My top 5 go to list on the weekend. This family owned restaurant made one of the best Pho in melbourne, you can get ‘of all’ here! My favourite Pho is rare beef and tendon! Asking for extra serve of meats or tendon in a small bowl for extra few dollars!
Rice with crispy chicken was really fresh, crisp and full of flavour.!
Definitely a regular here
my favourite place to get pho in sunshine.
Pho is comfort food for me when im sick, and this place has help me battle some of the toughest bouts of manflu I have had in the past few years. the broth tastes both with or without a blocked nose, this place is a simple restaurant and can get fairly busy at peak times
Pro tip " siracha sauce with chicken pho" is better than codral cold in flu LOL
Known mainly for its Pho, this place serves up authentic Vietnamese dishes. There Bun Thits are so fresh, meats tender and juicy. BBH have some powerful broth flavours and not OTT with salt and MSG. Quick and friendly service. Great Value for money.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Best Pho in Australia. Worth coming to Scumshine for. Get the large only if you’re stronk. Large for stronk boys only. It’ll make you feel wek. 10/10 tho.
Awesome pho and good serving sizes. Not OTT with salt/MSG like so many other places.
Prawn spring rolls are good as well - light, crispy and nice flavour.
Staff are also friendly and attentive.
One of those decent places to have pho, and always a side of pork and prawn paper wraps. Recovering from the weather sickness and happy my taste came back in time for this goodness, love there pickled onions I used a lot. Got a small in size pretty decent with serving and pricing always willing to come back just for this pho ❤️
3.5 🌟
Really enjoyed the pho tai here. The beef is very tender, the chili has an awesome kick and the noodles are smooth and silky. The ice coffee is pretty crap, don’t get that. But the pork spring rolls are super yummy so just skip the coffee here.
Absolutely love love love this place! Great service, great atmosphere and of course great pho! Best dish on the menu would have to be the combination beef! Add a little lemon, sriracha and fresh chilli and you have a pretty great meal! Prices are affordable and the serving sizes are also generous.
Cold afternoon, and I felt the urge of having a bowl of nice and warm soup, so Pho was my choice.
Ordered a large bowl of special beef pho because I was hungry and greedy. 😅😅
And when it came to my table, I surprised of how big the bowl was. Goodness me!
The bowl was full of delight, heaps of tender meats, glutinous tendons, crunchy tripes, and hot & very tasty soup. Even though I was struggle to finish it, but there was no regret. Only one word: Yum!
Attentive staff and service was good and quick.
I will definitely come back.
Hands down the best place to get Pho in sunshine! The people who work there are very nice and the pho there tastes just as it does in its motherland!
Nothing makes a sneezy girl happier on an extra windy Autumn day than a piping hot bowl of Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Noodle Soup). You’ll find that this particular broth brings out the sweetness of the meat bones as well as the aromas of onions, chillies and lemongrass. I am disappointed to say that this was by no means actually spicy though and the chilli oil provided was only sweet. Not only that, the portions were a little off as I found I had more meat than noodles. Cheap and a generous serving, this is the perfect meal to have when your insides are feeling the wrath of Melbourne’s weather.
Always consistently good. Been attending this place for a number of years and cannot fault it. Its a typical no fuss Vietnamese eatery with higher than normal quality ingrediants in my view.
I haven't had a good Pho bowl for a long time. My Vietnamese friend took me here today and it was absolutely to die for. Accompanied by a Vietnamese style iced coffee, this was an affordable and perfect lunchtime meal. Will definitely be back.
I've been eating here for the last 5-6yrs, it's my go to pho joint in the area. Beside pho, I would always order a bowl of BBH (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup). Staffs could be a bit more cheerful but never had a problem with any of them. It generally takes a long time for drinks to come, sometime when I'm already half way with my bowl. Beside all that, this is my #1 hangover joint after a crazy night of clubbing.
This is my go-to place whenever I'm feeling like some pho. The restaurant is very spacious and clean. Staff are attentive whenever we walk in. The food comes out very fast and the portions are very generous.
Family friendly, relax and casual Vietnamese in the heart of Sunshine.
I've actually been coming here with the family for years, it's pretty much our go to when we're in Sunshine and the place is so consistent.
Staff were friendly, food comes out fast and the proportions are generous. I usually order a small Pho with spring rolls to share with a Cafe Su Da (not sure if I spelt it right but it's the Vietnamese Iced Coffee). You can't go wrong with this place. MBH
Stopped by for a quick lunch, never been, plenty of street parking non- metered too, nice clean spacious , ordered the prawn spring rolls and beef pho. The spring rolls were nice and authentic looking and long and not oily, lettuce was good, the beef pho smelt beautiful, nice flavour and overall good value and generous here, service was friendly and not pushy, relaxing ,
Best chicken pho and rice vermicelli in the west. Clean fresh fragrant and tasty. The chicken is soft and cooked perfectly.
