Review George's Meze - Subiaco

Ken Lee
Probably one the best Greek restaurants I have been to in Perth. Good selection of mezedes and mains. The Saganaki was delightful where the figs and apricots complemented the haloumi really well. The Lamb Cigar was a real treat. And for the mains, the seafood claypot and moussaka were cooked to perfection. Plenty to choose for dessert to finish with a Greek coffee. Will definitely return to try the other dishes.

Not a lot of Greek restaurants in Perth, this one is good, we had Lamb cigar, Spanakopita meze for entrees, Seafood claypot and Traditional goat, the entrees were great, crispy filo roll👍. Found the Goat a bit dry. Overall, food is good and staff are very friendly.
Lubomir Tchervenkov
This is one of the few authentic Greek restaurants left in Perth. The food was beautifully prepared. I enjoyed the mix of grilled meat, the Turkish coffee and the deserts.
Stephanie Georgiev
Staff was welcoming, friendly, attentive and fast service. We had the lunch special, it was good portion for two. The calamari was soft and melt in your mouth, sausages was tasty. We will come back again. 😁

One of the best restaurants in Perth and certainly the best Greek restaurant. There is such a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere with the incredible decor of the Greek Islands to match. Simply the best lamb I have ever eaten in my life and what an incredible selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. I hope they can bring back Sunday lunches soon, I loved the Greek duo working and the vibe. It’s important to support small businesses during these times and I hope to see these guys for years to come.

A taste of Greece right in Subiaco. We came for lunch and were very happy. Lamb wrap and I went for the set menu, having the saganaki for entree and the lamb skewers for main. All of it was delicious. That lamb! And what better to wash down a Greek lunch? A couple of cold Mythos.
Gul Erkin
The food is great, service is good, people are friendly. Restaurant has a Mediterranean vibe. Last time, when we ordered ouzo, they were served in Turkish Yeni Raki glasses. That was so kind and sweet. We felt home. Thank you George's Meze and thank you Nick!
Rebecca Smith
Ordered take away. Seafood pasta, meatballs and souvlaki with salad for 3 people. Generous serves, absolutely delicious, fresh ingredients, we really enjoyed this meal!

First time eating here, and very impressed with the speed of service and also food quality.
We had the whiting in lemon sauce to start and it was great well cooked and full of flavour. We had the meat share platter for mains and this had lamb chops, beef and chicken skewers, chorizo sausage, meatballs, salad and wedges.
All meat was perfect and definitely will return, my only negative is the Greek salad in particular the feta was poor.
Baclava and ice cream sundae to finish with great music.

Speaking as a frequent traveller to Greece and a Melbourne native... probably don't go here.

Greek food should be cheapish, cheerful, hearty and tasty. Our dining experience at George's Meze was not really any of those things. The food was tasty enough but servings were small and prices were high.
Steve Zafiriou
Expensive and quality left a lot to be desired !
$12 for a very small bowl of Greek salad with no real fetta!! If you’re going to charge for a Greek salad please use Dodoni fetta- the meatballs! Definitely warmed by a microwave, soft and soggy ! The fillets of whiting were swimming in oil... totally ruined my experience for a Friday evening out that I was looking forward to having Greek food!
Meateater
The portions were very small and the taste rather average for the price charged. We booked on the reward redemption of The Fork which gave us $20 off the price. Even with that discount, we felt we paid too much for the meal we had. The garlic prawns were exceptionally tasty, but it was 5 small to average size prawns for $22.

Been to George’s on a few occasions and on all occasions found the food to be good. The service was friendly and professional. The food came out in a timely manner and the whole table was served at the same time. The ambience is also very nice reminding me of when we were in Greece. The music is also nice. Would recommend. My only grip is the price is a little high and why I have marked it down one star.

Went here with a friend for dinner on Wednesday night not busy got a table easily relaxed vibe
Ordered the lamb cigar which was delicious filo pastry with a Greek feta salad
Ordered the seafood clay pot in creamy garlic sauce was sort of like eating gumbo but not as thick as chowder
Lots of seafood variety with white fish salmon clams and garlic toasty bread yum favourite fish
The Greek moussaka was ok not enough flavour hr massive portion with a large helping of salad
Large selection of desserts
Try the Turkish delight :)
Friendly experienced staff
Lots of free street parking after 5pm

Came for a dinner for 2 on a fairly busy Saturday night. First impression walking in is that the decor is a bit tired and could do with an update. Live greek music was playing in the background which was a nice touch. Dukkah plate to start was ok, as was the saganaki cheese (a bit ordinary). The fried calamari was very standard and the grilled whiting fillets were honestly just plain awful (they had the consistency of having been poached or boiled, with a very watery sauce). We weren’t really inspired to try anything more substantial after this so I can’t comment on the other dishes. We considered dessert but the only thing on offer (nothing on the menu) seemed to be a slightly sad, glad wrapped half tray of backlava displayed in a small drinks fridge near the counter - not very appealing so we passed. Food wasn’t bad...it just didn’t seem very authentic. Staff were nice enough though.

