Review Chicken Episode - St Kilda

Danny Truong
Was a great experience visiting St Kilda. Amazing Korean fried chicken! The staff was friendly and kind. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food. Tried delivery as well, taste pretty good still though having it on spot was a lot better!

This food is DISGUSTING. Absolutely the worst Korean fried chicken I've ever had. The chicken is bone cold and swimming in oil (please see pictures). There's a layer of hard chicken fat in the bottom of the container and on the chicken itself. It's soggy and has absolutely no texture. The chips, also stone cold, also soggy, are covered in a weird hard layer of gravy. The 'coleslaw' had about 20mL of a mystery liquid in it. Do not buy food from here. So much good Korean chicken around to receive this mess.

Good place to have a big portion of fried chicken. The service is very quick, the staff is okay. The size of the meals is okay, but the burger it's not so good, the bread is not so fresh. Beside of that, is okay. Prices are okay and the new location is convenient as well 👍

We ordered through Uber Eats, we ordered chicken, chips and dumplings. Delivery was within reasonable time however the chips and dumplings were stone cold. Chicken was tepid and just edible. I'm sure the food would have been delicious if hot but despite the fact our order arrived fairly quickly, it was cold. Not ordering from here again.

Ordered soy garlic chicken, it came cold! Not luke warm, but cold. I was in a rush to get home after a long day so decided to try to heat it up. Bad idea. Now it’s just a mucky oil soaked piece of unidentifiable meat product. I’d expect deep fried food to come hot! Then again, it was ready 20secs after I ordered it. Not fresh, not worth the time or money. WORST CHICKEN place in stkilda!!!!! Won’t go back!

Best Korean fried chicken in town (even in the country). First time dine in after countless takeaways. Our favourite garlic soy and 3 cheese & herb taste even better in the restaurant~

They claim to be second best chicken but I believe its safe to say they are the best in the area by far! The chicken burger is out of this world, service was very quick and friendly despite the place was packed with uber drivers A new favorite

This was my favourite fast food spot in all of Melbourne. I got some for dinner but discovered my taro boba had been made with spoilt milk and tasted so sour it was almost savoury. It made me worry about their other health safety practices.

Americanise Korean fried chicken.

Up there with the best fried chicken in town. The original flavour is very well done, chicken cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside but not greasy at all, seasoned well. I was a bit disappointed with the chips. Good value.

My new favourite place for fried chicken, loved the original and Lucifer spiced chicken. Their coleslaw was also above average.
Unlike KFC, chicken was not greasy. A big thumbs up from me.

Definitely the best Korean fried chicken I've had in Melbourne. Fresh, crispy, juicy and so many flavours to choose from. Chips with cheese and gravy are a must along with the chicken burger.

Ordered the 4 pieces of chicken chips and a drink.
I wouldn’t call this Korean fried chicken as it isn’t a juicy or crispy as other Korean fried chicken places such as gami, Sam same or even nene chicken. Serving is generous however chips were over seasoned to the point we had to shake the seasoning off.

I tried ordering a couple of times from their sister branch in Docklands and it's by far the best KFC I had in Melbourne. I was devastated to find out that chicken epsiode 2 is closed.

Chicken Episode

Yum yum yum yum , I have never had "Korean Fried Chicken" didn't know it was a thing , is it ? It is basically fried chicken covered in Korean style sauces, I ain't hate'n it's really good.

I got the "Where's the other half" which is 7 pieces of chicken, some fries, and a can of coke. The sauces I tried were garlic soy and sweet chili, mmmmmm, oh ya I got a side of the coleslaw, I think they only charged me $2 , check out the picture, it's real small, the menu says $5 ! I hope this is not the $5 size, it was really good nevertheless, not overly wet , good crunch, I'm talking about the slaw. The chicken was good too, but who knows when it was made. They pulled it out from a pile of chicken in the window, was not hot , right at room temp. Like I said it was good. I would have given a 5 star if the chicken was fresh.

