor, and especially of the pink!

Being vegan meals, the dishes didn’t feel too heavy/greasy. So I could enjoy all of my favourites with a bit less guilt! My stand out dishes of the night were the pizza & burgers. The pizza had a wide variety of tasty toppings, with a nice thin crust.
The pulled jackfruit burger was so tasty! It almost tasted & felt like real meat. It was covered in a delicious BBQ sauce & was super tasty!
The chips are also really tasty, I couldn’t get enough!

The staff are very warm & friendly. We waited a little while for the food, but considering there was a lot of orders at once, I’m okay with that.

Celebrated my 30th birthday here for lunch with friends.. all of whom are meat eaters. They loved it & so did I! The kfc chicken, pizzas, snack pack were delish & cocktails yummy! Cute new little restaurant. Hope to go back to try the breakfast menu.

Such a cute little spot for some delicious vegan eats, love the funky interior and neon lights. Couldn’t choose between the pizzas but they were both delicious and generous servings, cocktails are on point too!! Will be back again for more

Where do I even start? Good love is a truly wonderful plantbased restaurant that has amazing food, incredible cocktails & even better staff!
The food is next level delicious, innovative and transports you to wonderfully happy plantbased world 🌿✨
In an ideal location right in the heart of St Kilda, Good Love is the perfect place for a few catch up drinks & a delicious vegan feast.
I’ve visited a few times and the times I’ve been I’ve been so impressed by the knowledge that the staff have of the menu, their recommendations and service has always been above and beyond.
My recommendations would be: HSP, egg and bacon brioche, KFC & the sour cocktail!
Definitely a must visit when exploring vegan places in Melbourne, one of my favourite plantbased restaurants.
OK for a quick cheap meal.
Very carb heavy animal product alternatives that are pretty hit and miss in consistency.
The jack fruit in particular ranged from under ripe to over ripe with the occasional seed throw in.

Absolutely love this place - so much variety and such a fun, vibrant menu! I loved the French toast and all their quirky cocktails. Love the ethos behind this great venue too. I will be back!

The vibes are so good at Good Love!

Absolutely lovely staff that were so helpful and attentive! Probably the best customer service I’ve experienced anywhere!

And then the food... OMG soooo delicious! I shared the HSP with added chicken with a friend and we both loved it. I then had a slice of the mushroom pizza which was amazing but maybe could have had a few extra mushrooms on it, although the garlic sauce was the highlight! The Cucumber Collins cocktail was very nice and well priced at only $12.

Overall I had an awesome experience here and I will definitely be back again and again!!

Such a cute little place with such passionate owners! I love that all food and drinks here are locally sourced and made in house, where possible, and everything is cruelty free!

First thing you see when you walk in is the super cool interior, then the warm welcome of the team.

We ordered the Bacon and Egg Brioche and Dank Toast with added bacon with a latte and OJ. To our surprise, the bacon tasted like real bacon! The egg in the brioche was delicious and the Dank Toast was super tasty! The latte was not your average latte either. It was made with a blend of oat and soy milk, which had a really pleasant taste.

Had such a great time and would definitely be back!

Breaks my heart to put down our review for this cute little place; which used to be a bar earlier, that has been transformed into into a complete Vegetarian / Vegan Cafe and Restaurant by the current new owners.

Ordered a Philly Cheese Burger only because it had my two favorites: Jackfruit & Cheese and a Latte.

To my disappointment it was a very very sour affair.....So sour that even a coleslaw or Philly cheese couldn't cut through the acidity. There came a point I couldn't go beyond few morsel. Also, I'd like the Brioche to be slightly toasted.

Coffee was too good...And the only saving grace to clean my sour palate

$19 for soury affair seemed little too much.

Service is warm and friendly .

They have just started and there's always a room for improvisation and I wish then all the very best.

Dylan Thomas and Samantha Schreuder are bringing Good Love to St Kilda, in the form of a cruelty free and totally vegan café/bar.

Having spent years in corporate hospitality, the couple found themselves with time on their hands after their former employer, Bimbo Deluxe, caught fire last year. The place was doing 500 pizzas a day, and the couple excelled in managing the venue, and coordinating events.

They decided the time was ripe to create their own space, and a change of pace was in order. Five months since opening, and Good Love prides itself in its ability to flavour profile, and craft meals that are flavour driven, and ethically made. Everything is made in house, from vegetables and herbs & spices. The pair have control over everything that goes out for consumption, and nothing is sourced from a packet. Its cruelty free, with no mass producers involved in the process, so no slave labour either! Better yet, all ingredients are locally produced.

What I love most about this venture, is that it’s driven by positivity, inclusivity, and a humble approach. The name Good Love was inspired by 80s disco funk tunes, and aims to promote that caring and sharing attitude held by its owners.

Good Love is an experience like no other. While it can be a casual drinks spot on the weekend, they also offer a fully immersive experience, where you are walked through how a dish or a drink was created, and why it was created. As consumers, we are afforded that unique conversation via a customer waiter interaction, so that we begin to think about flavours and the taste experience, and better understand how we consume,

The all vegan menu features everything from the humble Bacon & Egg Brioche; Falafel Bowl; HSP; as well as the popular KFC, which is battered jackfruit made using a secret herbs & spices mix, served on grains and greens with a chilli mayo.

Coffee is roasted by Proud Mary, and there’s a full list of vegan wines, beers, and house infused spirits, such as the house made fig gin. By the way, they also make their own milk, which is a blend of soy and oats, thus bringing out the smooth chocolate tones from the Humbler Blend.

Find them at 56 Acland Street, St Kilda. Just look for the pink Good Love neon light.