Enjoyable evening for all of us. Good food, great atmosphere, friendly efficient staff. We sampled many dishes and the consensus - including from the children - was that food was well prepared, well presented and tasty.

My wife and I are regulars here - have been coming to this family-run restaurant for years. We are vegetarian and love the fact that there ate so many tasty options, the pricing is reasonable, ambience is very relaxed with live, Greek music at the weekends and you can sit outside. What's not to like?

After years of labouring in the kitchen for Christmas 🎄, my darling decided to break the tradition and bring me out for a relaxing lunch on Christmas Day! Yeh! No cooking! It was quiet on Rokeby Road that sizzling afternoon. We arrived at 12 noon and found a few people already enjoying their drinks 🍷in the outdoor area. I loved my fried calamari entree with a glass of champagne. My darling’s barramundi main and my lamb main were both cooked to perfection. The only disappointment was the deserts. What an indulgent Christmas Day!

Such a nice place with atmosphere! Very delicious food, ordered chef's selection and was served according to our requirements. Service is good and very helpful! Definitely would recommend!

I came here with some work colleagues for an early dinner. Even though the place wasn't open they were very accommodating and seated us before 530. We ordered a few share plates: spanakopita, lamb cigar, eggplant and haloumi and Turkish breads with oil and dukkah. My fave was the breads! Everything else was standard Greek, nothing to rave about but was pleasant. The place had good vibes and service was professional and friendly.
Doc
Great atmosphere & a lovely building. Service was friendly and attentive. The Turkish bread was a standout; very tasty & artisan! The mains we had seemed relatively basic in flavour, but still enjoyable. I'd suggest getting there for the lunch specials, as the main menu is rather pricey! Overall I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to friends looking for wholesome authentic Greek.

We have given Georges a 5 star rating because we couldnt fault the food or service. After trying to find somewhere to eat on a Sunday we came across this restaurant. Fro the moment we walked in to this lovely little place we were given first class service. We ordered a selection of mezes to share. Sardines, stuffed mushrooms, prawn saganaki, lamb cigar, spanakopita and a greek salad. Everything was beautifully tasty and as we had some sauce and dips left we asked if we could have some extra bread. This was provided straight away. Nice dining experience and one that will be repeated for sure. Thanks guys!

Went there with a friend before a show at the Regal. Firstly, excellent customer service from all staff. We sat outside in the garden right next to the musicians, but still could chat/hear each other. The muso's played lovely traditional Greek songs. House red was quite drinkable. We shared a meze of Haloumi and eggplant, nice but some eggplant needed more cooking, octopus was pretty good, fried calamari was average, mushroom was my least favourite as I found it quite oily. Our favourite was the lamb and scallop most likely as this was the most freshly prepared dish, all other dishes had some element of being pre-cooked then re-heated. Salad on the side, aioli and tzatziki. For dessert my friend had an ice cream sundae The Drunk Greek and I had the GF orange and almond cake which needed more cream or more syrup, was quite dry, most likely not made in house. I would love to give them a 4 as we had a really good night there but the food was a little off par, nice but not quite there. $119 for the 2 of us.
We had dinner here last night. This is our second visit. We love the food. We had the lamb souvlaki and chicken souvlaki. Both delicious. Service was excellent too.

First time we came we LOVED it! Sitting outside at sunset surrounded by greek atmosphere with a good lamb shank. It was beautiful.
Second time, my family went and we ordered the meze platters with vegetarian, meat and seafood.
My idea of meze is charcoal grilled meat, good quality fish and fresh food. However, we felt like we got the left overs. The meat platter was sliced sausages, fish was fish balls and then some halloumi.
The sauces tasted like they came from a can.
I used to love this place and tried to stay positive but I was deeply disappointed.
In Sweden, we eat meze at restaurants all the time (we love it) and this was absolutely below average. My Dad even wanted to go back the day after and get his money back.
The staff didn't perform either. My sister in law had to ask for the coke she ordered 4 times before she got it. They were slow with our drinks, slightly rude, no smile.. They were not busy that night either.

