One of my favourite place to eat in Sunshine. Always bring ‘wow’ factor with the generous servings especially rice dishes.
Great value for money! But ended up spending lots because of too many choices to choose from. Fresh ingredients, beautiful flavour, well presented.
Always finish off the meals with 3 colours drink, creamy coconut milk drinks with 3 types of beans! Asking for no sugar for a healthier option!
All food was amazing! Best Vietnamese we have had in a long time! Will be back. Spring rolls are phenomenal! Super clean and attentive service.
My favourite Vietnamese restaurant on the west side! The pho here is so authentic, I feel like I'm back in Ho Chi Minh. Large sizes, great prices and the staff are always really friendly - plus they give you heaps of coriander which I love
Wow the laksa here is incredible! I’m not a massive spicy and the staff were super accomodating. Literally can’t fault my experience here all the food was delicious and so reasonably priced too! Plus get 15% off with Zomato 😍
Flavour really good, speedy service, super friendly staff, my second time here and the staff remembers me. This is how a business should run. Recommend
i love this place!🥺 i used to have lunch here with my family pretty often as the quality of the food is great and it's quite affordable so there's nothing much to miss tbh. the servers are very accommodating+polite and the owner seems like a very amiable person. i hope to come back soon :)
I like the spicy beef pho but the beef blood doesn’t tastes fresh. The tomato fried rice with beef chunks is big portion and nice but the beef chunks can be more seared. Overall is not bad for trying it out.
This place is no stranger to the locals in Sunshine, they have been around for almost 11 years!
They have newly renovated and its chic and modern with a nice and simple decor.
The menu had so many options, and we decided on the pho and stir fried egg noodle with beef. The portions were reasonable and we really enjoyed it. The stir fried egg noodles were an absolute favourite, it had a nice charred flavour and the beef is nice and tender
The staff here is really nice and attentive. Will definitely be back again
We defected here after having been to Co Do numerous times. And we were rewarded with better service, better food and a better atmosphere. The layout is comfortable and things just work. The stir-fried Scotch fillet was extremely generous and the stir-fried chicken with shiitake mushrooms also went down a treat. Thuan An has firmly secured its place as our go-to Vietnamese in Sunshine.
Lovely restaurant in Sunshine. Varied menu with lots of delicious rice and noodle dishes. Food is always fresh, light and delicious. The Vietnamese Bun Bo Hue is my fave, especially all throughout winter!
Came here a week ago as I was passing through for work. Had the fried egg noodle combination and work mate had the crispy fried chicken with tomato rice. We both really enjoyed the food. The service was quick and friendly. Can't wait to get another job on that side of town.
❤️ tomato fried rice with crispy fried chicken ($12.50); broken rice with the lot ($12.50)
👍 great portion size; beauty spacious ambiance; good customer service and fast to order; great flavour in each component in the dish
👎 grilled pork (in broken rice dish) needs to be grilled slightly longer for better texture; slightly below average dish presentation
🕓 not busy at 8.30PM, Sunday night; food comes out within 10 minutes
❗️you can upgrade most of the dishes to a large size for a small extra charge—this includes more rice/noodles (all the meat portion remains the same
Nice place to take your family. Food is good here and the interior is very nice. Only issue is trying to find parking.... Good for big groups though!
My family and I have been going here for years and the service and food has always been great. It’s a favourite to go to and as of late, they have really stepped up and spruced up the place. Looks fantastic. Has a cafe feel but still serve quality food!
I don't often go to Sunshine but sometimes work takes me to the west. I have tried a number of venue's for lunch but think I have tried enough to know that Thuan An Restaurant is the best on the strip. One of the few venue's that take pride in their appearance, a modern fitout and food to match. Hard to fault this authentic Vietnamese venue. Must try if you find yourself in Sunshine!
Such a lovely boss, always smiles and greets us personally, and the staff there are all sweet!
The food is always good and consistently great - my favourite is the fried egg noodle with combination LARGE for about $18 and that’s a big, big plate!
This place has one of the biggest menus I've ever seen, there is SO much on offer! After a long time deciding, I went for the egg noodle 'birds nest' dish and the special fried rice and both were winners.
The Birds Nest had mixed meat, seafood and vegetables, everything was cooked well and I was really impressed with how crispy the noodles stayed. The rice was fantastic with just enough veggies and seasoning mixed through.
Given how many dishes were on the menu that I wanted to try, I will definitely be back for another meal!
Have a lunch here, I ordered satay chicken with steamed rice. The rice is soft and sticky and satay sauce is delicious as well. I like the decoration inside as well. It is simplicity style, make customers feel nice and clean. Good food, nice environment. No reason say no for lunch time.
