Review St Kilda Burger Bar - St Kilda

Third time here at the Grosvenor hotel, has been different food experience each time. All pretty good. This was our last visit. Layout of the venue is well presented, open bar with spot for band at one end and restaurant at the other. Had lady playing solo Acoustic this night. Décor is still pretty decent. Entrée tonight was four good size pieces of the Buttermilk Fried Chicken, (See pic), We quickly eat two... These came out fire hot, were cooked to perfection, chicken was tender, with beautiful crumbs on the outside. Very decent sizes and could be shared by four people as a quick bite. Mains were Parma and Fish and Chips. Parma was what I consider stock Aussie Pub standard (still very good). Shoe String fries were spot on and the salad, been salad had a nice dressing that completed the meal. Fish and Chips were good, Fish was presented different and taste was on point. Same as Parma, Fries and Salad were very good. Drinks . Beer is what it is, Lemon Lime and Bitter was a med size - good taste. Service was quick and pleasant without been over the top. Good night out overall.

One of the worst meals I've had in a while. I'd been working a lot interstate and hadn't seen my son for a while so thought I'd take him out for a nice meal. I specifically asked for salad without onions. Oh, our salads don't come with onions said the waitress. Not only did the salad come with onions (causing the salad to remain uneaten by myself) but our steaks came covered in mushroom sauce which neither of us like. Who does that? Everywhere I've ever been ask first whether you want sauce on your steak and if so what kind? Not at this Hotel, you just get mushroom sauce whether you like it or not. I had to scrape it off my steak best I could but then didn't enjoy the steak after that. Asked my son how his meal was and he said I wish they hadn't put mushroom sauce all over my steak Dad, it's my least favourite sauce. When I raised all of this with the waitress, all she had to say was ''sorry about that', prior to taking full price from me. Your waitress had no idea about the onions being served up and was completely oblivious to how unhappy we were. Won't ever be coming back. Complete waste of time and money not to mention the embarrassment, when all I wanted was for my son to have a special night.

Our family have always been big fans of the Grosvenor. But our recent experience was very very average. We were eating in the dining room and without exaggeration we had to leave our table to find a waiter on 5 occasions. No one looked in the room during our whole meal unless we got up and asked for help. We had to find someone to give us a menu. We had to find someone to take our order. We had to find someone to get our drinks on two occasions. We had to find someone to ask where our food was. The tip jar was completely empty and we can understand why. The tuna entree was excellent. Pizza was good. We ordered a 120.00 steak with two sides. The salad was brought to the table after we nearly finished the meal. We had to find someone to get mustard and tomato sauce by the time it arrived the steak was close to eaten. Unfortunately even though food was fine there was zero service. Normally this restaurant is packed we got this service when the restaurant was 50% empty. Not sure if new staff were on or what. So yes good food, but non existent service on this particular night.

One of the best steaks I ever had! The chef told someone at my table that she definitely ordered the steak she would never order because she always gets the same thing and he wouldnt back down which changed the mood of the table and her steak didn't look good. That was disappointing. Service was good

Not good...menu very eclectic. ..we settled for a chicken Parma and a hamburger...what could go wrong.. the chicken was a little pink and we asked the waitress if it was cooked...she came back and said it was cooked to the right temperature and was OK...my husband only had a small portion of it as everyone knows chicken needs to be cooked until white...my burger was cold but I didn't complain after the answer we got with the Parma...fingers crossed we are not ill tomorrow...won't be going there again...

Worst pub I’ve ever been to in my life. Manager with the floral shirt was insanely rude and tried to charge us 400 more than what we ordered . Waited an insane amount of time for pretty average food on a table that nearly fell over multiple times. Pretty pathetic for what looked like a nice place

We visited on a Tuesday night to take advantage of the Tuesday $25 steak deal. Interestingly, there was no sign or mention of this special. If you didn't know about it beforehand, it wasn't offered to you at all. I suggest you look ahead to see which specials they have on, for example Thursday nights are $15 pizza nights. The three of us ordered our steaks, two medium rare and one medium. They come with a side salad and chips, and a small jug of pepper sauce. Although there are a number of sauces available on the menu, for the steak special you are limited to pepper sauce only. Fair enough but to be honest it wasn't a great pepper sauce. I don't often order pepper sauce (I far prefer mushroom or garlic sauce) but this one was quite harsh, and tasted more like white pepper than black or green peppercorn. It failed the chip-dip test (how does it taste on a chip dipped into it). It just really wasn't a great pepper sauce. The salad was ok but I found mine to be a bit gritty, like it hadn't been washed properly. It was generously dressed with a vinegarette, maybe even a little too generously. The steaks were well cooked. Mine looked slightly past medium rare but it was as soft as butter and delicious so I didn't mind at all. My wife complained that hers was very salty. She doesn't like a lot of salt so I tasted it to check and it was quite over seasoned. Even I thought it was a touch too salty, and I add salt to just about everything I eat. Overall it was a pleasant meal but let down by a few small, easy-to-fix issues. It probably deserves 3.5 stars but Google doesn't do half stars...

Hosted a private function there on the weekend. The room was lovely and the food was fantastic, we had multiple compliments from guests on the quality of the food. Highly recommended
