Review Won Jo Bbq Korean Restaurant - Strathfield

Thomas Nguyen
Great service. Delicious meat and fried chicken, with other side dishes and hotpot. Just OK pricing so sharing is better, one of the better K-BBQ places in Strathfield.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of service and food at Won Jo Korean BBQ in Strathfield. The meat was fresh and not too fatty and pretty tasty. The restaurant is small but long with booth seating that fits four to six small people at most in each booth. Ideal for small groups of people.

We tried out this K BBQ place as it seemed really busy, we had to wait quite a long time. We didn’t care, just as long as the food is good. We bought the S9 Beef and Pork Rib selection for $125. Plus Kimchi fried rice, half order of boneless sweet and spicy fried chicken, and tempura prawns. The stand out was the quality of the marinated meats. I suppose you get what you pay for. We loved it! It came with complimentary tofu stew/soup and cheese and corn both in sizzle bowl and plate. My hubby liked the tofu in it, I didn’t even try it. I liked the corn. The kimchi rice was okay, very oily but I don’t have anything to compare it too. Mainly got it as to see what the hype is about on kdramas. It came with a soft boil egg that you mix in on a hot sizzle plate. Tempura prawns were over cooked (the best is at Kanzo) The Korean fried chicken I think is more for the Australian market, as the I couldn’t get any spice. The crunch was excellent but it was over powered by the sweet chill sauce. I liked the mixed salad leaves it came with. The condiments we liked were the thinly cut daikon, and pickled mustard greens, the fish cake strips, and kimchi. Plus a bowl of lettuce ! Much appreciated for the bbq meats. Staff weren’t really attentive, Yes it was busy but there was so many of them. Most were cleaning up tables, others? Standing around and hugging each other. Rather than being attentive to their customers that’s a bit sad-especially on a Friday night. The manger was helpful though , giving us tips on how to cook our meats. Was it worth $188? (I did have one can of Coke too) Hmmmm for the experience of K Bbq that’s the only thing!

I got sweet and spicy chicken today. It’s pretty much burned! Taste is disgusting. I used to go Won Jo a lot before lockdown. Not anymore! Will never come back again

Honestly was disappointed with what we received for the pricing they were asking. Sat down to a table that was dirty and the possible manager just used his hands to scrape it off. The food itself was alright but definitely not worth it. I was initially a fan of the stew as it was quite sweet but it got to a point that I got over the sweetness and it was too much. When it came down to payment, I paid by card and there was a surcharge which is understandable but when I tried to see the machine to pay the man literally took the card out of my hand and placed it into the machine. I guess tapping isn’t an option but was shook he snatched it off me without asking. Not a fan of the vibe.

second visit with a group of friends, loved it. Good atmosphere and awesome place for a late work dinner, or just a catch up with friends.

Made a vist to won jo (because next door was closed) They service was really good. The serving size for the price I thought was a bit small. Meat quality was good.

While rest of the food was avenge at best, the japchae was super salty and soupy. We told the waiter and he took it away but it came back even more soupy but less salty. However, It does not taste like japchae at all.

Originally called in the early afternoon to make a reservation for 7pm. The guy on the phone was quite friendly and nice but said he’ll have to call back around 5pm to confirm the booking. However, no one ended up calling me. I tried to call back for about 40 minutes because I wanted to extend the booking to 7:30, but their line was busy for the entire time. By 7pm, somebody from Won Jo finally called back asking bluntly, “are you coming?”. I tried to explain that I tried calling them for 40 min and that their worker never ended up calling me back. The guy was very rude and aggressive, saying finally, “if you’re late by 5 minutes, I’ll cancel your booking”. He spoke very loud with no trait of quality customer service at all. Although the food was decent, this behaviour really deters me from coming back again.

Ordered some yummy k chicken, but was served raw chicken instead. Was no biggie and sent it back, the young waitress was really sincere in her apology though it was not her fault at all. We quickly received back the same batch of chicken. We didn’t end up eating the chicken and received no compensation off the bill thanks to the stingy boss with a bad attitude. Other better places to go to in stratty.

Real rating: 5.5/10<br/><br/>The owner was quite welcoming and nice to us. We ordered the beef bulgogi and seolleongtang, Beef bulgogi is marinated well, so the dish is flavourful and goes well with rice. However, the seolleongtang was rather flavourless and would not recommend ordering it.

Won jo is one of the KBBQ I always go to back in the University days! It's an old favourite! I love their meat! Such fresh and good quality meat to cook it up on the bbq! And their side dishes!
Ted
The customer service was okay, it was better with some staff than other. The food was okay too but the cheese potato pancakes were the best! It was my first time having them but they were so good, I'd come back just for the pancakes. The sauce with it was nice as well
Michelle
I'm so surprised that they refuse to let me in because I am one person. I have been there a few times alone after work and suddenly they said that only 2 or more people are accepted between 6-9pm.<br/>Understood from the profit perspective coz you can get more money by refusing an individual customer, but do you really think it is appropriate?