Such a great addition to the vegan/vegetarian food scene. The staff are amazing and the food is delicious, egg & bacon roll is a must try along with the pizza!
Hunting For Greens
There’s nothing not to love about Good Love! Everything is vegan, cruelty free & ethically sourced. Personal favourite is the fried chickn & the amazing selection of pizzas (only $5 a slice!) Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner - there’s something for everyone!

Most of the food here is amazing and I need to come back!

The mushroom pizza is absolutely delicious, but could do with more mushrooms, as when ordering a mushroom pizza I expect it to be mostly mushrooms... It was more... Garnished with them haha.

The pepperoni pizza tastes alright but didn't have much pepperoni on it and it was more like hotdog tbh. Had one big thick chunk of tomato on it which was odd. This was the only dish we weren't happy with.

The kfc is AMAZING please never change it. It was the best kfc I've ever had. Jackfruit is a winnnnerrrr in kfc. When I come back I'll be getting that again for sure.

Mushrooms & polenta were good though a bit overpriced.

Deep fried Kresho Bar was great, would love to see it come with a lil scoop of ice-cream.

Drinks are great too, loved the sangria and whiskey iced tea & bf got beer we liked too.
Quince And Cheese
I'm so impressed with Good Love. It's the same owners as Bimbos, so I expected a similar vibe. It is in certain ways (kitschy cute, budget friendly, knowledgeable about veganism), but so much more. First of all, the menu is all vegan and locally sourced. Breakfast and lunch/diner items are all available and options are quite varied.

As anticipated, pizzas make up a big portion of the menu. They are brimming with great ingredients like almond feta and mock meat. Prices are decent at $5 per large slice. But the other items are just as worthy of a try. The KFC, lightly breaded and made with jackfruit, is absolutely incredible. I don't know how they got the texture so meaty but it's right up there with seitan, yet sits much lighter in your stomach.

If you do enjoy more processed mock meats, try the delightfully greasy egg and bacon brioche featuring very convincing vegan egg. Junk food vegans will also love the fully loaded HSP or the bacon and chicken pizza. My personal fave was the chilli zucchini with dairy free parmesan, washed down with a refreshing Cucumber Collins. This place is a vegan dream. My only complaint is that I have to travel all the way to St.Kilda to get there.

I absolutely loved my experience at Good Love! Decor is gorgeous (love the pink)! The team is super cool and friendly. Great vibes! And the food.... oh my goodness! AMAZING.

We tried a smoothie, chicken and bacon pizza, KFC, bacon and egg brioche burger and the DANK French toast.

It all arrived looking vibrant and fresh!
The pizza was delish - the Jackfruit chicken and mock bacon was on point.
We could smell the amazing herbs on the KFC immediately. It tasted so yummy and the texture of the Jackfruit was soooo much like chicken. I don’t know how they do it!?
The bacon and egg brioche bun was everything we dreamed of and more - eggy, cheesy and flavours were great. Salivating just thinking about it.
The Dank toast was our dessert and we were so glad we got it!! The toast itself had some amazing flavours, and it was THICK! Don’t get me started on the cashew cream sauce and maple syrup on top... wow!

I need to go back ASAP and try more dishes! Thanks Good Love for amazing hospitality and food!

Having never been to a vegan restaurant, I was excited to try something new. Obviously I’ve had vegan food before, but not to the point where they turn your staple non-vegan items into vegan versions.

This cafe is very trendy, and in an awesome location too! They don’t promote themselves as vegan, and honestly you wouldn’t even know it was from some of the dishes. It’s disappointing to hear people put their nose up at vegan food. I’m a meat eater, but I’m open to eating and trying different foods. It’s sad to hear from the staff there are some serious d***heads out there who complain when they realise (clearly can’t read) it’s vegan.

Anyway, just needed to rant about that. The food was very flavoursome. One thing about vegan food, they put a lot more flavour into their food to really get a great taste from the meal. We had French Toast, it was full of spices, and recommend trying this dish if you’re a sweet tooth, but it’s not overly sweet. We then had the falafel bowl, which was really tasty, a little bit too salty, but this makes up for the salty (and they have enough salty people coming in the doors as it is). Plus, the Philly Cheese steak, I really liked this. It was using jack fruit, and it really tasted yummy!

Highly recommend trying, you hardly can tell it’s vegan. You feel full after, but satisfied!

What an absolute delight to pop along and check out Good Love in sunny St Kilda. A wonderful, balanced menu with lots of delicious cruelty free (and vegan) treats.

I throughly enjoyed the Falafel, Dank Toast and the Philly Cheesesteak. I did find it slightly oversalted but it didn’t hinder the taste of the dishes.

The Falafel was a rainbow, with delicious purée of carrot and beetroot plus the most amazing almond feta!
The Dank Toast was interesting, I loved the presentation with layers of orange and toast with delicious maple and cinnamon.
EVERYONE needs to try the Philly Cheesesteak, it’s made with jackfruit and you wouldn’t know it’s meatless.

I LOVED this place, good vibes and a perfect setting. You can even buy merchandise!!
Luke
Egg and bacon roll was great.
Pizza was dry and tasteless
HSP was average, nut mince doesn’t go well with it.
A few changes and it could be a nice vegan place.

I love this new cafe in St Kilda and I’m not even a vegan! It has excellent coffee, attentive staff and really delicious food. I would have liked a bigger serve but that’s often a problem when the food is of high quality. I’ll be back for sure!

Delicious pizza with a unique wholemeal base made in-house served by friendly staff in a cool interior with positive vibes. Good love indeed!

I came to this wonderful establishment a couple of weeks ago and CANNOT get it out of my MIND! It was AMAZING. There are soooo many vegan options that literally just take like NORMAL and BEAUTIFUL FOOD! I cannot recommend the mac n cheese more and getting at least one slice of pizza is a MUST (.....okay maybe two slices hehe). Very affordable and great vibezzz. Thank you for an amazing night!
