Beautiful place. Delicious food and kind staff.
One of the best in St Leonard’s.
This is a fairly new place and the food is new and exciting. The staff are friendly and welcoming and enthusiastic. Everything has a clean and fresh appearance.
Amazing coffee and the best almond croissant I’ve ever had in my life! 🥐☕️
Fabulous Service. We ordered a couple of salads and a coffee each. The salads were colourful, satisfying and we'd definitely order them again. My friend had the salmon salad and I had the beetroot / hummus and roasted veggie salad. The coffees were great too. Thanks for a delicious lunch!
Looking for a pretty brunch for a date? Or a catch-up with the girls?? Then this cafe is the one to go to!! With such pretty dishes, you won’t be disappointed! And your tastebuds will want for more!! Combining Japanese with a westernised brunch cafe food is something I’ve never heard of before! I would definitely be going back for the omelette rice which got me craving every single day the day I tasted this dish! Top dish!!
Very nice food will go back again.
French toast and French earl grey and bean chorizo was all very delicious.
The dishes looked very fresh and was fresh.
Conveniently located at the Forum. Most of the eateries here are catered for office workers & quick lunches. This is a nice space where you can sit for a while to enjoy your food and/or coffee. There are a few interesting things on the menu (kale pancakes!), but haven't had a good French Toast for a while. Their version consists of brioche topped with syrup, ice cream, walnuts & mixed fruits, plus grilled bananas. Interesting mix of fruits, aside of the obligatory berries, it also had peaches & passionfruit. A pretty good version.
Yummy coffee and banana berry pancakes. Conveniently this place is central at the train station and has great music. Can’t wait to be back to relax with the paper again!
I was super excited when Flying Egg opened sometime last year because I noticed the Grounds of Alexandria coffee cups. I figured that anyone who sources their coffee from The Grounds can’t possibly be terrible. This is absolutely sound logic – the Flying Egg coffee is pretty decent! The real test for me is how cafes go with skim milk as this is often a let down – the skim flat white at the Flying Egg is just as good as the regular flat white.
The food is a really pleasant surprise though and it is really high quality for a cafe right next to the train station gates. The sweet corn fritters with avocado, a poached egg and home made tomato relish on the breakfast menu is just beautiful. The corn fritters are different to what I am used to – they’re softer, less crispy and not as dense but I kind of like it this way (tastes healthier?) though I do have to say that I was initially looking for that crispy crust. I also add smoked salmon to the dish for an extra $4.50 and thankfully, there is a generous serving of it. The real star of the dish is the homemade tomato relish – I don’t usually love tomato relish as it is often a bit too tart. This tomato relish is a good balance between sweet and acidic and I like that the tomato is still chunky instead of jam-like. Mmmm I could eat that tomato relish with just some bread and olive oil.

Great cafe located practically inside St Leonards station. Quite spacious seating area with trendy vibe. Coffee is amazing, from The Grounds.
During this first visit I tried their dish, Fish of The Day, which is pan fried fish. You can choose from barramundi or salmon and I chose barramundi. Fish is perfectly cooked and every element is spot on! Love the beetroot puree.
I also tried their popular French toast. It’s indulgent and delightful.
Both dishes were generously portioned and presented well.
Yummy cafe right at the St Leonard train station.
This convenient location means that it has become a favourite for locals.
It was our first time in the area and we were delighted by the bright, modern interiors and fresh delicious brunch food!
Iced long blank was deliciously strong and the bread used was so soft and moreish. Highly recommend.

This delightful new cafe sits inside The Forum at St Leonards, the centre of the hustle and bustle of this north shore Sydney suburb. Tastefully decorated, Flying Egg is filled with natural light and lovely furnishings. Right at the entrance you are greeted by their pastries and cakes, and their beautiful coffee machine.
Lovely place for lunch with friendly service. I had Salmon steak with coffee.
The crispy skinned Salmon steak is delicious with flavour. I’ll going back for lunch.