Went here at 3pm, only 3 tables were occupied. I came here with my family, there were 9 of us. And the waitress said they cannot serve 9 people, maximum is 8 people. And she just shut the door on us, very rude. And turning down customers? Seriously?

Great korean restaurant in strathfield that stands out with its red tables, booth seating and higher price point dishes. Hotpot has a good broth and rich flavour. Meat is well seasoned and fresh with nice wrapping ingredients. Good tasty variety of side dishes. Service is prompt

Was nice dining here. It was my first time to eat here. Just ordered 2 bbq meats and rice with my friend. Was warm inside so it was great considering the windy weather.

Came here for lunch on sunday. There’s kbbq and normal food, so definitely something for everyone.<br/><br/>We got steam egg, stir fry pork and spicy braised short rib. The side dishes came quick, but the pork stiry fry took significantly longer than other dish.<br/><br/>The braised pork is sweet and big in portion, however it is a bit tough- not to bite but fibrous, meat get stuck in teeth very easily. The stew is soupy but it’s perfect with rice.<br/>The pork stiry fry is enough for 2, and we did end up getting takeaway box home.
Yours Truly
I came today to have the lunch special which changes daily (available weekdays) and is incredibly affordable! With the bibimbap, I also had unlimited side dishes with my personal favourite being candied yams. Would definitely recommend coming during lunch time. I’ve been here for kbbq dinners and it’s always good too.
Miss_foodie_au
Went here for a mid week dinner. Had no problems being seated. There are small partitions between tables for privacy. Ordered a beef & mushroom hot pot for 2, along with a baked egg. The hotpot came with rice and side dishes. The hotpot was tasty with beef (not top quality but still ok), mushrooms and the usual veggies + glass noodles. Not bad value for $58. The baked egg was slightly burnt at the bottom. Staff were quick to serve.
Happy Eater
As soon as I was told to sit down at my desk near the back of the restaurant I could already smell an unpleasant odour. The seats were dirty and cutlery were still dirty. The side dishes that came out were warm like as if they were left outside instead of putting it in the fridge. I had two bimbimbap and the rice were soggy and not enough meet. The heated plate was not hot enough for my rice to be crispy. Service was ok

the most vegan friendly korean restaurant in strathfield. i very much appreciate the fact that the menu has little broccolis (trees???) next to their vegan dishes. it makes it 1000x easier for vegans to pick out a good meal, rather than playing the guessing game.<br/>i’ve tried both the mushroom/tofu bibimbap dishes, as well as the sundubu. all three dishes were nice but pretty average. the bibimbap dishes were laden with sesame oil so it made me feel a bit sluggish afterwards.<br/>otherwise, i am very appreciative of the broccolis on the menus and because of this, although the food is not something i would find myself craving often, won jo will always be my go-to korean restaurant in strathfield. 🥦

A local Korean restaurant in korean town... a nice lovely place to eat however the food lacked a bit compared to other korean places I have been too, the pancake was mushy not crispy, the beef set was fairly large enough to feed 4 ppl when there was only 2 of us, one great thing is that there was plenty of side dishes to pick from.. clearly we ordered too much but no one recommended us to cut down.. but why would they right? Overall very average flavours and service .

Won Jo is one of my favourite Korean restaurants in Strathfield. I’ve tried their BBQ, hotpot, fried chicken, hot stone soups as well as lunch specials. I have enjoyed everything, although I think Seoul Project does better pork trotter, but still love this place.
RWfoodie
Great location near Strathfield station. We ordered the combination A set with rice and a coke totalling $80. It was a great deal with 5 different meats, corn cheese as service and heaps of side dishes. The meat was very well cut and tasted very fresh. What tipped it down to 3 stars was the staff service on the floor. They were quite unresponsive and slow when asked for extras or grill changes.
Evelyn Chen
Probably the oldest Korean restaurant in Strathfield. Went there one day for BBQ. The kimchi was for free and could be added at any time. But not for the kimchi pancake. The kimchi pancake was delicious and huge, so it is better to save for the last. Beef hot pot was great, the beef was tender and the sauce was savory. The barbecue of seafood was just average but it turned out amazing for the ox tongue. However the fried chicken tastes disappointing, with little taste crisp.
Naomi Wu
Fried chicken has too much batter, little meat. Good variety of BBQ meats. I was quite disappointed with their stir fry pork bibimbap. It has weird crunch to it and very little pork. The pork was very dry and not tasty.
AliceMM
Big queue but worth the wait. Friendly staff, prompt service and delicious food and beverage. My mum love their plum wine, and we love anything marinated. Will comeback again :)
Elaina
Favorite kbbq, tied with wagyuhouse !! Meat is excellent here especially the wagyu tho I must say the 3 per dish limit on side dishes (which all taste amazingggg) is a lil disappointing but what can ya do... anyways the sets are pretty good value for money and the ambiance is always really lively, customer service is adequate
Hungry Foodies
Expect it to be busy, long lines, especially during weekend nights.<br/>The jajangmyun, kimchi jiggae and bossam is really good here! Always come back for their jajangmyun. Fried chicken is a miss- basic but wouldn't come here for KFC.<br/>Good korean food
Phammage
My new fav go to bbq place for groups and the like. Their appeal over other joints like jtb is the set meals on offer including Meat platter+hot pot of choice + seafood pancake + noodle stir fry. We had 4 people, worked out $35ish each. <br/>The marinates are not too sweet and the bulgogi and mushroom hot pot is potent and moorish. But book ahead. It’s packed out all the time
Tingwu729
Average Korean food nothing special, I ordered the chicken soup the texture is weird feel like is not fresh other food is just average nothing worth trying

