Review Meeka Restaurant - Subiaco

Inex Palit
Having dined at Meeka multiple times, I know for sure that the food will always be good for the soul and tummy ☺️😊 Meeka also has a big wine list that is great for all wine lovers 🍷🥂 The Chef's Selection menu is a good idea to do if you're not sure about what you want. Inform them of your dietary requirements, and they will curate a fun dining experience for you.

a wonderful evening......great food...perfect ambience..... friendly staff, making you feel like home. Definitely worth a visit.

The food here is phenomenal. The portions are very generous and the taste is on point. Come hungry and enjoy, I will definitely be back for more. Black garlic lamb and Turkish delight donuts are a must have, they were the stars of the meal for sure.

Out on a Friday night for dinner at Meeka restaurant enjoying with my sis and we tried the chefs menu and all the dishes are delicious. The highlight is the cauliflower dish and the duck pastries these are two of my favourite dishes. I can say I am not a cauliflower fan at all when I go to restaurants. Meeka’s cauliflower dish is deep fried with candied dukkah, almond tartor and lime. I can say I am in heaven.

What an assault on the tastebuds! The only disappointment I had was not dining in. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. This is a must try.

Fabulous, food was amazing. Every dish cooked to perfection, friendly yet professional staff. Duck pastries, Stracciatella, Tagines….. foodie heaven!

AMAZING WINE AND FOOD!! Service was absolutely impeccable - complete with two unexpected complimentary wine tastings when the sommelier noticed how much we were enjoying the wine we ordered. The food was delicious - well balanced and well seasoned - particularly recommend the duck pastries. We also loved the fish of the day and the donuts (even though not being huge donut fans - these were amazing!). Incredible restaurant! We will be back!

Great food amd great service. The highlight was definitely the dessert. The warm turkish delight doughnuts were just heavenly! I am not a turkish delight fan usually but these were so good. We had the fried cauliflower (def recommend!), chicken tajine, cheese pide and duck pastries (recommend as well). The service was very good and our waitress was very friendly. Thanks for a great evening.

A group of 4 of us had a meal last Saturday night. Due to CV19 restrictions, the menu offered 4 entrees and 4 mains only, so we ordered one of each, except swapping out a chicken tajine with the special offer goat dish. The food was superb and the service great. Paired with a great wine (Ravensworth Sangiovese), a very enjoyable meal. The reason I gave it only 4 stars was that the value for money wasn’t there. The set price of $58pp for a 2 course meal is excessive, more so given that on a past visit we couldn’t finish the meals - they were so generous. This time, all plates were scraped clean. Even so, we decided to forgo the dessert as paying another $20pp just seemed excessive.
I appreciate we are living in difficult times and we all need to support local businesses, but that can’t be at the cost to customers who are also doing it tough.
I can’t wait for Meeka to get back to normal and will be returning when they have done so.
Marisa
For an unsophisticated taste bud, this would have been "amazing" food. But could get same deal for a fraction of the price from a office hour cafe serving bain marie. Can you imagine a tagine served at room temperature? Eeeeewwww.the spices used were limited, cinnamon, cumin and sugar, everything just had one similar sweet taste. I wish I had scrolled down to see all reviews, before I marched off to the restaurant. Service by the female staff was good, male staff had poor attitude.. Odd place.

Meeka never fails to impress and continues to be one of my favourite restaurants in Perth. The food really does speak for itself - each dish has been well thought out, put together and served beautifully. You cannot go wrong with any of their signature tajines- the chicken is tender and delicious and the lamb Tagline is wonderfully flavourful, served with pearl couscous. The wood fired lamb pide is very good (highly recommend), and you cannot go past the baharat fried cauliflower (best in Perth - and I’ve tried ALOT). So many nice dishes to choose from - going with at least 4 people and ordering multiple mezze to share dishes is a great way to sample all the flavours. If you still have room for dessert, the tasting platter is a winner (or at the very least try their signature Turkish delight donuts). Good ambience, waitstaff are very attentive, helpful and professional, and they have a killer wine list - Meeka ticks all the right boxes.
Food Baby
Loved loved the 14 hour wood fired cooked lamb and the amazing fried cauliflower entree. Would come again just for those dishes. Great service too.

Not a bad restaurant just average, but overpriced.

Absolutely beautiful. Food, staff atmosphere exceptional experience we will be back.

I would highly recommend Meeka - I have eaten there a few times recently, and every time I have been very impressed with the service, the food, and the wine selection (along with the wine education I’ve received from their passionate and knowledgeable staff!)

The flavour combinations in the food are amazing - so many complimentary flavours without the experience being overwhelming. The duck pastries are always a winner, and the Black Garlic Lamb Shoulder is incredible. I’m a sweet-tooth, and the deserts are amazing!

The staff are friendly, funny and attentive.

Great experience. Highly recommended!

