The truffle fries were delicious
Great experience. Burger with brie cheese was absolutely delicious and my vegan friend really appreciated the full vego menu they offer. Also had a tasting paddle with some amazing beers, one tasted of peanut butter and it was very good.
Loved the unique variety of burgers that exceeds expectations! Would definitely stop by every time I come down to St Kilda Beach! 🏖
Such a wonderful place to hang out with friends on a warm Saturday afternoon!
Love their burgers and loaded fries! 😍🤤
Fair prices, great taste and super friendly staff!
A MUST MUST try for all the burger lovers out there!
The dishes were absolutely incredible! Perfectly hot chips and mouthwatering burgers! Thanks so much
Everyone has that burger place that you find, that amazing burger shop that just know what they are doing, a place that you will go out your way just to get a burger because they are so good! Monroe’s Burgers & Beers is one such place and many have made the journey out to Healesville to get one of their tasty burgers for this reason. Not mention if you’ve checked out their Instagram @monroesburgers you know they match up to what you get when you walk in. So, when a place like Monroe’s opens up a new place in St Kilda, you would hope they stack up against the original.
So, we had to find out for ourselves, we decided to try them both within a couple of weeks of each other. We decide to heading over to Healesville first to check out the original before we checked out their new place in St Kilda.
To keep it fair we ordered the exact same thing at both places. What did we have you ask?
I can't wait to make this a regular destination this Summer! This burger venue could actually not tick more boxes if it tried! From the friendly staff to the high quality ingredients to the open outdoorsy setting, it's one of the best burger destinations I've visited in Melbourne.
My partner and I dropped by on a sunny Sunday afternoon right after the busy period (around 2pm). I was greeted by a completely vegan/vegetarian menu, paired with their standard menu. When you usually have the choice of just one or two burgers (as a vegan), being met with a multitude of options is beyond exciting. I chose The Tribute, which was finger-lickingly good (if you get what I mean).
My partner selected the Swine Time.. and had absolutely no regrets about his decision. Usually swayed by a fried chicken burger, he decided to branch out after the owner emphasised the quality of their prime beef (something that sets this location apart from other burger venues). My partner couldn't agree more upon tasting one of their classic beef burgers.
Of course, we had to tryboth types of fries too (chunky and thin cut) as well as a couple of cool beverages too. From start to finish, this was the ultimate relaxed, smooth and enjoyable dining experience. I couldn't recommend it more!
newly opened in St Kilda, Monroe’s burger game is certainly strong! we lover the “daddy Mac” special which was deeeelicious! If you’re keen on burgers with a twist, you’d be crazy not to check them out! Their dessert fries are also insanely amazing- if you’re a peanut butter and Nutella lover then they have your name all over it! A relaxed ambience with an extensive beer menu, you won’t regret the visit!
We were kindly invited to Monroe’s Burgers to try their delicious food. We ordered the special ‘Dirty Secret’ burger which was 24 hr hickory smoked beef brisket, Southern fried chicken, fresh ground prime beef, streaky bacon, cheddar cheese, chipotle spiced pickles, honey bbq sauce and Alabama white bbq sauce in between milk buns. OMG it was amazing! The beef brisket was fatty, tender, melt-in-the-mouth and to die for. I would buy it and eat it on its own if they sold it separately. The milk buns were soft and fluffy and delicious and held the contents perfectly - the fried chicken was juicy and tender and the bacon was crispy and savoury. The cheese was liquid goodness. The beef patty was cooked medium and was super juicy. Every item in the burger complimented each other and the flavours were well-balanced. We also ordered the ‘Dirty South’ burger which was fried chicken, fresh ground prime beef, cheddar cheese, spicy pickles, bbq sauce, Alamaba white bbq sauce and streaky bacon. It was also amazing. I love how the burgers were so easy to pick up and eat without everything falling out of it and with juice dripping all over my hands - it’s as if they engineered the burgers perfectly. The three cheese and truffle loaded fries were very moreish and had a great strong truffle flavour and we just could not stop eating them. My mind is blown and this is now my favourite burger joint. Thank you so much Monroe’s for a great feed - I highly recommend this place!
A solid burger feed in the heart of Stkilda. Loved the beef burger and the amazing loaded fries with pulled beef!
UNDISPUTEDLY HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST
Monroe's has been on our Food Map for so long but being in Healesville, we never really had the opportunity to "pop in". And then we got the news - they opened in St Kilda.
And so we rushed in one Sunday afternoon and thankfully there were some seats for us to sit. We were like kids in a candy store and ordered soooo much.
And it was all worth it.
The beef and chicken burger is AMAZING, our favorite. We really also enjoyed the vegan menu that they have; it is very clever and the mushroom burger with truffle that we had was really tasty too.
Highlight of it all; the truffle fries. OMG, you all need to get buckets of those when you go in, they are unreal.
What can we say? We can't wait to go back in.
Grugs absolute favourite burger place
We were invited in for burgers and beer at the recently opened Monroe’s Burgers on Acland Street St Kilda. With a similar menu to the often packed out Healsville location this location fits in nicely in the neighbourhood offering a variety of meat based and a substantial vegetarian and vegan based menu.
They have some great beer on tap and many also available by bottle and can. I tried a schooner of Hazelnut Brown Ale from Bad Shepherd while I decided on my meat based burger.
