Just great service ...
Wow wow wow. What an experience. The staff are amazing and the chefs really put on a great show. It's a combo of amazing food and entertainment. Not a boring dinner that's for sure. Big thanks to our chef Dennis as well and all the other staff. You really made my birthday one of the best ones yet. Highly recommended!
Fabulous entertainment and cooking from Chef Jojean - we had a terrific meal and laughed and laughed! I'd definitely recommend Misono
We had such an amazing experience at Misono last night, thank you so much for making our first teppanyaki experience one to never forget. Such amazing entertainment and thank you for making my partners birthday so memorable! Our chef put a candle on our food and we sung happy birthday then when we ordered dessert the waiters came out singing happy birthday; we were not expecting this at all - thank you for all the effort and fun that went into last night misono.
Highly recommend!
Great place, our chef Arron was entertaining and produce a delicious dinner., our waitress Kate provided efficient and friendly service
Great food and atmosphere. We had our grandchildren 6 to 12 dine with us and their parents. They loved the involvement with the chef. Definitely a top pick for a special family event
Awesome night only made better with my chosen company! Beautiful food, attentive staff, easy earning 5 stars!
Had the most amazing night celebrating my husbands birthday with the family. Not only was the food delicious but our chef Perry was so entertaining. Our 2 daughters loved it, and havent stopped talking about it all night. Will def be back soon xx
My husband and I came to celebrate our anniversary last night having never been to Teppanyaki before.......wow wow wow!!! Our mind has been blown and we will be back again very soon! Thanks for a great night!!
Great entertainment. Food was delicious, and they easily catered for my dietary requirements (dairy free) so I didn't have to worry. Quite expensive but worth it for the variety of quality food!
YUM!! You won’t be disappointed! Our chef was super funny and engaging and the food was 5 Star. Can’t fault it, we had a great night!
When you’re the biggest Japanses lover 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️...👌😂
... it only makes sense to visit the largest teppanyaki restaurant in Australia, the Misono Japanese Steakhouse! Whaaaaaat? 🤤🥳🤩
Yes, friends! I had the pleasure to visit Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa and to try their Japanese restaurant! 🙏❤️ and what an experience it was!
Henry Bongay, is the Head Chef of this place and and himself and all the other chefs are a true talent! They makes the best performances just right in front of you and cook your food in front of you… with the best all time songs!
Seriously, it’s like watching a show! With snacks! The best kind of high quality and premium snacks! 🤩 they have a loooooong menu of traditional meals (slightly adapted due to COVID now), featuring meat, seafood and vegan/fegentarian friendly meals that are AMAZING and they give you the best show you can ever imagine. More than the food that is impeccable, your memories of this place will be of a place of laughter and fun!
Hands down to the Marriott team and to all the amazing service of Misono👏 They are going to have a short break for renovations, closing on Sunday 6th September and reopening in December 2020, so if you want to try them now maybe book a spontaneous gift to someone? 🤗 (actually the world needs more of this)
The whole hotel is absolutely stunning and they actually have a couple of restaurants that I would also love to visit. And stay there - definitely stay there! The decoration is flawless and it is an incredible feeling to walk in and just be inside that palace!
When you specifically enter the Misono restaurant area, the theme is red and abstract, with very gorgeous patterns! You’ll be promptly welcomed but the staff members and you’ll be taken into your dinning are! They have multiple rooms and show areas and obviously due to COVID they have even more precautions, so it was great to have extra space too!
You can pick from their famous banquets or if you want you can just have the fresh sushi options, but I would personally recommend,... a bit of both!
Here’s what we tried!
Misono Stars - a combination of different maki, of great size and absolutely gorgeous decoration! They sushi was extremely fresh and of great quality and it was quite filling! They don’t have that option anymore on the menu but it you are keen to they some of their different maki rolls (versus sticking to just one type) I would suggest asking one of the staff members if it can be done and I’m sure they’ll facilitate it! I resonantly loved it and I think they should bring it back as it gives variety to the meal!
Mixed Sashimi and Nigiri - we also had a combination of fresh sashimi and nigiri and WOW! I was stoked! The pieces were not only huge but again the decoration surpassed everything that you can imagine! It came with salmon, tuna, marekel and a few other types of fish that were delicious and decadent even! If you’re not a sushi fan... oh man, after this, you will!