Went following several recommendations.

We were, frankly, disappointed.

We thought the food was bland and expensive.

The service was okay but complacent.

Overall, disappointing.
Wonderful restaurant with excellent service , interesting and tasty menu. Great wine selection, a slight downer was desserts, very sugary. Nonetheless will definitely be back.
Clint
A nice atmosphere and delightful food selection. Reasonably priced and the service was ok. The main food dishes took 45 minutes to arrive even on a quiet night. Although was worth the wait. I would return just for the sweets selection. Worth a look.
LittleAsianGirl
Delicious!!! Absolutely enjoyed the food here. We had the $60 banquet for the 10 of us. Great amount of food and they were very accomodating with some of our dietary requirements. My favourites were the Meeka dips with assorted house made breads and the Baharat fried cauliflower.

Meeka had delicious food with the lamb tajine and three cheese pide clearly being the stand outs. It’s a classy establishment, recommended for celebrations and romantic night outs.

Came here about a month ago for my mother's-in-law birthday dinner.
Our server may have been new, which is fine- everyone needs to learn. But they had to check with our orders a couple of times after they were placed.
My drink order took a long time and they also got it wrong. As it took a long time and was the same price I didnt say anything but it was disappointing to not get what I ordered.
Mains came out and they had once again mixed up our orders. They made one meal twice by mistake and so my mother-in-law had to wait over 30 mins to receive hers.
My meal was tasty however I tried the lamb koftas from my friends and they were very dry and overcooked.

The final straw came when paying the bill.
They still wanted to charge us for the duplicate main meal that was incorrect and neither the staff or the kitchen knew what was going on.
The chef seemed annoyed and frustrated at both us and the wait staff.
It was definitely not a good night for them and it was a long wait for food that was not consistent with each diner.
It was a very awkward and disjointed dining experience which may have been just a bad night for the restaurant, but definitely left a foul taste in all 8 diners mouths.
I Make Friends With Salad
This was super tasty food, and you'd hope so for the price/serving size. It is expensive given the smallish serves. However, I still dream about the vego tagine and the herb salad. Super flavourful (unlike some experiences I've had in other restaurants/countries).

I am visiting from Overseas and some friends took us to Meeka restaurant for dinner.
I can only describe it as a wonderful experience.
The food was superb and having visited a number of European countries the wine list is very exciting.
A lovely French lady I assume being the manager recommended a white and a red wine which matched our meals to a treat.
The service by the staff was very friendly and polite.
Next time in Perth definitely will be back

The food at Meeka is exceptional and so well priced! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to all.
Meeka is a true foodie gem, highly recommended by others and now myself.
The new menu is fantastic! Meeka is a great fusion of foods and atmosphere with very pretty serving dishes! The pides and doughnuts are definitely worth trying. Thank you Meeka team for your wonderful hospitality and food!!
Perth Eats
Dined here recently and thought the food was quite nice, only question I have is to why there was cheese on the chicken and corn? Weird combination and smelt bad no offence. Nice staff members, however our dishes continuously stacked up when they wouldn't come around and pick them up and in particular the management was rude to us. We read clearly in the menu our rules and rights and they still pushed their point even though we hadn't be told prior or stopped until she had to put the word in. Could've been happier for us to leave and enjoy our desserts elsewhere with good company. We all felt uncomfortable and hurt that it seemed like our group had been particularly picked out and treated badly. Also y'all need to turn up the lights I get it to set the mood but we couldn't even read the menus or see each other properly. Wouldn't recommend dining here if you actually like having fair rights as a paying customer xoxo

It was a last minute decision to dine here on a Saturday night and a great decision it was! We started off with some flatbread and hummus. The hummus was really creamy and addictive. Then we had the duck filo pastry which was phenomenal! Now I know why it’s the best seller at this restaurant. The fried cauliflower was sinfully good and the lamb tagine was tasty without having the gamey meat lamb smell. The only dish that was not so good was the Pide, which was too sour and had little toppings on it. It was a pity that everyone was too full at the end of the night so we didn’t get to try any of the desserts. Next time maybe!

I am in love with this place. Have been here twice, their food, service and drinks jus never fails to impress me. Though i felt the food was on the sweeter side, its still good. I had both their Tajines, dips and dessert platter. If the Tajines could tone their sweetness level, it would be fantastic. Loved the dips.would love to visit this place once again to try their other dishes. Would recommend ppl if they would like to try some Moroccan food. Great place for Date nights and birthday dinners.
Rybak
Great food and service. Atmosphere/decor lacking. If it were less expensive, would give it a 4.5-5, but at this price the value/quality balance is not there. Simply too expensive for what it is.
Adam Chidlow
Simply the best restaurant in Subiaco. Their tajines are to die for, and great selection of entrees and some very unique deserts. Service is top notch without being overbearing. I recommend booking a few days in advance. Only downside is it’s just a bit too pricey to visit regularly.
Eric Mu
Lovely staff with great service, nicely presented and tasty food, good range of wine selections. We had a very good time there celebrating our anniversary.
Tony
I was convinced that nowhere in Perth could provide me with genuine Mediterranean cuisine and great service. Well impressed with the the attention to detail in ordered meals.