Had high expectations but was let down by the experience. It wasn't very busy at night mainly because it was close to closing. The interior is nice and the restaurant isn't cramped. Service was good. Food however wasn't that great. It wasn't like typical Korean food that you get at other restaurants. The prices are pretty fair, though the menu on Zomato needs to be updated. Wouldn't dine again.
Lily
Food was okay, tasting. The portions was good amongst 4 people. Ordering beef skirt ($19) & short rib (24$). Ordering a sushi platter that was (18$), very mediocre and a the bean flavour in the jajangmyeon ($10) was a bit too strong and the noodles were bland, eatable but not very enjoyable for myself. The lettuce wrap tasted a bit uncared for. Service was okay and attentive. Okay meal overall.
Richelle Dianne Ramos-Giang
Ordered combination A for 2 (which is easily enough for 3 people) of beef and pork, everything tasted good except for the pork belly. Would be good if they will serve more authentic korean side dishes and sauce.<br/>
JJfoodie
I come here for good Korean food. I love how they have tables that have covers because it feels cosy and private. The service is alright. The food is delicious, they serve you a large portion which is great and worth the price. Would recommend this place!
Nadia Wayland
Great food, it was delicious and portion was plentiful. Service was prompt and they responded to us well even though it was a very busy night. Would definitely come back.
Babybao
Wonjo is pretty popular as it is generally busy, service is quick but not always friendly. We ordered the wagyu set A which is more than enough for 2 people. They also offer an extensive range of Korean dishes, we tried the chicken cutlet with rice which I would not recommend. The sauce tasted terrible.
Lizhandle
the fried chicken and food is good. portion sizes are decent but customer service isn’t the best. asked to split a $20 to smaller change and was told no. further, grease from underneath the table near the BBQ leaked on my jeans and two other friends jeans. didn’t realise till we had left. the grills took a while to heat up and cooked the meats very slow because there no are fume hoods present as much as other KBBQ so takes a while for food to cook. overall, maybe will visit again but only for the fried chicken and other dishes, not for KBBQ

Friends and I ordered a large hotpot to share, 2 mini soup pots, pork belly and thin skirt beef for bbq. As for drinks we ordered x1 Soju and a few soft drinks.<br/><br/>The waitress that took our order was so rude that she swore "Shibal" in Korean several times whilst putting those mini snack plates on the table. She also said the same swear word couple of times and added a few more Korean words with a harsh tone to her sentence when my two friends didn't move to excuse her while she placed our food on the table. When she came along with X4 silver bowl of rice (hot straight out of the heating cupboard) she technically dumped it on the table and swore a couple more times. Other waitresses glared everytime they walked past but still hosted us with a smile. Called for manager and manager did not do anything other than tell her not to serve our table, then everytime she walked past she would either glare or shake her head.<br/><br/>Overall, food was your typical Korean BBQ restaurant, nothing special. Service was absolutely ridiculous and disgusting to witness as Koreans are usually hospitable people.<br/><br/>None of us were Koreans but "Shibal" was a pretty obvious swear word that Koreans would use. Even if we didn't know that swear word noone should ever use it especially when dealing with customers.<br/><br/>Will I ever go back to dine? Absolutely a big fat NO.

This place had great customer service and the tables were nicely separated so we could eat in private without it being too noisy. We ordered spicy rice cakes dukbokki and two meats- bulgogi and marble beef. The rice cakes were a good portion. The bulgogi was well marinated and the marble beef was really smooth and tender. The price was alright considering it was kbbq. What I really liked about this place was that it offered so many side dishes and korean side dishes are my absolute favourite when it comes to kbbq! The more side dishes there are, the more impressed i am! 😊

5/5 Taste<br/>3.5/5 Display <br/>4/5 Quantity <br/>4.5/5 Customer Service <br/><br/>Authentic Korean Traditional Soup Restaurant in Sydney Strathfield.<br/><br/>Visited this place first thing I arrived in Sydney, food was great, reminded me of my food back at hometown. <br/>Their soup was clearly rich, probably took longer than a day to prepare the stock. <br/>They weren’t shy about chucking in heaps meat in the soup too.<br/><br/>This soup is best for hangover! <br/>