If you still want to go, go in summer for an afternoon beer at sunset and sit outside because I think that plays a big part.
BrookeM
Beautiful food and warm friendly service. Didn't wait long for our food and everything was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back to try more things from the menu.
Edward Brine
Food was average. Salad was clearly prepared well in advance and dehydrated. Atmosphere and setting good but got served wine which had been open for a VERY long time and was vinegar. I asked for a wine recommendation to go with the goat before this and got a blank look and a shrug. I got charged for double everything at the counter so it was lucky I checked the bill. Staff had a "I don't care" attitude. Very disapointed.

Really nice to experience something other than a 'chain' restaurant. Service was good and the food tasty and generous in size. Will return again.

Delicious food! Generous serves! Good service! Nice atmosphere!
We had the vegetarian platter and were not disappointed by anything. The waiting staff were attentive when they needed to be and unobtrusive the rest of the time. It was nice to have the live authentic Greek music in the background (that didn't drown everything out).
We will be back.

This is one of our all time favourite Mediterranean restaurants. We loved their zucchini and potato balls and spanakopita. Oh and the live music!! Wow! Love the ambience, even my 4 year old starts tapping his feet to the tunes :) But, ever since they have changed their menu there are less-exciting additions to the vegetarian platter and this is what has restrictef us from visiting this place more. Would love to check their summer menu, hopefully they will have something exciting on the menu.

Visited George's Mezz on Wednesday evening with a group of 12 to celebrate my wife's birthday.
What a pleasant surprise we had. Service was swift and courteous. Food was great and portion size was great too.
Not one complaint from any of my guests. Prices were pretty good too I thought. All in all a great night and thanks to the staff for looking after us the way they did. Will return for sure.

Food was delicious and portions were big. Ordered the seafood claypot with napolitana sauce and there was so much seafood in that small claypot! My friend had the beef cheeks with pasta and green beans which he said was really good. Overall a satisfying meal, wish I had more stomach to try the dessert but maybe next time. Props to the staff who served me hot water with a slice of lemon when they noticed I was having a cold!
Spoonful Of Em
I went here a few month ago with a group of six and the restaurant was very accommodating. The atmosphere was wonderful, it felt very Grecian with the decorations and live music. We ordered numerous Meze dishes to share; the lamb chops and spanakopita were a stand-out. I look forward to returning to try a main meal with my partner, although it looks quite expensive.
Pandalora
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Lovely decor and great ambiance. Whitebait and Whiting where just the right portion, got the juices flowing ready for the mains. Skewers where succulent, cooked beautifully. Spanakopita a must, spinach and cheese covered in filo. Can recommend a visit.
SweetPoison
Cute little restaurant. Staff are lovely. Food was delicious. Lots of options. We were the last to leave but they didn't make us feel like it was time to leave. Will go back for sure.
Emily Phillimore
Very nice ambience, with live music playing outside! The food was good, particularly would recommend the Lamb Cigar and the Greek Style Mushrooms which were both excellent and left me wanting more. A really great place to share dishes and try a little of everything :)
El
Authentic feeling restaurant with respect to the decor and the live music on Saturday nights. Would be lovely to sit outside in summer. The service was mostly good except for being almost too efficient and clearing your plates without asking if you had finished (leading to a scramble to salvage the last few morsels of food).
It's pretty pricey for the size of the mains but the the meze dishes are not too bad.
The food is very good with true Greek tastes.
Al Wilson
Second time for my wife and I and I think we have found our new favorite restaurant. Its not trendy and doesnt have acid jazz playing in the background however on this occasion had an authentic Greek band playing to really set the atmosphere. We originally intended to just dine off the expansive Mezze menu but after 2 shared Mezze plates (Lamb Cigar and a Spinach and Cheese filled Filo, both delicious) we decided that the mains sounded too delicious to pass up.
My wife chose the goat and was a beautiful slow cooked ragu which was very tasty. I chose the oven baked Rainbow Trout which was served whole with a crispy skin and moist and delicate flesh which was very nice. Both meals were served with potatoes which had been fried with herbs and a fantastic accompaniment to the two dishes along with a nicely dressed salad basically a greek salad with some greens.
The dessert menu is fairly limited but does have a variety of ice cream based desserts that sound nice. I chose Galaktobouri....yeah not sure on that spelling haha, which was a Filo casing with a Milk and Semolina filling which was very sweet and and had citrussy syrup through it. Not bad.
My wife chose the greek cookie Kapouridies which she loved. A spicy cakey cookie which was a nice light way to finish the meal with some excellent coffee.
The Front of house and waiting teams at Georges on both occasions have been very friendly and courteous. Happy to answer any questions regarding the menu and give you your preffered seating options. A perfect balance of being attentive to your needs without being intrusive.
Well worth the drive from the Northern suburbs for an awesome Greek feast.

