Given the heat wave we decided to pop out for dinner. A surprising find in the burbs.
I ordered the chicken which was nice and tender. My partner enjoyed the steak which was well cooked and very tasty too. A little more on the expensive side but well worth it for the quality.
What a lovely night in Sunbury. A nice dark ambiance, mood lighting and warmth. An open kitchen provides a great smell over the restaurant.
The food sounded amazing on the menu and didn’t disappoint. The soft, fluffy pillows of deliciousness, aka: Ghnocci, just melted in my mouth! No chewing required. The lamb shanks fell off the bone and separated perfectly with ease of the fork. The eggplant Parma or more of a veggie lasagne, full of flavour and the veggies blended together amazingly. The high stacked apple pie, full of apples and marinated in cinnamon went perfectly with the home made vanilla bean ice cream. If you’re ever in or around Sunbury, pop on in for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
About 20 of us seated. All of our meals came out at the same time. My husband and I ordered the burger and the potato with sour cream cheese and bacon. We aniahlated it. It was yummy!
I dine at this restaurant frequently (at least 1-2 times per week) and every time the service is fantastic, the food is delicious and the wine list is extensive and current.
I would recommend the steaks which are cooked to perfection and also the pasta dishes. A favourite dish of mine from the specials board is the Portobello Chicken with creamy mushroom sauce, mash and broccolini.
I have lived in the area for many years and there is nothing like this place it's by far the best restaurant in the area and surrounding suburbs you will not be disappointed dining here!
Finally got around to visiting this restaurant as it was recommended by some friends.
We found it a little noisy and not much room to move, however the food and service were both very good. We will be back
Have never been disapointed with a meal at Roquette. Our favourite place to dine out. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. The food is of a very high standard, always something new on specials board. Thank you for another amazing meal
Nice fresh food great presentation
Worth a visit do a great breakfast
Quickly served and staff are really friendly
Great place for Sunbury in our top 3
There has been a lot of cafes/restaurants that have come & gone in Sunbury - I hope this one stays - we had a really nice dinner, food was excellent, tasty & decent portions - the wait staff were nice & attentive we will definitely be back
Nice establishment. Better than average and would go back but by no means a stand out. Had the (lunch menu) steak sandwich and chips, which was very tasty and a good size for $20, as well as the slow cooked lamb with roast beetroot couscous. This dish was delicious and I recommend it although the serving isn small for $24. Pricey drinks though, $4.50 for a flat coke that was poured into a class from a large bottle. I suggest the tap water.
All in all was a nice experience with friendly wait staff. Under $50 for 2 people is reasonable.
Cute little venue, food is delicious, highly recommend the Zucchini Flowers - They are amazing! Service is good. My only complaint is that they don't have a lot of vegetarian options.
Usually my go to place to eat out in Sunbury. Nice environment service can be a bit patchy but the food is good. Wait time can be a bit long when they are busy but its worth the wait. Food is well presented and very tasty dishes are on offer. Better than the usual pizza pasta that Sunbury is overflowing with.
One of our absolute favourite spots in Sunbury for brekky, lunch and dinner.
Great coffee, icy cold beer and top service!
Had the herb crumbed cutlets tonight and they were 10/10!!
Great little place, would love to see more tapas on the menu. Excellent wine list. Beautiful service. Perfect for a sneaky wine or three. ;)
A wonderful city class eatery. The open lamb souvlaki is a real taste treat as was the Thai beef salad. A jewel in Sunbury.
Best in Sunbury!. Best coffee, best brekkie, best atmosphere and best food all around. Almost doesn't belong in Sunbury, but I'm glad they do! A little taste of city quality out in good ol' Sunbury. 11/10!!!
Sadly, Roquette seems to be haphazardlyrics open on Mondays. This inconsistency will cost them. Otherwise I love their food, drinks, service.
Great Night Out @ Roquette. Up until recently we have been dining out of town due to some bad experiences at local eateries. We decided to try Roquette last Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised with the standard of meals and level of service. I had the Moroccan Chicken ($23) my partner had the Grilled Salmon ($29). Both meals were very tasty & well presented. The service staff were very attentive & nothing was over looked. Entree, mains, drinks, coffee all served within the time frame of 65 minutes. All in all a very pleasant experience & like General MacArthur once said, "we will return".