Everything was exact just to satisfy my korean bbq cravings! We went around 7 and it was pretty packed but that did not affect the service at all. We got all our servings quickly and staff was helpful when needed. All the meat was fresh and delicious with all the sides being endless and tasteful as well!
Angie Lubong Chatelu
Among the food that we ordered, we liked the potato noodle and leek pancake. The sweet chili chicken were nice but we find the fried chicken dry. I wish they have wet wipes for cleaning hands.
Georgia Sanchez
One of my favourite Korean BBQ places to visit in Strathfield. Ordered the combination B plate and the meat was of good quality. We also ordered the raw beef tartare salad which was amazing with the dressing. Only downside is it is slightly on the pricey side but definitely worth it if you want good Korean BBQ

''This was extremely mediocre. I am never coming back again.' - my sister wraps up the overwhelming feeling after our dinner at Won Jo.<br/><br/>Although the service was efficient, especially considering how busy it was (even on a Tuesday night), the food ranged from less than pleasant to mediocre.<br/><br/>Perhaps it depends on the things you order, since we got individual dishes and did not opt for the barbeque but we got the:<br/><br/>Mushroom bibimbap: did not come with an egg, was a bit dry, had to add our own gochujang sauce. Taste was quite ordinary and was better when supplemented with some side dishes.<br/><br/>Seafood pancake: mediocre, slightly tasteless<br/><br/>Japchae: small portion for a medium considering it was $20. Was one of the better options of the night, springy sweet noodles.<br/><br/>Black bean noodles: DO NOT GET. Surprised at how tasteless it could get.<br/><br/>Overall, the taste did not make up for the price paid. I honestly do not think I'll ever come back.<br/><br/>Original rating was 2.5 but efficient service bumped it up.<br/><br/>
Eunifoodie
Had their sashimi bibimbap and kimchi jiggae. Bother we’re pretty good, sashimi in the sashimi bibimbap wasn’t that fresh though. They give a good amount of side dishes so that’s always a plus.
Christina Nguyen
definitely one of the busier kbbq spots. located in strathfield it is always packed even on a monday night. the servings and quality of food is top notch. quite disappointed by the steamed egg this time because it was quite dry but it may have been a one off thing.<br/><br/>disappointed by the yoghurt soju, tasted quite weird. but all in all, still great.
YUXIPANDA
Great staff! They're so friendly and always come rushing to cook for you haha. The meat is really fresh and decent serving sizes! If you get the $25pp set you'll definitely be rolling out of the restruarant
Pacc
One of the more busier korean joints and i can see why. Service was attentive, food was pretty good and the ambience was lively. I particularly liked their half sz boneless chicken, garlic soy flavour $18. The black bean noodles $10 are a miss, its too soft. Good chicken cutlet $15.5 and beef bulgogi $16.5 was nice also. Wont mind coming back.
Babbibelle
Really good extensive menu and good service. Definitely, recommend the teriyaki chicken as it's fried chicken with teriyaki sauce on top, we ordered the bbq ox tongue & bulgogi which came with a special corn & cheese special bbq side dish and so much ban chan (entree side dishes!). <br/>It was so much food for 2 people & only cost us $32 each! So good! Keen to get back there for more bbq!<br/>They were also good at swapping over the bbq plates often so they didnt burn and smell.
William Wu
One of my favourite Korean restaurant in Strathfield. It's very popular and you usually have to wait outside for a while if you come here after 7PM.<br/><br/>Although the restaurant is famous for the BBQ, there're a great variety of Korean food to choose from. {Beef Stew Soup} comes in a hot stone bowl. The soup is not spicy, and instead pretty tasty. The beef is super soft and is a bit juicy.<br/><br/>We also tried their BBQ. If you don't feel like reading the menu they have many set menu to choose. You can always find a set menu that is suitable. And I would recommend ordering this because you get to try different kind of meat.<br/><br/>You need to cook the meat by yourself. So it is a good choice to go with friends. The lettuce and dipping are free and it's free to ask for more.<br/>However it's always noisy. But it is the same as other majority of Korean restaurants.

Came here for the cheesy dduk bok gi with my girlfriend and I'm amazed at how much we ordered. We even ordered the rice cake as well and it made me so full even those im lactose, but it was still worth the experience to try!
Kristen Chan
Love the fried chicken here- especially the sweet and spicy. We got a half n half plate with that and the original- which was a little plain. Their cheesy ddebokki was also great and fast service
The Hungry FoodTech [shirley.gondo]
Had their BBQ today and the meats were sensational! Especially the marbled wagyu😍 .. the ox tongue was not as expected tho. <br/><br/>They have daily lunch special too like for example today the seafood tofu soup with rice is only $11.50 instead of $16 :) the staffs were helpful and attentive. And they have good exhaust system too!
Benkyousuru
Just another Korean barbecue in Sydney, neither the interior nor food quality was above average. It was extremely cramped inside with minimal gaps between tables, that amplified the sound of staff dropping dinnerware. Menu had plenty to choose from, yet didn’t make it hard to decide. <br/><br/>Of the barbecued meats; bulgogi, chicken and pork belly were the best of the bunch. Beef tongue was chewy. Beef short rib hotpot might’ve been the most outstanding. Cheese Tteok-bokki was decent. Overall, it wasn’t bad value for what we got.