This is one of my favorite Vietnamese places in Melbourne and they got a huge variety of Vietnamese cuisine.
My favorites are the Pho Bo, Bun Bo Hue and Bun Bo Nam Bo! The meat is always tinder and sliced perfectly. The broth is rich in flavor and very close to the original!
Also you can get bubble tea along with your meal which I personally love!
If you are looking for a big range of authentic Vietnamese food, this is the place to go!
Love the vibe of this place !
The bench style tables making it such an awesome place to eat!
very open style restaurant that offers Bubble tea and other yummy treats!
The recent renovation really lifted this place up and other that being a few dollars more expensive than its neighbors I still always walk in!
We recently moved nearby and have been looking around the restaurants in the area. I've always been eyeing on eating in Thuan An and what can I say, I wasn't disappointed. I was feeling sick and felt the need to eat hot soup. We ordered Congee with Chicken and Drop Rice Noodle Soup with Crab Meat and Pork. The dishes were excellent and very affordable. Service was fast as it felt like we didn't wait more than 5 minutes for our meal. Will definitely visit again to try out the other dishes and this will probably be my go-to when I'm too lazy to cook.
Look no further for you Vietnamese and Chinese Cuisine!
This menu is MASSIVE! So, you'll find yourself coming through here a lot if you have any passing interest in any of these cuisines, as they are THE BEST!
I already look forward to visiting again soon!
The best Vietnamese restaurant in Sunshine hands down! The food is always fresh and delicious and comes out super fast. Perfect if you're stopping in for a quick lunch!
My husband and I went here last night for the first time based off of a recommendation from a friend. The establishment was quite modern and very clean. The food was really well priced and the servings were generous.
The staff were patient as I could not decide what I wanted from their extensive menu, the service was really friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious! I ordered the tomato rice with scotch fillet steak and my husband ordered the combination stir fry, we both loved the food and will be back very soon.
We've been regulars since discovering this local eatery a few months ago. With plenty on the menu, we still have lots to try but our favourites are the scallop fried rice with salted egg and crispy skin chicken with thuan an sauce.
Their prompt and fast service is always consistent and with the place recently renovated, the atmosphere is more welcoming. The dishes here are good for 2 as they come in a big serving with plenty of ingredients tossed in.
ordered the tomato rice & crispy skin chicken, the chicken was really good. the tomato rice lacked a bit of the tomato taste but my brother mentioned it was much better the last time he went. still had a very good char flavour
vietnamese ice coffee was good, old school drip style
😱Lizzie’s first impression: My go to authentic Vietnamese restaurant I love going back to in Sunshine. The menu offers an abundance of Vietnamese dishes and they’re always so consistent.
🍩Lizzie enjoyed: I love the banh canh cua here which is a soupy dish with crab. It tastes fresh and the noodles are cooked perfectly everytime. The avocado smoothie was fresh and tasted very yummy.
🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: their Bun bo hue was a little let down as it wasn’t as tasty as I’ve tasted before. The noodles were a little soft.
🥇Lizzie rates overall: a great humble restaurant - they just renovated it to a more modern look which unfortunately takes away from the authenticity of a Viet restaurant but nonetheless the quality of the food hasn’t changed.
BEST Pho I have ever had and that is Pho real! A traditional Vietnamese restaurant open from breakfast until late. From the Pho to their famous crispy chicken and bubble tea. If you are looking for a quality feed in Sunshine (other than a burger), Thuan An restaurant is definately your spot.
I would say the food is pretty good here. On the last visit we ordered crispy chicken noodle and pork and spring roll bunh. The crispy chicken was actually very crispy which was good though it almost became too tough to bite. The noodle were all right but the soup was mediocre. The bunh was almost the same as every where else in Sunshine. Their servings though were quite big. Their ice coffee was very good, if you like Vietnamese style coffee then it should delight you. The place was a bit run down compared to the restaurants nearby but hey it's not a biggie.
Had a late lunch here with family, ordered BBH, special beef pho, crispy egg noodle combination, crispy chicken with drop rice noodle and Vietnamese coffee and three color drinks for dessert.
We all happy with our choice. My beef pho were delicious, the soup were good and the meat, tendons etc was beautiful.
The kidney bean on the three color could be softer, but other than that we had a good experience here. Will definitely come back soon!
Service was good and quick.
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in sunshine always packed with people during lunch and dinner peak hours. The place has quiet a lot of good dishes but the best for me in there crispy chicken and rice.
