We got delivery to our house and the food was beautiful. It was hot, fresh good portions and full of flavour. The cottage cheese and potato dumpling curry was amazing as well as the Dhal and chicken Tikka. Highly recommend this joint.
Great Indian restaurant for some take away, loved the first time we went that we came back the same week. My partner liked the chicken Biriani, also highly recommend the mango chicken, I thought the Palek paneer was lacking flavour and not enough paneer ( cottage cheese) could do with some more in the large! Also decent size samosa,s I really enjoyed the vegetarian with the sweet sauce provided but need to ask for it, would be better if they offered it as we forgot the first time. All in all great place and service just a few improvements 😊
The Food:
I've been a Nullfaur customer for a year now. Their quality of food went downhill last year. But over the past few months their food has greatly increased in quality, just like I use to remember it. I was contacted by management to give my suggestions. I'm glad to know they appreciated my opinion and improved their dishes. The quality is now 10/10. Their vegetarian options are amazing especially the Thali, aloo gobi, palak paneer, daal, mixed vegatbles and naan bread. Their vegan options are some of the best I've had in Melbourne. They have a selection of wines and indian beers to enjoy food with.
The venue:
A small venue with a seating of 12 approx. Not the best for a romantic date or a fine dining experience, it's a casual venue. It does get very busy here and therefore noisy at times.
The people:
Very friendly. I was blown away by the manager, I didn't get his name but he is a young man with brilliant customer service skill. I always get great service here and any issues are immediately resolved.
Overall:
Glad to see Nullfaur valuing their customers suggestions, they really care. Not the best venue, but the food and service blows me away everytime.
I've been coming here for 3 years now. The service was excellent and the quality of the food was brilliant at the start, the curries were very flavorsome and rich. But somewhere in the middle the quality went down. The curries became more watery and blander than usual. I thought it was a one off thing but it continued happening. The service became more rushed and I noticed newer staff who didn't seem to care about providing quality customer service. I gave up on Nullfaur then.
It was after a few months that I noticed Nullfaur was much more active on social media. They made a post and mentioned that they were open to any customer feedback and suggestions. I sent them a message and expressed how I felt about Nullfaur's recent lack of food and service quality. I got a reply from them and I could clearly see the care they showed for their customers. They remembered me and even my exact order! They said they've collected a ton of feedback and have worked on fixing all previous issues and invited me to visit again. I decided to give Nullfaur another chance and I went in the next day. I was greeted with a big smile from the manager and had a great conversation with the staff at the counter who were all very friendly. I could see my order being prepared fresh from where I was standing, the aroma was incredible and I had a feeling Nullfaur was back.
I was right. I took home what I must say was one of the best Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Prawn Curry I've ever had. No more watery and bland curries. These were rich, full of flavour, just like I remembered Nullfaur to be. I've ordered almost everyday since then and each time I'm delighted by the food and service!
I would urge all new customers to ignore the previous reviews here as they are BEFORE when Nullfaur decided to fix things up. They've made a lot of changes in their food and their service in the past few weeks and they certainly deserve another chance. They've shown true business spirit of positively taking feedback and working on it, good job Nullfaur.
Yummm!! Fast, cheap and delicious! I love the casual authenticity of this place and how they always have some snacks in teh bainmarie, will return again and again for the thalis
One of my favorite local spots!
Cheap prices, great food and they deliver!
Loads of veggie options too and the banana lassies are perfect. Dinning in you can have the Thaili and a beer for $15 😍😍
The Vegetarian Wrap was delicious - the bread so light and fluffy, the filling warm and fresh with beautiful balance of crispy and soft, hot and sweet. And so cheap!
Some of the tastiest Indian food I've eaten. Run by a friendly family, the decor inside is average at best, but the food they produce is incredible, plus they deliver!
One of my regular places.
This is the best Indian I have eaten in Melbourne, hands down. Very authentic and really affordable. Under $30 for starters, curries & rice for two people to take away. The flavours are excellent and not too much spice and definitely not oily food. I love the fact you can choose your level of spice. The chicken korma was delicious as was the chicken tikka masala. Both the samosas and onion bhaji's are outstanding. Looking forward if working my way through the menu. Being from England, I know a good curry and this is fantastic.
I am reviewing purely the food and nothing about the ambience or aesthetics of the shop. The food is great and rich here. Yes I would say the portions might be a bit small, nothing too small, but they are also less expensive which explains it. I recommend you eat in as take away can colden and less amplify the quality of food especially with naans. Chicken korma was great, naans are some of the best I've had anywhere and daal makhani was the best. A tip would be to let these guys know if you want spicy extra spicy or mild and minimal oil. Only because, every customer wants the same thing but made differently.
If i would rate on shop aesthetics and ambience it'll be a very low and unfair rating as its a small business.
Things that make you go mmmm. We ordered Nullfaur's for dinner through menulog this evening. They were 20 minutes late, so I gave them a call to check on delivery, they were so apologetic and advised due to the rain they had had an influx of orders and that our order would arrive shortly, which it did. The delivery guy was also very apologetic. I mention this because I think the strength of a business is how they handle situations like this, and these guys were great. We've been to Nullfaur's a couple of times for lunch and have found the staff to be absolutely lovely. Now on to the food! We ordered 3 small dishes to try a few different things, we had the mango chicken, lamb saag and dhalia chicken and bread and rice....wow, each dish was incredibly flavoursome, creamy and intense, so much than you'd expect given how cheap these guys are. The only downside is I might need to buy bigger jeans soon.
Amazing Indian at an affordable price. What are the odds of two fantastic indian restaurants located within minutes of each other? While Babu Ji is a great, modern take on the indian restaurant, Nullfaur is the best traditional indian food I have eaten, at very reasonable prices.
If you are hanging for some great indian takeout for a lazy Sunday night, I can't think of a better place to visit. Try the Lamb Dopiaza if you aren't sure what to get, it is delicious.
Best curry I've ever had!. Seriously. This place. From the first time I ate there I knew it was something special. Not only is the food totally amazing (Seriously, try it) but the service is fantastic. I hope they're around for a long time. I'd hate to see them go!