Price: 3/5<br/>Taste: 4/5<br/>Service: 4.5/5<br/>Decor and presentation: 3.5/5<br/>Visits: 3<br/><br/>Won Jo has lunch specials which makes many of their dishes very affordable on certain days. Include the free unlimited side dishes and your meal is even more worth your money. I particularly like their bean sprouts and sweet potato side dishes but there’s something for everyone. Their dishes are well done, satisfying and generally well-priced even if you don’t get lunch specials. They also do Korean BBQ if you’re really craving meat but try their pork bone stew, it’s a favourite of my friend.
Annie Nguyen
Steamed egg soup (3.5/5): So fluffy and came out really fast! There was nothing special about this soup but it was still enjoyable. Can't go wrong with fluffy egg! <br/><br/>Vegetable rice cake (4/5): The rice cakes were cooked perfectly - loved the soft but slightly chewy texture and the sauce it was in was the perfect amount of sweet and spicy.<br/><br/>Would return here to try more food :)
LittleM
It was a hit and miss with the dishes we had for dinner here. The japchae was bland in taste, and seafood pancake was too doughy whereas it would've been better to cook it longer to make it crispier. However the cold noodle soup and beef tartare bibimbap were tasty.
Miss Song
Been this restaurant 3 times, seafood hot pot was decent, fried chicken was nice and a bit pricy for Bbq. Hi owner, actually you need to retrain your staff the proper way to serve customers. The old waiter at the counter was pretty rude, didn’t even say one word, just pushed a recipe on the desk.
Accuratee
Set A for 4 people ($138) was enough for my group of 6, which was really worth it. The kimchi hotpot was delicious and definitely my favourite. Enough food as there were several additional sides. Definitely would return here when I'm craving Korean BBQ😋.
Anika Chadha
Unfortunately, as much as I would love to give them more stars based on the food, the service was not good. We got there around a busy dinner time so understandably, there was a line of people building up. But that does not excuse them to be rushing us through our dinner. First, they sat us and completely ignored us for 5 min, until I decided to call one of them to get the menus. Second, once the food was out- this one waitress kept coming up to our table and would randomly sauté our meats. We ordered some bbq meats and I’m particular about how I cook them. She just came up and completely disrupted our meal.<br/><br/>We have had Korean bbq many times before at different restaurants and they have NEVER done that. Then she proceeds to turn off our heat when we still had a whole plate of veggies (which we paid extra for) that were uncooked. We also brought my one year old son and I do understand that babies can make a mess but we just felt uncomfortable the whole time cuz they kept coming back to our table and messing with our food and table. We felt odd as this was not happening to any other table around us. <br/><br/>Last, and this got me so mad, my husband took my son to the restroom to clean up and on his way there is had to pass that rude waitress. As she pass them, she completely shoved her way thru and pushed her body against my son, not saying excuse me or whatever. I was NOT happy. No one treats customers, let alone children like that. Leave your problems at the door and do the job you are paid for. We are paying customers who did NOTHING wrong. It’s a shame because the food was not so bad, although the pork was really really fatty. <br/><br/>Never coming back here again.
Alison Nguyen
Its a bit pricy compared to other korean restaurants but it’s worth it! The korean fried chicken here is really good, this is my go to restaurant for late night eats!
Jesslikestoeat
Won jo was the first place where I tried Korean cuisine just over 5 years ago. Now, it remains as one of my favourite Korean restaurants/ bbq places as food is here is amazing for decent prices. Best tteokbokki! The only reason why I didn’t give a 5 Star rating is that there are now less side dishes served and we had to constantly ask for water refill. Regardless, I would still return here in the future.
Hungrycatherine
I have been here once before and the quality is great compared to other Kbbq places in Strathfield. <br/><br/>I ordered the Bulgogi (marinate is great!) and the pork belly (good) and there was a total of around 7 side dishes (A+ quality) and a the waiters gave us a complimentary hot plate corn and cheese side dish! <br/><br/>Love it love it! Will keep coming back and trying out other dishes! <br/><br/>Note: This place is busy on weekends so I would suggest booking beforehand or come early as there is a line outside.
Onara
I found Won Jo to be clean and quick, friendly and affordable. $16.50 got me a good sized bibimbap, with soup and accompaniments. Food quality seems fine too
James Ay
Arrogant owner and staff. 1 male and female in particular. I would not recommend going here. I’ve been here twice and it’s the exact same thing every time . Back chatting, slamming dishes and drinks on our table. Funny how we understand what you’re saying when you talk behind our backs. Disgusting.
Tian Weng
Came here for the first to try it out. Great experience! Food came out quickly and was very tasty. We had the lunch specials and awesome value for money.<br/>Will definitely be favourited for next korean craving.
Chao
We were in the mood for bibimbap so we ordered 2 - spicy pork and mushroom. I found the mushroom bibimbap way too oily. The meal came with miso soup and 5 side dish options.
Nancy Li
Pleasantly surprised! Solid side dishes - 5/6 even though I was dining by myself. The tofu soup was awesome, slightly more exxy than neighbouring restaurants but very well worth it (the wooden bowl next door isn't great!)
Kellie W
It was my first time here and I was sure impressed. My friends and I were immediately seated upon arrival and were given side dishes and drinks. We ordered the half and half chicken, Napa wraps with pork and the seafood pancake. <br/><br/>The half and half chicken was made up of half a serving of regular fried chicken and half a serving of sweet chilli covered chicken. I really enjoyed the original flavour as it was peppery and delicious! The chicken was tender and juicy! <br/><br/>Napa wraps and pork was a first for me! You basically get a piece of lettuce and place some of the red thing (I have no idea what it is) and a heated piece of pork. And in one bite, there it goes. Mouth watering! <br/><br/>The seafood pancake did not meet my expectations. I expected a crisper and less dense pancake but got something unique and different. This restaurant’s seafood pancake had a range of seafood in it including baby oysters, calamari, prawns and many more. But it was too dense for my personal liking.
S J
we ordered a 4 people meal set, everything is excellent!!! love the taste of hotpot and fried chicken. Also, the quantity they provide is a lot, absolutely worth it to try
Food Is Really Great
Everything about this place is good! The bibimbaps have a variety of fresh ingredients inside, and theres so much variety in the menu too including mushroom, or beef with egg. The tofu stew is really good for cold weather too, although just a heads up, even the “less spicy” option is still spicy 🔥
Monica
We always have korean BBQ in WonJo.Its my favorite BBQ restaurant in syd!The meat is so tender especially the wagyu!I love meat!😋😋😋😋😋😋😋<br/>