Misono Delight Banquet and Misono Excellence Banquet - now, this was definitely the star of the show! And it sure was a show! So basically what happens is that the cook comes in front of you with some music and carrying his little trolley around with the food to be cooked. He set ups everything and then he starts making some moves with the blades and other cooking utensils that he uses! He plays with fire and he throw things into the air, makes artistic shapes and funny move and basically just gives you reasons to laugh and be impressed. Repeatedly! Yes, because when you think that he’s calming down and things are settling in, he pulls off another trick and you’ll be saying ‘wooooooooow’ again and again! All banquets are served with some miso soup, that was absolutely delicious and welcoming, a misono salad that is fresh and colourful, hibachi vegetables that are cooked right at the start of the cooking show, along with a prawn appetiser that makes your mouth water for more straight away, a a bowl of very good quality rice, cooked to perfection. There is the option of upgrading the rice to hibachi chicken fried rice and that one is cooked in front of you too (and the table next to us had a heart made with it!). This Delight banquet had chicken and large prawns and the Excellence had fillet steak, bug meat and large prawns and I would say that portion for one person, is very reasonable! Overall quite filling! The idea is to also eat while things are being cooked, and also not get brunt with excitement 😂 I loved the seafood more than the meat but just because I am a more plant based and seafood lover. You have the option to upgrade the fillet steak in some of the banquets to wagyu beef if you want. Overall, definitely recommend for not only the show but also the quality of the food! And if you have any dietary requirements, don’t worry, just tell them at the start and they’ll be more than happy to make adjustments for you do have a good experience!
Banana Tempura - for dessert my friend decided to have what seemed to be the best banana tempura treat with some macadamia icecream on the side and caramel sauce. I wish they could have a vegan alternative to the icecream since I felt very jealous (😂) and it wouldn’t be much harder to have that extra option on the menu. They do have fruit salad as a dessert option too but I mean, who wants to pick that when you have such a great decadent option fighting it 😂
Absolutely recommend as a great experience and for the amazing food! You’ll certainly have a good time, seeing everyone laughing and you won’t be able to stop laughing too! It would be great as a celebration or for date!
And next time I would absolutely love to stay at the Marriott and see how incredible their other services are!
Two of us ordered the Cherry Blossom teppanyaki set which came with wagyu steak, prawns, bug meat, scallops and fish in a bag together with chicken fried rice, vegetables, miso soup and salad. Everything tasted fresh and nice, my favourite was the fish in bag, flavours and texture great. The fried rice was tasty. The salad was fresh and dressing nice and tangy. One in the group was vegetarian and it was nice to see that they cooked her meal first before the meat to avoid cross contamination. The atmosphere was very lively, great for groups. It was a bit pricey, hence the four stars.
Situated in the Surfers Paradise Marriott, this Japanese steakhouse operates as a fun entertaining teppanyaki restaurant.
We came as a small group and ended up sharing a teppanyaki with another couple and their child. I noticed mostly large groups having a whole teppanyaki for themselves. It’s a really enjoyable watching the theatre of your meal being cooked. It keeps the kids and adults totally involved in an upbeat atmosphere.
We visited on a Wednesday where they offer a ‘Why Cook Wednesday’ menu for a special of $45 per person. It excellent value as it included miso soup, misono salad, hibachi vegetables, and steam rice. There is a choice between ‘Bonsai’ which had fillet steak, chicken, and salmon or ‘Samurai which had fillet steak, chicken, and scallops. Our group split in the middle for the options. You could also upgrade your steam rice to hibachi chicken rice for $8.50 pp and it’s totally worth it! The other optional extra was a prawn appetizer for $3 pp but we didn’t take it but the other couple on the table did. The chef cooking for us was entertaining. He certainly made us work for some of our food including the egg omelette made for the rice as well as some meat. The food itself is really good quality and was surprised at the quantity you get for the price you paid. I especially enjoyed the fillet steak in teriyaki sauce and hibachi chicken rice.
Finished off with a Banana Tempura. The serving was large so struggled to finish it off after such a large meal but I managed to. I loved the crisp batter on the outside and the soft banana in the middle. Served with a scoop of macadamia ice cream and choice of sauce (I chose caramel), it was a decadent way to end my meal.
The concept of teppanyaki would be a popular choice for a large group of friends or family. Don’t be put off if coming in as a smaller group as still heaps of joy to be had.

This restaurant could have gotten 5 stars the food was excellent and it was entertaining as well definitely worth the money only thing we felt deceived and the price it didn’t include gst apparently only was shown on the bill at the end
Hadn’t been here in years but gave it a go because we love teppanyaki. The food was of extremely high quality and everything tasted great. My only thing was that one person on our table was given normal steak when they ordered wagyu and the wagyu was given to someone else before it was realised. Wasn’t a big deal though, we all enjoyed the food, drinks and entertainment
Perry made the night, he deserves a pay rise! Legend! Food is great especially the seafood. The big meat worths a try. fried rice was nice too.
