Came here with the in-laws to celebrate Fathers Day. It was an experience.
You walk into a tiny front entrance alley, past what appears to be some kind of kitchen setup, and then you go past the charcoal burning stove and room, and then past the meat chef station, into the back of the space, which, is like a ... garage.
There are benches, with holes in the middle of the table, where great whopping buckets of charcoal are dropped in. Further along, is like a hastily built, no-council approval shed, with exposed open beams and that clear plastic corrugated sheeting, and some wooden planking walls, before the back of the shop is the rear laneway.
The atmosphere is loud, smokey, busy. They have these speakers on the open beams blaring korean pop music hard, like they want to be the king of the karaoke scene a street away from the judges. Like, wow loud. Smokey, well thats kind of obvious, because its charcoal cooking. Probably also why its like a open shed, for you know, that important ventilation, so customers don't die from carbon monoxide poisoning (remember, folks, do not use charcoal cooking indoors because it actually produces a lot of CO, people have died using charcoal to heat their rooms without adequate ventiation). Busy, well, its a Korean BBQ place, they're always busy.
But, the main attraction is the food. Well, its the saving grace. Quality cuts, great taste, pity about the serving size to the price. Also as far as side dishes go, we were served some kind of semi-soft shelled crab, cold, which seemed kind of raw, but slathered in a chilli sauce. After kind of tasting one, we decided to cook them anyway on the charcoal to be on the safe side, since we had no idea how fresh or not fresh they really were.
Still, it was a good night as far as food goes. Our baby did a poo-splosion (if you don't know what that is, don't google it while eating if you have a weak stomach, the name should give it away), and well, guess what? No baby change facilities here. Only one tiny single toilet and sink. Let me tell you, it was challenging to change this explosion of gastronomical after-effects of digestion, on a bench seat, next to the cooking food, with a screaming baby, and the very loud Korean pop music.
But hey, if you don't have a baby, you'd probably have a much more fun experience.
tl;dr - Great taste, smokey, loud, not best price for serve size.