Terrible service. Thats all I can say. Rude waiter & waitress. Not even a single friendly one, all are rude and not helpful at all. No smile at all.
Rebecca Kung
One of my favourite places to go to for kbbq as they never let me down. The staff are super friendly and sometimes even help me out when it's not too busy. I love to come here as I always get good value for money and the atmosphere is vibrant. I highly recommend Wonjo for any size group of guests!
Danielle Nguyen
First time coming here and I was surprised with the many varieties they had on the menu. The meat was flavoursome and tender. Would come back to try other items on the menu 👍

My favourite place for Korean food in Strathfield!<br/><br/>Been here several times and have been consistently pleased with the food. Love their fried chicken - especially with the sweet/spicy and garlic/soy sauce - it's juicy crunchy, well seasoned, plus it's all boneless! Side dishes are tasty and generous too. <br/><br/>It's always packed out on Saturday nights so would recommend coming here early!
Tinkabellez
Good value for money, short wait for tables & quick service. Food is delicious whether you decide for Korean BBQ or go for other food items on the menu
The Sydney Tram
Been to Wonjo for years for what I used to consider best Korean BBQ and bibimbap. Love the Korean fried chicken, fried pancake, and most of their dishes. However, recent visits made me disappointed. Firstly, when I was sitting next to the wall for BBQ, as we looked up, there was layer of dust waiting to drop anytime into our food. What worse was, the fan on top was on. I couldn't swallow any bit of the meat afterwards. <br/><br/>Secondly, the waitress who cleaned up the table seemed to be pretty upset with her boss/ her job. She literally threw the plates into the collecting tray, not once, but many times that I could not help but turned my back to check what was going on. The manager, on the other hand, looked oblivious, like he couldn't care less about her. <br/><br/>Thirdly, staff took ages to attend your table. So sad but have to say goodbye to Wonjo.

Friends and I went after BTS concert, it was so busy but the wait wasn't long at all and the food came out really fast w/ great service from workers! If u go with a group of friends , you wouldn't even be able to finish the sets! They're so big and delicious, so worth it

Came at lunch time last week. This place has a good assortment of banchan. Did feel a little rushed by the staff however the food was very tasty. The meat and vegies in the dishes tasted very fresh and the waiter had good English and was helpful in offering suggestions

This is a popular Korean BBQ joint near Strathfield station. The price is reasonable and and food is acceptable. However the service is a bit rushed and a bit careless. Overall, it has a good atmosphere. Btw, the yakult soju is very easy to drink.