Roasted cauliflower for entre was amazing, ordered duck and vegetarian pumpkin dishes for mains - the menu description was accurate (for once!) and every bite enjoyable and satisfyingly filling. Pumpkin and quinoa vegetarian dish also had similar review. Recommend to book in for an early dinner, as we got great attentive service which declined into regular confusion as the restaurant became busier.

Wine list was ok, but quite overpriced, pity no BYO - there's better out there (for winos like us) to complement the menu.

For the cost, i expected a higher standard of service, like in Melbourne or Sydney and there was an awkward moment on payment when they were expecting a gratuity.

Louise Armstrong
A table of six we shared starters and they were delightful.
The tangines are full of flavour and very tasty one is enough to share between two people.
The duck is beautiful and flavours enough to delight any palette.
The sharing dessert is tasty two are enough for 6 people.
Depending on the wine you order $100 per person is average.
All in all a lovely meal.
Cranky Crow
We have been here 3 times now, and for good reason! We really love this place. The menu is really good, there are so many great options that it's hard to restrict ourselves to just a few dishes! Consistency of the food is strong, the service is always very friendly and professional, and the cocktails are great.

Suggest you make a booking as it is quite a popular restaurant.
Pig Chunks
Service was not bad at all and atmosphere is ok. The food is beautiful. Entrees are nice but a bit over priced. Same goes for the cocktails. Mains were delicious but again on the pricey side. Worth a try though
Food Lover
It's without a doubt the most complex, balanced, and innovative middle eastern food in WA if not Australia..
I've never tested food like that in my entire life.
The only let down is that we got around $170 more in our bill which belongs to some one else as the waitress explained later. We realized that after we paid the bill and walked out. We went back and asked him to breakdown the bill to figure out that we paid $170 more with no reasonable reason. The good news is we got our money back :)
Vanillaface
I really loved this place. I'm already a big fan of Middle Eastern food and this restaurant doesn't disappoint. The decor was stylish and comfortable, the atmosphere relaxed and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the lamb Tagine and fish skewers. The cocktails were lovely too. Perfect for a chilled out, balmy summer evening.
TheCubanCigar
We suggest you do not leave without devouring something from their dessert menu. Funky place serving delectable food. Thankyou for your hospitality
Yonatan Sehayek
The food in the pictures looked really good and a high rating of 4.5 to back it up made this place to look like a great idea for dinner this weekend. The food was simply boring and bland; a combination of dry meats along with other ingredients cooked without skill or talent. The price is relatively high($134 for Two) to the quality of the food served and the service was not good either. Some people will enjoy this food as it is an alternative cuisine, however if you are familiar with this cuisine than you may be disappointed
Chelsea
Absolutely nothing to fault. Fantastic service from wait staff, always filling drinks before you are empty. Great selection of wines. The food..... wow. Moroccan food has sooooo much flavour. Just absolute delicious. Shares the bread and dips. Delicious. Then had the wild goat tajgine..... amazing! So pleased I picked this. Husband had the duck. Also amazing. I had donuts for dessert. Perfect way to finish off an amazing evening. Highly recommend

Perfect moroccan food & vegetarian options were fantastic. So good that we called the chef out to tell us how to make one of the dishes which she did, recommended
Girlcaneat!
Great night. The wine selection they had was great and the food came out in perfect timing. I highly recommend the bread dip entree. Portions are great too.
The Poppets
This is a really great place to have a feed. Very consistent, and the flavours are amazing. We came back here for the first time in over 12 months and found it had got even better. High level food, great drinks list and ver efficient service by the floor staff. The atmosphere is always good as the place always is full but not do that it becomes troublesome...
Perth Foodaholic
I have to admit that I have not been to many Middle Eastern restaurants in Perth before. However a friend of mine had told me about a restaurant in Subiaco that sold Moroccan food in tajines which he highly recommended. So off I went on a cold winter’s night (please note that this was a couple years ago) to try and it was really impressive. Upon entering, the restaurant is really cosy. For entree a friend and I opted for the corn which was so delicious and moreish – I wish I had more. For mains we ordered a seafood and a lamb dish. Both dishes were presented in colourful tajines were added to the Moroccan atmosphere. I’ve never had a tajine before so I was not too sure what to expect. However, the meat was slow cooked and tender, and the flavours were infused into the meat. We also ordered Israel cous cous to soak up all the delicious gravy. We also ordered dessert which I was not a huge fan of just because I was not familiar with the rosewater flavours so I found it to be a bit strong. Overall it was a lovely experience and I would like to return for a more up to date experience.

