Expensive for sushi train, but the a la carte is very good. We've been back a few times to sample the menu and haven't been dissatisfied. We sent back a terriyaki chicken as it wasn't good, but they were very good about it. The beef tataki is to die for. Great staff.
Came here for a quick stop on my lunch break.
Ordered the Thai Beef Salad from the menu and it was great - large portion, fresh and yummy.
Service was fast and the food from the train was also good
In this cafe you can try a good variety of Asian food. (Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai etc.)
Price: A bit expensive.
Food: Yum!
Service: Lovely.
The Teriyaki was perfect and tasted so good as well as the miso soup. It was such a nice punctuation to a busy day to be able to sit there is such a nice restaurant was lovely.
One Tonne Experience
+3.5
Friendly staff make up for the slightly above average food. You can't ask for more from Tao's because they seem to do almost any asian dish rather than specialise at some.
I tried the Vietnamese range, my favourite Pho Tai, surprising better than expected. The broth was served with proper 'Pho' fragrance though it was a bit sweeter than my liking . Having said that, I was more glad there was no hint of 'instant quick-fix flavours' like some restaurants do. The noodles were a tad undercooked but passable.
My wife ate from the sushi train. She had salmon/ tuna avacados rolls and crab balls which she seemed quite happy with.
Not over the top but enough for me to come by for a quick bite again.
Bought a Groupon for this cafe and I was pleasantly surprised by the positives of this cafe.
Firstly it's 2mins walk from the Subiaco train station which is super convenient for families. The decor itself was modern with an Asian twist. I ordered the teriyaki chicken with rice which was just average but my partner's Tom Yum was really nice with a very generous serving.
Overall I enjoyed my lunch experience here but noticed that during peak lunch period, the Cafe was nearly empty. I was told it was due to a lack of parking in the area, which is a bit of a shame.
Friendly staff and a spacious interior. Half a sushi train and half restaurant meant there was not much variety on the train. We came here on a groupon voucher and the cost was reasonable.
My partner and I love the food here, the restaurant is very clean and it is in a good location. Only thing is the service... not so good. Maybe some more options on the sushi train would also be nice but what they do have is very nice!
My partner and I actually enjoy Tao in Subiaco. We normally order the 'Crazy Crab Roll' ($21) and 'Ichiban Roll' ($21) and then a few dishes off the sushi train if we're really hungry. We've only ordered from the Japanese menu so I can't review Tao altogether, but from my experiences at Tao with Japanese food, I'm really satisfied with the quality (not the best I've had, but definitely not bad)(also really pretty presentation) of their sushi and we love the seats that let us see the chefs making our food! The 'Ichiban Rolls' has remained a favourite from their menu for a while and I would definitely recommend that people give this place a chance! (At least with their sushi rolls anyway).
Food here is average but i like the variety. And the restaurant is very clean and spacious. Service is very friendly which is very important for me.
Food and service was excellent! Quick service and a range of cuisines available, customer service was very helpful and this deserves a high class rating within the Subiaco district 👍🏻
Went Friday night for oyster special, AMAZING! Oysters were fresh and very tasty, had a bottle of wine and a few dishes of the train. All very tasty and was even more impressed when i received the bill. I will definitely be back .. Well done Tao
Great place to eat a various food dishes. We loved it so much. There is great choice of sushi offered on the train. We enjoyed the ambient and excellent service. Recommended
I had some of the sushis off the sushi train and they had good flavour. I like that the sushi train allows you to see what is available to choose from and that it also means you can eat straight away without having to wait:
Went for lunch on a thursday with the wife. Big place with nice interior and a long sushi train. I had the thai drunken noodles. They were good and when i tried the wifes dish that was pleasant aswell. The place was nice nothing to rave about.
I went to Tao as I'm a fan of Japanese food and was pleasantly surprised. I had what amounted to a large three course meal with both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks to accompany my meal. All for less than $65. Impressed with both the quality of food and the service. A good night out.
Very quiet for a Saturday evening. Very large restaurant and good service because there was plenty of staff in comparison to number of diners. Lots of options to choose from
Better than what I thought. I had egg Benedict with salmon. It's not bad comparing to the one I had in a few popular cafes. My friend had pork belly, the deco was simple but the skin was very crispy and the meet is juicy. The place is quite light with big Windows. Not so quiet but a good place to go if you don't want to wait. The service was just average but the price was reasonable.
Loving Tao at the moment. They took over Wagamamas spot in Subiaco and we have been about 4 times already!
Service is amazing, food is to die for. I am addicted to their chicken kapitan personally, and my partner really digs the steam basket selection.
I would recommend staying away from the big breakfast. They excel in Asian dining, and a full cook up does not belong in the region. We have eaten about half the breakfast menu (served until 2pm!) and everything is amazing!
Make sure you head on over
Located where Wagamama used to be, Tao cafe is a mix of Asian foods from Thai to Vietnamese to Japanese. The sushi train offers a huge selection of freshly made food, deserts and drinks. I ordered the veggie curry puffs and at $8 for 2 seemed mean but these were huge. And yummy too. Ordered the satay chicken off the Vietnamese menu and at $15 which included rice was very reasonable priced. Definitely worth a visit. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