Great, friendly and attentive staff! The food was amazing and we left so full due to eating everything on the plate as it was too delicious to leave! Stand out was the fried rice. Great diverse restaurant that is fun for the family but also great for a night out with the girls or guys, or even something more special with that number 1 person!
Had a Scoopon dinner at this place around two weeks' ago. Not the first time to have teppanyaki so expected to have dinner with a group of people and most of them came for celebration of birthday or anniversary. Arranged to have dinner at the early section and we were requested to be arrived at 5:00pm, which left me a slightly hard feeling since 5:00pm is very early for normal dinner time. However the actual teppanyaki did not start not until after six even everybody arrived punctually. Prior to the arrival of the chef, waitress took orders for individual diners in rush and the same manner in serving drinks. Besides the Imperial banquets, we also asked for an appetizer of sashimi platter to share. Well, the sashimi really came in a short time, qualities and varieties of seafood was acceptable. Then next came the show running by the teppanyaki chef. Honestly, the chef did his job really well with sophisticated skill and impressive theatre, particularly , I appreciate how he wrote the "Happy Birthday" in front of the Birthday person with his upside down and lateral inverted writing. This skill must take a long time to practice. Well, when my focus turned to the food quality and taste, they were varied. However, I challenged the grade of Wagyu that we had. I could not get any sense of wagyu taste nor the texture! Overall, Misono is still a good place for celebration purpose but I suggest you to go for late section which starts at eight, then you can really sit down and enjoy your dinner rather than rush, rush and rush.
We went there for a birthday dinner and it was delicious 5 out of 5 but a little expensive mostly worth it. The chef was fun and great At what he did he was funny and was entertaining to watch.
We dinned here on the 7/1/17 at 7pm
The food was very good and our Chef very entertaining. Great for the family as the kids were entertained. Friendly staff and a fantastic night a must if you visit the Gold Coast.
Oh my what a great night with lots of fun and laughs. Food was great and the chefs were very funny and entertaining. Worth trying this restaurant if visiting Gold Coast.
Awesome dinner, fantastic show! Loved every bit of dinning experience at this place!
Yummy food, so much laughters, good customer service. 👍 👍 👍
Located at the bottom of the Marriott, Misono is a classy and fun-filled Teppanyaki venue that blew my mind. Perry was our chef and was full of energy, character and engaged with us on a level that was just so impressive.
We ordered both the Henry's Choice and Cherry Blossom banquets, and there were so many standouts. Whilst it definitely isn't cheap (60-85 depending on your choice), you will be left feeling very content - the steak was so tender and filled with flavour, while the fish in a bag, king prawns, chicken teriyaki were all top-notch. They even treated our friend to a free dessert and a pumping love-heart fried rice for her birthday - amazing night!
If you want an entertaining, delicious and just straight up fun dinner this is you place! The waygu beef is perfect as well as the openers like the fried rice and bbq zucchini and onions! Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves a good teppanyaki dinner
Misono offers an entertaining and truly delicious Teppanyaki experience. We loved every aspect, from the set up, very attentive and lovely staff, to the delicious food prepared as part of Cherry Blossom Teppanyaki banquet. Cherry Blossom is perfect for Teppanyaki virgins as it offers a great variety to savour from. We absolutely loved Misono and highly recommend it!
Slick Chef Extraordinaire. Gangster Of Food.

Cool restaurant experience from the moment you walk through the door. Decorative interior with a great buzzing atmosphere. Food is on point, no need to say anymore. Check it out for yourself, you won't regret it!
What an awesome dinner! Aaron was hilarious, the food was delicious (and so much of it!) and they were great with different allergies and food requirements. Great value and a great night out!
I really enjoyed the teppanyaki experience. It was so much fun with the chef doing tricks and making everyone laugh. However the food wasn't really a wow factor. Could have been better. But worth a try.
Great hospitality and entertainment but the food was not up to the hype. The cocktails were grate. Our teppanyaki chef was highly skilled ;).
