Love this restaurant! Often go there and also get takeaways frequently, highly recommended and they have the yummiest vegan cakes !
The lunch buffet is the best. Staff are always super friendly and helpful. The cakes are awesome!
Great vegan food and amazing cakes!!!
Satay skewers and not chicken shangtung were super awesome! Will go again!
I love eating here. Every time I am in Sydney I enjoy knowing that I can eat anything on the menu karma free.
Amazing vegan food and friendly service the best vegan place on the north shore!
Went to this place because I loved the Newtown one. St Leonard’s is better on my opinion, close to the station, less crowds more attention to the customers.
Such friendly customer service. The BBQ buns are to die for. Pretty reasonable prices for the serving sizes as well. I highly recommend if you are after vegan Asian cuisine.
Great find in St Leonards. Must have passed it a few times.
I had the eggplant and the soup, both fantastic.
Highly recommend to visit not only if you are vegan or vegetarian.
Was recommended to try this vegan gem and feeling very happy after filling myself!
Started with spring rolls and quinoa vegetable buns and dumplings - could taste the freshness and care put into the construction.
The Lion King’s Claypot - one of my favourite things I’ve tried this year - paired with Sichuan Eggplant and Singapore Noodles. The clay pot has so much goodness - was blown away by the Taro “meatballs”, shiitake mushrooms and the flavour in the sauce - a fusion of Chinese and Japanese, for the uneducated like me! Never have i enjoyed eggplant as much before! Noodles were not greasy, loved the mock ham and it had a nice amount of spice that could do with a bit more fresh cut hot chilli, but there was enough on the Eggplant.
Also had the cake dessert trio, which was greatly received as we were allowed to enjoy.
Service was extremely pleasant from the waiter, and the lady (possibly the owner) was also very friendly, taking a great deal of pride with quality of her food on offer (and rightly so!). Thoroughly enjoyed dinner and looking forward to experience the lunch buffet on our next visit.
I love meat and dairy so when I went vegan for 3 months, I was struggling a lot. I am not a big fan of vegetables and I found most vegan meals fairly bland in taste and after a while, when you keep on eating the same things over and over again, it gets boring. When I first came here on a Saturday evening, I felt I was in heaven. Most of the dishes we had and especially the chicken tasted like meat. The chicken even had the texture and look of chicken skin and the crispy bits at the end. It was very strange and hard to believe it was not meat! The service is also excellent here and the owner is a lovely lady who seems to have regular customers that she knows well. She made a point of chatting to everybody. I love the vegan ice cream counter too and the many vegan treats that looked tasty but felt too naughty to try.
I tried the Raw Lemon and Blueberry Cheesecake at Green Gourmet St Leonards and it was delicious. The texture was smooth and the blueberry and lemon was prominent in the cheesecake. It was a good balance between the tartness of the lemon and the sweetness of the blueberries. I am not vegetarian or vegan. However, this goes to show that this cake is a crowd favourite and will delight your non-vegan friends!
Really great Chinese vegan food. The service is also really lovely here. We came for dinner and ordered a few dishes, upon inspection the chef informed the waiter to come and see if we wanted to change one of our dishes since it had the same taste as another thing we ordered. This was a really nice thing to do and made the experience so much better. We ordered the lion clay pot, hot and spicy mushroom peppercorn, sweet and sour nori slices and crispy fish with black bean sauce. The people who work here are lovely, would highly recommend asking them for some suggestions on dishes!
Really good vegan food.
At lunch time they have a buffet. It's not an "all you can eat" type thing, you choose the things you want, and then they weigh it.
Don't load up on rice or noodles, you pay by the gram.
Aim to arrive early (12pm) as they will have the best variety and freshest choices
Delicious vegetarian and vegan food. I go regularly. The burdock salad is mouth-watering and the sticky rice is almost addictive. The evening buffet is quick and convenient and the a-la-carte menu also offers lots of tasty dishes.
Popped in there tonight quite hungry. Instead of a main, I ordered a selection of starters and wasn't disappointed. Authentic Chinese taste in the no-shark fin soup + the satay kebabs were utterly yummy. Unfortunately too full to try their delicious-looking vegan cakes and ice cream.
I had kept the Green Gourmet card close by until one of those rare moments my boyfriend agrees to accompany me to a completely vegan/vegetarian meal, which is when I happily whip it out.
There were so many dishes to choose from and each sounding just as good as the one before, so I think we may have taken the longest time ever in deciding what to get. We ended up with a Singapore rice noodle, white turnip cake, BBQ not pork bun, Shanghai wor tip, chia seed dumplings, and vegan tofu ice cream.
As a whole the meal was great with a few very tasty dishes. I keep thinking of this one particular Singapore noodle I order from one of my fav thai restaurants, but must come to realise it will not be the same at other places lol. Green Gourmet’s wasn’t too bad, I actually enjoyed the mock chicken but found the curry flavour to be too strong for me personally.
BBQ not pork bun was actually quite good, I mean sure it’s not going to taste exactly like the real thing but it really is a good alternative. Both dumplings were tasty also, I recommend the wor tip!
But if none of these appeal to you, you must at least try the white turnip cake – it is absolutely scrumptious. Even my boyfriend agreed, this was one tasty dish and both our favourite of the night.
Annnnd onto the vegan ice cream! We chose black sesame and I’d say this is a pretty safe option for the first time. Not gonna lie it did take a bit of getting used to, but it’s really not that bad after a while. I’ve had other vegan ice cream before and it was amazing so I know the initial lukewarm response to GG’s homemade ice cream was definitely not because it’s plant based… just maybe because it’s tofu.
We've tried Green Gourmet on a Saturday lunch. The menu is complete with all the dishes typical for a Dim Sum. We had 7 dishes to share between 2 of us with a good balance of 2 fried and 5 steamed. I've appreciated the fact that they had some unusual (modern) stuff, like the dumplings made with chia. I liked the fact that they don't try to imitate the original "non-veg" dishes. All in all the dishes were very balanced. Service was attentive. Definitively will be back again.
While the Aunt had her yummy deep fried goodies, I scoffed these delicious soy satay sticks, they weren’t claiming it to be mock chicken (though I think they could!) it was AMAZING. I am a sucker for peanuts and putter butter yet most commercial satay sauces have onion in their ingredients, this was like nothing on earth (yep, I am pretty sure aliens have come to earth to deliver onion/garlic free satay sauce), though not very ‘Yum Cha’ I didn’t care – *face-plate-inhale*. Ate all four, sorry Auntie was not sharing! Sue me, I’m an only child.
First time and I loved it! Their eggplant parcel is so delicious!
Delicious. Love it!!!
The food is amazing
My favourite is the curry puffs for the entree, and for the main the golden plum slice (with brown rice).
The service is good!
Been coming here for a while, only annoyance is the cash only thing and having to get money out before, I always prefer to pay by eftpos, also the tea is a little weak for my liking.
But, other then that, wonderful!
A bit pricey but worth it. Great fresh wholesome food. Love the 'Monks choice' hot pot and the 'not meat Shan Tung chicken'. The sticky rice and banana pudding is a yummy dessert without it feeling too naughty.