The best middle eastern food in the world ! The bread and dips were tasty, especially the home baked bread and the baba ganoush :) The lamb kofta balls were so soft, juicy and moist and paired perfectly with the hunmus and pinenuts. The duck was well cooked, pink on the inside, and tasted amazing with the chesnut creme, sweet potato puree and dates. For dessert, I ordered the turkish delight donuts with tonka bean ice cream. The ice cream was creamy and smooth, and the donuts were crispy on the outside, but fluffy and golden on the inside. The turkish delight marshmallow was melted into the donuts😊 The persian fairy floss and the spiced chocolate sauce gave this dish a contrast!

Unfortunately we were a bit rushed and didn't get to chill out and really enjoy this fantastic restaurant. Between the four of us we had 2x Chicken Tagines a Goat Tagine & the Pork Belly. Although i can't comment for the rest, my goat was awesome, full of flavour and i'd have licked the bowl clean if i could have got away with it. A good sized meal, and the service was fabulous. I imagine i will be back for more.
PS - the Turkish Delight doughnuts for dessert were sensational.
Nicole
Came here for dinner as we decided to try something a little different and it definitely did not disappoint! Food was amazing, portions were also very generous. Will definitely be back again to try the desserts!
Beth
Amazing food, aromatic and bursting with flavour. We shared the duck and the chicken Tajine...it was ridiculously good! For desert we followed with the milk cake. Everything was lovely and the service was impeccable. Highly highly recommend an evening here.
Hills Veggie
We booked at the last minute for our anniversary using the reviews on here and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious and well presented, the wait staff were friendly and efficient and although the vegetarian options weren't extensive, they were very tasty. It was great that there were so many gluten free options available too. We'll definitely return.
Sara Andreatta
Stunning! Food aside, it was a charming little restaurant that was nicely busy on a Saturday night without you feeling like you were being rushed on. Lighting and acoustics were also fantastic, which made it intimate and I didn't have to shout across the table to be heard. The food was faultless. We ordered the dips to start and the bread was still piping hot when it came out to us. For mains, we ordered the duck leg and also the pork belly targine. Don't be put off by the amount of ingredients in one dish. When it comes out to you - on beautiful ware I might add - all the dishes continued to surprise us with ever mouthful, including the dessert tasting plate at the end. Awesome wine list I might add! Will be back :)

I’ve gone to a few Middle Eastern type restaurants on the east coast but not in Perth. Meeka Restaurant’s Moroccan cuisine really impressed me. Generous servings big on flavour and taste are what Meeka offers up. I thoroughly enjoyed the super soft pork belly tajine which cut like butter, but the delicious and fragrant spice mix was the engine room of this dish, delivering all the flavour. The soft sweet potato has absorbed these flavours like a sponge and the apple salad is an excellent partner to pork. I loved the dish, as too the rich buttery pearls of Israeli cous cous. I also ordered dessert and the savoury doughnuts with a touch of tartness form the lemon curd balanced the doughnuts nicely. The dessert is not too sweet, despite the variety on display. The Persian fairy floss brings out the inner kid in you, before revealing a rich creamy ice cream. Some popcorn to round things out and I left very very full but very satisfied.

Going to jump straight to the point. This is my favourite restaurant in Perth. I don't know where to start. Last night was my fifth visit since my first in March last year, and every single time we've walked away feeling so happy and satisfied. Their tagines are superb, served with lovely Israeli cous cous. The desserts are always a highlight too, but in all seriousness, everything is absolutely fantastic. On top of that, I think it is very well priced too - my partner and I were filled to the brink with a mains and dessert each with a side to share and drinks for under $140. Can't praise Meeka enough - they have a wall covered in gold plate awards for a very good reason.
Nel
One of my favourite restaurants in Perth for sure. Always enjoy the food here, their couscous is amazing and love their turkish delight ice cream. Recommended!
Cassie
Great restaurant to visit for a tasty middle eastern meal. I had the vegetable tagine with quinoa. The tagine had a delicious rich tomato based sauce and a good variety of vegetables. The fried cauliflower was also good.
Hannah Budge
Really really really good. About 10 of us came for dinner last night, and had the Petite Banquet, which isn't that petite, to be honest. Stand outs for me were the lamb tagine and cauliflower side dish, but damn - everything was so delicious. Staff were good. Vibe is good. Highly recommend.
Matthew Peters
I found Meeka restaurant on urban spoon and thought we would try some thing new and different. The variety and quality of food was 5 star, the staff were super enthusiastic and friend and gave great recommendations on the food and wine. Every one at our table had an amazing night and we highly recommend it.
Val Tucker
Excellent food and top notch service.