One of the best Korean BBQ places I have been to. The beef they serve is absolutely delicious! Service is very good and the workers are nice :)

The meat was nice and tasty, I also order the Bibimbap, but it wasn't that nice. My table also ordered spicy rice cakes to share and they were quite nice. I booked a table so there was no wait. The place is a bit dirty however. The staff were nice but I saw one of them scratching their butt (like shoved into their pants) which was very off-putting.

The first time trying this KBBQ place and I can already say that this could possibly be my favourite Korean BBQ place! The service was quick and great. Staff members were very friendly and helpful. Food was reasonably priced and was delicious. I would definitely come back for a second time. I recommend trying this KBBQ out if you're looking for a nice and casual restaurant in Strathfield.

Decent food amongst the many Korean restaurants located in Strathfield. Wooden interior with many tables. Staff were not so friendly especially when I was enquiring about the menu. I ordered a BBQ Pork which was very expensive compared to the restaurants nearby ($16.50) and it was a very small portion size. However, they had a large variety of side dishes but it took a while to arrive. I am pretty disappointed overall.

Such a rubbish Korean Restaurant! Very disappointed! My friends and I came to here for dinner waiting for table for 3, there's a young lad ask us to go to another place we refused and told him we just came from that place and seems no vacant place. And yet we saw an free table just near the door. After waited for a while we've been called, the young lad ask us to sit table near the door which is vacant before! Since I just had fever two days ago, I ask the young lad can we move into the inside table as we seen people coming out from inside, then he said to me, "no, you can't. If you want sit in a inside table you need to go out and wait!"<br/>WTH? Such a disgraceful restaurant!

Such a yummy kbbq restaurant in the heart of Strathfield! Although prices are a bit high, it is good to go with 4+ people so that you can invest in the set menu which is extremely filling and delicious 😊

Feeling quite hungry, and also the intense craving of Korean BBQ, we arrived at Wonjo with our sights set on the Set A meal deal. There was not a long wait needed for the food to arrive as it was relatively quick, considering how busy the store was when we were eating. Our table was loaded with dishes!!! <br/><br/>• We chose to eat the 'Ramen and Sausage' hotpot which was a massive dish of mushrooms, green leafy vegetables, rice cake, kimchi, spam, sausages and shredded carrots. <br/><br/>• The stir fried noodles were quite nice and were imbued the essence of sesame oil. The side dishes were amazing! I particularly enjoyed the corn and cheese side dish.<br/><br/>• As we were grilling the meat, the plate was often changed by the attentive waiters when they saw that the meat which was stuck to the plate had gathered up. <br/><br/>• Overall, despite its 'busyness', the service was quite fast and the waiters were really friendly, and the food was delicious!<br/><br/>

The food was great. The portions are pretty good. However, service could be a bit better. Some waiters were giving us dirty eyes when we wanted to sit further away from the doors because we were really cold. Wasn't quite sure why because there was nothing different between the tables closer to the door and the tables further from the door. <br/>When we wanted to order, one of the managers were really rude when asked if we could order a soju. He strongly kept rejecting even wjen we asked why. However, another waiter came and explained to us the situation that because it was almost 9.40pm and we could order soju but however whether we finished or not they would have to remove it. Which was more reasonable.

Dropped by for a quick lunch and ordered the squid bimbimbap. When it came out was very disappointed there was no egg in it?! Questioned it with staff who said you need to pay extra its standard on beef only. Its not about the price adding extra egg, but it could of been more specific in the menu as it already took long enough for the bimbimbap which is not that hard to make, could not be bothered waiting for a fried egg to eat my meal! They could just increase the already expensive price for what it is and include the egg for convenience! The serving of squid was really small so its like eating the vegetarian bimbimbap instead and the price is abit high for what it is! Overall would not order this again!

Attracted by the store by the long line queued outside. When it was our turn to go in the waiter told us there he was going to take us to their other store just a minute away. First, we were shown to our seats. After filling out cups with water a waitress comes over asking if we could move tables. We were a table of 5 with a baby, giving us the reason that there was a table of 10 coming in. Helpless, we moved tables. Expecting to be given new clean cups the waitress brought over our cups from the other table mixing them so we didn't know who's cup was who's. The plates given to us to eat in was not clean and oily. And there was not enough chopsticks provided. The waitress also took our order wrong, no big deal for the store but caused us great in convenience as it was the only dish that the baby could eat (not spicy). The kimchi side dish was not fresh as well as the mini oysters that accompanied the steamed pork. The seaweed side dish was too sour. The steamed egg was burnt and shouldn't even be served, it was bitter(this was also for the baby) Hot pot was expensive and had literally almost nothing in it. Fried chicken was okay but there was only 5 pieces of chicken. Overall, bad experience, bad food, bad service. This 'second' store was pretty much empty most of the time as well. Tbh, if your customers are lining up for seats the food is normally good. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the 'second' store as it's a completely different kitchen and chef.

