Within the top three meals of my life, comfortably. Some of the best flavour combinations with incredible depth I've tasted. Top quality locally sourced and foraged produce. Extremely personal and friendly welcome and hosting, which really doesn't feel like service, but rather like your having a meal with a bunch of friends who really know what they're doing with wine and food. Great to speak face to face with not only the chef, but also the owners/winemakers who can tell you all about the produce and wine. A real earth to plate experience. Will certainly be returning and will certainly be promoting this place.
Go to this place. You won't be disappointed. Have been a few times now, different times / days / seasons / menus. We are always blown away by the creativity and quality behind every glass and every dish. Such a hidden gem.
What a beautiful place. So much love is produced in these walls. With low intervention, great commitment and energy! Make sure you land in Adelaide on a Friday to not miss this amazing restaurant (house of food and delight would better describe this treasure). Gorgeous food, marvelous no sulfite wines and everything you ever wanted on this planet. Thank you aristologists. Can’t wait to be at yours again ❤️💥❤️
Very relaxed atmosphere great service and healthy tasty creative food which is what is in season or in their garden the charcoal whiting and pickled squid delicious and the broccoli with fresh horseradish and pepitas and macadamia delicious and the grain dish is divine along with the wine list is really interesting loved it. Thanks Guys!

Amazing place with the best, most social and attentive staff. Highly recommend
What an amazing meal, wine, service and atmosphere. There were 9 of us (inc 3 children) and with so many choices of share plates we were "fed" which meant we tasted every option. It was the best food experience I have had. The wines are "different" and outstanding. We will definitely be back.
Love it! I watched this place get renovated for months as I drive past there every day. It is great to see it open for business. A fantastic place to visit, drink local wine and eat real food. Thank you!!
Tim and Aaron where the perfect hosts. The right combination of laid back and informative about the produce and wine. We loved the communal vibe that encouraged conversation with fellow diners. A perfect afternoon
I absolutely loved this place and so did my parents. The perfect place for Mother's Day. Delicious food with delicious wine and fantastic service! I will definitely be back soon!
Had such an awesome Sunday drinking great wine and eating super simple local food! Great service and good vibes! Seriously worth the drive up the hill!
The Summertown Aristologist is one of the rare places that you can eat and drink all day and walk away feeling healthier than you did when you walked in. This place is amazing and full of genuine care and attention to detail. Go eat and drink here as soon as possible.
First time here... we were really impressed! Loved every bit of it! From the decor down to the dishes we were eating off! Service was fantastic, friendly staff And the Food was amazing!
Had many meals here and never disappointed - great food with combinations that are eclectic but stunning flavours. The lanb and fish from tonight were stunning
Sensational food and wine - best food discovery in recent times - a must do
What to try somewhere where it's secretly happening, pop into Summertown Aristologist. Remove yourself from the typical eatery and drop past the Artistologist for a different experience, you will be pleasantly surprised. Loved it!
Food, wine + service fabulous. Every detail has been considered from plates and glassware to house made bread and cheeses. The perfect cellar door come restaurant for interesting and delicious vino.
Fantastic food, wine and company!! I will definitely be back!
My friend who lives in Adelaide recommended we visit here. I did have a look at their sample menu on website and it took my interest as it was very casual fare however had a chef’s hat to boot.
I immediately felt welcomed here as soon as we sat inside on the communal table. The service was impeccable and very hospitable.
The menu is simple but plays to its strength utilising seasonal produce. It was pretty easy choosing what we wanted to eat due to having less choice. We started off with Bread & Butter. The bread was fresh and fluffy. Nduja Toast & Pickled Onions were an absolute delight to eat. I was hesitant it may be too spicy for me but it had a light kick of spice and I could’ve devoured the entire dish myself. Pickled onions added another wonderful texture.
We then shared the Smoked Celeriac, Potato & Yolk. It was a surprising dish and conceptually worked well. Ribbons of potato and chunks of celeriac mixed with egg yolk was delicious. Although all the dishes were designed to share we had our own large dish each as I’m not much of a seafood fan and my friend wanted the Mussel Vongole & Spring Onion. She said it was flavoursome and nicely cooked. I had the Chicken & Garden Vegetables. The breast of chicken was as succulent as I’ve had it for ages. There were also a few pieces with crispy skin. It was a dish with such regular ingredients but the execution was second to none. It certainly elevated your humble chicken.
We finished off with some dessert. My friend has Fennel & Rhubarb. This was presented as a fennel parfait with strips of rhubarb. She really enjoyed it as wasn’t too sweet. I had the Meyer Lemon & Yoghurt. This was served as a yoghurt pannacotta with candied lemon. I also thoroughly enjoyed this. Again not too sweet but the candies pieces of lemon had the sweetness I was looking for.
I would give this bar/restaurant a try as it’ll certainly surprise you with what they can create with minimal description.
I accidentally stumbled upon this gem while driving through the Adelaide Hills. The restaurant has a modern cozy hipster vibe, perfect for the current autumn atmosphere. Delicious fragrant coffee, cultured music and a menu that features seasonal local produce based on daily harvest. The several dishes we tried danced kindly on our palettes. I would love to return to try the winter menu.
We don't get up into the Hills very often so a birthday was a great opportunity to visit the Summertown Aristologist (which we have been keen to for quite some time). The seating options are a booth, a seat at the large communal table, window seating at a long bench or outdoor. Being two we were lucky enough to get a cute corner booth just big enough for us. The service is casual but friendly and the staff were happy to walk you through details of the wine or the food. The food and drinks menu is short but well considered and there is good variety. We worked our way steadily through both so we enjoyed some very different wines and excellent food. With everything local, and most things either made or grown by the restaurant the quality is high. I'm not a dessert person but the highlight for me was the celeriac dessert with burnt butter icecream - I could easily have had another.
Oh my... food hipsters unite! This is one place you must visit. Settled within the beautiful Adelaide Hills, dine amongst the calm and taste a selection of fresh and interesting dishes.
This is definitely more of a food experience and each dish is fairly simply, mainly focussing on a singular idea/ texture. The simple flavours seem to match the lifestyle here, at least on a surface level, and draw you into the Adelaide charm.
It's a very small venue so be sure to reserve a table. The Hills can also be cold. You're also paying the $$ for the experience, so know that going in... but still cheaper than fine dining for sure.
A great experience tasting things I wouldn't have thought to cook myself - always a winner that!

