Just saw its re-opened for takeaways. Always serves great food.
The place is quite small, but it’s nice. Nice food, nice and super friendly owner (which is the chef) and waitres. Reasonable price!
I never tried cold soba before, but I fell in love with this cold soba from the first taste ($12) and always come back for more!
This is our second time having dinner here since we live close by. Overall, all the foods we have ordered are satisfying. Nice teriyaki wings, tempura, my husband ordered karage sashimi box, all are good!
A really nice Japanese restaurant amidst the plethora of Korean cuisine in Strathfield, food is value for price and quantity. The bento box is plated adorably, with the chicken katsu fried well
Super friendly service and comforting food. The Kingfish in the soup has bones so be careful when eating. The kimchi fried rice lacked in flavour for me but the California roll sushi was really good. I really liked the chili chicken and bulgogi beef. Definitely recommend !
Great authentic Japanese food and as a bonus, the staff are really friendly. I would recommend the karage chicken, the terryaki chicken is also excellent.
My husband and I went to Hiroba for our anniversary last night. OMG it was the best. The service was absolutely lovely. All our dishes were superb but my absolute favourite was the Fried Tofu in Broth. OMG it was amazing. So light. So flavourful. I am going back again and again.
Thank you to the Chef and staff.
A very conveniently located spot - because they opened til 10pm I was able to have a late dinner there. It's quite the cosy restaurant, and has a wide selection of Japanese and Korean dishes. It has the banchan (side dishes) - I got kimchi and the god-sent creamy mashed potato. My order (udon and sashimi set) came out super fast which was a very pleasant surprise. Tempura udon usually only has prawn tempura but this time it had a mix of prawn, sweet potato and potato tempura! The salmon was fresh and tasted good. Would be really keen to come back with some friends and try to korean stuff!
Quaint little restaurant. Ordered a pork kyoja and a bibimbap. The food and customer service was good, and the side dish was nice to eat. I found the Korean/Japanese food range was impressive. I would definitely come back again :)
Great food, great service = satisfaction
This restaurant is located in front of stratfield station which is convenient to all. It is a cozy restaurant filled with love. The decorations is old but blends with the new yet the food supprises me.
The ingredients was fresh, from the salmon sashimi to the fried and delicious Karage. We bought 2 sets for lunch and it was amazing. The quality of the food is spot on and after we finished the meal, we gave them a huge tip.
When you eat there, you will get side dishes for free because it's a korean-japanese restaurant. The place was clean and tidy which was a bonus. I would recommend friends to eat there for the experience.
This Korean owned Japanese restaurant is a not-so-hidden gem. Honestly, I walk past this place so often which is right next to Strathfield station, but I just never bothered going into the restaurant, as I was so fixated on their outside takeaway shop. Anyways, boyfriend took me here and it was a lovely experience. Portions are quite small, but food was unbelievably fresh!! Service is exceptional, and they play my favourite Korean tunes. Heck yes am I coming back here.
If you like and are familiar with Japanese cuisine you will find nothing to complain about here. The sushi tastes adequately fresh and eaten in a set is quite tasty and satisfying quantity wise. Clean environment
Strathfield's best Japanese & Korean restaurant. Professional, experienced, clean and fresh. Always friendly service. Always good. Excellent variety. Popular with Koreans and Skippies too.
We came here as a small group sharing a few different dishes and leaving satisfied. Although there were no stellar standouts we agree that much of anything on the menu is guaranteed to be good and the service is also lovely! Located near the station as well, this place is a good place to go to for a small pick me up.
I cannot stress how much I love this place even though I've been here twice. The small restaurant with its miniature tables makes me feel at home. The food is perfectly seasoned and focuses on the staple Asian foods I adore. You won't regret eating here.
Been here a couple of times and the food is not too shabby. However, call me a pig but I think they could be more generous with the portions. My tempura & sashimi box LOOKED and actually WAS not filling at all. Sashimi was tasty and tempura not overly greasy, but how is anyone supposed to be full off this set box. Luckily for me, my friend is a really, really small eater and wanted help finishing her sushi & soba set. It too was only a small serving but the soba noodles were very nice.
The menu does have a good mix of Korean and Japanese dishes so perhaps you’ll have better luck getting a satisfying meal with a Korean dish. Otherwise you may need to order a couple more things! Hiroba is very close to the station so extremely convenient, and the staff member working was efficient and nice, so overall still a positive experience!
Probably the only Japanese restaurant in Strathfield, Hiroba is tucked in the corner of the stations entrance.
We ordered their bento boxes, which was slightly overpriced- but packed with food. It even came with Korean side dishes- which was odd yet satisfying.
There were random 90's sushi advertisements as decor and attentive staff. No complaints!
The sushi here is fresh and delicious.
My fiancee and i came here for dinner as we hadn't had sushi since returning from Japan and were suddenly craving it.
