A must visit when you’re visiting Surfers Paradise. Located on the beach front above the shopping precinct, hurricane’s grill & bar was like an oasis. From the minute you walked in the door, the busy but organised atmosphere hit you. Every aspect was on point including the signature plate of ribs - thankfully I followed our waitresses recommendation and had the ‘half’ serve (I think) which was still hefty going.
Washed down with a couple of mojito’s, I found myself in meat heaven
Thanks hurricane’s for a cracker night
Great atmosphere and location. The staff are very accommodating and the food is to die for.
Compliments to the chefs
Definitely recommend trying the ribs or steaks & highly recommend people to visit if you haven’t yet.
We will be back again & again.
Amazing experience! Service was great, food was even better. So tasty! Didn't have to wait long to be seated or for the food! Highly recommend this place!
Excellent food & service, the burger was to die for & and grilled chicken salad was huge. A little on the expensive side but was made up for with quality food.

Service on point. The main thing is the main thing: Steak, beef ribs and prawns. Australian wines have come of age. My grill house worlds away from home!
Great service, great atmosphere and very understanding and helpful even when I knocked over a very nice drop of red wine . Deff recommend for all lovers of food
Early dinner at 6pm so there wasnt much of a crowd. Meal arrived in a very timely manner and did not disappoint! The serving was huge and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back
From Melbourne and I will class this restaurant in the same bracket as Squires Loft which as I'm sure most people will know is the premium steak restaurant in Melbourne, our meals were beautiful and cooked to perfection service was quick friendly and spot on would highly recommend. Will put my full review on Trip Advisor.
The pork full rack of ribs a beyond huge and so tasty, wife had a delicious burger. The drinks went down nice and the staff were classy. I will tell my friends and family and when I return to surfers paradise I will return to this place for sure!!!!
Throwback to those pre-Covid-19 days in sunny Gold Coast 🌞

Beef ribs & Pork ribs (These ribs are their signatures!)

A prime location with beachfront views 🌊 What an amazing experience whilst enjoying my ribs 😌 & on top of that, lovely staff and attentive service! Surprisingly these ribs weren’t as flavourful as the ones I’ve had in Sydney’s hurricanes, the view makes up for it though. If I had to choose, I’d prefer the beef ribs over pork ribs. Price is on the steep side, however it was on our list given we were on a short vacation in Gold Coast.
Will I go back and overall score: ❌⭕️💯
Yes - 8/10
Beef ribs are the go to dish on this menu. Cooked and charred beautifully with a zesty bbq sauce. Would have been perfect if a bit more meat was left on the ribs, I feel they’re a bit too trimmed and some of the thick meaty part of the ribs is missing. Otherwise one of the best beef ribs in terms of taste that you will find.
...oh and the garlic bread is also amazing
Friendly staffs, great food.... like a dream, and the price is also within the same range compared to steak house around it. We bought food for two, but the size we got actually enough to feed a family of four.
I have been here four years ago, and today I come to have the same meal just as four years ago. Still the same yum lamb ribs and beef, as well as the prawn. But I prefer natural oyster, I tired both natural and the third choice of oyster, the third choice of oyster in menu were oysters roasted by cheese. They are not juicy and sweat as the natural ones. And sweat potato is great.
Great burgers. Side orders and general menu are a little disjointed and confusing. Was hoping for some more interesting & robust surf n turf speciality menu items.
Good for kids.
Probably 4.5/5
Spot on steaks, well cooked and a nice little basting made it super tasty. Tremendous pepper sauce and chips to go with it.
Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Rib heaven. I haven't been to Sydney on years but this takes me right back to Bondi. I don't think I've had ribs as good as this since. And I'm so glad that it's translated very across the border North. That same sweet basting marinade over the full rack of pork ribs, charred over a smoking hot grill. I lather more because I'm a junkie for it as I tuck in with one hand. Highly primative but a necessary part of the experience. I'm glad some things don't change.
Good steak house near the beach. The sea view was great and the atmosphere was chilling. I had T-bone steak and baked potato with mushroom sauce (extra 3 dollars) The portion of steak was huge. I even took away the left. The baked potato was delicious so was the sour cream sauce. The original flavor of steak was good enough. The meat was tender and juicy No need for extra sauces. I tried mushroom sauce it was creamy but average.