This little gem is located in Adelaide hills at the little village Summertown. The dishes are completely sustainable with all the veggies coming from their own gardens, are super tasty, the dishes are well seasoned and truly enhance the ingredients. The wine list is focused on the vin nature of Basket range and little international cool cuvée are there too. Service is on point with great attention. Highly recommended. Also the Bread is super...
Went here for a very pleasant Sunday lunch. Had the "don't think about the food" menu which included nearly everything. We were there for over 2.5 hours which was too long on backless stools. But the food was great - lots of small, healthy and tasty courses. Staff were explained things well, but were busy and it was a bit hard to catch their eye.
Hidden gem in Adelaide Hills. Customer service is good, staff seem very passionate about the food and natural wine they serve. Lovely ambience and delicious food! The eagle ray, peppers and pippies were the best! Would certainly recommend!
What an amazing feed! The staff were kind and accommodating, atmosphere relaxed and understated but the food, was honestly what stood out. Every dish had such unique flavours. Such a great time all round

Recently returned to find that they are still producing amazing plates of food, using only the freshest local ingredients.
One noticeable improvement was the size of the dishes. We partook in Chefs feed me menu and left with incredibly satisfied belly's. Will be back soon.

There is so much to love about this place...
First let me say that if most restaurants followed the same food philosophy as these guys the world would be a much better place haha. Today's savvy diners are ever more conscious about where their food comes from and eateries are being held accountable to a sustainable "waste not want not" culture.
Summertown Aristologist captures and exemplifies the essence of "seasonal" farm-to-table eating, with a green thumb approach to growing all produce at their local veggie patch in Basket Range; and their effort to ensure each component presented on a plate is made in-house further highlights their chefs strive for excellence.
Add to this a wine list that is geared around local organic vino and the picture is complete.
With "feed me" menus on trend, the recent decision to follow suit at the start of 2020 makes perfect sense. Patrons can roll up, sit back and relax knowing the worry of deciding what to order is in capable hands.
Sarah & Matilda ran the front of house like clockwork, whislt the communal style seating brought a welcomed, 'get to know your neighbour' vibe to the experience.
The one and only criticism I have (and it pains me to say it), would be that the portion sizes for wk169's menu where a little on the smaller side for two people to share, but maybe that's because selfishly I just wanted more.
Friday night dinner at @the.summertown.aristologist - the "don't think about it" menu because we couldn't decide what to have. Ended up being pretty much the entire menu 😅😅. All the food was local, and the menu changes weekly. So good!
.
Bread and butter: made by themselves, and the bread was super super moist and soft on the inside. The butter was super delicious 🤤🤤.
.
Fresh curd and green tomatoes: this was a very interesting dish. The curd was light, but really smooth. So yummy!
.
Gnocco fritti: fried deliciousness with yummy pork on top. Also had some sprinkling of chilli powder on top, which gave it a nice kick! Super super yummy!
.
Squash terrine: wow the flavours were amazing, and the squash was so soft!
.
Devilled egg with gochujang: so yummy!! Nice spicy flavour. The gochujang made it extra special 😍😍.
.
Pickles: some pickled carrots and beetroot! Pretty good 👍.
.
Goolwa pipis: really tasty, with a somewhat acidic soup that was really delicious to drink!
.
Broccoli with romesco and furikake: nicely grilled with a smokey flavour. The sauce made it super yummy 🤤🤤.
.
Duck heart, sweet corn: wow I really enjoyed this dish! The sweet corn was essentially like a corn porridge, and it tasted amazing. The duck heart was very tender, and had none of the metallic/iron taste that hearts do have sometimes. Great dish 😍😍😍.
.
Forest range duck, lentils, cettuce: omgggggg this was amazing!!! The duck was smoked and grilled, and the flavours were just incredible 😍😍😍🤤🤤🤤. The meat was very tender, and the skin was super crispy. The rest of the dish were excellent as well. Interesting having the cettuce, which I haven't had in a long time!
.
Rice pudding with rhubarb: super creamy but not very heavy, and the rhubarb was super tasty!