Alongside the sushi we ordered some udon noodle soup which was good but average. But that didn't matter much as the star of the show that night for us was the sushi, which didn't disappoint. Although it cannot be compared to the taste and quality of sushi in Japan, we thought for Sydney, it was good.
Service here was also friendly and efficient, adding to the pleasant dining experience.
All in all, id go back again for more of their fresh and yummy sushi.
It is what it is. Inexpensive short order Japanese & Korean dishes in a tiny place near the station. Food is wonderfully fresh, and judging by the crowd at lunchtime on a Monday, Hiroba is popular
Cutest little Japanese restaurant run by a lovely couple. The seafood is really fresh and you can tell that the sushi is put together with care. Even though it’s a Japanese restaurant I love their cold beef noodle soup. So glad I found this little hidden gem in Strathfield!
This place has been at Strathfield for years so when i dined there - i was plesantly surprised how cute and fresh it is inside. The atmosphere feels very authentic and the customer service is very good. I highly recommend the Teriyaki chicken.
Have always been a regular at this fantastic restaurant. The staff are friendly and very attentive and the chef is always greeting you with a smile. Food has been on point every time we visited. This current visit was craving sushi. We ordered Takoyaki, sushi and sashimi platter, California roll and teriyaki chicken. Along with the mains came a few side dishes and miso soup. Once again had a great dining experience at this restaurant.
Fine Food; Somewhat Pricey; Good Service. Serving Japanese, Korean, and Japanese–Korean dishes at slightly dearer than the average Strathfield eatery, Hiroba does distinguish itself by doing food and service well. The bibimbap here is excellent; but, more impressively, the staff here, in particular for a Strathfield eatery, are not only "friendly" (they genuinely are or seem friendly) but they are attentive and engaged. Unlike many of the eateries in the area, the staff have a reasonable command of English, which certainly helps when communicating with them too.
Other highlights of Hiroba are the number of side dishes, the bentos, and what seems to be well-prepared sashimi.
On the basis of service, we would recommend Hiroba; but, given the food is also great, we would strongly recommend Hiroba.
Great combo. I always enjoy eating here. The menu is 50% Japanese and 50% Korean. The staff are great.
Very fresh sashimi and food. Pleasant dining experience, not the cheapest but definitely worth the price. I was particularly impressed by the freshness of the food, from salad to sashimi.
Nice and budget friendly food!. Great small japanese restaurant conveniently close to the station. Food is very nice and is set at reasonable prices :)!
Fresh, friendly and delicious. I love this place and have eaten here for years - the quality has remained high and the value for money is good. Great sushi and sashimi, comforting sizzling plates and stone bowls of yummy goodness plus a friendly welcome every time, the proprietor/head chef is just lovely! We eat here at least once a month and often take visiting friends and family with us. It can get very busy but be patient, it is good food!
This has to be the best bibimbap in Strathfield, which is saying something - $15 including four sides and miso soup. The sashimi and sushi here is lovely, as are the really friendly staff. For a little place tucked away against Strathfield station, this place punches above its weight.
$15 for 8 pieces of yummy sashimi with rice and miso soup. Will try other dishes next time.
Only thought we would try this place because we found it on a shake! It's a hole in the wall type place but felt a warm welcome with the sushi chef greeting us. Serves are generous, sushi so fresh and heaps of choice for mains. We may have found a new local japanese diner!!
This is a nice place for a dinner, especially if your a local hungry for a nice meal after work. Very friendly staff and meals are a decent price and size.
Nice little restaurant serving Japanese and also Korean cuisine right next door to the Strathfield train station.
The place is clean and well maintained.
toilet available in the house.
The food taste is good and the presentation is nice too.
However, the portion is on the smaller side and now the price is quite high compared to the other similar place in the area.
Electronic card payments will attract a 1.5% surcharge.
A really excellent and one of the better Japanese restaurants I've tried. The chef is professional and is there preparing all the dishes as you wait. We usually take away sushi, tuna and salmon sashimi, as well as rainbow roll and California rolls which are always a great choice. The prawn gyoza packs a lot of punch! The restaurant ambience itself isn't wow right besides Strathfield station but the food is always fresh and delicious!
Food was tasty, and staff were very friendly. However, prices were on the expensive side whereas the food was not spectacular to match the price tag.
Nice staffs , they’re really good at customer service. Also dishes here are yummy too
Worths a 5 star rating
Conveniently located literally next to Strathfield train station, this little sushi bar offers both Japanese and Korean dishes and set meals. My partner and I tried the sushi with cold soba, and a teriyaki chicken set, both of which was excellent. Food arrived very fast.
The chicken was particularly delicious, being more restrained on the device and thus producing a milder type of sweet and savory experienced. The serving size was a bit small given the price tag (it's not a degustation place), but definitely can recommend the chicken here.
Great service here and an intimate little eatery. The sashimi was fresh and selected fruits were a great addition to the Bento Box I'm used to. The teriyaki sauce on the salmon is one of the best I've tasted in a while! Will definitely come back here.