Generous servings and value for money
Pho broth has improved since opening years ago, been here twice last week. It's good not great.
I'll give the prawn spring rolls a thumbs up, the taste is there.
Came for the typical pho and broken rice but was brought to another level. Great flavour - even the pork chop that comes with the broken rice was marinated with pandan! Good service, friendly staff, affordable price and clean place. Will definitely be back for the bun!
The best pho and spring roll place. Found this place after asking around for the best pho in Melbourne. They always use fresh ingredients and food is always consistent. The grilled pork vermicelli and Sunday Vietnamese pancakes are also highly recommended with a Vietnamese ice coffee.
A consistently good place for Pho. Usually very good although I'm sure I've had chicken stock added to my soup sometimes. Above average level of meat is used too. Very good service and fairly roomy if a bit simple inside. If you're in the area it's the one I'd recommend for Pho but not for other dishes.
This place probably has the best pho in the West, in my opinion so far, have yet to find a place that is better. Situated on Sunshine's Hampshire Road, equivalent to St Alban's Alfreida Street and Footscray's Hopkin Street full of Vietnamese stores and restaurants. It doesn't look particularly appealing based on its design, but it will draw you in when it's filled with people enjoying their delightful pho. You just have to give it a try to see what this place is all about!
Seatings is up to standards with your usual Vietnamese restaurant, not beautifully laid out or anything fancy and aesthetically appealing but practical with ample space to get around without complaining of bumping into people or furniture.Walk up the ramp and get seated by staff, at the table it has the usual arrangement of cutlery, sauces and of course the pickled onions to add to your pho for extra flavour! :D
I usually order the Pho Tai Gan in Small or Medium depending on my appetite, but whichever size you pick, you'll always get a good amount of actual ingredients that isn't just 'rice noodles' with broth. I'm teling you, beef tendons and brisket is not cheap, and when they give you a good amount, it means it's worth it. At least they ensure you get what you pay for, right? Not only that, but the broth is very flavoursome.
Customer service is just like many other good Vietnames restaurants, with being able to speak both English & Vietnamese, so great for those who aren't so good with English, such as visitors from overseas and International students - this is usually the norm with Vietnamese restaurants.
TLDR: Overall, this place has very efficient service, a fairly plain, simple design and atmosphere, well flavoured great portioned dishes with good amount of ingredients that isn't just the staple (e.g. rice noodles), very good value for what you get - would recommend to anyone who is nearby and just wants a nice bowl of Pho!
This is my parents' favorite pho restaurant. We always grab takeaway from here and have become known by the staff. Arguably the best in Sunshine.
When it comes to Vietnamese food, I tend to be quite particular about where to go depending on what dish I felt like eating. When I go to a Vietnamese restaurant, 95% of the time is recommended by someone for a particular dish. If I've been there long enough, I might try another dish.
If I feel like Beef Pho, and I'm in Sunshine, this is the place I would go.
Other dishes I enjoy here is the spring roll w vermicelli & broken rice w grilled pork.
Well I can't believe that i haven't review this gem of a place after dining here almost every week since moving to the inner western suburbs.
Being from the eastern suburbs we were used to filthy Vietnamese restaurant with obnoxious hospitality where words like "thank you" and "sorry" are forbidden. Hence was very amazed by the cleanliness level at Pho Hien Saigon and the warm hospitality that we have received each time.
Upon entering just indicate to the staff members the number of person in your eating group and they will courteously guide you to the most comfortable seating available. The menu is pretty much stock standard Vietnamese food (pho, rice, vermicelli). I would often interchange between the following dishes: beef pho, pork vermicelli, classic broken rice and lemongrass chicken rice. We will even order a serve of the fried pork spring rolls whenever we are extra hungry.
The signage on the front says "Best pho in the western suburbs". I think that sounds about right.
Visited this place recently despite a troubling warning from a friend about the restaurant's unhygienic environment. It turned out, the restaurant was pretty clean. The serving was pretty generous for the price and the food was good. I had chicken with vermicelli and while the chicken was pretty dry the overall dish was still recommendable.
First time eating here, felt like eating pho. The pho is a nice decent size, the soup was very good, it had plenty of rice noodles and meat. The waiter that served us was nice and friendly all our meal arrived without a problem and attentive to any of our additional requests. I was full and enjoyed the meal, definetely one in my list to have a pho again.