First time trying this place out on holidays. The place is massive and the atmosphere is very chill and friendly. Staff were everywhere and we're very attentive. Beach views were amazing, and then there's the food. It is simply irresistible! We ordered the platter with the 3 different ribs and thought it might be too much for the 2 of us but we done pretty well. The pork ribs were amazing and fell right off the bone, the lamb ribs were juicy also. I wasn't a great fan of the beef but the other 2 definitely made up for it. The baked potato was delicious and salad was great also. Sangria was spot on. Overall amazing experience. I hope they're planning on opening in Melbourne!
It's a very popular chain restaurant. We had beef rib and salad, and they were enough for us.
The location was really conveniently opposite to the beach. The parking might be a little challenging.
My first dinner at Surfers Paradise and was truly taken to paradise with the food here. We had the beef burger and the beef rack... Yummy finger licking good... A special kudos to the staff who willing took us in even though it was their closing time and did not rush us at all..... A must visit if you are a grill buff...
Happy Eating!!!
We ordered a full rack of ribs, half beef and half lamb, both were delicious , the meat was cooked perfectly and just fell off the bone. The seafood salad was also very nice with very generous portions of seafood. Highly recommend this place.

If you want meat, meat is what you will find at Hurricanes. Ribs were cooked well with nice basting, the sides were a good accompaniment for the mains and service was exceptional for a table of 10
this place probably has the nicest ribs and steak but its so expensive! as everyone else complains the price is too high for the combo you guys offer. should be around the $40 mark not $65!!!! then when you had on drinks your almost at $100 for one person... ridiculous
Nice view and the food was absolutely amazing! The price is fair and everything is just perfect. Don’t forget to book your table before hand :)
Steaks are juicy and very fulfilling. I really like fried calamari and chips. The location is fantastic with a great view. FYI, be careful of those birds. They may steal your food.
Great spot overlooking surfers paradise. Food and staff were phenomenal. Everything was cooked perfectly. Recommended for a fancy dinner date
Visited on a Friday evening and was a little apprehensive as we didn’t manage to make a reservation, the place was busy but we were seated pretty quickly. We had mussels in creamy garlic white wine sauce and it was excellent - except that portion was small. For mains, we Ordered their premium steaks (sirloin 200g from I forgot where in NSW) and my husband had the rib eye (350g). They were one of the best steaks I’ve had in awhile! Very juicy and done to perfection. I didn’t even need sauce on mine although my husband liked his pepper sauce. The sweet potato fries is excellent. Pretty well-sized kids meals as well and very happy that they accommodated changing chips to mash for my younger kid. Overall, love our food and experience there! Love the location that we could see out to the sea too!
The staff were friendly . The steak and potato was nice . Perhaps there could have been some vegetables on the plate too . They did forget to bring the soft drink that I ordered so I cancelled it Otherwise all good .
Hurricane’s Grill & Bar is an iconic restaurant in the Gold Coast! My favourite dishes would be the pork ribs and seafood platter. The restaurant is situated in a good location, looking out onto the beach. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back to try more dishes on the menu. Overall I had a great experience 👌
Great to see that the food quality is still the same, if not higher, to the Hurricane’s that I had in Sydney 15 years ago. Both pork and beef ribs were succulent and fall-off-the bone; not sure what they put in the basting but it was sooo good! Do try the crispy sweet potato chips. They were yum!
Family-friendly and the ambience is modern. The sea view was amazing. We came for dinner and it was quite a windy day so the windows were closed. Gotta try for lunch next time!
The service was friendly and fast. Can’t fault them. Make sure you’ve got the whole party with you otherwise they will make you wait at the bar until you’re shown to your table.
A lovely place for a BBQ fix with an awesome view. We absolutely loved the tomahawk steak and the ribs were tender and flavoursome. Sweet potato chips are always a favourite of mine and couldn't fault those - crispy and lightly salted. With a Canadian club on the side, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal!
Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5
Two words: food coma. We ordered a full lamb rack, the rump steak and beef ribs combo with two drinks to share and were VERY full by the end of the night. Ribs were cooked to perfection: juicy and right off the bone. The sauce was also flavoursome and elevated the dishes. The steak was juicy and cooked as requested, medium rare. We also enjoyed the sides would recommend the baked potato to others.
Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Food arrived quickly and staff were professional and polite. We were also fortunate enough to be seated by window and had a great seaside view.
Price: 🌟🌟🌟.5
A little pricier but you pay for the quality of the meals and Hurricane's is yet to disappoint.
(Overall: ????.5)
Been here once during my stay in Gold Coast. The lamb ribs were so amazing. The grill their meats so well. The whole table was satisfied and left happy.

