Such a lovely quaint cafe. Staff are friendly and advise well on what you might like. My salted caramel hot choclate was amazing. Paired with 2 truffles of rum and raisen and Black Russian it was to die for!! Will be back. Was a great pit stop for us Sydney siders for our day in the HIlls. Oh! Their style of an "amuse buche " of apricots with creme anglaise was spectacular
Where to begin. Walked in, and was met with smiles, and a friendly welcome. I had 2 young ladies with me, so it was a treat. We ordered coffee, 2 hot white chocolate's, and a chocolate plate. Wow, we could not finish it, but it was delicious. Loved the place and I have not been since the new expansion. So much better.
Great service from the lovely staff this morning, Hubby and I treated ourselves to coffee and cakes and we weren't disappointed. Highly recommend this cafe!

Red Cacao is one of our favourite Cafes to visit regularly. Not only are Marcus and all the staff friendly they are determined to make your every visit memorable. There are so many beautiful chocolates to choose, which I feel are the very best I have had in Adelaide, their great variety of foods is amazing, from waffles and yummy other sweet treats and there is also a great variety of savoury treats. Red Cacao is definitely a place to visit, even though your wallet may suffer as there are so many beautiful things to take home to taste later!

Most favourite cafe in the Adelaide hills. Warm, cozy, cute space with yummy chocolate drinks. Food presentation is lovely. Staff always ensures customers are treated well. What we meant when we said Hidden gem, Red cacao is a chocolatier located in the Adelaide Hills. They serve desserts, hot and cold drinks, chocolate products, savoury dishes and packaged Chocolate products.
Food
We tried the dessert platter, chocolate cake and classic waffle. I must say the dessert platter was such an adventure. Different unexpected flavours with combinations of sour, bitter, fruity and sweet. The waffle was so soft and the chocoate used was so addictive. The cake was also satisfying while the drinks were one of the best we had in Adelaide.
We browsed the inside of the cafe hoping to buy some souvenirs for friends. We weren’t expecting some of the prices of their packaged products. A bit expensive however, quite understandable since the quality is top notch.
Service and Atmosphere
Quite shocking as we never had this kind of friendly service before. Everyone, literally everyone was beyond nice and accommodating. Big smiles, great product knowledge and good people skills. Staff clearly undertook proper trainings which were visible during our visit.

Visited this place on a Friday evening and luckily we got to seat indoor. This place provides both indoor and outdoor seatings with heaters for colder months.
Staffs were very friendly and accomodating. They will happily explain to you about each dessert and how to enjoy it best. There is also an area where they sell all different sorts of products including pralines, chocolate powder and chocolate bars!
So we ordered few of their specialty desserts and drinks and here is what I (we) think;
- Flower pot : make sure you dig your spoon till the bottom to get all the caramel and mousse including the "soil". If you are a huge chocolate fan, you would def love this! The macaroon is supposedly "the flower". Very cute presentation.
- Berry waffles: i think this was my highlight of the night. Waffle was soft, softer than normal, and somehow it was amazing. Topped with fresh lemon curd, berry ice cream, meringue and raspberry sauce...Heaven! OH! We requested for a small shot of dark chocolate sauce to be splattered on it. Instead of giving a tiny bowl, they gave us a mini mug full of hot dark chocolate sauce! OMG. 5/5 for service. 5/5 for taste and presentation
-mexican spicy dark hot chocolate : pleasantly spicy but not too spicy that you will still enjoy the dark chocolate's richness. It gives a subtle kick at the back of your throat.
- COFFEE. : AMAZING. CAME HERE FOR THE COFFEE TO BE HONEST. 4.5/5
- Affogato : Generous serving, almost perfect taste. Comes with a bowl of choclated coated coffee beans and a mini mug shot of chocolate too.. well done! If you are an affogato fan, please get this one. You won't be disappointed.
- Hot Chokky Dip : so it comes with a glass of warm milk where you dip in the chocolate stick. Pretty good and fun esp.for kids to keep them entertained. I personally think this is a little too sweet but thats just because I am a dark chocolate eater. But def. order this for your bubs!

