Review Crystal Seafood Restaurant - Strathfield

The food was so blend, like probably the worst yumcha I’ve been in Syd. The lady with the short hair had terrible service, like when you ask her for something she will look you roll her eyes and walks away without saying anything. Please keep in mind we went at a fairly quiet time. Never going back there.🙄

We had yum cha on Saturday and we enjoyed the dishes, especially the steamed rice rolls with prawns, hargow, and mango pancakes. The only dish which was just so-so to me was the fried noodle (it tasted a bit healthy to me, as I'm used to the oilier version!). I like the location of this restaurant as it is very convenient by either car or public transport. Service was good. Great for large groups too as there are plenty of seatings. Prices for yum cha are reasonable.

Dinning in is better than the takeaway shopfront, I was rushing during lunchtime and thought to get a takeaway box from a restaurant must be good. I got the 2 dishes choice, 2/3 of the box was steam rice…the tofu and pork were very little on the surface. Especially the pork dish, a lot of onions.

The food was great. Lobster was cooked to a juicy perfection. Wasabi beef was definitely a highlight and a very interesting combination. We also ordered chicken which went really well with the ginger/shallot dipping sauce. The mixed veggies were also very nice. I felt the staff were quite slow and unresponsive. Took a long time for us to get our teapots refilled. Other than that everything was pretty good. Convenient spot right near the train station and there's also a ramp for wheelchairs or prams.

Best Cantonese seafood restaurant in the surrounding suburbs by far! It’s the only place my extended HK family and their friends will go to now. The food always tastes fresh - never too oily or salty - and portions are decently sized. Covid tip - you can also order a family banquet to pick up for a dinner feast at home. Food was surprisingly well packed with elements separate for mixing when served. We had leftovers for days.

Customer service is on point even though there is a lack on staffing levels (current circumstances understandable). Food is delicious and good quality.

Disliked it. The cashier lady was very rude. The food was mediocre. Very old restaurant and doesn't look really clean. Poor ventilation as well and a staff wasn't wearing a mask and was coughing

Good Chinese restaurant. Good for yum cha and also for Cantonese style dinner. Large dining room area with big tables, good for large groups. Fish tanks and interesting decor to entertain young kids. Good food, and good service. They have private rooms for larger parties as well. Convenient parking at Strathfield shopping centre, although technically the entrance to the restaurant is not within the shopping centre itself

Wrost service on the planet. The food is under average. If you would wonder why I leave with one star, I would say because there is no negative stars could be given on Zomato . Do not waste your time . legit

Ordered 1kg of pippies. Only got 500g. We asked them about this. They reshuffled our pippies and added more vermicelli. Food had too much salt and the crab meat was full of water

Best Cantonese restaurant in Sydney!

Come here if you want to enjoy authentic Cantonese dim sum for lunch; Cantonese large dishes for sharing for dinner. Their seafood dishes are spectacular!

Poor service. Crowded, noisy, especially the way they manage booking number is horrible. We wait for half an hour for a table of 2 and then the staff said they already called us long time ago. They already lost us at their gate. If we haven't waited for too long already, would have left for another venue. Def wont come back

Those who are not familiar with Strathfield probably can't find the restaurant at the first time. It's outside the strathfield plaza, next to Oporto. The restaurant has no explicit sign unless you walk very close.

Come here for Yum Cha, morning tea as well as some Chinese dim sim. We sit in one of the tables in the hall and there would be many waitress coming to the table with a trolley of food. There I could find most of the cantonese dim sim, but they taste not as good as those cantonese restaurants. The price, however, is not as high as I expected. Different dishes have different prices, small for $5, median for $6, large for $7 each and so on.

Not the worst, but not the best. I think it is a good place to meet old friends, and is ideal for family dinner(if you prefer a grand chinese way).