Came here the other night for the first time, and we are happy to say this restaurant left a great lasting impression. The food was lovely, the musicians created a great ambience. The beautiful atmosphere took us back to our Greek holiday! The service was excellent and our lovely waitress was professional, made us feel most welcomed, and met all our demands. Overall a lovely night, and exceeded expectations. Very impressed with subiacos little gem
Raquel
Great evening. Wonderful ambience with Greek music. Excellent staff. Food was superb. I highly recommend it. Pleasing to find such a great spot hidden away in Subi.

A bit of a late review but.. we had our work xmas dinner here for the second year in a row. It was great but I must admit it was no where near as busy as the same time last year. We had a set menu which was yummy (every course was good) and they put up with our bad zorba dancing. I had mixed antipasto and dips for entree, fish for main and a selection of Greek desserts. Thanks again guys *thumbs up*

Stumbled across this place on a lazy Thursday off with my mum, we were actually headed to Jus burgers when we decided to give this place a try....and I'm glad we did! Beautiful vibe! It feels like a little bit of Greece! The food was to die for, real Mediterranean style dishes, full of flavour and chicken and fish all cooked to perfection! Presentation was beautiful! The waitress, Emily, was excellent, friendly and full of personality! Can't believe I've never tried this place before now but definitely won't be the last!!
Chihiro
Unpleasant experience ,
Quality of food was very low for the price charged , all four of us had the same mains and all of us felt not very well after dinner ! I will not going back !!
However the staff was friendly and the ambience was nice !
Danae
Couldn't recommend this place more! We stuck to items from the meze section and all were outstanding, especially the mushrooms. The staff are incredibly friendly and there is a wonderful authentic atmosphere. Will definitely return
Katrina
Good selection of wine. Tasty food, had the lamb chops, too full to try desert, lovely coffee, table of 10, non of us were unhappy. Happy to get a park very close.
Inauoc2110
A bit sad really ... the service was good but the food was terrible.

The beef cheeks and goat tasted like they'd come out of a McCormicks slow cook packet - powerfully over seasoned with dry oregano and rosemary to the point i could still taste it on my tongue when i returned home. It wasn't worth half the amount it cost.

I guess it was an off day for the chef ... ...
Grace Emelia Moore-Woods
Absolutely wonderful food, perfect wine and great, helpful and friendly staff - must try whiting fillets. - delicious!!! 100% recommend, in a realy lovely setting perfect for family meals or romantic dinners! (Me And my partner went for anniversay!) perfect

This restaurant ticked all my boxes in every aspect. It was incredible. The food was well worth the price, with incredible flavour with an abundant range in Greek Meze and mains. The staff were on the ball and incredibly helpful, and the vibes of the restaurant exceeded expectations- with a live band, communal singing and great food. Planning on travelling to Greece this year? Forget it. Use that saved money on two years worth of spending at George's Meze , and then ask yourself "Where have I been all my life?" You're welcome. Overall, Absolutely Excellent, George's Meze is the definition of fine dining.
El
Bad food and dated decor. Reading the reviews on this website I feel like I've visited a different restaurant! The restaurant is not a pleasant place to sit and have a meal. It's dated and tired and the staff lack interest. The food was really bad. I ordered a large portion of chilli mussels, which I was assured is gluten free without the bread. What turned up was mussels in a salty, oily, garlic stock with a chopped raw chilli as garnish. And the reaction of my stomach tells me it wasn't gluten free stock.