On our way to late lunch we stopped by this charming chocolate shop in Stirling. Filled with lots of guests we waited patiently till a table opened up. They do table service here which usually isn’t the norm for dine in so was pleasantly surprised by that. They were really lovely and accommodating as we did take a bit of time time deciding on what we wanted.
There seems to be chocolate overload on the choices we could take so a bit overwhelmed by it all but did narrow it down once I took a squiz in the cabinet displays and read the extensive dessert menu. I had the Hazelnut Hot Chocolate. Creamy milk hot chocolate with hazelnut flavouring was a delight. My friend had a Aztec Hot Chocolate. It was a dark chocolate with chilli and cinnamon. She commented that it had a nice kick of it without being overpowering.
For our desserts I had Nick. It was a cake with mocha mousse, hazelnut crunch, and dark choc ganache. Went very well with the drink as chocolate and hazelnut combination is a match made in heaven. It was rich without being overly sweet. My friend had a Friand of the day which was a Lemon and Pistachio. As she doesn’t like overly sweet desserts she said it went very well with the hot chocolate. Light and tasty.
If you’re in the Adelaide Hills area this would be a wonderful place for morning or afternoon tea or dessert! Lots of chocolates in the cabinet meant I bought some to take home as gifts. I also enjoyed the samples they give such as the Peanut Brittle and Mascarpone Mousse With Meringue.
We had hot cross bun hot chocolates and apple crumble waffles - both were fantastic. The staff are also ridiculously nice and very accommodating. Their take home chocolates are also good (dark chocolate raspberry).
Environment: 4.5 warm, home-sweet-home cafe, lovely couches, retail store is located next to the dinning area, it’s easy to figure out different types of chocolate
Service: 4.0 great, friendly and patience service, some free chocolate were served before order, nice almond coated with milk chocolate, pretty good

Affogato: 4.0 good, unique flavour with some liquor in the chocolate sauce, interesting combination of the espresso, vanilla ice cream and the chocolate sauce, great presentation, ideal for your story capture:)
Cappuccino: 3.5 chose the classic coffee bean one, there are 3 types of different coffee beans, 2 random chocolates will be included, ( I m not sure can we choose our preferred chocolate) but those they served are almond and liquor chocolate.
It’s a good place anyway, happy to visit again:)
Yum, Yum, Yum. This place is a little piece of chocolate heaven. Plenty of chocolate-y and other drinks and cake options. Lovely set up inside and plenty of seating outside too. They also sell various chocolates and nuts. Perfect for a little fancy gift. Can't wait to return!
Great coffee. Two truffles. Very nice. Seating area spacious, clean, comfortable. Service very good. There's a nice couch area in corner near a bookshelf. The purpose of bookshelf was to divide the area rather than hold books. The few on there were old and smelt
Found this place through Zomato, thought to give it a try and love the coffee!! My husband usually would order long black and I would always have a couple sips, and that's it. but the long black here is just amazing, strong fragrance but yet beautiful, and very smooth! I could have drank the whole cup by myself! You can select the coffee bean, ours were selected by the waiter and they are very friendly!
What can i say delicious all round! Great coffee and delicious chocolate! Pricing is on the higher side, around $8 for a coffee but overall exceptional service and food/drinks! 👍👍
The drinks and food were absolutely delicious and the presentation was beautiful. It was hard to chose from the menu as everything sounded sublime. The customer service was amazing in a lovely environment.
I don’t head up to Stirling very often but when I do, Red Cacao draws me there. I was first introduced to this chocolate wonderland by a Yelp event which left me with a big grin on my face. They are so passionate about what they do. The chocolate quality is exquisite and they are creative with the flavours. Flavours that you would think subtle but really shine through. It’s a little hidden down an alleyway but it always seems busy. Very much a gem not only in Stirling but all of Adelaide.
A magical memory comes to me as I write this, so a 5! The lovely girl serving who in a relaxed manner invited us to experience the matching of coffee with chocolate was a delightful welcome. I had a flat white with matched chocolates, the first one still melts in my mouth today. The wife had a fantastic flavoured iced decaf coffee with slated caramel chocolate tart. She too died from the pleasure. Sitting outside in Stirling on a spring day in the sun, rare on this particular Sunday with the storms, made it special. The touch of blankets on the chairs meant the risk of being cold was managed. Loved it!
This place really isn’t generally my sort of thing, I’m no connoisseur of fine chocolate but if you are so inclined there is plenty of the good stuff here to keep any chocoholic very happy. I do however love my coffee, quality produce and most importantly fantastic service and this place has all three of those categories absolutely down pat. The coffee and the service is the best you’ll find for miles around. The only negative is perhaps the building in which this business is housed, it’s a little cramped and lacking in character but I get over that pretty much the instant I receive my always perfect coffee which is always accompanied by a little bonus taster of something house-made and exotic. The staff are always well presented, friendly whilst not being intrusive (no mean feat in cramped surrounds), knowledgeable about their wares and are at all times extremely professional. There’s an awful lot to like about Red Cacao even if it’s not necessarily the chocolate.
Red cacao is a simply pearl spot at stirling. Love this cafe, warm and genuine service, clean..even the kitchen is very clean, it looks like a place where a groups of oompa loompa making a chocolate and cake (okay i might be hyperbolic lol). When we came the waiter greeted us and serve a spoon of green apples and mint custard. Omg! You gonna love it. Definitely made by artist..it's just different from other desert in the city. I ordered coffee frape which was so fresh and nice and belgian waffles. It may looks small but it's just enough. I can taste a cinnamon flavour in it, i dunno cud be anything else. It was crispy and different with other franchise chocolate and waffles cafe. I like the outdoor area..definitely would come back for others desert.
Lots of interesting chocolate options but I can't say any of the 3 types (ginger truffle, lime and popping candy and the choc coated liquorice) we bought knocked our socks off.
This place is beautiful. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. They introduced the menu and their today special to us. Hot chocolate is their specialty. Ordered the salted caramel, orange and aztech hot chocolate. For desserts, the lime cheesecake was good. Nice texture. Would also recommend the belgian waffles. It is soft and with the chocolate ice cream, whip cream and blueberry jam, it was the best. The Dessert platter was delicious.