For anyone working in St Leonards or hopping on or off at St Leonards Station this one is worth the stop by!
The Breakfast options are a plenty and the lunch options were also great for any salad lovers or burger lovers.
I sampled their ‘Bohemian Salad’ and the Chef’s Special “smashed avo on toast with a mango, tomato salsa. We also tried the New menu items which were the Hazelnut & Salted Caramel Iced English Breakfast teas!
Great tasting Food and loved the aesthetics of this one~
The Grounds Coffee served here was pretty alright too!
Flying Egg was totally worth the trek to St Leonards! Big thanks to Mike from Ompty for introducing me to this wonderful cafe & Shane from Flying Egg for being so welcoming and hospitable this morning. My avocado smash on sourdough w mango and tomato salsa was so damn fresh and delicious that I would definitely return and recommend it to my fellow foodies. I'm expecting big things from this little cafe and can't wait to see it grow! All the best on your future success!
Located right near the station at St Leonards, you can see the Grounds coffee from a mile away. The Flying Egg logo looks like the Golden Snitch!! Industrial style dining, either at the brekkie bar, long tables or couple tables. Their menu was pretty cool, with a photo of the restaurant and it’s view as the cover of the menu. This is a place to grab takeaway, if you are in the area or to have a brekkie meeting like i did!
I check out Flying Egg recently which is a cafe located in St Leonards. I've had the pleasure of dining at the owner's other venue in Rydalmere so I had some pretty high expectations given the quality i've experienced before. Flying Egg is located in the forum in St Leonards which is right outside St Leonard's station. As you enter, you can see white exposed brick and brightly lit windows. I like the vibe, the decore is modern, sleek and inviting. Matt and I sit down nearby the big windows so we can enjoy some sunshine. GO TO BLOG POST for full review and photos
Discovered this newly opened cafe few days ago on the way to work, and today finally had time to try it out! Upon walking in I was welcomed by the friendly staff, the seats are spacious with nice background music. There are some freshly made croissant/cakes/ light snack at the counter if you want a quick grab. From the menu, I ordered the "French omelette", it was like all other standard omelette but nice! Big portion for me, could not finish the bread. Would love to try other dishes next time.
What a cool, new bustling cafe in the heart of the St Leonards station area! Flying Egg cafe is what St Leonards and The Forum area needs!! Firstly, how to find it if you are coming from the street! Pretend you are going to board the train and just before the turnstiles, take a sharp right....No! Not McDonalds, but just to the left of it! If you are coming by car there is plenty of street parking on weekends and the Chandos St car park just at the back of the café is $4 all day! The cafe's area is quite vast with tables and benches able to cater for groups of all configurations (high chair seating too). We enjoyed a very relaxing Saturday lunch sitting at a lovely table for two next to the floor to ceiling windows and basking in the northern sunshine!
The interiors are aesthetically pleasing and on-trend with white subway tiles, textured whitewashed walls and tables, hanging greenery and darkened vintage Hamptons sconces. It is the kind of place you feel so relaxed you just want to stay for hours!
Started with a simple cappuccino and a croissant to get the ball rolling! Excellent coffee; perfectly executed with care and detail! Using The Grounds coffee is obviously an important factor as diners and locals are assured of a quality cup of Joe! Breakfast is served from 7am - 11.30am, so after our croissant we move straight on to the lunch menu which is served between 12pm - 3pm. Never one to shy away from a good feed, my partner decides on their famous Burger-Burger which consists of 2x 150g Wagyu patties w American cheese, tomato, lettuce, dill, a homemade smoky sauce and caramelised onions w a side of steak cut chips. Satisfying, excellent quality, and he loves delicious flavor and the smokiness of the sauce. At the other end of the spectrum, I choose a very light dish consisting of a salmon steak w crispy skin, soba noodles and a colourful orange, fennel, mint and dill salad. The freshness of the salmon and the visual appearance and simplicity; combined with Asian flavours and fresh herbs just makes me feel so happy!
Thank you to Ompty and Flying Egg's Shane and Harish for their kind invitation to dine and their wonderful hospitality! With the word spreading quickly through the lower North Shore and beyond; the owner's attention to detail and the use of top quality produce, Flying Egg is sure to be a great success! Can't wait for them to get their liquor license so they can open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Just what this area needs! Cheers!

The first thing you’ll notice about Flying Egg St Leonards is the design. Owner Shane Lee clearly has a flare for working with difficult spaces, and this oddly triangular venue sitting in an arcade that leads to St Leonards Station is definitely architecturally challenging! By setting the counter and kitchen to one side, Lee has cleverly opened up natural light and long distance views along the railway line. By painting the fixtures and ceiling black, and the brick walls white, the view has been kept as the café’s centerpiece. A clever central divider running down the middle of the venue gives the impression of intimacy to the tables on either side, without closing down the view. White tiles, wall mounted light fittings, and off white wood grain paneling around the kitchen window complete the elegant picture, creating a space that really punches above its neighbours in The Forum. While it was well made and nicely presented, I found The Grounds coffee a little hollow in the middle in across a...