The staff was very kind and friendly. We had to call for one banquet per person as per hotel policy they did not let us share it. We wanted to just order for one as we did not have the appetite for one whole thing by one person. However it is a really different experience as the chef prepares the food right in front of you. He also did some amusing stunts with his knife to make the experience more entertaining. Also had the liquid dessert which was a mix of tobleorone kahlua baileys etc..was extremely delicious
Pretty good. Not the most creative or entertaining teppanyaki I've done. Good skills and the food was very tasty. It really needed some unscripted charisma
Wow wow wow
What a fun entertaining place
Food is absolutely sensational
Had the bonsai banquet and came out so full of food
Drinks food everything well priced
Came away thinking this is best teppanyaki restaurant outside of Japan
“It’s not just about the food, of course, it’s about the show,” the Main Squeeze puts in his two cents worth. He means the ‘people’ aspect of the dining experience, the meet and greet, feeling special because the staff know your name, even preferential treatment; in short, the ‘theatre’ of food!... We’re amply entertained with drinks, salad, complimentary sushi and karaage to stave off the hunger, and then it’s our turn to watch the grill’s baptism of fire and the chef’s antics. (You can order sushi or sashimi from the kitchen but, let’s face it, the real action is watching the teppan chef prepare your food.) This is participatory dining. The ‘elegance and peace’ of the journey to the teppan is soon forgotten as our chef introduces himself and immediately begins work. He’s an enthusiastic entertainer, taught his skills in true ‘Misono style’ by Head Chef Henry Bongay, who’s steered the restaurant for over twenty years. It’s a nightly routine: making flaming volcanoes out of onion rings, juggling kitchen implements, shooting bits of prawn or egg into willing mouths or even down the nearest cleavage, the frivolity accompanied by a constant babble of quick-witted remarks and jokes. The table has truly warmed up, guests interacting and joining in the frivolity.
Full of flavour, fun, and flair...this is everything you expect from a teppanyaki bar. The food is fresh, the staff attentive. Great night out for a group up for a bit of fun.
Now called Misono, this teppanyaki restaurant is one of the best on the Gold Coast.
Great atmosphere is created by the staff and table chef, quite a lot of theatre goes into this dinning experience and our chef hit the mark.
Great food and produce, all cooked very well. We had the land and sea, of which was very tasty. I do miss the satay dipping sauce though, why would you drop that one and leave only 2 remaining?
Ambience is fantastic, the music and noise creates an electric dinning atmosphere. Certainly not an environment for an intimate dinner for 2.
My only negative comment is the cleanliness of the surroundings. Cooking and food areas are clean, but the walls are a disgrace in some areas.
Keep an eye out for specials, they run them periodically with the Marriott and on their own.
We'll be back
Absolutely amazing .. Probably the best dining experience i have ever had . Great food , friendly staff and a spectacular show all in one . A must do for gold coast dining .
I stayed at the Marriott with my wife, so decided to try Benihana. It was a good decision. The food was fantastic and the service was better. We had Kernan as our chef and he put in the extra effort - great showman who made it a fun night. Wednesday night special was an added bonus. I highly recommend Benihana.
Had the best experience with my partner for our anniversary. We had a wonderful time and the food was great!! Everything was cooked to perfection and the show was wonderful. Jojean was our chef and deserves a shout out for how incredible he is at his job. Such a fun night out that's worth taking friends or family to. Be prepared to starve a little at the beginning since it is communal dining and you must wait for all of your different groups so you can all order at the same time for a great show. Came in at 8 and probably didn't get first course until about 830.
Fun, dinner and a show. Went there for my partners 21st and everyone had a great time. Enjoyed the food along with the flamboyant little oriental man singing 'do the locomotion'.
Dined on Saturday night at the 8pm sitting. But we never got any food or real service until 9pm. Not sure what happened as have dined here before and service was much better. At the end of the meal we grew fed up waiting for another drink so left. Chefs and experience are fun. Food is delicious and you get huge portions. Great for a group of people to dine out.
What a great night!. I always wanted to try teppanyaki in my Gold Coast trip. Read some restaurant reviews then I decided on Benihana because they are doing a special promotion on Wednesday nights. If the restaurant wasn't good we wouldn't lose much as it's only $39 pp including a glass of wine. I then made a booking online and asked if we could share two adult banquet with my 10 year old daughter since the promotion was priced per person. To my surprise, i got a phone call from them within 5 minutes after I placed my booking online. Very efficient! Back the food, loved it. It was perfectly cooked. The chef was entertaining. Lots of surprise elements. We had a great time. Can't fault it! I even recommended it to the hotel manager of where I stayed as everyone in Gold Coast should really try this.