While I do think this restaurant is a little expensive for what you get, the terrace was nice, service friendly and attentive and the food was cooked and presented with care. Not wow but an enjoyable family evening.
Waylee123
Best little family restaurant in perth. My favourite place to go and have a sit down dinner! I love Greek food and the food is excellent, love the keftedes especially, and the way they do lamb is spectacular. Service is excellent, wine selection is good and if you want to eat somewhere that does not feel like it is part owned by some mega-corporation which is underwriting it, and want to experience quality, this is the place to go. Have been going here for over 10 years, and will continue to :)
Lori_hupp2002
Tasty for all. We ordered four different mains, along with the bread/dip platter. Everyone loved their choices, but the top shining star was the lamb souvlaki. Nice ambiance. Kids and adults all found something that they were pleased with.
Goldenstatewarriorsklay
WOW .. The staff were incredible and did not miss a beat. I had to wait for my partner, they brought out a plate of olives, sundried tomatoes dolmades. Complimentary ! That was just such a wonderful thing, it took the edge off. We were recommended the calamari and the fillo pastry bourekia.. both were excellent entrees. The rack of lamb was perfect. The musicians were brilliant. George's Meze is all heart.
Cheryllouise77
Terrible dinner, we will never return. We went to this place on Saturday night for the first time, and was not impressed at all. The calamari entree was nice, but the mains were a real disappointment. The seafood clay pot with creamy garlic sauce had clearly been boiled at a high temperature. There was about 3 mm of oil floating on top of what was left of the cream sauce. The seafood had been over-cooked to an inedible state. There was only one king prawn the rest were just princes. The other main we had was the lamb, which was nothing to write home about. Overall a very expensive and disappointing dinner.
Pcroft
Fantastic. I've been to Georges quite a lot. I live overseas now, but it's always a highlight of any visit back to Perth. The platter is awesome if you're with a group, but my old favourite is the kotopoulo. The staff are wonderful, very polite and accommodating, and just the right amount of chatty. A perfect place to spend a lazy sunny afternoon.
Sue Somerly
Not authentic Greek. I am very disappointed by my recent dining experience at George's Meze. The food was pedestrian at best. There's a decent range of food to choose from but unfortunately all 5 of us ended up with meals that were lacking flavour (but over-seasoned). The food wasn't cooked with love and certainly not what I regard as authentic Greek. And dessert? Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Over priced for what you actually get. Such a shame as this place should have ticked a few boxes.
Cam Herald
Overpriced, low quality. The food was ok but definitely overpriced and the flavour didn't hit the mark and was loaded with salt. The most disappointing though was the galaktoboureko which was soggy and curdled. That’s no how you make galaktoboureko!!!!!!!
Hellenicdance
Price Justified by Quality. First time at Georges on Saturday. Menu is well varied but simple. Just beautiful traditional and authentic setting. The children loved the extra large fish tank ;-) Staff service and smiles yes. Not a long wait for orders and the restaurant was packed. Relaxed environment - even saw some customers dance to a live greek duo band with Bouzouki ,which apparently visits on Saturdays evenings. Many birthdays that evening with the band playing happy birthdays and cakes presented. Music was just quality & not to loud. The food ? Well considering everything else was 5 stars the food was no exception - highly recommend
Rosie
Fabulous!. Great ambience and setting. Wine list was extensive and very reasonable. Staff attentive and incredibly polite. We were a large table, ordered a few entrees to share and a different main course for each. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Would definitely visit again and recommend highly.

First timer. Since moving to Perth, I haven't eaten at any Greek restaurants, so I was quite excited to come here with the in-laws.

The dishes we ordered were great, the chicken was a bit dry, but everything else on the plate was good. I ordered the traditional goat which is not everyone's cup of tea, but I found it to be rather tasty! It wasn't gamey at all, the meat was so tender and the flavours of the sauce was so homely. My father in law had the special of the day which was a beef stew type dish and it was also tasty and tender.

I ordered the galaktoboureko for dessert and I can't say I was as pleased with it as I was with the entree and mains.

I would go back to try the other dishes.
Meelee
Ms Mee Lee Tan. Amazing authentic Greek food with such good value & superb service! So good I booked again the following week & brought more friends & they raved about the food too....best Greek food in Perth!...& great ambiance too!...the live Greek music was such a good touch...made us feel we were in Greece...had a fantastic evening! Everyone has to go try the restaurant...you won't be disappointed for sure!
Sarah
A little taste of Greece. Music was great. Food delicious. Decor authentic. Pricey though worth it.
Jimi M
Very disappointing. Ordered a set platter menu for a group of 12 - $55/head for platters seemed pricey to start with. They then proceeded to bring out odd numbers of dishes, in some cases 1 dish, meaning most people missed out on things. Very average, though looking at other reviews it seems at least the Al la carte menu must be ok.
Val-allen
Love this place!. Ambiance FANTASTIC
Service BRILLIANT
Food AMAZING
Entertainment AWESOME

Definitely will return! What an incredibly marvellous food experience!

Loud music poor food. The music was ridiculously loud. Thanks to the gentleman who stopped them playing and provided some humour. No wonder everyone leaves early as their sick of the music.
Munchie Junkie
A hidden gem. Definitely worth checking out.

Greek family. So I grew up on greek food. Not sure about other reviews praising this place but we must have got very unlucky. Not only would I say it was the worst greek food I've eaten but stands out as the worst restaurant I've ever visited. Such a good location such a shame.
Ann
I dont like it, I LOVE IT!!,. We have been a few times now and every time even more impressed! The food is DELICIOUS and portions more than adequate. Lovely waiters and ambience. Will be back over and over! And we drag all our friends over there as well and everybody feels the same.