I love their environment and the coffee are just great for chilly weather now. Matching chocolate did very well combo with every sip of the coffee! Love their tiramisu,must try! Definitely worth a return!

Not far away from the city and up the South Eastern Highway, you will reach a town called Stirling. It is a beautiful little town, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes which you can dine at. When you arrive at the main street, you will see a restaurant called 'The Locavore', turn down that side alley way and you will hit 'Red Cacao Chocolatier'. This is where we went today and we had a very indulging experience.
Not my thing as I don't really enjoy hot chocolate, but it's a nice place to take visitors or the kids for a treat. I think the coffee is bland, but it's a chocolate place... They craft beautiful chocolate and desserts.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great area in the sun to enjoy some well made delicious chocolates. Salted caramel chocolate was beautiful.
Deserves all of the accolades. Red Cacao had me at chocolate, but I was blown away by the quality and service in store.
My orange hot chocolate was divine, and I love that they choose a couple of chocolates to complement your drink of choice. My raspberry and hazelnut truffles were terrific picks, as they happen to be two of my favourite flavours when coupled with chocolate. The Baileys truffles I took home were also rich, creamy, and lived up to my lofty expectations.
Best Coffee!. This is mostly a chocolate shop but it has the best coffee in Stirling! Plus they give you a chocolate with your coffee. And the waitress that served us was really nice. The only problem is it's a bit small when its crowd and outside will be cold in winter but apart from that I love it.
A lovely surprise!. We stopped by this cafe in Stirling without even knowing that it was 100% rating in urbanspoon. Ordered some dessert and hot chocolate. Very happy with the food & the drink. We were also given some free berry sorbet tasting while we were waiting for the food. We totally didn't expect that. Such a sweet cafe with a personal touch, friendly service. It's worth 100% rating.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience. It was a dreary rainy day in Adelaide. We were looking for shelter and a nice hot cup to warm us up, and this place caught our eye. Tucked away in a little alley it is easy to miss, but it was the only place that was full of people while the other shops nearby were all empty.
I had an excellent hot dark chocolate, just the right consistency and sweetness with extra shavings of chocolate on top. Love their attention to detail, the chocolate that was paired with the Ethiopian coffee my partner ordered went very well. Grandma and aunties with us enjoyed themselves equally. Waitress was lovely. Will definitely visit again the next time I'm in Adelaide.
Sometimes I just can't even explain how amazing something is. If you like chocolate and or coffee come here and you will never need anything again.
This was one of the first places we visited when we moved to Adelaide, on our first trip into the hills and we have now been back twice after that. EXCELLENT coffee and absolutely awesome chocolate, capped off with some value for money, we love Red Cacao and will be returning frequently!
Great little find. We came across this place by accident on Valentines Day. We were met by extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff who instantly brought water and sample treats to our table. The coffee was so smooth and the desserts were beautiful. Nothing was too much trouble. We left feeling contented and with lots of yummy chocolate treats for later. The owner makes all the chocolates himself and has a vast array to select from. Next visit I intend trying out the chocolate thick shakes and olive, capsicum and fetta tart. Highly recommend this place.
Delicious sweets and charming staff. Its a new cafe in stirling near the lobethal bakery - the dark hot chocolate was the best find, because it was very rich but not too sweet - the waffle was yummy but i wish the chocolate sauce was really just chocolate - but the staff were lovely and we got to taste samples so i will be going back!