Love this place. The food is great but their funny and talented chefs are the best. Will come back again
This place is really good, unlike Kamikaze restaurants these chefs take pride in what they do and make sure you have a great time observing them do their thing. Be prepared to get hit in the face with a prawn or some egg. I had the wagyu and lobster tail - AWESOME! This place is a great experience. The main I had was about $79. A bit heavy on the price tag but tasted great. I'll be back.
Lots of fun. It was my first time at tepanyaki. I really enjoyed it, the experience was great the chef was entertaining. The food were quite good but the whole experience made it so much better. A little bit pricey but worth every penny.
I can never fault the food. Always amazing & very filling! It's my favourite tepanyaki bar on the GC! Wednesday night specials are fantastic value!
Spoil yourself. Fantastic food, pleasant and modern environment. It is pricey but you get what you pay for. The seafood is fresh and cooked to perfection. The chefs put on a show for you (well worth the money there alone!) highly recommended, have been there twice and will go again. If you haven't experienced this kind of eating atmosphere then you are not a real foodie!!
Japanese at its best. Loved this restaurant. It was everything we expected and more. The food was delicious and very filling. Very satisfied with all aspects of the restaurant. My two girls (aged 4 & 6) said it was the best restaurant they've been too. Although still at tender ages to appreciate Japanese food, they loved the entertaiment side of things. Would definitely recommend.
We were promptly greeted by 'our waiter' Nobu. The complementary cocktail sample was a hit - a delicious Benihana specialty made with Sake. Our chef Perry was impressive - much experience and enthusiasm. The food was authentic, delicious and fantastic value - try the $59 teppanyaki banquets. The traditional teppankaki games and sing-a-longs were much enjoyed. Will be back!
The food was fantastic; very fresh and authentic. The service was really good too. It was a fun and friendly atmosphere! Would strongly recommend this place! The specialty cocktail was great too! Cannot speak highly enough of it!
Fun and Yum. Great time to be had at Benihana. Can spend a little or a lot, depending on what you choose. Definitely good quality ingredients. Cooked to order in front of you. Be prepared for some fun, you may have some food thrown at you to catch (or miss) in your mouth. Very talented chefs. Great night out for a group rather than intimate meal for two.
Consistently good. Been here a few times and always exciting when they take you to a table with and individual Samurai chef on each table. they are so entertaining always a great place to take friends out for the night.
Great Night. Our Chef Kenan was great, one of the best nights out. Take your friends
Pricey, but entertaining. A definate must try and an old favorite of mine. Perfect for people with kids.
It was good they were able to squeeze us in at late notice since we were on holiday. good cocktails and fun times as the chefs were entertaining.. shame i couldnt catch the prawn!
Fun. Kids had a ball & ate well....crazy fun chef!
Such a fun place for family and great fresh food. Kids had blast, no worry about them getting bored. We used to go to one back in states. Only wished chefs were actually Japenese... Lol
Dynamite atmosphere. We love teppanyaki, but if there is avstyle of food that can polarise from excellent to atrocious, it is a teppanyaki experience. This is one of the rippers!! Food was awesome and a reasonable price - no wonder it was so busy. Service still excellent!!
This restaurant fits every brief of a Gold Coast restaurant. It's quirky, fun, not overly expensive, and most importantly, the food was delicious! It's a great dinner destination for a big group of friends and family. Imagine the chef flicking prawns around the table while your friends trying to catch them with their mouth or flying omelette. Kids love it. The Seafood was very very fresh and very tasty. My favourite of the night was scallop. It was cooked to perfection. The chef was very skilled with sense of humour. Awesome night, great dining experience. Recommend for any occasions.
Great atmosphere and beautiful, fresh food. Very fun place to take friends. Cocktails are also delicious!!!
Atmosphere and engagement of diners was tops. Although reknowned for the entertaining tepanyaki experience, the sashimi was also delicious and fresh. Good night out with friends.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had!!
Fun experience. Great atmosphere and so very entertaining watching the talented chefs do their stuff.
Service is good, however we had quite a wait for drinks.
Loved the food.
Highly recommended for a special occasion. Our family took my mother there for her 70th (her first experience of eating Japanese food) and she loved it!
Fun entertaining dining experience, food was fresh and well cooked. drink service perhaps a little slow and staff need to learn how to pour a beer but otherwise a great experience
Great food, great service, great cocktails. If you don't go as a group of 6+ you'll probably have to share a table with strangers, so get friendly. Catching food with your mouth is also likely. Awesome prawns.
... It is lively entertainment and before too long my cheeks are sore from laughing, smiling and cheering!