Well done George Meze, keep up the good work!
LJ
Wonderful!. What a lucky find .
Best food we have had since moving to Perth 10 years ago.
Friendly , warm accommodating staff.
Beautifully presented food, which actually tastes just as good as it looks.
Can not wait to go back and will be recommending to all our friends.

Subiacos Culinary Delight. When i think Greek , my mind instantly reminds me of the smell and tastes of my dining experiences from Georges Meze , and generally speaking just the mention of Greek will mean a booking at this restaurant in the coming days...

My favorite dish by far has to be the moussaka , its never disappointed me. You would be hard pressed to find a dish you dont like here.

The wine menu is a refreshing reminder that good taste still exists in Perth , and should you not care for a alcoholic beverage the coffee itself is its own talking point , even whilst eating its lovely to get the aroma of another patrons freshly ordered beans.

The service here is always prompt and with a smile regardless of how busy they are , even the kitchen staff have nothing but a happy face when you come across them.

I think even Archestratos himself would give Georges Meze the seal of approval , do yourself and your family a favour and give them a shot at sharing my feelings about this place.

10/10

A little slice of Mediterranean heaven. Delicious, large portions of heart-warming cuisine. Well priced with lovely attentive staff. Eaten here at least 25 times and never been disappointed.

Thanasi. Moussaka was the best, just like mum's thank you for a lovely night service was excellent.

A bit over priced, but nothing out the ordery for Perth. 2 entrees, 2 mains, 1 cocktail and bottle of wine $165. Great friendly service and easy to find. Not as "Greek" as we have been to. But quite good.
Jodwyerrogers
Lovely meal in busy but well staffed Greek restaurant. My husband and I enjoyed sharing the meat platter here last Saturday. The restaurant was busy but plenty of staff on hand so that we never waited long - European hospitality and ambiance at it's best

Lovely night. I had a lovely meal Paithakia - tender lamb rack Amazing. Service was friendly had a great night, live music give me memories of Greece.

Hard to fault. Swift and attentive service, gentle and authentic decor and sensational food await you at Meze. Just look around you at Meze and you can see why they deliver. All the staff know what they're doing, the partially opened kitchen runs like a Swiss watch, and the ever-so courteous Jay is there to ensure everything runs just so. This is two-star Michelin food at mid-range prices, highly recommended.
Roberto Sancho
Great venue. Love seating outside ,the features just bring me back to Greece , the food too
there cold mezzo and the friendly staff are just great
keep the good work you guys ;-)

Lovely afternoon in the sun. Had a lovely meal at George's Meze. Calamari to share had the most delicious sprinkling of spices, followed by the moussaka and seafood claypot. Generous serving of seafood was delicious in a creamy garlic sauce. The wine was reasonably priced and with a nice selection available by the glass. Recommended.

Deserves better rating. We went on a saturday the music was brilliant we sat between indoor and out and it was a lovely atmosphere! the food was yummy i didnt feel over priced so i dont know why its rated $$$ its very cute and your feel like your could be in grece. This was the first time since coming from the UK we got good customer service. drinks always topped up and a waiter always on hand if we needed something (even though it was busy) i happily left a tip as they were wonderful and the food was great too easy to share as we all like to do but all in all a great experience and i will be back!

Delicious. Lovely food - good choice and due to the offer on was a great price - service was excellent and love the restuarant setting

Consistently first class. The food is excellent. I think the ingredients are good quality unlike so many London Greek restaurants.

The menu is varied enough to keep the experienced diner happy. Beginners with Greek food will also find something they can eat without fear.

The service is friendly and top class.

The outside area is excellent.

Fantastic service, super fast and friendly. We had the dips and breads for entree which were very tasty and a generous serve. For mains the seafood claypot was really tasty with huge prawns and scallops, fish pieces and mussels in a creamy garlic sauce and bread. Delicious. I had the small sized lamb souvlakia which was 1 lamb skewer with rice and small greek salad and tzatsiki on the side. Delicious. I had wine by the glass which was reasonable at $7.50 but the lemon line and bitters was pricey at $5.80. Overall very enjoyable and I'd recommend.

Atmosphere is nice but take like half an hour to serve the food
Legian
Not too bad... Location and atmosphere - Great
Entrees - Crumbed button mushrooms stuffed with soft feta, Kalamata olives and sun blushed tomato. Beef keftedes - traditional Greek meat balls with kefalograviera cheese. The mushrooms were recommended by the waitress and both were a good size and very enjoyable.