Small shop, not much seating, don't go during sunset because the sun comes right in !!! Soo bright and hot.

Over all really good, $20 and we were full, I will be returning for sure!

Thanks

Absolutely loved it. Took one of my favourite good, Korean fried chicken, and added a twist to it. My personal favourite is the Lucifer spice but the garlic soy was wonderful as well. Their fries in gravy was delicious and they have some weird items like fried mars bars on their menu which I'm going to try 1 day just for the sake of it.

We have had it three times now and whilst it is OK it is far from great. My advice is stick to the chicken, the other options are generally not great.

Good:
Chicken minions are popcorn chicken done right.
Coleslaw is great.
Chips good, seasoning powder on the sweet side
Fried chicken is great, however they slather the meat with sauce so it becomes a soggy mess, especially in the burgers. I know it's the Korean way but its not balanced for my tastes.

Bad:
Chicken schnitzel burger is made of gross processed meat.
Beef burger also overly processed with sausage mince consistency.

Upadte: the chicken burgers are really really good without the special sauce, like one of the best chicken burgers EVER good, try it!
My go to place for Fried chicken,
not as greasy as KFC, actually don't feel too guilty eating their chicken.
I usually ask for breast parts and they are very generous with the portion.
Few chicken shops around stkilda, but here is my number 1.

I gave them a 4 due to too many delivery drivers in the way.

It was so tempting to have a Korean Fried chicken shop close by where we live.. Craving for so long but do not dare to take on that much calories, finally tonight we gave them a try lol.

We order
5 pieces of Fried chicken with sweet chilli source and cheese&herb source
Fried sweet potato chips with Lucila spice source
Lucila chicken wings
Chicken popcorn

Cost around 30aud

Good value.

And surprisingly they all tasted very good!
All sources have unique flavors compared to other fried chicken shop, and they are all quite tasty.
The coating of fried chicken, chicken wings and chicken popcorns are just at the right thickness, which allows a wonderful texture. It’s all crispy outside but still juicy inside.

Sadly not the best experience. Ordered through foodora- devils fried chicken burger and fries with gravy and cheese. Fries were fine but the burger was soggy and all I could taste was chilli powder smeared onto the un-toasted burger buns. Not pleasant to eat and especially disappointing as a korean person expecting an authentic “korean fried chicken” burger with proper flavouring.

We had some chicken with cheese and herbs, and fries with gravy, the cheese and herb 'sauce' wasn't a sauce at all, it was a bit of melted cheese on the chicken (not a fan).
It was ok, not terribly exciting but not bad either.
Quite average.

My go to place for Korean Fried Chicken Delivered! Honestly for the times that I have ordered delivery from ubereats from this place, I haven't been disappointed once.

Usually get the "found my other half" or the "where is my other half". Both are great value and taste options (thumbs up).

Highly recommended if you're in the area or for a quick takeaway delivery! haven't yet found a place better at the moment for delivery, keen to try other places!

I have been to Chicken Episode four times. I like their Lucifer Wings. They are affordable and tasty. I have not tried their sides or burgers, this review is purely based on their chicken. Lucifer Spice and 3 Cheese and Herb had nice flavours but the sauces and seasonings made them soggy. Sweet Chilli and Garlic Soy were nice and crispy. The chicken packs are priced affordably BUT my biggest complaint were the pieces of chicken themselves. Maybe it was bad luck or maybe this is how but I mostly received flat pieces that were of mostly bone and batter with a very thin layer of meat. It's at though the chickens were deboned for the boneless pieces and the bone pieces with tiny meat on them were fried up and served.

Had a great vege burger from here today. The way the cheese was grilled into the burger was amazing, the pineapple was a nice addition and the vege patty wasn’t crumbly. The entire thing held together and didn’t fall apart. Pretty high quality I reckon. Would go again.