Not familiar with the area & looking for Yum Cha. A search of Zomato found me this restaurant. Had some trouble locating it, was looking all over inside the shopping centre, and they have no directory. Eventually a friendly person pointed me outside to get to the restaurant. It was midweek lunch, so the place wasn't too busy. They still had a good range of food out in the trolleys. We got a few Yum Cha standards: spare ribs, chicken feet, rice roll, tripe, and congee. The quality of the food were ok, not great, but not the worst either. I wouldn't specially come out here just for the Yum Cha, but an alright option if you are in the area & craving Yum Cha.

Literally only came here to have Singaporean chilli crab hehe. The sauce was delicious with a massive side of fried mantou buns to soak up all the saucy goodness. I think it was a successful trip!

I've had dinners here before and it was quite good. The service is good and the food comes out quickly enough.

Had a family birthday here in a private room on a Sunday night where surprisingly, there was barely anyone in the restaurant besides us. We had the typical Asian banquet with the 13 courses of meals.

When food started with the opening bland soup, I knew that it was not going to be a good meal. Most dishes was quite mediocre, lacking in flavour and texture. There was only 1 dish that I absolutely love and would come back for which is the bean curd. The bean curd just melts into your mouth like nothing I have ever tasted before.

Service was attentive and fast. I don't think the waiters/waitresses spoke much english but they managed to get the dinner running smoothly. They were great in terms of refilling your glass without you having to ask but they would sometimes take your dish away before you finish eating...... Other than that, they were very cooperative in letting us use their microphone set and use the room for party games.

ups and down sums up my experience here, sometimes the food is great other times its much much less so. i find yumcha to be a slightly better experience than dinner with a wide variety of dishes for yumcha. recommend if youre craving for yumcha and near stratty
Fight The Craving
My usual go-to Yum Cha as a trade off between somewhere close and somewhere great. The food is very decent and good for value. Variety is great (as it should be). A few dishes were a real let down however.

Crispy fish was a bit soggy when it arrived, congee was far too thick, cheong fun had BARELY any soy sauce on it and there was one worker who kept bugging us every 5 minutes to buy a dish we had rejected numerous times.

That being said though, I usually have a pleasant time here.

First time to try tge dim sim in this restaurant located in strafield. Food in general is ok, price is fair, good environment for family gathering.

Having gone to school in Strathfield, I was excited to visit an old favourite destination, Crystal Seafood Restaurant, for a yum cha lunch. The pork buns were the clear highlight - they were so soft and fluffy, and were very warm, with the sweet BBQ pork filling complementing the sweet bread. The prawn noodles were also delicious, and were served with the classic soy sauce which had just the right balance of saltiness and sweetness. We also had steamed prawn dumplings and fish cake with tofu, which were good as well. Service was fairly efficient, although ordering was a bit tricky as it was hard to communicate with some of the staff. However, it was a really reasonable price!

Used to come here quite often for Yum Cha fix and to entertain our guests. Yum Cha was okay. They have nice desert called Sesame Roll. very balanced, not too sweet and I was told it is very healthy.

Came here for dinner every now and then. Not really good value for money but then again can't complain. Typical restaurant that would get your 3.0 score.

BTW this is one of the restaurant that collects holiday surcharge.

Came here for dinner, food came out pretty quick though not many people in on a Tuesday night, all the food was average, the one positive was the scallops were a pretty big size and that was the tastiest dish. The crispy skin chicken should of had more taste, same with the hot pot combination. Like all Chinese restaurants they give complimentary cookies, fruit which happened to be oranges and this sweet potato soup.
Prices were pretty reasonable,a little over $20 a person though some of the dishes it looked like portion sizes were a little small, may come back for yum Cha in future and see what's that like but you can get better for dinner though price wise it's not bad for dinner

Arrived to the restaurant at 11am and there was no wait line. There were tables for 2 almost everywhere but was seated at a corner table. Waiters were rude, non attentive and would look away if they saw us trying to wave at them for attention. Food was not fresh and quality has gone down hill. I would rather travel half an hour to eat yumcha else where then drive 10 mins to strathfield for bad customer service and bad food.