A standout in Sunbury. As a Sunbury local, I am really excited by Roquette. I visited as part of a small group for the first time today after reading other reviews on here, and I was very impressed. Once you step through the doors you quickly forget you are in the outer north western suburbs of Melbourne. It has a great atmosphere and a quality, modern fit out that doesn't come across as contrived.
I can understand what some other reviewers have said about service. It was a little slow and inattentive at times, but it was generally pretty adequate. Staff were pleasant enough and I certainly didn't get any sense of rudeness or indifference.
The food was very tasty and of a quality not often seen in Sunbury. I was even impressed by the small but interesting (and very reasonably priced) wine list. I can see Roquette being a real "go to" place in the summer months. Even while we were there over the course of a few hours on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of winter, we noticed that there was a constant trade and turnover of customers.
I really hope these guys do well because this is exactly the kind of place that Sunbury has been missing. I would suggest diners go there with a few hours to spare, order a bottle of wine, chill out and take in the atmosphere and accept it may be a bit slow at times. If you want to rush in and out and be fussed over while you are there, this probably isn't the place for you.
Lynnedoc6. Mothers Day breakfast was fantastic. Best eggs florentine I have had at any restaurant. The service was impeccable would highly reccomend anyone to have a meal here. This is our 3rd visit in a couple of months and so far the service & food have been first class. Great job Roquette.
Lovely food but SLACK Service. I to have to agree that the food is to die for, you could not find better food in Sunbury, unfortunately the wait staff don't suit the establishment perhaps some more training is needed I also waited about 10 minutes before i asked The waitress if we could order drinks and I also had to ask for our table to be cleared of empty glasses, and then call the waitress over again to order dessert. It seems that it is only a job for some of the staff and they lack the customer service skills needed for this industry. There seemed to be no one in charge on the floor and wait staff seemed to wander aimlessly and talk a lot. Success is in the details if staff are managed and trained correctly and have good leadership this restaurant will continue to be a success.
Have been to roquette a few times now and would have to disagree with negative comments. Have always found the service to be quick and friendly, the atmosphere, unlike most places in sunbury, is relaxed and always pleasant and above all else the food is exceptional. Although I don't dine out nearly as much as I 'd like, my first choice for a local place is always roquette.
Amazing food but slow service. Before I comment on the very long wait we had I'll start by saying that in the 7 years I've been dining in Sunbury, this is the first time I've seen food of this class in a town overloaded with mediocre Italian (with the exception of Vic's) and Charcoal chicken shops! It was very good quality and everyone's meal looked elegant and had great flavor.
After we had been there for around 10 minutes we had to call the waitress over because we had not been offered drink yet.
About 10 minutes later we called her over again to ordered our mains, but after an hour and 20 minutes still did not have any food on the table. I told the waitress how long we had been waiting and without any prompting she took our last round of drinks off the bill and was very apologetic. I'm not sure what happened in the kitchen because in the 80 minutes we waited for our meals other tables of people had come and gone. Other tables seemed to have better service too, with the waitresses asking if they can do anything and checking on them, whilst we never had any of them actually come to our table without being called.
We will be going back because we really want to like this place. Fingers crossed the service matches the food this time then it would be outstanding by far in Sunbury.
(PS. i agree with the comment that the decor is good but needs some kind of small detail to lift it.)
A novel idea, although success is in the details.
We had cheesecake, wine and coffee at 11pm Friday, in the outside section.
Things I would suggest:
Serviettes with all dishes.
Adjust tables to reduce instability.
Tea lights on tables outside.
Scrap the live music and have chilled laid back lounge music, if i wanted guns n roses I'd go to one of the many pubs.
Apart from those things, we enjoyed the smooth service, the excellent desserts and the wine list.
We will definitely be coming back soon.
Yummy food. I too appreciate the style of food here and enjoy it.
However I wish Sarah stayed as I'm not as fond of the customer service anymore.
Some more passion is needed and this will be the perfect place.
Have been a few times food has been great but service seems to have gone down since change in restaurant manager. Also a lot of deep fried food for entre menu which I am not a fan of.
Tasty food & good atmosphere. Had a lovely meal at roquette.. food was lovely.. We had zucchini flowers for entree which were lovely..a reason in themselves to return, pasta was lovely, fish was yumm, the pork belly was a little chewy but flavoursome.
Two courses $50 each with a glass of wine and coffee.
will add this restuarant to my favorites