group of girls could not fault a thing. we were the last there catching up and were left to finish in our own time. waitress was lovely and even had a joke with us (she was also from the uk) overall highly entertaining.
Simon
Went to meeka tuesday night - it was busy! in my eyes proof of how great the food is. despite being busy and having large groups we were treated well with a personable service.

the food was incredible and we all left extremely full. the owner faye gave us a great wine pairing and jenna provided entertainment - as always.

cant wait to return in the new year.
Emily
We went there for a birthday dinner (6 of us), really good. Service and food are top notch. We ordered 3 tagines, two couscous and 2 starters and with a bottle of wine and it was a great night. The only fault was that I like a little more couscous with my tagine, so we were a bit short on that but as a whole this restaurant is a must.Plus if your worrying about atmosphere in the middle of the week, not a worry, it was half full- perfect.
Annette Evans
From the moment you enter this twisty-turny world where “tagines and pashmak meet Australia head on” you experience one delight after another. Far from looking like an Arabian nights tent, Meeka is sophisticated and modern with hints of Moroccan souk dotted amongst the white tablecloths and sparkling glassware.

Our group of six wisely decided to follow the advice of Faye, the joint owner of Meeka with her daughter (head chef Leah Clarke), and order the Petite Banquet at $55 a head. There's some flexibility shown here too, as instead of following the banquet menu precisely, Faye suggested we could drop a few tagines and substitute them with two dessert platters. It takes a wise woman to know that a group of six women diners will definitely want to squeeze in some sweet treats after their main meal.

Delicious food, friendly efficient service, what's not to like?! We went on a Saturday night, the place was full to capacity but there wasn't a hitch in anything. I had the duck pastries and lamb tagine, both were sensational, as was my wife's duck leg and Turkish delight donut dessert. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Foodrinkperth
At long last, a restaurant in Perth cooking with fabulous flavour, good service and well priced. We were a large group with diverse tastes and appetites all of which were easily accommodated.

After just returning from overseas, wining and dining on awesome food, we were so happy to be able to say, we will be pleased to return to Meeka.

The flavours of the food are definitely a fusion of Moroccan/Australian, congratulations to the team involved. Also really appreciated their flexibility in allowing us to dine earlier and choose our own menu rather than having the set menu.
Evan O'Sullivan
My partner took me here in May and we had an amazing time. This restaurant had a lasting impression with me, I really wasn't sure what to expect when I went in as I hadn't heard anything about it beforehand.

The choice in dishes was spot on, the range was all encompassing from fish tagine to dates stuffed in Kataifi. Their use and combinations of roasted spices and sweet textures like honey was amazing. I lost the security deposit for my mouth as the party that was happening in there was just too much.

The wine menu, and the pleasant waiter explaining it to us, was approachable and easy to understand. We had a very juicy red that I have been trying to find in stores ever since. It is my white whale.

This place rocks, do it
Bambi228
Couldn't fault it. Loved everything. Duck entree is amazing and so is turkish donuts! Friendly staff.
Josh.lorusso
Fantastically preparred delicious food but wine a bit overpriced. Food is beyond expectations. Service was excellent, we felt welcome and nurtured. Only downside was the wine overpriced (food is reasonably priced though). We'll go again!
Too Munch To Handle
Meeka Restaurant is a relatively large restaurant in Subiaco serving Moroccan food, a relatively under-represented cuisine her in Perth. We dined here on a Saturday night, and a booking was definitely necessary, since it was completely packed.

I loved the modern decor and cutlery which had a slight Moroccan influence, from the moment I stepped inside. Decorative Tajines placed on shelves around the restaurant, not to mention the extremely cute, miniature Tajine salt and pepper holders.
Bakshi.rakhi
Great flavours but they need to cut down on sweetness. The flavours were great - the only problem was that their food was on the sweeter side for my palette. For mains i had the tagine which was quite sweet. I tried their watermelon sorbet for dessert and it was also way too sweet. I loved the sweet potato falafel and their hummus is beautiful. The baby fig salad was amazing - some extra sweetness was added through dressing though.

Overall a great experience, but for people who do not prefer food on the sweeter side - this may not give you a 100% satisfying dining experience.
Diva
Diva. We were fortunate to be included in a family dinner last night and have the Feast, The food was outstanding,
The service perfect, Would highly recommend this restaurant and will return, Perhaps not have the Feast just too much food! Thank you MEEKA for such perfection,
The Chefs Wife
It’s our very first visit here and I’m not entirely sure what to expect. I had been imagining that we would step into a tented room, decked out like a colourful Casablanca souk. What we actually find is a modern, crisp and neutral restaurant – with a splash of Moroccan decoration. Meeka is a classy little place and reflects the style of food perfectly – modern Australian cuisine, with a Middle Eastern twist.
Paul Bonniface
One word Superb. Almost hard to fault what a fantastic restaurant. A must visit.
Eatingismyhobby
Absolutely Outstanding!!!. We just got home from this place and I had to write a review straight away. I rarely go out to eat and find somewhere i would go back again and again- but after this evening's meal I can safely say this will be one of those places.