A family favourite that always delivers 😁 The Surfers branch is perhaps the best version from this group - great space, awesome view, excellent food and service. Matt (Manager) made us feel welcome, even with the hustle and bustle of the Commonwealth Games 👍🏽
Hurricane’s is one of our staples when staying at Surfers Paradise. The food tastes so fresh! I had the seafood salad and my dining partner had the half rack of ribs. Both delicious and plentiful!
Usually love coming to hurricanes on my annual summer holiday to the GC but sadly this year I was quite disappointed with the quality of the food. Our beef ribs were tough and hard to chew, usually melting in your mouth and falling off the bone. I hope it was just one bad night and that when I return next year, it will be back to the great quality it used to be.
Pleasant bustling restaurant. The ribs are probably as good as you will get anywhere and are highly recommended. Pricing is a bit high but a rack can easily be shared. Despite it being busy the service was good.
Great family restaurant we didn’t realise how big the place really was, if you are planning on dinning in during School holidays my advice is to book a table for you will wait in line for a table during this time. The food was beautiful the service was good fast paced, looking forward to coming back again to try the seafood platter 😁
Hurricane’s is a great restaurant, really gut in the heart of Surfers Paradise, Cavil Avenue. Delicious steak and seafood, service is fast and staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately they do change the menu regularly and sometimes your favourites aren’t there the next time you go. The view is magnificent over the esplanade and the glistening ocean.
Since I’ve been to the hurricane grill in Sydney I’ve been wanting to try it in Gold Coast as well, just to see whether it’ll be just as good.
I Ordered the lamb ribs and steak combo and thought it was not bad, but I prefer the pork ribs I had in Sydney more. I’m not too sure whether the pork ribs were just nicer or Sydney hurricane grill made it better. However it was still nice :)
Great views of the beach, nice atmosphere and brilliant bar staff. One of my favourite places to eat ribs - the sauce is unreal. I'd prefer it if some sides were included with the meal - instead of another added cost. Overall, nice place for a celebratory dinner, or work lunch.
We had a high expectation for this place, as we lovee the one at Sydney. Came around 5.30pm and was seated by the window. The view was nice, and the food was delish 🤤 such an amazing experience. Ribs was exceptional, but what surprised me was the garlic prawn. So so juicy and fresh! One of the best prawn ive ever had. Definitely recommended!
by far the best ribs on the gold coast and an awesome atmosphere!! the only let down was the unexperienced staff. When i go i always order the ribs and chicken combo and have realized that the price has increased but still get it as it is the best thing there is at the restaurant. staff need more training and more communication skills
Amazing bar staff, in particular the blonde lady that almost became our photographer! Good quality food which satisfied all 20 guests, decent quality fillet steak. Atmosphere was also nice with great views by the beach
The BEST ribs I have ever had. The BBQ sauce they use is to die for. Highly recommend the full rack of ribs. You will leave extremely full and satisfied. Can't wait to go back.
I am definately a meat lover and I can say that this one of my favorite steak house on the Gold Coast. Value for money, staff is trained for a quality of service and definately would come again
Holidays in Gold coast, seek for seafood on our last night here. Great food they've got. I ordered seafood platter and my friend ordered the chicken&pork ribs and they were delicious. Will definitely come again in the next visitt:))
Moving my food adventures to sunny interstate! The location of this place overlooking the horizon of the beach is phenomenon, especially the sunset *gasps* 😍! The steak here is cooked to perfection and the mushroom sauce was to die for! However the pork ribs and chips were a bit dry and service was a bit slow but nonetheless amazing scenery, views and a big juicy steak is a big tick in my books. First ever dinner in the Gold Coast I'd say was successful!
A pretty underwhelming experience. Granted, the food was tasty but the portions were small for the prices. I had previously visited the branch in Sydney and I was disappointed by the difference in standards. I probably wouldn't come here again.
Best ribs i ever had!!!! I am the Ribs lover!!! I been trying to find the best and i found it!!!! My friend from sydney recommended this restaurant coz she never failed so far and i really appreciate to my friend It would be good if they dont charge for the sauce for steak!!!!!! But the beef and pork ribs are winner so i still give them 5 out of 5!!!
I received very good customer service! Great food! Best ribs by far I have tasted since being in Australia! I would definitely come back again!
Fantastic first time here. Our waitress Jasmine only started here a few weeks ago but her service was above par!
Can't wait to go back again.