I've noticed the yum cha quality at Crystal Seafood has improved a little in recent years but regardless it's always been one of those places the family visited for a good fix of yum cha. The restaurant has also hosted a few weddings that I've been to however I've never really been a fan of a la carte at restaurants known for yum cha.

...so I had a massive yum cha craving which had to be satisfied so I visited Crystal Seafood restaurant in Strathfield for yum cha. It's located in Strathfield Plaza but the entrance is outside to the right of Oportos...

Will I come back? Probably – it’s decent yum cha at a decent price at a central location. But to be honest I’m not really picky with my yum cha! When I’m at home I go to the ones closest to my house. When I’m in the city I usually go to Marigold or Chinatown because I’ve been to them before and it’s decent.

With the extra day off thanks to Labour Day, we decided to start the day off with a leisurely brunch with some friends at Crystal Seafood Restaurant in Strathfield... Despite it being a public holiday, there was no significant wait for a table today (although it could be because of the $2 public surcharge). That being said, there was a lot of variety, and all the dishes we had today was presented to us piping hot.

Yumcha at Crystal Seafood is relatively more cheap than the City restaurant locations and was surprisingly quite empty on that Saturday.

We arrived early (11am ish) as my parents hate waiting for a table. This was a wise decision as the restaurant definitely got busy as the day progressed. We made our tea choice (poh lai) and watched the trolleys go bye, waiting for the dim sums that were our favourites. Siu mai (pork dumpling) Black pepper beef ribs Vegetable and pork dumpling Scallop and vegetable dumpling Scallop dumpling Savoury fried dumpling (not exactly sure what this is called in English) but the pastry has a slight sweet sticky taste to it whilst t

Its not glam at the Crystal Seafood Restaurant but its great value and you get the real 'cha experience. There's a healthy variety of tripes, glutinous rices and even steamed oysters and scallops, things you don't often find at the "gwai low" friendly yum
I Ate My Way Through
Early Sunday morning, crowds gather amongst the steps of this restaurant to wait for a seat. Towards the busier afternoon, numbered tickets are handed out to ensure that it's a smooth process (yes, hungry yum-cha goers can sometimes make a scene if the qu

Not the best but not the worse either, 6/10. Still rate The Palace in the city the best.

Awful service. What's the point of having a seating system when the waiting list isnt even followed. Poor service. Long waits. Poor food. Waiters have a very bad attitude there. Would suggest eating in Chinatown or Rhodes or for a cheaper yum cha experience, go to Marrickville.

Been coming here for 15 years- today is the last- slow slow slow slow slow

My go to yum cha. The place that converted me to eating yum cha, and it's far better than any competitor I've tried in the area. It gets my top spot because service is great and the food outstanding, with delicate dumplings and other assorted goodness, with very little wait time between dishes. It's reasonably priced too, about 15 per person when I go.
This place gets busy quickly on weekends and significantly on weekdays, make sure you go early on Saturday or Sunday if you want a table.
The dumplings with vegetables, garlic Choi and spinach or always the highlight as are their pan fried noodle. I'd like to see Jin doe make the menu again, but it's soo good, I'm here at least once a month for my yum cha fix.

The local family fav for price (yum cha is much cheaper than the city), consistency and convenience (great for my grandmother and young nieces with plenty of parking directly upstairs). Ask the waiters for suggestions - beef cubes with mayo dipping sauce is always a hit. Also ask for a table near a tv when a good tennis match or footy game is on, they'll happily change the channel but you might need to help with the teletext if required!

Seafood. As the name suggests, seafood is the real highlight here. The prawn dishes were good, and deep fried flounder was excellent. Crispy and tasty.

We also had other dishes such as grandma bean curd, combination hot pot, and they were just average. Stuffed mushroom was pretty good though.