The service is very friendly- the owner frequently came over to see how we were doing despite the restaurant being full.
We ordered the shared Mezze starter which had delicious juicy chicken skewer, arancini spiced beautifully and salt and pepper squid (a little chewy if i must nit pick).

The main was truly the best part. VERY generous portions- so worth the price. My partner had a lamb tagine and I had the beef cheek tagine. Both were exquisite. We finished the whole thing despite being very full! We then shared a desert- the roasted strawberries and pana cotta, which was equally as delicious.

The only thing i can say is you MUST try this place- its pricey but worth it. i can't wait to go back here and try the other yummy sounding items on the menu!!!

Emma. We went there on Saturday night, the staff were all friendly and very helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. I recoomend getting the crazy corn as an entre. Who knew corn could taste so amazing. Definately a good experience all round!
Jade Barnett
Food was really nice, service was good apart from 1 member of staff who could have smiled a big more.

Amazing - cant wait to go again. Came here for our anniversary dinner & we were seated in the alfresco area .. being a cold night they had the heaters on and it was lovely. they were fully booked but the service was wonderful - attentive without being annoying. Now the food: food was fantastic. for mains we had the goat tagine and duck. couldn't find any faults... we made the mistake (a happy one) of ordering the sample dessert for 2 and it was a struggle to finish it. Definitely couldn't complain about the portions.
It was such an amazing night and really can't wait to go back.
AM WA
Excellent. This is the third time we have been to Meeka. The food has been exceptional each time and service very good. One of our entree orders had run out and the chef provided a complimentary dish. Good service. We will be returning.
Chardonnaygirl
Disappointing. Not up to their usual standard. Very busy Saturday night and understaffed. Service was very slow. We waited an hour before our first course. The waiter was very unfriendly. My husbands steak was well done not rare and while my Duck was superb the accompaniments were cold. The sweets menu is not set out well so what I thought to be mouse with lemon curd turned out to be a rock hard pavlova with an overly sweet Black Forrest slice.
OnePointFive
Highlight of the night was Chicken Tajine served with Quinoa. It's so flavoursome. Mezze plate consist of: chicken skewer (really moist), beef cheek & goat feta borek and chickpea chips. Duck pastry was ok. Didnt really enjoy the sweet potato falafel as it's a bit too herby for us. Unfortunately the dessert we ordered was too sweet. The only thing I like was the black forest cake. If they replaced the mousse with ice cream instead it'll be so much better. Service was good, all waiters were really attentive.
Perth2011
Wonderful. Delicious food and terrific service!!

Nice..... We were at a loose end and thought we'd go out for dinner. The place was fully booked and they couldn't fit us in until 8.30pm but it's was worth the wait.

We had the mezze plate (chicken skewers, whiting filets and chickpea-chips). Excellent. The chickpea-chips were crisp on the outside, nice and mushy on the inside. The chicken was moist and flavoursome.

I had the lamb cutlets - a generous serve of 4 cutlets (often you get 2 tiny cutlets in restaurants) which were perfectly cooked and nicely marinated on a bed of cous cous. My friend had the beef cheek tagine which was good, but to be perfectly honest, tasted a little like a bog-standard Indian curry.

Desert was a winner - the panna cotta which was silky smooth with a hint of rose water.

I'm marking down slightly because our water was not that friendly - probably because it was busy. But everytime he took an order, he stood around impatiently and didn't really help out with the menu much.

We'll be back.

Had the most fabulous dining experience at Meeka!! I love this place! The food was divine! Service was amazing - so warm and friendly! Such a special restaurant - will definitely be back!
Jenna
Food absolutely delicious. A fantastic night for friends family or couple. Lovely wine to go with the meal and some special wines to choose from.
Service is always professional and friendly I have enjoyed meals here so many times a really treat greatly priced and a favourite spot of mine to visit.
Can't wait to go back again
Leslee Mordaunt
Delicious. Great service, nice atmosphere ( would have been better if fireplace was going!) and really tasty food. We shared an appetiser and one tagine, and that was enough (for two women). Nicely presented on lovely plates.
Dave_ness
Disappointing food. Babaganoush lacked any distinction, in fact not even a hint of smoked eggplant, garlic, lemon, tahini, cumin or anyof the traditional flavours...what was it:? I make this dish myself and i've eaten memorable variants from other cooks over 20 years. This was on a par with a tub from the IGA deli. Accompanying pumpkin dip was equally featureles, bland and more like baby food, both delivered cold, and dolloped straight from the fridge. Crispy breads OK. Entree and mains (duck pastries; lamb tagine; chickpea dish) were less than spectacular fare. Fancy crockery and presentation, anticlimactic/generic taste. Waiting staff friendly and attentive but seemingly detached...mind you, I'd pretty soon revert to expediency taking orders for this stuff at $35 per individual-tagine while clocking the award wage. Decor and ambience...irrelevant when the food is so mediocre and at a premium.