❤ Seafood and steak nights!!❤
🥂Mussels: white wine, cream & garlic sauce ($19). 🐑Slow cooked lamb shoulder: served with chips with fennel & red wine jus ($38). 🐷Ribs: Pork- Full rack ($56)🐽.
🐄Premium steak- Pinnade NSW- Grass fed; T-bone [650grams] ($55)🐮
👍🏻Lovely table service.
👍🏻Friendly staff.
👍🏻Beautiful interior design.
👍🏻Food was absolutely gorgeous!!
👍🏻Beachside view.
👍🏻Great place to have a social gathering with friends!!
👍🏻Busy restaurant, remember to book ahead of time ☺
Went there for dinner on a quick stop over in ool. Love the vibe and the ambience. The food was quickly served and the wait staff was very helpful and knowledgeable! Def going to come back soon!
We really enjoyed our meals, the produce was very fresh and tasty and the restaurant was very busy. Our meals came out in a reasonable time frame. The staff were friendly had wonderful customer service. We will definitely visit again.
Oh yes. This place still is the bees knees on the coast and it never disappoints.
Always make a booking. Don't be a hero and just rock up as you'll be waiting a while.
Love the interior here it's the best one - I also ad at the one in the newer mall off Cavill too.
Great views of the ocean and staff are super friendly. Drinks are perfect and a bit exxy but it's the vibe that matters here.
Beef ribs oh my gosh YUM and with the chicken it was $52? And it's a bargain that can feed two easily. But we were fatties that day and got the beef burger too. So good. So fresh.
With a couple of drinks it was $100. Well priced and very tasty. But it's a dinner place to me as too exxy for a lunch especially $27 for a salad. But the flavours here are incredible.
Best lamb cutlets and the steak was great too!
Service was quick and friendly.
The atmosphere is casual and family friendly.
A pleasant surprise
Service - the waitresses were cheerful and attentive. Food did not take long for it to come out. Male waiter did not look happy to be there.
Food - ribs were delicious and felt worth the price. Full rack is perfect amount for two hungry guys. Side fries were disappointing. Not sure how such a nice place could serve such average chips! But . overall was very happy with what was served.
Atmosphere - excellent view of the beach and the happenings below.
Would return.
DO: The pork ribs obviously. But if you're really hungry, try the beef and lamb ribs too. The steaks, garlic bread and burger were also a hit.
DON'T: Like fries? The sweet potato fries are a great healthier option.
TIP: Sit by the balcony and enjoy the sensational views. Oh, also wear the bib hahah.
Went to hurricanes for the first time with my husband, mum and aunty. We ordered an entree of garlic prawns and garlic bread. The garlic bread was great but the prawns were swimming in oil and not very garlicky. They were also crunchy? They weren't that bad but I wouldn't get them again. For mains we ordered two meals to share. My mum and aunt ordered a beef burger and sweet potato fries. Hubby and I ordered the half bbq chicken and pork ribs combo. Lucky we didn't order any more! Both meals were huge and tasty! Lots of sauce on the ribs which is always preferred. Rib and chicken meat was soft, juicy and tender! Service was great and the location was also nice with views of the beach. We definitely would go back again.
Good place good food good view.. I recommend this place.. actually I've tried hurricane in Jakarta, the taste is most likely same but I feel a Lil bit better in surfer paradise, maybe because of the environment and the weather is nicer.
Was my first time here as well as my first tim in Gold Coast. Unfortunately no pictures of food, simply because I was occupied by the waiters. Too bad I didn't catch his name but the service got it all for me. Food was superb, I had the lamb cutlet which was cooked PERFECTLY. Friends had the spicy beef sausage and mash, and the ribs combo. I highly recommend this place, it's a whole package that I got here - food and service was spot on. Will definitely be back!
Went here yesterday. I order Pork ribs and they were delicious. The food came out fast and the service is amazing. Highly recommend this place
To anyone
Incredible. Came here for a birthday lunch, we both had burgers, regular and smoky beef. They were delicious, one of the best burgers I've ever had and my partner agrees. Also had garlic & herb mayo accompanying some chips. Yum! We also loved the interior decor of the restaurant, as well as the atmosphere, music and the staff were awesome. Definitely coming back here, I'm keen to try their ribs.
Visited 3 times this visit. Certainly the best steak in Surfers. Done perfectly as asked each time. Not cheap and sometimes gets very busy but I have always left very satisfied.