We’ve been ordering from them for a few months. Started off great and slowly got worse.
Had a break and stopped ordering for a month and decided to order again on Saturday during the afternoon.

Chips came double or triple dipped (you can tell by the potato inside and fluffiness).

Chicken was dead, way too dead. Had to have been fried a few times because there was no meat left on the wing, only f$&king crunchy skin.

The quality is dead here now.

Chicken bland...paid 2 $ for the Lucifer sauce and all I had was a dried spice mix not even a lot just a sprinkle..not a sauce .so disappointed..kind of rude Korean guy was complaining about the chilli being expensive..joker.. The girl at the counter didn't speak much English.

DO: The Chicken. Duh. Super spicy was my favorite.

DON’T: Forget the loaded fries. So good yet so bad hahah

TIP: They deliver via UberEATS. Woot. Laziness levels reached.

Definitely not first and NOT second...it is the last chicken episode ever.

We have ordered 3 times from this place and never again!

Yes the chicken was crispy but definitely not the best cut of chicken. It was either chicken pieces were full of of bone or, if boneless, has congealed blood around the joint. GROSS!

Chips were insipid too!

For the price you pay you might as well order chicken from Bells (Windsor).

It's...Good. We had the ginger soy and Lucifer flavours. The GS was nice, but on the 'very' side of sweet. The Lucifer was nice and hot, but a sprinkling of hot spices, rather than a sauce/rub. The sweet potato fries were delicious and more-ish. Reasonable value for money, good food - chicken. Was the expected mix of boney and succulent pieces that you get with fried chicken. Would order again, but am not raving to friends about it.

The service is good. I got two flavor. The garlic soy are delicious! The sweet chilies are just fine. Six pieces, not too expensive. Gonna try other flavor next time.

We drive past here everyday and after 3 months decided to finally drop in and try their chicken.
Was Sunday evening and they were quiet busy but managed to order thru all the delivery drivers -_-;;

For 3 people we ordered:

14 pieces combo with garlic soy
Lucifer wings
Bottle of soju and some cass!

Chicken was served with 2 small coleslaw.
Very crispy and juicy chicken!, very nice flavors on the garlic soy sauce!
however
The lucifer wings were a bit too spicy for me but was crispy also.

The portion was quiet large so we couldn't finish between the 3 of us,
but we also ordered a 4 piece cheese flavour combo for takeaway to eat later.

Definately worth the visit.

Literally my favorite Uber eats, it makes me happy every time I eat it. Order often and has been perfect every time. Thanks for the top service!!

Expect to get bad cuts like necks. You're paying for bones than actual chicken meat. Sauce-wise you might as well just get them from Asian grocers instead of paying $3 extra. Would not recommend.
One of the worst experiece for korean fried chicken.
We ordered 11pieces of chicken for delievery.
It was soggy.
And whole chicke was just left over parts of chicken. Most of them are wings and bones without less meat. Where are big chunks of chicken breast and legs? Arent they supposed to send a more meat of chicken when i paid $27?? How much cost for a chicken?
I am sure they use chicken breast for other dish.
As a korean and a chef, i am, they just send me left over from what they have in kitchen.
Its not worth for the price i paid.
The Taco Cat
Another UberEats order.

Not a big fan of this. The fried chicken became way too soggy by the time it arrived and it was packaged in such a way that it could only go wrong. It was in cardboard packaging with a layer of foil, then the chicken inside it. Moisture is the enemy of fried foods and foil does a great job at trapping moisture.
It does get marks for being generous though. What I ordered can literally feed 3 people and that was a single lunch option. Korean chicken is usually cut into medium sized pieces and I got large KFC breast sized pieces instead. The chips had a nice chicken gravy to go with it but again, the foil ruined it.

We just ordered Chicken Episode on UberEATS. The chicken is great. Chips with gravy and cheese is okay but gravy could have more flavour. Also - a ranch or blue cheese sauce would be great with the chicken!