Flying Egg is a new cafe situated near St Leonards train station. The interior of the cafe is large and spacious and it is perfect for many occasions, a morning coffee and baked treat, a quick and healthy weekday lunch or a lazy indulgent weekend brunch. We came here for the latter on a Saturday and will share our experience.
This little cafe is a newbie but boy do they know how to cook!
Every dish we had was on point.
The coffee and signature hot chocolate was amazing.
The eggs bennedict, French toast and the jambo mambo salad was super tasty! The perfect comfort food for this chilly weather.
Service was super friendly. Shane and Harish, the cooks, were just lovely.
A bit of background was they were both working overseas - Shane working in a hotel and Harish, a restaurant, the two finally got together and created Flying Egg.
Good thing they did because the food is just so good!
You definitely have to go if you don't believe me. I think this will be one where the following will soon sky rocket.
Located next to St Leonards station, it can be a bit tricky to find but facing out from the station, head to the left where there is a lane that branches out of the station and it is the first to your left.
Definitely will recommend this to family and friends and have already done so.
Nice location with great casual ambience. Ordered 'Baked Egg' and 'Morning Glory' for a friend. Both came out quite quick together.
Baked egg with runny yolk had great flavours and was told everything was prepared and cooked in house which can be seen through semi open kitchen.
Grounds coffee made well where i ended up having two cups.
All in all prompt services with great food and coffee. Highly recommended not just for locals but for anyone who enjoys good food and coffee.
In Short: Flying Egg is an exciting new addition to The Forum at St Leonards. Quality coffee, and a refined touch with the food, really elevates this cafe straight to the top in St Leonards.
While it’s all in the tasting, it does instill a little confidence when you see a Synesso espresso machine out front of a cafe. The attention to detail, exquisite looking, hand-built coffee machines screams quality, and sends a message to coffee lovers that the cafe is serious about their coffee. Flying Egg in St Leonards is the first cafe that I know of in the area sporting the Synesso machine, and they partner with The Grounds for their coffee. Having worked in St Leonards on and off for over a decade, it’s welcoming indeed to see owners Shane and Harish fashion a bright, welcoming and open plan space at The Forum. If you’re new to the area, it’s as easy as exiting the ticket bollards, turn left, and boom, great coffee and Instagram worthy café fare.

🍴 BAKED EGGS W/SOURDOUGH, BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST AND CAFE AU LAIT 🍴
.
💙 For an early days cafe the service and standard of food were both very good. Particularly loved the brioche French toast 💙
.
🔍 Tucked away to the side of the Forum Plaza, quite easy to miss at the moment 🔍
Amazing place for brekky/brunch/lunch and a super handy location in the St Leonard's forum right next to the station. The cafe itself features minimalist modern interiors, great whitewash tabletops for instas, and a big window which lets in heaps of natural light and some nice sunny spots to sip your morning coffee. The staff are all great, super friendly! But best of all is the food! Amazing presentation, and tastes just as good as it looks.
Here's what we had:
- cappuccino made with The Grounds coffee
- hot choccy. So good and chocolately!
- eggs Benedict. On a thick slice of good sourdough, 2 poached eggs, bacon, and the glossiest most gorgeous Hollandaise.
- Bohemian salad. The most stunning plating you've ever seen for a sale! Sitting on a bed beetroot hummus, are roasted zucchini, eggplant, capsicum and tomato accented with figs, slivered almonds and rocket. The most enjoyable and pretty salad I've had!
- French toast. Omg soooo good! Beautiful brioche French toast in a lemon maple syrup. Topped with strawberries, blueberries, vanilla ice cream and cookie crumb! The crumb takes it next level adding in an awesome textural element.
A great local cafe with stunning food that has the flavour and plating of a fine dining restaurant, all for super affordable prices!
As a local in St Leonards, ecstatic there is good coffee next to St Leonards station as they've partnered with The Grounds. This place just opened on Monday this week. Came here to try the breakfast - had the omelette. Will definitely return to try lunch. Great vibe, good for young families, small groups, singles and couples.