I had Panko prawns with a strawberry sauce, it doesn’t work. My mate had the goat curry, it was the most spicy thing he ever had and couldn’t even finish it. I had the lemongrass beef stir fry with was really good and my other mate had the crispy chicken with rice which was a massive portion. The owner was friendly and came to check on us from time to time. Only concern was the ambience.
Would have to say that this place is awesome. Friendly and welcoming staff. Food was fantastic. Portions are HUGE. Can't wait to go back again.
Ordered the tomato fried rice with cripsy skin chicken. First off, the serving size for this dish was huge. They gave so much rice that it was falling off the plate. The rice itself was tasty, but it was very oily. The best part was the chicken. I'd say their chicken is one of the best when comparing to other asian restaurants.
I would recommend this place if you're keen on something filling, greasy, and tasty.
✅ Great food - try the Com Tam (Broken Rice) bi suon cha (with pork Chop and egg).
✅ Good Vietnamese ice coffee (cafe su da).
✅ Accepts card payment with no surcharge.
✅ Quick service.
🚫 Staff not terribly friendly.
A lot of variety menu wise, food was a decent portion very tasty. Would definitely go back as pricing is reasonable c: ordered the soft shell crab rice paper rolls, seafood combination rice noodles and fried chicken with tomato rice.
One of my favourites! Crispy skin chicken is a must here! It will come out in five minutes! Quick service, excellent price for nice food that is local! Pho is my favourite here as well! Love it! Love the smiling man behind the counter after your meal!
Heaps of amazing choices, such quick service and friendly stuff! Busy a lot of the time but always a table!
Food is delicious and great quality, highly recommend 👍🏾
Great Vietnamese food right on my doorstep. Their thuan an crispy chicken is out of this world. The staff are always very friendly and inviting. I always recommend people new to the area to visit this restaurant.
The best place for crispy chicken and tomato rice! Ive been asking around for the best crispy chicken and it happened to be across the rd from my favourite pho place. Try the ribs and coconut prawns with strawberry jam also.
Still a really good place to visit - good service, tasty food and value for money. Only complaint was the inconsistency in the spiciness - the first time we ordered lemongrass & chilli chicken and requested it be less spicy and was told it wouldn't be spicy but ended up rather spicy. The second time we ordered the chilli noodles (bun bo hue) and it was too mild. Other than that really enjoyed my 3 visits to this place.
Huge menu at this place. After deciding what to order I was happy with my selections, we tried rice paper rolls, a little firm, but the herbs were all fresh. Lemon chicken was as it consistently is, Calamari in spicy salt, tender and flavoursome, fried rice was delicious really light and not oily.
And some bubble tea to end the evening.
My favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne. Would go here bi weekly if I could.
Chicken spare ribs are to die for and the stir fried, rice noodles with seafood is amazing.
Do yourself a favour and check it out.
My personal favorite viet restaurant in Sunshine. Crispy chicken noodle soup and crispy salt and pepper chicken ok fried rice are my favorite. Perfect for when you need a quick meal in the area.
It's All About Food
+3.5
A very nice place for some yum Vietnamese food.. I ordered for Chicken Laksa $10 very big serving was not even close to finish it .. Very delicious and was perfect for the chilling nights.. My husband got himself a Rare Beef and Chicken Pho $9.. Again a very big generous serve and tasted good .. Loved the fresh and refreshing serving of basil to put in.. My daughters ordered for Chicken and Corn soup very nice and a good portion of $5.. We even ordered Salt and Pepper Prawns for $16 the size of dish was justified for the money, the dish tasted good but I have eaten better than this.. Very decent pricing for all dishes .. Hot green tea are kept on the tables and unlimited refills for no cost..
The only problem in the Restuarant were the plates, cups and cutlery were not clean.. The staff were okay not rude but could be surely more friendly ..
We will surely visit this place again for the food
Fresh, fast, and friendly. Vietnamese pancakes are a must. Vege soft egg noodle stir fry, spring rolls, coleslaw are all packed with herbs and flavour. Always busy with Sunshine locals which says a lot as there are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants to choose from within 100m.
What I like about this place is that their portions are really big and their soup has a meatier (not sure if this is a word) taste and flavour compared to other pho places around the area. Their chicken wings with chef's special sauce was quite filling despite having only 3 chicken wings. Very tasty and will definitely come back if I'm around the area again
This is pretty much the only Vietnamese restaurant I have the least trouble convincing my bf (who is Vietnamese himself) to take me back to because of the food as well as the parking behind the restaurant. I haven’t been here for over a year because St Albans is closer for Vietnamese Cuisine, but St Albans area is under construction to remove the dangerous crossings so it’s annoying to be driving through there.