Previous review
Surprisingly very enjoyable. Bottle of Shiraz, TBone and chips with good friends and family on a Friday afternoon for lunch.... Clean, service very good, steaks done to perfection. Perfect vista to the beach. Family friendly. There is not much in this part of the world so because it is good I have given a higher rating than home (Melbourne). Will be a regular on our GC visits.
Had their ribs and and steak which were both accompanied with baked potatoes. The ribs were aromatic and charred grilled to perfection! It was coated with the flavoursome gravy/sauce and contained the smoky flavours of the grill. The meat was succulent and and fall-off-the-bone tender. The ribs were gigantic in size, much larger than any other ribs that I have had seen in other restaurants. Moreover, the steak was decent while the mushroom sauce was rich and creamy! This was hands down one of the best ribs that I have had tasted!
After missing out on trying the famous Hurricane's Grill at Sydney, I knew I had to dine here during our recent Gold Coast trip. Surprisingly the decor of this joint was really classy, I was expecting a sort of "All you can eat" style setting with ribs being the centre of the attraction.
As my fiancee is not a beef fan, we wanted a pork/ lamb rib combo which was unavailable in the menu. However the waiter was nice enough to offer this option to us at quite a competitive price. (Great service: ticked.) We also requested for bibs to embrace the full HG experience. Am not particularly obsessed with Ribs but i must say they were quite good even though the pork and lamb ribs tasted pretty similar to me.
The first time I went to Hurricane's Grill the experience was amazing. The ribs were absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, the sauce was lovely. The oysters were fresh and the Mediterranean salad was tasty. Service was a bit slow because it was a very busy night but it was worth the wait. However, the second time I returned it didn't turn out so well. The chicken we ordered was dry, the pork ribs weren't as tasty as before, I was disappointed. Overall, not a bad place to dine in, especially if you love ribs.
Good food and good atmosphere! Booking is essential as we did and managed to skip the queue. Lots of tourists present and adds to the holiday vibes. Food came out very quick, entrees within 5 minutes of ordering and mains followed fairly quickly. Service was good and very hospitable! Would recommend!
We ordered a full size pork rib and whole burramundi fish. The pork ribs are amazing. I especially like the sauce. One thing disappointing was no one wanted to give us our bill! We had to go to the counter without a bill.
Something better than casual dining in the heard of surfers
Watch Surfers paradise beach in higher position, u can hear the beach waves from here! Great food as usual, and great atmosphere and service. Juicy chicken in the chicken Caesar salad. My daughter had a junior burger, good quality meat which isnt always the case for kids meal! Will come back with my fussy husband!
Service was excellent, we got a seat at the bar, they created cocktails while we waited to get a table. Food was delivered quickly and was pretty tasty, plenty of it also. A busy place and a good honest feed.
We are a regular at Hurricane in Sydney so very happy to find it's here in GC. We haven't found anywhere else do the best Pork Ribs than Hurricane. We had a full rack pork ribs,Caesar salad & onion rings (a bit bland as it need a bit of salt) which tasted pretty the same as Sydney ones.Service was ok but they could do a bit more such as offer water without asking(doesnt hurt if we later wanted to order something else to drink), salt &pepper on table so we can seasoning without asking n waiting for it.The waitress didnt offer our complimentary rolls &butter while u wait for the food.i have eaten way too many time in sydney so i knew. YES u can ask for it. I dont know why they are stingy on offer it consider u paid like $50 for a rack of Ribs.
Food was quite good, large serves (unless you are a huge eater, the half serves of ribs are plenty). Blue cheese salad starter was a highlight, beef ribs were good without being exceptional. Steaks were good. Overall a good experience, expensive for what it is, but you pay for the view, atmosphere and good quality service.
If great ribs, wings and steaks are all your after then this is your place! Although insanely tacky from the decor to the cocktails and food presentation, the food itself is up to scratch! Succulent pork spare ribs and juicy wings coated in a bunch of sugar, the only problem being my steak came medium when I asked for blue to rare... In saying that the staff were incredibly helpful and happy to brig me a new one that was perfect! Would definitely go back for another full rack of ribs!
Ordered the rib racks which were tasty but a little oily.
Pros:
-Flavoursome and well seasoned ribs
-Good ambience
-Excellent customer service
-Large portions
Cons:
-Pricey (we were charged $10 for a bottle of sparkling water)
-Racks were too oily, probably because of the sauce or marinade they used
Overall, I'd recommended this restaurant for a good cheat meal or an expensive dining experience.
