Review Sky Surfers Paradise Restaurant - Surfers Paradise

Mil Chan
Same address but it’s no longer “Sky” anymore. It’s now named Yummy Golden Sand. Went yum Cha with my partner and we both happy with most of the food we ordered. The steamed pork and prawn dumplings, satay calamari, deep fried prawn dumplings and BBQ duck were good. But the tripe in ginger & shallots was chewing. The fried combination dumplings were just warm. The stuffed eggplant were just too raw to eat and they cancelled it for us. The staffs were friendly and attentive. Also there’s free parking in Hilton car park which is a nice offer in Surfers.

The food was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant itself needs a bit of an update. The staff were nice except for a young man who didn’t communicate with you at all, but we were seated with no issues and no wait time. Recommend the Sang Choi Bao, very authentic 👌🏼

Nice place for Yum Cha at a fair price considering its a tourist area.

Very delicious food. Came very quickly. Large variety and friendly staff. Can't complain!

The person I went to dinner with always used to come to this restaurant whilst living in surfers. They recommended this as one of the best Chinese restaurants. We were the third people in the restaurant for dinner and one of the last to leave. Not by choice. The entrees were prompt. The mains took over one hour and 10mins and only came to the table once we asked. The food was really good, as promised, however wouldn’t go back because of the wait time. The previous manager used to be really onto it. It seemed like we were just forgotten without much of an apology. Overall, great food but not worth the wait.

Went for lunch as a table of seven, ordered a wide selection of meat dishes, vegetable noodles and rice. It wasn't busy (4-5 other tables full) and the lady on the front desk was happy to seat us but after that we were abandoned. Most of the vegetarian options were on the à la carte menu which required the manager to come to the table to accept them, a little odd but not problematic aside the extra waiting. The meat dishes we ordered turned up fairly quickly and tasted very good, but were a bit small. Unfortunately the rice for our table didn't arrive until about 15 minutes after we'd finished eating all the other dishes, despite us chasing it up with the staff three times. For some reason - either because they wanted us to order more meat dishes, or because rice is exceptionally hard to cook - they really didn't want us to have rice. When it did finally appear we ate it by itself as were pretty hungry. Trying to pay the bill was a new challenge in itself. After sitting around attempting to get the staff's assistance we got fed up with waiting and packed all our stuff up, making it clear we were ready to leave. This finally got there attention so we could pay and grab desert from somewhere else. Unfortunately we won't be returning, but if you're keen to go I'd recommend not going with a vegetarian, and bringing your own cooked rice.

We live locally for over 40 years and know where to find the best yum cha. For food quality, price and hospitality, this is one of the BEST in town. We haven't been there for a long time due to parking issues, but now they offered free parking over $50, we certainly will go a lot more often in the future.

Food. Very good. Indeed I would say excellent. Atmosphere. Bit dated and very 'old style' chinese feel. Service. Average. While it was alright, did not feel they really 'put in effort'. Price. Acceptable, given the location in the Surfers Paradise and about the same as other restaurants in the close proximity. Overall, rather satisfied and would go back again.

Visiting a friend in Gold Coast yesterday. Went to this restaurant, the restaurant was busy. We ordered few dishes for sharing. Food is fantastic! Will be back for sure!

Went here today with my partner, Wished we went to the YumCha down stairs instead the only reason we didn't is because we saw a few more things on the menu we liked but quality over quantity is the phrase here I'm afraid. <br/><br/>Food wasn't what we were used to my partner said the black bean sauce for the chicken feet tasted like it was mixed with BBQ sauce and the Tripe was tough with the same odd tasting sauce. I had prawn and pork Shumai, Xiao long boa, and some pork spring rolls we also ordered combination fried dumpling but they never came? <br/>Anyways the Shumai was tougher then I was used to and I suppose spring rolls are never much to talk about but these were super average at best the only redeeming thing was the xiao long boa and that's not worth coming to a restaurant to only order that. Side note: The sauce for the spring rolls was super watery 💦 Havnt had sauce that watery anywhere else.<br/><br/>Ambience was poor, There was foreign tv on in the background.<br/><br/>Service was poor we had to ask about the items in the cart a few times because it seemed like they were spaced out or uninterested, Food wait times were a bit ridiculous as I mentioned they forgot an item we asked for.<br/><br/>No pictures we forgot the phone in the car.<br/><br/>

Food was at best average and service was terrible. The Asian families were well taken care of while me and my partner were all but forgotten about

Food was okay, service was terrible. Not coming back. The waiter who may have been the boss(?), was very rude and wasn't welcoming at all. Food was also terribly overpriced for what it was.

