The most incredible Cafe! An I rarely review anything but OMG the food the staff! Georgina is spectacular with service Jeremy the Chef thank you I have eaten so many of your delicious dishes! Daniel Oliviay? An Tommy epic baristas! I had to get to know all of you because this has been an experience of a lifetime I'm gonna be such a regular now!
love this place genuine service with a smile and the vibe fills the courtyard , the coffee is to die for and the food was better than anything ive had in melb or sydney
Wow! The new Chef here really is killing it! I can not believe the menu, it truly is to die for. I can not wait to sample many more of these dishes. The space has been opened up to include the old timber warehouses to the rear of the French country style courtyard where I know I will while away many an afternoon, soaking up all of the arts and culture now brewing at this haven.
Love this place and this team, too well of a wonderfully kept secret.
Will be back! It's a cute quaint little place with a gorgeous decor and now the weather is becoming nice it'll be awesome to sit in the courtyard for a deelish brunch indeed! 😊
Had a delightful breakfast catch up this morning in this fine establishment.
I was so delighted to see a breakfast menu that put a unique twist on the old favourites!
I couldn't go past the Benny Bagel - eggs Benny on a bagel, genius!
I'll definitely be heading back to try the breakfast pizza and the smashed avo.
There were also some great take away treats including plenty of sweet and savoury options.
This place is sure to be buzzing with the spring season now in full bloom.
Be sure to make a reservation to score a seat outside in the courtyard.
Came across this hidden little spot while shopping on Magill rd. Came with my girlfriend and we were both surprised that we had never heard if this hidden gem. Certainly wouldnt have thought that there was a relaxing tuscan style courtyard at the rear. We sat inside which again was a suprise from the street front, quirky design with the most comfortable queen style chairs. We had coffee which was so good we had a second. Ate from the menu which was equally as good, food had amazing presentation, you can see the pride in this place. Not normally one for writing reviews but was so impressed we wanted to get this little spot noticed for what they do best! We will certainly be back.
Not many pkaces where you can buy a $5 pot of tea, get about 6-7 good servings, whilst immersing in a unique culture and atmosphere. It is amongst one of Adelaide's best places for a cuppa and brunch; and the team treat you like a friend. You will be welcomed and want to stay. It is pet friendly, our friend's dog is given water and if you don't feel like you fit in (anywhere) Louis is for you.
5 stars.
A new friend.. This little stretch of Magill Rd always provided a pleasant treasure hunt but it has continued expanding to become a bonafide treasure cove. The offerings are now unparralled in what is a paradise for interior design. And last saturday I found My Friend Louis, which combines visuals with edibles! Half delectable shopping, half gorgeous caffetteria with an outdoor area and a function room. I don't usually mention the staff but here they were fantastic. My four legged companion was enthusiastically greeted - a great first impression - and a bowl of water appeared just as soon as we were seated. That combined with the lovely outdoor setting made us hope our order sealed the deal. The sweets, a carrot cake and banana bread were delicious, fresh and tasty, and both slightly different. Even the chai was a little.. different. They seem to include their own very light imprint, whilst still meeting your expectations on familiar flavours. I like that. I like that a lot. A friend indeed, by monday I was back.
Potential for more. Today we went for coffee and cake. Good coffee (was missing that golden creaminess that good coffee has however). Fast service for being completely overpacked with customers. A good selection of cakes, the raspberry custard tart was subtle and very fresh. They only had one savoury, which was a single sausage roll (lunchtime!) that was very tiny. After looking at their website they offer quite over priced kids parties and high tea. They really would benefit with utilising their back outside area with some more dinner events? Or degustations? Or even some live music?
What a lovely little place. Great food, great service in a great spot.
Nice Place. Great food, great staff.. One of the best breakfasts around!! Coffee to match too!
Quirky. Absolutely loved it! Awesome store to browse then make your way through to the cafe. Sit inside, down the corridor or out the back on a nice sunny day. We sat outside next to a pot with little strawberry plants in the bottom and stole a few too!
Coffee = great.
Vegetarian foccacia = great.
Staff= great.
Sexy fun atmosphere. It's in my top two for coffee in Adelaide.
Love at first sight!!. Finally! Perfect in every way!
I came to My Friend Louis at the suggestion of a friend for lunch, and had to go back the very next day for breakfast as I was so impressed.
The coffee was liquid gold, the sausage roll flakey perfection and the service impeccable.
Never in my wildest dreams would I think to book a table for breakfast in Adelaide, but the popularity of this establishment and the fact it's delightful outdoor area was rained out meant tables were at a premium. The staff were wonderful however and a table was found and my poached eggs with salmon on homemade hashbrowns were exquisite.
I was so excited to start eating I forgot to take photos of the actual food. Next time!
"Chardonnay Sipping Eastern Silvertails" (ala swennyhenny) rejoice! An establishment worthy of the cause showing Radelaide how it's done!
Love it!. Friendly staff and amazing coffee coupled with a brilliant atmosphere, my new favourite haunt.
Great ambience: the artwork is so cool! Have only had coffee there so far but fully intent on heading back to try their breakfast next as it looks very promising

This weekend, I went to ‘My friend Louis’. A breakfast and lunch location on Magill Rd. There was a great vibe to this place and I loved the fact that it was linked to a home décor store (Louis Bond), which reflected all the eclectic attributes of the MFL itself.
The place itself is a little small consisting of both an indoor and outdoor dining area. Hint: If you want to get a spot inside (especially during winter), make a booking before hand.
Quick bite at My Friend Louis during my lunch break early last week. A quick ‘pick me up’ with coffees and a foccacia and tart from their limited menu on their wall; although the selection was small, the food was thoroughly. Long macchiato and soy latte Pumpkin, roast capsicum, alfalfa, feta and rocket foccacia; $12.00 Chorizo and caramelised onion tart with lentil salad; $12.00 Both relatively ‘healthy’ choices with fresh ingredients and loads of flavour, a visit is recommended if you’re within the vicinity. Lots of seating options inside and outside (large courtyard) with their furniture store right next door that’s also worth a browse. This is a lovely little spot to chill, such a cosy coffee spot or a decadent high tea with bubbly.
The staff are lovely and attentive.
Only annoying thing was the lights go out quite a bit, short circuits? Oh but there were candles on each table so it was ok 😉
I got their picnic baskeet so I could treat the wife to a nice wee relaxing day out. And she loved it. The basket was a great idea on their part, as its an old sewing box and with something in each part of it was very good. The staff are very friendly.
An amazing hidden spot on Magill road. Great food and coffee. The place is a piece of art, different creative elements inside and outside. My fav spot to get inspired. If you go there on a saturday, you might be lucky to find a man playing accordeon and singing french songs.
Friendly staff. Flavoursome coffee. Interesting take on creme caramel - not too sweet but tasty. Ambient music not unbearable. Funky decor, plenty of tables in and out.
Such a beautiful atmosphere and delish food. Great coffee and the Staff were more than helpful and friendly. Definitely our new brunch spot.
Beautiful environment and very fancy foods, love it!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