We started with an entree of Cheeseburger fries, these thick cut chips arrived with liquid cheddar, cheeseburger sauce and lovely quality diced bacon. That liquid cheese was terrific, a cracking combo, once you start you just can’t just stop which might be why I had to add this to my burger of choice.
I picked the Smoky Texan and added melted cheese as an option. Fresh ground prime beef, chipotle mayo extra streaky bacon, pickled red onion and Tom relish. That with the pour over cheese was something special indeed. Patty was cooked medium so slightly pink but let them know if we’ll done is your preference.
KD was tempted by The Deep South (southern fried chicken burger) , the succulent chicken had a lovely crispy coating, and a great dual sauce combo, the hidden gem in this dish is the pleasant level of heat from the chipotle spiced pickles, they were sooooo good.
Overall and impressive menu and great beer options (jugs, tasting paddles). A welcome addition to the busy St Kilda locale.
Thanks so much for having us in.
This is a pretty chill place and would be great for a group hang out. Friendly staff. The burger patty was a bit on the saltier side so it wasn't really for me. The El Diablo I ordered wasn't really spicy at all but some might like it. I'd give the burger itself 3 stars but the whole environment and service was pretty good. And they also had Metallica on so 4 stars.
These were the best burgers we’ve had in recent memory. Our Double Cheezus Deluxe, Swine Time, large beer battered hand cut chips, aioli and a $10 jug of beer came to just $48. On the downside, table service could be better and the atmosphere is somewhat austere; they could do with some pop art on the bare walls.

Such a great experience! Juicy and tasty burgers!
Mac and cheese croquettes are delicious as well .
Variety of craft beer.! Waitress they all pretty and charming .
I’ll be definitely back
Tip : the spicy sauce they have is really spicy .
Ask any Australian / Melbournian abot Monroe's Burger and Beers and they will only one adjective 'Excellent', unanimously.
Monroe's need no introduction like legends need no fame. Ever since they have started they have, time and again, reinvented themselves, successfully grown and have efficiently served best burgers.
Very recently, they have opened a branch in St Kilda, and why would we have waited to visit them? Also, they provide Zomato Gold membership privileges.
Ordered their Special burger of the day but a smaller version that had onion ring, beef patty cooked to medium, mayo, etc and a Chicken Burger.
Can easily declare, both the burgers can be easily adjudged as the Dishes of the Day. Flavours, juicest meat and beautiful dressings.
Service could be little slow but food and happy attendants make-up for the long wait.
Even when the special 'Burger of the day' does not qualify for the Zomato Gold Offer, the manager was quite accommodating and happy to include it into the offer. That's 'service' when one hasnt able to clarify the offer clearly.
Vegans / Vegetarians do not have plenty to choose from. Prices are quite decent for the quality you pay for.
Definitely returning again.

I can't even deal with this burger 😍 had me drooling on so many levels! Every bite was an injection of pure serotonin into my bloodstream 💉 the already amazing fried chicken is coated in a ridiculous Nashville hot sauce that packs soooo much flavour! 🤤 Add some long sweet pickles and lettuce, Alabama white BBQ sauce and mustard mayo between some buns and you're in burger heaven! ⭐ The balance of flavours is amazing! Simple combination of quality ingredients! 😧 Gorgeous BURG! I could easily have one of these bad boys everyday! 👏🏼 Oh and those gems... Don't even get me started 😳
.
💡TIP - this specimen was a limited time menu item! ⌚ I'm hoping this burger makes its way back onto the menu at some point, cause I'll be there no doubt! 😏
.
Delicious burgers!! Highly recommend 😊
The cheeseburger fries were also pretty good although they were a little too salty imo, and even more salty with the bacon.
Monroe's came down to Sydney for a the burger expo and I just had to try 'The Tribute' because how could you say no to a burger that consist of pulled pork AND baby ray's bbq sauce. Unfortunately they were out of onions but I felt like that would've brought the burger over the top! I also ordered the mac and cheese, which in my opinion was in need of a good sprinkle of salt.
Visited Monroe's Burgers & Beer in St Kilda over the weekend to try their weekly special - Nashville Hot Burger
We tried the Nashville Hot Burger and a paddle of beer. Both we're fantastic!
Only downfall was we we're unable to use Zomato Gold on their specials!
We came here for a meal after looking through the burger options on Zomato and wanted to try my new Zomato Gold membership.
We were not disappointed.
The staff were friendly, the service was fast and food was tasty!
Price wise compared to some burger places, it was a little higher but in saying that - you get what you pay for and the quality was top notch.
The owner came and said hi and seemed like a really friendly guy which is nice compared to some of the miserable staff we’ve encountered at these places in Melb. Snaps to you mr owner.
They have a comprehensive menu for vegans and I think you’d be hard up not finding a burger to enjoy. I highly recommend the BBQ sauce - it was so smoky and tasty!!!
My only criticism if I was being picky would be the walls are a little bare but that’s the “look” and I’m sure any millennial would find it very pleasing. I’m just getting old!
Overall great food, great place and worth the visit.
Amazing burger. We had the special with double patty and brisket. One of the rare times I can eat a big burger without all the contents falling out. Will visit again!
