Originally came here for their Bento Box but was swayed into ordering their ala carte instead. Tried their Pad Thai, Sukothai, Tom Yum Gong. For desert we tried their Pandan Crepes with sliced almond and Grilled Banana.
The Sukothai is devine, the Thai noodle was cooked to perfection with minced port, BBQ Pork and fish ball. The Pad Thai and Tom Yum Gong is also very nice can't fail any of them.
We highly recommend their Pandan Crepes, the only complain is that the portion is too small which means we can never have enough.
Bottom line: Great food. Good service. Very good value.
Best hokkien duck noodles and satay chicken noodles ive had. Lovely smiling owners too, with beautiful decorations and a calm ambiance. Would be great for families.
If you want try a THAI BENTO BOX or as they call it SIAM BOX come here!
The standout for me was the curry puffs and money bag because the insides are chunky! I like it! It's rare to get it like this
The rest of the box was standard, the Penang curry was light in taste and the spring roll was ok. The Thai custard, inconsistent, sum of it was mushy the other part harder in consistency.
Ambience wise it's a little dark inside
Value wise I'm not sure about it as a box should fill me up but I was still a little hungry. They do have lunch specials though
There wifi really works well, nil issues connecting and using it
Might be back in future
It was late afternoon when we reached North Strathfield hunting for food and stumbled upon Baan Raun. Normally other restaurants will turn dine in clients away by 2.30pm but we noticed they accept customers till slightly over 3pm. They offer vegetarian food with special lunch price under $10. Some of the seats are quite crammed but the waitresses are very friendly. I ordered chili basil rice and unfortunately I can't smell any basil unless I accidentally ate basil. However the pad Kee Mao is nice.
Lovvvve this thai restaurant. I order on a weekly basis and most dishes there are yummy and really quick delivery too! Staff are really friendly and polite as well
Sometimes all you need is a good local Thai place where you can get a decent meal and cheap food... and for me this is the place.
What I love is there lunch specials are for 7 days and you're getting decent Thai food for under $10.
My brother in law got the Green Curry...
My wife got the Yellow Curry...
I opted for the spicy option.. a Pad Kee Mao. It's a decent serving with a promising chilli kick...
and my sister had the Laksa with tofu.
Perfectly paired off with a Sweet Coconut Juice or their Thai Tea....
I love this place because their service is top notch, the food is great and I leave feeling happy and full. What more can you ask for...
Great little regular. I have been coming to Baan Thai since I moved into the area a few years back. Friends of mine put me onto it. The staff are so friendly and welcoming - they are that way to everyone, not just the regulars either!
The food is always fresh and tasty. One of my favourites is the salt and pepper squid - served with slightly peppery prawn crackers, the dish is gorgeous!
I will continue coming here and continue advocating it to everybody who wants to know. It's like eating in your own home but you are being served:)
$7 lunch special is great. Portion is decent. Good service. Food tastes good. My fav are bang bang basil, drunk noodle, pad thai, cashew nut heaven, laksa, spicy fried rice.
Good value for money. Prawn dishes are excellent and overall the food is authentic and good. Definately will come Again!
Always fresh & fabulous!! I've been coming here for years. The $7 lunch specials are great. 2 thumbs up!
Food is nice. More expensive than usual but bigger portion as well. The environment is quite cold. If it is warmer I believe can enjoy the food much better.
Cozy local Thai joint that exceeded our expectations. Compared to the other Thai restaurants along the Concord Rd strip, this is now our favourite.
Food is more "home-y" compared to the likes of say Holy Basil and Chat Thai (not a fair comparison), but also a big step up from your typical generic Thai restaurant. Satisfied our Thai cravings. The food doesn't have the same punch and isn't as pungent (which may suit you) - e.g. lack of dried shrimp in the papaya salad, zest in the dressing, soy in the pad see ew. Everything was delicious though. The fried fish was our favourite.
In terms of spice level, the ratings on the menu are a bit off. 3 chillis for green curry but in reality, closer to 0-1.
We came here as a small group and the service was both friendly and quick. Place was packed on a Friday night with a few other large groups, so booking is recommended. Looking forward to coming back for their lunch specials.
Best thing is food and a warm customer service that comes along. They are very mindful and you don’t actually have to ask for extra bowl or plates. They understand. Shoutout to the delicious food again.
Absolutely love the food, 5🌟 delicious, authentic and ultra fresh. Service is excellent, love a great local Thai, and this one tops them all.
The food at Baan Raun Thai is always high quality, with their curry puffs and Pad Thai with prawns being especially worthy of repeat orders. Their Thai vegetarian fried rice is also fine. In terms of service, this varies. Once they quoted over an hour delivery time and were still another 15 minutes late. On another occasion, the food was on time. Would be nice to get greater consistency in service; otherwise their food is a local staple.
This place is a hidden gem! Authentic Thai food that is amazingly delicious with so much flavour. The service is also exceptional! I keep going back to this place!