Been twice, happy to go again. Have been to the Meeka Restaurant twice before shows. The staff were so friendly and helpful and did everything they could to make sure that our meal was on time so that we were not late for the shows. Both times the food was wonderful. The rack of lamb was tender, and far larger than I expected. My friend is gluten free, and had no trouble at all ordering from the menu. From the moment we walked in the door, until we paid the account and left we were made to feel very welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. I have recommended Meeka to friends, and when Im over that way again for another show I certainly will book a table at Meeka..

Don't judge a book by it's cover.. We loved the restaurant's elegant, yet warm atmosphere. The food was beautifully presented however, looks can be deceiving. Never have I encountered such overpowering, contrary flavours. I have never had such a misleading rating on urbanspoon.

Aniversary Delight. After walking out of a top starred restaurant due to complications, we passed Meeka and were lucky to score a table on a packed Saturday night. The table we were placed at had just been vacated, but was cleared and set up in no time at all. It had been a while since our last visit and we left wondering why it had been so long. For such a busy night, the visit was amazing. The wait staff we found exemplary. There was always at least one person to check on us as they went about there business, and we noticed that this was applied to all the patrons. The food from the entrees to the mains was beautifully presented and the combinations of textures and flavours a delight. Some may find Meeka a touch pricey, but for what you get you'd probably pay twice that at a hatted establishment. One reviewer stated that they had waited an hour for their entrée to arrive. Interesting. Should that ever occur to us at any restaurant, we'd personally vote with our feet and wish them well. We definitely will not leave it so long for our next visit.

My wife and I went for dinner on Friday 6/6/14 and WOW can't believe we waited so long service was 10/10 food was 10/10 no complains from us. The I think owner was helpful. We will be taking friends back there so we can try more food as a group.

Suspect Reviews. I went with a group last night and we thought that is was very ordinary food at very high prices. We paid $55 each and from what was served had a plate of stew and chick peas, dessert and coffee not included plus the wine list is an obvious con (strange low quality, over priced selection, aimed at returning the restaurant max profit) so it averaged out at $90 to $100 bucks a head for stew & chick peas.

Highly suspicious of some of the reviews, this place is not that good, in fact it was very ordinary but expensive.

Superb experience. Dinner last night at Meeka was a 100% wonderful experience: fresh menu experiences with duck like I have never tasted before (Duck Pastries, Soft Feta, Tomato Chilli Jam, Micro Herbs), melt in your mouth beef cheeks (Slow Braised Beef Cheek, Saffron Preserved Lemon Potatoes, Mint
Yoghurt, Sumac Onions, Pickled Radish Herbs) and panna cotta that was unique (Roasted Strawberries, Goats Milk Panna Cotta Pot, Rose Jelly, Dark Chocolate Crumble, Red Pepper White Chocolate Shavings).
Leah is a marvel and the service by Fay, Jack and the team was exceptional.
I'll be back.

Amazing. Full stop.. We had dinner at Meeka a few months ago for a birthday. Service was so friendly, polite and professional. We had two tangines, one beef and one seafood, with couscous and quinoa. Both were faultless and full of flavour. So delicious.

You must try Meeka's dessert at least once in your life. The dessert menu changes often so we were a bit sad when our favourites had disappeared from the menu on that night so we ordered the dessert plate instead. You do not know dessert until you try their dessert plate - highly, highly recommend. They only told us after it's best shared between 4 people but we were completely fine with finishing off between the two of us. Five stars dining experience.

Up to expectations. Had dinner here last night. Started with the flatbread and dips - quite delicious. My wife had the goat tajine with cous cous - meat was a little bit chewy but the gravy was complex with subtle and delicious flavours. I had the pistachio crusted eye fillet which was very good although a sauce of some kind would have enhanced the texture of the dish. The restaurant itself is very pleasant - decor and ambience are relaxing and warm. Service was exceptional - friendly and attentive.

Invisible table. We have been to Meeka on a number of occasions and always enjoyed the food and service. So we were really looking forward to dinner on Saturday. Unfortunately the 3 other diners along with myself must have been either invisible or considered "Not one of the locals". On arrival we had to wait just under an hour for our entrees (and then only 3 of the 4 arrived - the fourth diner having to wait a further 10 minutes). It should be noted that the table of 4 next to us arrived 20 minutes after we sat down and had already been served and eaten their entrees by this point.

As far as the food was concerned we all enjoyed it and as usual you are spoilt for choice with the menu.

I won't even mention the lack of service with drinks.