My favourite pho place in Sunshine! It's my go to place in winter, i always get the same dish "beef and brisket" noodle soup. The broth is beautiful..along with the semi cooked beef, just the way i like it! The brisket is tender, noodles was nice and soft, with each bite all i could think of was what an amazing dish this was!
A must visit during a winters night. The pho is a good size and has plenty of chicken in the soup. Add a bit of chili and it will kill any cold.
Fast friendly efficient takeaway service. Ordered Vietnamese ice coffee which was tasty and cheap. Got beef chicken combo pho - when arrived home was impressed that all components were individually packed so it could be made up to the individual's exacting taste. Super delicious flavour-filled pho. Yum! Good value great flavour. Recommend.
Amazing pho, I'd agree that it's probably the best in the west. I go at least once a week, always bring my friends along. Fantastic service.
The pho here is very nice & the serving sizes are decent. The place is very clean and is always busy. food tastes fresh. Staff are also lovely.
The food here is really nice !
Really filling and satisfying
I had the medium pho. It was decent, had a good amount of meat and was tasty.
Spring rolls (prawn & pork) were crispy & juicy
Service was friendly but the waiter had difficulties speaking English to my other 2 friends so I helped them out speaking a little bit of viet to the waiter. It can get awkward sometimes when some of waiters/waitress doesn't understand English but I just see it as a language barrier. We didn't mind as we were here just for food as we were hungry.
Overall, we walked out all happy and stuffed :)
I can't eat pho anywhere else! The Service is always good and the staff are friendly. The food comes out quickly and the place is clean :) I never feel rushed
A regular place for us :)
Great pho!
Small size bowl of pho is big enough for many people and delicious.
My regular weekly pho hit now.
Only wish they had a branch in the Eastern suburbs, as it's better than most in the east.
Pho'king great!. Never had a bad pho here and I've been here more times than I can remember.
Staff are friendly and efficient, prices cant be beaten - $35.00 for 3 medium bowls of pho and an entrée of pork spring rolls.
One of the only pho places I can think of that has the pickled onion on every table along with every other condiment imaginable.
Awesome pho!. Best pho I've had in a while. Unlike at other places, you get a decent serve of meat and noodles in your pho. Recommend!
Been hitting this joint since 4-5 years ago. Never disappoints me one bit. Pho is the best in Melbourne imo. The greens are fresh and delicious. No where have i tasted great pho. Tasted decent ones but not great as this.
Make sure you try their avocado smoothie..YUMMO!
Probably the best Pho I've ever had.. Without further ado please accept this comment as my official declaration as Pho Hien Saigon being (probably) the best Beef Phở in Melbourne. I've always bought my Beef Phở from Footscray and I've sampled different versions of the traditional Vietnamese beef soup around town. From Hawthorne to Brunswick. Melbourne CBD to South Melbourne. Let me assure you, I do not make this comment lightly. I fricken love Phở. Try it and find out!
Hold the onions. Nice Pho medium beef is cool and very filling tasty and quick service just love that.
Nice pho, low MSG. I like pho and other Vietnamese soups, but I'm starting to avoid them because I get a parched, headachey, sometimes gut-sick reaction from the monsodium glutamate that so many contain. Pho Hien has a reputation as one of the better pho houses in Sunshine, though, so I threw caution to the wind and tried a bowl before working a shift on the psych ward at Sunshine Hospital. I reckoned that if I wigged out from the MSG, my fellow nurses there could give me a jab with a syringe full of stuff that would bring me back to Earth.
Fortunately, four hours after eating it, I'm NOT suffering from an MSG OD, so it's good on that front! The medium-sized bowl for $9.50 was enough to satisfy a big eater like me. The beef, as top blogger Kenny Weir has noted, doesn't come out all that pink 'n rare. However, it cooks up enough in the broth so that you'll notice the flavour changing to beefier as you progress through the bowl. The soup base itself is adequately rich. I could sense that it had been simmering a while. Truth be told, though, it's hard for me to distinguish between one good pho soup base and another. The BAD ones, like the cheapo pho joint on Spencer Street outside Southern Cross Station, THEY stand out. But one good one is like other good ones, IMHO. This is one of the good ones.
Service was super-fast, Pho Hien wasn't overcrowded when I rocked up around 12:30 p.m. on a weekday, and the place is clean. However, when I want to test a Vietnamese resto's mettle in the future, I'm going to order dishes such as broken rice or vermicelli salad, where there's more room for individual innovation.
Best pho! So far pho hien is the best pho I've ever eaten. I always get the beef fillet and it never disappoints. Large fresh servings served with all the usual fresh herbs this pho is packed with yummy Vietnamese flavour the stock is Devine. I also order the pork spring rolls and prawn rice paper rolls - mainly because I love the dipping sauces served with them. Too tasty.