Main - Seafood platter - calamari spirals, crispy lemon white bait, fresh local fish, Poseidon seafood balls, Fremantle octopus, heart of scallop in the shell, tiger prawns, handcut wedges, sauces and condiments.
The Seafood Platter was a little disappointing. There was no octopus so other quantities were increased. The fresh local fish we were told was Barramundi, it was in fact Deep Sea Mullet (Tasty and chargrilled which suits the fish but has a very strong and distinctive flavour and mushy texture.) Definetly not Barramundi . Mussells were included on our platter but two of the shells were empty and the meat in the others was the size of my little finger nail. Probably would have been better to not have included them.
Overall there was adequate food on the platter but quality for price wasn't there.
Service - Service was pleasant, efficient without hovering, although they forgot about my second glass of wine that was requested.

Great place. Service here is fantastic and food is amazing. very very impressed :)

I decided to take my staff to Sunday lunch today and booked 3 weeks ahead. I must say I was a little disappointed since I had been there a year ago for dinner which was great. I tried to order dips etc before my staff arrived but was met with dissatisfaction from the waiter and had to wait until the next waiter arrived. Secondly we were hurried along to place our mains order even though it wasnt packed. Our desserts came out over the course of 15 mins and when they did the dessert glasses were placed on saucers which did not sit evenly and the waiter dropped one. Her5es a tip, use saucers with a flat bottom. No problems with the food just the service today.

A bit expensive but the portion was huge. Great service and homely atmosphere.

I haven't been to George's Meze for a while but have always had a good experience. On this occasion I was shocked to see the prices. The food was fine but certainly not worth the amount charged. $44 for a small rack of lamb with a few boiled potatoes and a few average Mediterranean veges. But the goat was good and excellent service. However the price is prohibitive and I won't be going back. Including us there were only 3 tables on a Wednesday night.

The crumbed mushrooms were to die for!! Got the quail as a main and was impressed by how perfectly it was cooked - restaurants often over cook quail. Friendly service but on the pricey side

Felt completely ripped off after ordering the seafood salad as recommended by the waitress only to find there was one fresh Tiger prawn on top with the rest of the prawns tasting like those muddy tasting frozen imported versions. Who do they think they are kidding. The rest of the meal was uninspiring to say the least. How hard is it to do simple fresh wholesome greek food! Don't bother!!

Back on Form. Went back to Georges after a couple of years on a special and was impressed, both staff and food deserved a much higher rating than their current 69%, if this is the new standard and they can maintain their current team this score will rise quickly, thanks for a really nice evening guys!

Great Customer Service. Went here the other week with my girlfriend. The customer service was friendly, knowledge of the menu by the female waitress helped a lot. The food came out on time which is always good. The Onion Rings were very tasty, along with the Lamb Souvlaki. Meat balls were a little dry, We tried the white bait which was tasty but not our thing. Calamari was good and had a generous serving. This place is nice, cosy and relaxed. Until next time ... 6.5/10.

Just below average food overall. Bad value for money too, the Main course Calamari was smaller than what I would expect for a starter. Service was reasonable. Typical Perth restaurant.

Be Warned!!. From Very excited to feeling very robbed.....
It was a Last minute birthday get together.. Most of my friends (12 at the table) had not tried Greek, reassured by the ?? Manager.that he'll look after us, was told between $40-$40ish per person,.. Bill ended up $800+. I queried then..was given a little discount here and there, but despite my discount card of $80, I still paid $570, it would have been $650, my maths says $54/person approx.. The manager's reason: " we had a good time" , sorry, George, that's dishonest. We had to wait quite a lot, punished bcos, 3 guests was 5-10 mins late, the dishes took a while to come and plenty of bread and dips, entrees had to be shared per portion, 2 mains, beef cheeks, not excellent, and a goat dish gone wrong, macerated pieces of meat with some spices, half left ($84) dish, asked for doggy bag, but was forgotten as the ?? Manager was not there..friendly waiters, but muddled up orders as we did not get our money's worth, dish brought to us but was told initially part of the banquette, and later told was another tables wrong order, so the other end of table missed out on that dish, rest of dishes, like individual entrees were shared. There was no order to what was served, so be warned!! Do Not let the Manager look after you..becos it'll be up to them what they put in the bill....and you to pay it all becos "we enjoyed ourselves"???? No, George, Serve what is worth our hard earn money... And not take advantage of groups wanting a good time...my guests are very special to me and you've ruined my special day... Not Good, a little greedy and dishonest there..I'm afraid..not going back, thank you...perhaps, it was intended for one offs... So Be Warned...