This is our go to Pho place in the West!
Item pictured below is the Camodian Pork combination with Prawns and Egg Noodle Soup. Have tried their Beef Brisket Pho & broth is amazing! 👌🏼👌🏼
Plenty of other choices on menu if you are not feeling like noodle soup too.
Welcoming layout and super comfy couches. The service was very quick, too bad the food wasn’t that great. At least the drinks were good. Three Colour Drink $4. Not served in the ideal glass, but did get a bonus 4th colour. Perfect sweetness and generous with the goodies. 8.4/10. Essential condiments for pho:
Quick and friendly service and clean 😊. Food was tasty and what we expected. Competitive prices, as there are 2 other Vietnamese restaurants next door. Kids love it here! So will definitely will be back 😊🙏.
We all order #122, beef with tomato rice and its Awesome 😃
The food was great. The staff were very Friendly. Nice and clean. Lots of choices. Big servings. Was served food quickly. Definitely be back. Great prices
Limited menu, however, possibly makes for more consistent dish quality. Standard cheap pricing for western suburbs Vietnamese. Good Pho, Rice Vermicelli and Broken Rice dishes.
Bun bo hue special, flavoured beef soup, including pork hock, pork blood, prawn loaf and sliced beef, nice flavour, the chillies served on the side are quite spicy.
The crab and prawn meat egg gravy with rice drop noodles, quite many crab meat, flavoured gravy, never had it before.
Good value meal
ordered the crispy combination noodles today and have to say the dish was not bad. The noodles was very crunchy and the meat, veggie was cooked well. The dish was also huge, fit enough for a king in my opinion that I struggled to finish it 😂. Never less better to have more food than less, right? The only problem was that the seafood meat tasted quite bland :(
Thuan An is possibly the best Vietnamese located in Melbournes western suburbs. It's nestled amongst a row of Vietnamese restaurants but the fact this place is always packed says a lot about the others.
The menu is diverse with plenty of options that are really well explained.
My favourite is a mixed Pho followed by the diced beef with rice. The Pho has balanced flavours with loads of chicken breast and sliced beef. The diced beef is a simple but ridiculously tasty dish especially when you have some of that lime, pepper and salt mix.
Boyfriend's favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Sunshine. The beef pho soup was full of flavour and the meat was not dried. Boyfriend had the crunchy noodles which he loved. Portions were very generous for the price and the service was good.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in the western subs , probably the best Vietnamese I've ever been too. Not to mention, the prices are really reasonable!
Their crispy chicken with tomato rice is to die for! Not many places I come across do tomato rice so I always come here when I have the craving :)
Although I live on the other side of town I really enjoy visiting sunshine for some of the most authentic Asian food in Melbourne. My personal favorite for Chinese is Thuan An. Over the years the owner has started to recognise us even though we only visit once every few months. We tend to start of with the spring rolls and enjoy the crispy chicken. Very clean and cheap.
I always love coming here... staff are nice and I love their food! Its really nice and fresh :) I keep coming back for more :) i recommend their Pho and diced beef 😍
The West is known for its excellent Asian restaurants. A staple of Sunshine. Thuan An has always been my go to for Vietnamese food in Melbourne.
Amazing.. Food (9): Fast but still delicious.
Ambiance (7): Very clean with comfortable seating. It's very brightly lit, so there's no real atmosphere. One minor suggestion - if you're going to have TV's on without sound - turn the subtitles on.
Service (10): Perfect. Extremely friendly staff.
Value: (10) Very cheap prices. Considering the quality of food you get, it's a steal!
Overall (9): If you're looking for Vietnamese in the West - this should always be your first stop.
Welcoming layout and super comfy couches. The service was very quick, too bad the food wasn't that great. At least the drinks were good. Three Colour Drink $4. Not served in the ideal glass, but did get a bonus 4th colour. Perfect sweetness and generous with the goodies. 8.4/10. Essential condiments for pho:
Large portions, cheap food, and super efficient. I enjoy coming to this restaurant for a good, quick feed. Their crispy chicken with tomato rice is the best!
An amazing establishment located within a stones throw of a multitude of outstanding eateries - a real stand out.
Worthy of mention are the sizzling plates which are both delicious and spectacular for the fact that on arrival the entire restaurant becomes engulfed in sizzle smoke.
Also on the must try list is the beef caserole served with a fresh vietnamese baguette, the pork and prawn vietnamese pancake (off menu item- just ask for it) and the homemade spring rolls.
They also do a great pho and have an infinite number of flavours of bubble tea.
The restaurant itself is well presented if anything slightly cramped at times.
Very much worth a visit or 3