Best vermicelli noodles I've had in western Melbourne, the crispy pork, no. 22, is the best
The BEST Pho in Melbourne. This is the only place where the Pho that tastes as good as the Pho I had in Vietnam. In fact the entire restaurant is like being in Vietnam, the decor, the smells, everything. Don't get upset if they're herding you out the door once you've finished your meals, they have limited tables and many hungry customers!
It's a very limited menu but there's no reason to get anything other than noodle soup. You get proper breast chicken and the best soup stock I've tasted. Start off with a small, it's bigger than you'd think! (you could baptise a baby in the large!) I do wish they had lime instead of lemon though, I'd happily pay a little more for that.
Ive been to heaps of viet restaraunt, but this by far is sensational. Staff were kind, cheap and delicious food. Pho cost abt $10, their vietnamese ice coffee is a hit. Currently imo, best viet place in melbourne to eat.
Being someone who grew up eating Vietnamese food, I have to admit their pho is pretty damn good. Ask any Vietnamese person you know and if they tell you someone other than their mum/grandma makes nice pho, then you've got the real deal. Only complaint is, during a recent visit, waitress refused to take our orders several times and walked off without any explanation. Left after about 20 minutes of waiting and seeing other customers who came in after being tended to. We really wanted to enjoy the food there so we waited, such a shame that they don't even have competent staff.
Food was delicious cant wait to have Pho with brisket next time I'm in Sunshine
Entirely Delicious. This is my favourite Vietnamese resturant. Well balanced spring rolls, flavourful pho and my favourite, an enormous serving of rice vermicelli with pork. This is a salad sized bowl with carrot, cabbage, sprouts and other salad with rice vermicelli noodles, crushed peanuts and delicious grilled pork, with an accompayning fish sauce dressing. It is an absolute bargain for under $10.
With the serving bowls of pho, a large is literally the size of a large mixing bowl!! This is the best resturant on the Hampshire strip.
Great pho. Sundays only they make fantastic Banh xeo (pancake) Can Tho style. Absolutely delicious .
Yummy Pho!. Love the pho here! Flavoursome broth, plenty of thinly sliced beef and soft noodles. Also like the fact they have a jar of pickled onions on each table. Garnish with basil, bean shoots and chillies and it is heaven in a bowl :)
my fav is probably the sliced rare beef and brisket.
Our favorite pho. We come here all the time. Service is fast and food is good. Nice fresh ingredients every time!
Best Pho in Sunshine by a mile. Always clean and fresh ingredients.
Pretty good. All the standards are available here and are well done. We liked the crisp spring rolls and the phở was generous and filling. The menu seems shorter than the other Vietnamese restaurants in the street - but we haven't tried any of them yet. The place closes at 8pm during the week so don't leave your visit too late.
Good pho in Sunshine. Best pho in Sunshine area. Very quick service if you're after a satisfying quick fix. Bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) is pretty good as well. Recommendable for Sunshine locals and neighbouring areas.
My Local Viet fix : ). Best Viet food in Sunshine
Clean, friendly & great food. Great place with fantastic tasting food!
Try the Prawn Spring Rolls, the Pho and my favourite, the crispy chicken (ask for the tomato rice!).
The owner is nice and friendly too and seems to know all the regulars.
Had an early dinner at 4pm at Pho Hien Saigon today. Dad use to love coming here. Still one of our go to places for hot prawn spring rolls & beef ball pho soup. Always friendly, polite & quick service from staff.
One of the best Vietnamese Pho in Sunshine. Excellent flavour, great serve size. Friendly service, seated quickly and a large menu of options to choose from. Sliced beef & beef ball pho is my go to and it was delicious. This is a must try restaurant if you're in town.Delicious pho at a good price.
☆ Have been going to Pho Hien Saigon since I was a child. It's my go-to beef pho restaurant in Melbourne.
☆ Generous portions of pho noodles, flavourful broth and fresh toppings (Thai basil, lemon and chilli).
☆ Very quick and easy service. Never disappoints.
The best Pho Vietnamese restaurant west of Melbourne and been my favourite for 10 years, a must visit experience if your in Sunshine
Good tasting Pho (around Sunshine), great value with reasonable prices and really generous portions.
They don’t skimp on the sliced beef, unlike alot of other stores I’ve tried, they cut cost by using cheaper cuts and giving less but still increased their prices!
Back to this store, they are still using same cut as before and the amount seems more than before the pandemic (maybe due to their small price hike so they gave a little more?)
Only let down is service staff aren’t really attentive and attitude seems like they want to be elsewhere.
This was the large size of Pho.
It was so good.