This place is unbelievable. Single origin organic coffee and house made chocolates. Absolutely delectable. Our platter was customised to be 100% vegan, and with a smile. Everything on it was expertly explained by the chocolatier, in a relaxed and knowledgable manner. Impeccable service, and outstanding products. 10/10
Aztec Chocolate. If you're a chilli chocolate fan you'll have to try the Aztec Hot Chocolate, a dark chocolate with kicks of chilli and cinnamon and came with some deliciously smooth chocolate pieces on the side.
It's a very friendly place, we were treated with chocolate coffee beans and chocolate covered almonds. Strongly recommend!
Wow! What a fantastic oasis of calm. Even the fussiest long black drinker (like me) will be love the quality coffee. Have one of the chocolatier's offerings and complete the experience.
A breakfast spot with so much charm ✨️ we came for the Waffles and they didn't disappoint! Waffles were mouthwatering and so scrumptious, staff were super friendly and happy to be here. The triple coated choc almonds we were given with our teas were too good not to pop into the shop and grab some to take home. Teas were wonderful too 👌🏻 definitely drop in and enjoy a taste-bud surprise of all the indulging goodness.
loved it so much!! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was so comfy. The staff were really lovely and even though it was very busy, they tended to us so well. The soup was fantastic (it was roasted pumpkin) and a good serving size. Also had the hot cross bun hot chocolate and it was so delicious but the cup was a small amount. However, they do have a larger mug option. Will be going back soon!
Everything was super delicious and staff were also very friendly! We ordered the berry and honeycomb waffle, a savoury muffin, and 80% single origin hot choc. The chocolate covered popcorn that were on the house were also delightful.
A quick walk around Stirling will reveal it’s probably the most popular cafe in the area - and it’s well justified. Enjoyed a selection of hot chocolates, coffees, frappes, savoury and sweet breads/pastries and of course a selection of chocolates (also to go). No wonder it’s a favourite stop for so many.
We went to this Cafe at the end of our stay in Adelaide & BV tour before going to the airport so we could pass some time and that turned out to be a great choice. Unlike many other places they were open until 18:00 and there were outdoor as well as indoor seating, service was very quick and friendly. There are many sweets and drinks to choose from. Food was delicious, worth visiting...
This place is an experience. The waitresses are the nicest I've ever seen. They give you a carrot cake taster. The desserts are amazing and everything is so well done. The croissant even comes with a bit of tomato, cucumber, sunflower seeds seasoned with pepper. All very fancy. Definitely pricey but you ger what you pay for