Despite hoping to enjoy a dessert this never materialised as the wait to even place an order took so long we were over it and decided to leave. In all fairness we were provided with a complimentary ice cream which 2 diners ate to be polite.
After a further wait for the bill we gave up hope and got up and paid at the counter and headed for coffee elsewhere.

Expensive, but super good!. I was far from disappointed last night after coming here with some friends. The mains are about $40 each but are good sizes and the lamb cutlets I had were delicious! Our waiter, who was very friendly and helpful, recommended that I try the French apple cider which was fantastic as well.

I will definitely dine here again and next time I plan to try one of the tajines on offer and a dessert or two!

Om Nom Nom. Meeka is a Perth gem! My friend and I had a wonderful evening here, seated beside some al fresco doors thrown open for the breeze, and with a sashaying French waiter looking after us. We shared the sweet potato falafel balls, Dorper lamb tajine, and fried cauliflower dishes. The lamb was rich with spices and melted as it hit my tongue. The cauliflower made for an indulgent way to get my veggies, with their crispy skins and spritzing of lime juice. However, the crowning glory was the dessert tasting plate. Doughnut balls, violet macarons, panna cotta, and pomegranate- and Turkish Delight-flavoured ice cream topped with pistachio fairy floss. Bliss. There's a reason they were awarded Best Australian Specialty Restaurant 2013.

Fantastic. Incredibly accommodating service. Had a family 70th birthday there and a couple of the kids came. Asked the waiter for a suggestion on the kids mains and they offered to make fish and chips. Out came the most Devine Barramundi on hand cut chips. Everyone's meals were perfect and the service was among the best.

Amazing. It's really hard for my partner to enjoy eating out because he is a chef and has very high standards of food and the quality of the products. But last night was the first time (in a very long time) that he loved dining out! Thank you meeka, such a cute little restaurant, food was delicious, the meat fell of the bone, and melted in my mouth, just stunning flavours too! You made us have a wonderful night! Was well worth the drive from mandurah. Thank you again, we will be back!

Sue. Wow wow wow... this really is a great place to eat! Food is to die for, so many beautiful flavours, all separate and distinguishable, taste bud heaven! Middle eastern with a little Australian hint, the terrines are amazing, and plentiful in serving size, we had a corporate lunch, just 3 of us and we had plenty to eat. The atmosphere is welcoming and not too noisy, its smart and impressive, and the service is great, Faye knows her wines, and successfully recommends the menu house specialties. I have booked to go again, cant wait to show this place to friends!

It's good. We're regulars. there's a real wow factor with the tangines...delicious. Always a big welcome frome Faye who oversees a very busy restaurant. The staff are attentive and theres a well priced and interesting wine list. Book with confidence...and have a drink at Perths most interesting bar next door...all makes for a good night out.

Best dining experience in a very long time!. I took my sister here as a gift; on recommendation by a friend.
From the moment we walked in we were greeted with very friendly, professional and prompt service. We ordered the \tasting plate to share, for mains we had the duck and lamb cutlets, and for dessert the tasting plate. This was by far one of my most memorable food experiences and we enjoyed every single morsel. The food was absolutely delicious and I would go back here in a heart beat and recommend to anyone who will listen!

Best to ask to be seated inside. Ordered the twice cooked duck mains and was not disappointed. It took a 45 minute wait but the food was with it. The duck and its accompanying vegetables were excellent!

Unfortunately the atmosphere in the patio outdoor seating was not as good. The tables were crammed in to maximise number of patrons, the seats are hard metal, uncomfortable and can cause back problems. Unfortunately, the paving isn't even either causing you to slowly fall off the smooth metal seat unless you prop yourself up against the table.

Lastly the wait staff were very slow, taking fifteen to twenty minutes to clear the table and worst of all the desert we ordered did not even arrive and due to never seeing a waiter we didn't even have the opportunity to ask what happened to it.

Ok but not great. Food was OK but portion sizes quite small for the prices charged. We were seated right outside where there were a couple of smokers who saw nothing wrong in smoking while standing right next to the patrons. The tables and chairs we had were quite old and wobbly but some of the other tables appeared quite new. The wait for food was between 40-50 mins after ordering, but this was on a friday night. All in all an OK night out but the moroccan restaurant in Freo was better.

Amazing food. I absolutely love this restuarant. We got there a little late and was immediately seated. Our waitress was ever so helpful and was trying to accomodate all our requests. She was brilliant.

Food? Well it speaks for it self. We had the pulled pork sliders and the lamb, it was to die for. Will definitely go back again!

Marvellous Moroccan. After eating at the Meeka totally by accident it was the best mistake ever made. The food was fantastic very very tasty. Only minor thing was we ate there on a very warm night and being an open restaurant it was a little sticky and some aircon or ceiling fans wouldn't have gone astray. Delicious deserts with Persian fairy floss made up for it though!!