There was a lot to like with Won Jo. I didn’t know about this, but apparently they have two branches in Strathfield, and it was certainly needed as they were full at 6:30pm. The staff were nice and actually walking the customers to the other branch, although just as we were about to follow, a table for six opened up so we could stay.<br/><br/>Staff continued to be helpful and efficient all round. I was eating vegan during the time I went so had a lot of questions and requests for pretty much everything. No one got annoyed and one girl even rushed back to apologise because she had mistakenly told me there was no egg in a side dish. It was nice to see everyone being really accommodating, it just makes eating out that much more enjoyable. Although I am pretty sure a big reason for this was the clear communication with them as I also speak Korean (I know this firsthand from all the struggles at restaurants where English is not the first language).<br/><br/>Ordered quite a number of things; avocado salad, leek pancake, kimchi pancake (twice!), mushroom bibimbap, soft tofu soup, jja jjangmyun (black bean noodles, which surprisingly had no meat), prawn dumplings, and fried chicken. Along with some delicious soju concoctions; one lemon one and the other was cucumber!<br/><br/>First things first, the kimchi pancake needs a special mention. It was seriously one of the best, if not THE best kimchi pancake I have had at a restaurant. The first one was so perfectly crispy and ridiculously delicious, we all jumped on it right away and ordered a second. It wasn’t as good (just needed to be cooked for a few seconds longer though) but it was still BOMB. Yes please, to this pancake, YES PLEASE.<br/><br/>Leek pancake wasn’t too bad either, I think some actually preferred it over the kimchi. Maybe. I don’t know how, but maybe.<br/><br/>Everything else was pretty good too. I tried the noodles, soft tofu stew, and salad as well. The salad was actually the surprise here, because you tend to not expect much from a Korean restaurant when it comes to a simple salad, but it was really nice. Prawn dumplings were apparently average.<br/><br/>Also, now have a newfound love for lemon soju. What did they doooo to it? Lemonade/sprite + soju is just not the same.

Went here with my friends for lunch. Food was great, the service was fast and The price is decent. Both of the fried chicken and the bbq were good👌🏼

I usually come here whenever JTB is busy and they're both on par with each other. Won Jo has more variety which is nice when you're after something other than meat dishes

Quick lunch passing through since I was craving Korean sides. They have quite a wide variety of rice dishes/soup to choose from, but didn't try their kbbq. Stone pot bibimbap with beef and egg-$16.50. I love how it came in a sizzling bowl, which made the bottom bits of rice nice and crunchy. Good serving size with a variety of fresh veggies. I'm glad I got normal beef instead of bulgogi since you can use the side dishes to give the rice/beef flavour. I can appreciate how people flavour their rice by eating it with kimchi. I guess this kimchi wasn't too spicy if I could eat it (or my chilli tolerance has increased lol).

I had an epic craving for tteokbokki (Korean rice cake) so based on another blogger's advice (all about food blog), I went to Won Jo in Strathfield. I head there on a Friday night where it's actually quite busy. I can smell a lot of BBQ meats so I gathered that this place is primarily a Korean BBQ place. It smells delicious and everyone around me seems to be enjoying themselves. Every few tables has a bit of privacy with these little walls. For full review including photos, go to blog post

My go to place when I want Korean fried chicken <br/><br/>Hands down, the best sweet n spicy fried chicken out there. No bones, just a good amount of chicken and sauce. Always on point 👌🏼<br/><br/>Service is good and the prices reasonable.<br/><br/>Always satisfied here<br/><br/>Showtime ✌🏼

Won Jo is in my opinion, a really reliable place in Strathfield to get a Korean food feed. They have a menu abundant of choices from kbbq to rice and stews, lots of seating, and efficient service. Their fried chicken is always crunchy and delicious, being one of my main recommendations. On this visit we also tried their kimchi stew and bossam (boiled pork wraps). Both while not the best were really satisfying!

We were eager for more Korean food after trying budae jjigae for the first time. Being quite inexperienced when it comes to Korean cuisine, we jumped at the opportunity when our friend, Chaky, invited us to scout Strathfield out for dinner. We ended up at the local favourite Won Jo which, funnily enough, we had visited before for the bibimbap.

Food was average but service was an absolute disgrace.<br/><br/>We decided to have some Korean for dinner. Where else could be better than in Stratsfield?<br/><br/>I ordered a fish roe soup and checked with our waiter (with a supervisor tag on him) whether we could have just fish roe, and no other kinds of seafood as I am allergic to crustaceans. He said yes. It came out with prawns, pipies and squids. I just gently asked if I could have another one without any of those, just fish roe. This was<br/>when things went ugly. He blamed me for not telling him about it properly. He was extremely aggressive towards us and had the support the his manager to proceed with it. <br/><br/>I didn't want to make more of a fuss about it so I just had what I could.<br/><br/>Coming back? No, thank you.<br/><br/>Tips: take a Korean-speaking friend with you or you shouldn't be allergic to anything or you may suffer food poisoning at your own risk.<br/>