So-so. The onion ring and octopus were way too spicy.
As a seafood lover, I don't feel the seafood is attractive.
The service was so-so neither and I didn't feel greeted. The waiter/boss (may be) just kept socialized and talked to the first table (next to us, we are the second table of that evening).
It would be good if the restaurant could publish the wine list in their website for easier customer reference.

It was good to see a restaurant off the main drag doing something DIFFERENT.i have eaten Greek in many a restaurant and generally the same concept ..boring .It was nice to see presentation of greek food in a different format. Different wines an some very different wine styles which made it more interesting. The concept of using pickled food in quaint jars added to the dimension of the menu.
Its hard to change peoples concepts of greek food when most of them have never tried classical greek food and by this i dont mean not sticking to the very same food which was brought out by greek immigrants 70 yrs ago .Its about time young chefs do they own thing and bring a new dimension to greek cuisine. So for all those who want to try something different give young chefs a go .Iam looking forward to something different on the menu SO surprise me.

-----31 Mar, 2013-----

Lunch or dinner. I have always had a great time at "The George" Good food, wine & good company...A place to drop in eat, no dishes or cleaning up its great....Try it...!!!!

Arrived at 745 for dinner it's now 9:20 and all we've received is our bread and dips and cheese.
When we asked the waiter where our food was, totally the wrong attitude. Apparently it's our fault that everyone arrives at 7 and orders at the same time overloading the kitchen.
Sorry but if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen.
Not to mention, when we received our mains and asked where our other starters were, apparently the waiter forgot them.
On the plus side, when the food arrived it was really nice.
Make sure you don't come on A Friday or Saturday night.

George has left the building?. Last night we went with friends to George's Meze, been 3 times before and noticed the place half empty for a Saturday night! The waiter showed us to our table with no real interest and went parrot style through the menu. Myself and my mate went for the lamb rack and were 'told that it is only served med / rare. Mine was so over done, dry and had not the slightest 'taste'of Greece a total waste of the $ 40 each. It came with 2 boiled potatoes and 3 squash that''s it. My wife selected the fish of the day as the waiter had done a great selling job, this was tasteless, dry and half of it was left. The other lady had the lamb skewers 'Greek Style''one skewer was all lumps of fatty, glutinos gristle and was unedible and that too went back. I complained to what turned out to be the owners son who was to be fair very keen to hear our story. We had all the lamb dishes taken off the bill. I sĂĄid somethings changed here, no salt and pepper offered and not one person asked if the food was ok till the very end as they came to collect the plates. I asked what was the problem with the main waiter and was told he has an ego problem!! In another comment I see someone else asked where is George, if this continues he is best to stay where ever he has gone to. I see also the entertainment has stopped, the serves are smaller and its completey over priced.
Tomorrow Is...
Not good, not bad, just different. My partner and I returned to George's Meze and in the car on the way there we joked about whether or not I would have what I always have...the Goat! Alarm bells should have been ringing loud and clear that something had changed when we managed to get a parking spot right outside the restaurant...on our previous visits we had to park some distance away. The restaurant was only a quarter full which we remarked upon and when we were given the menus, that's when we realized something was different. There was no Goat!!! When we asked the maitre d' he told us that it was to do with the cost and the quality. My partner ordered the lamb and I ordered the ribeye steak. The portions were smaller than before and the ingredients didn't seem to reflect the rustic, hearty dishes we remembered from our previous 4 visits. My ribeye dish was minus the "smoked vine-ripened tomatoes" - they had been replaced by undercooked flavorless boring tomatoes which would be more at home on a breakfast plate. We thought George's had changed hands but apparently it's just that the chef has changed. Our question is..."why change something that was working so well?" To sum up, our thoughts were that it wasn't good, it wasn't bad, it was just different but to be honest, I prefer the old George's Meze.

Great Support Act. We visited George's Meze for a quick dinner before a show at the Regal. We wanted prompt service and we didn't want to overeat. The staff were very friendly and the outdoor section was really intimate. My husband and I both ordered entree size meals - Beef Cheeks for him, Lamb Souvlakia for me - and some dips and bread. The food was delicious and the serves generous. The drinks were really overpriced (over a third of the total price went on two drinks) but the food was excellent. We will return.

Delicious but so over priced. We ordered a vegetarian platter to share between 2 & had 2 beers each. When the platter came out we thought the staff just got the order wrong and had given us a veg platter for 1 (platter cost $60 so $30pp). We inhaled the food, drank our beers & were greeted w a bill for $94!!!! We were speechless. The service was good, the live music great but we'll never go back again w prices like that...especially as we were still hungry after spending almost $100 on a meal