Pretty disappointing.<br/>Service was ok, however ALL of the waitresses were glum, not one smiled or made us feel welcome. They all looked gloomy which is a real downer for diners.<br/>Our entree of soft shell crab was delicious but that's were the accolades stop.<br/>The special fried rice smelt burnt the minute it arrived. It tasted good enough but with a hint of burnt flavour throughout. The eye fillet steak with black pepper sauce was terrible - basically tasted like a gravox gravy with a vague hint of pepper in there somewhere. We left much of those two dishes behind.<br/>Atmosphere is lacking.<br/>Wouldn't recommend it.

Wonderful service!! Food was fantastic- especially the filet steak with black pepper sauce! Thanks for a wonderful meal- we will absolutely be back for more!

VERY DISAPPOINTED !! I would like to rate the zero, but 1 is the lowest point. I would not comment the service because the service does not exist at all in this restaurant. Dishes are totally over-priced!! You can easily find any nicer Chinese restaurant but in half price.

Recommended by friend but don't know why he recommended it. Worst restaurant in Gold Coast. Service does not exist in this place. Food is overpriced and not delicious at all. Plzzzz choose other Chinese restaurant nearby.

Coming from Melbourne and living in a high rise I was use to the height, however a girl I was dating insisted she take me to the observation deck of SkyPoint. Friendly greeting on ground level, the elevator ride was fun... But when I got to the top the view was "spectacular" the gorgeous view of the beaches, the surrounding suburbs and the amazing Hinterland region. Just to add to the joy my date wanted to buy me lunch and the girl that served us had a huge smile and very helpful with the choice of our meal. What impressed me was that she was happy coming to work as she said, look at what I get to see everyday.... Highly recommend it..

No defiantly not. A nice place to go bad service ' ! Food was over priced !! Don't know how can they put the price of the food so much !!!!!
Michael
Very average service. Echo-y (loud) room. Waited 30mins till our food came out. Quite overpriced a la carte menu and the food was so-so. Wouldn't go back.

Rating was based on the food (dinner). Requested for less salt for the dishes we ordered and it came out very salty. One of the worst Chinese food that I had.
HungryTumTum
One of the better yum cha place in Brisbane and GC. The dumplings were not too oily nor salty and packed with meat and prawns. The menu is not as extensive but hey, I suppose they could focus on quality more.

As an Asian this place served somewhat awful dim sum I have ever had in my life, totally not recommended, I think the dim sum she brought out is all microwaved, please don't hesitate or even think of giving it a go! This place does not even reach the standard of how to make dim sum!! Awful awful awful!

Soft Shell Crab. Best I've ever had. Definitely coming back

Service non existent. When specified allergies they ignore and stated 'just eat around it'<br/>Food good, but a party was being held in the 'private function room' aka the left side with Chinese partitions ruined the night. Much better restaurants found on cavil.

The place to ruin your holidays in Gold Coast. 1. Service is non-existent, we asked for a high chair. The waitress pointed to a corner where they park the high chairs. Get it yourself basically what she means. The first time I experience that in any type of restaurants in Australia even in a small food court, a cleaner is willing to grab one. <br/>2. No greeting or smile from any waiter or waitress. They are reluctant to take order, refill water to tea pot and even check out. <br/>3. Food vs Price - food quality is poor and over-priced. A few dishes were inedible!!!<br/>4. Indeed this restuarant is easy to access, there are definitely better options nearby.

Quality yum cha on the gold Coast!. Service was surprisingly impressive. <br/>Common sense was often lacking (eg with getting us 1 glass of cold water) however this was made us through the high quality of steamed options and attentiveness. <br/>One of the few yum cha places I've visited where they still bring around a trolly which is great.<br/>Will definitely be coming back.
A Foodie Diner
Disgusting. Just went to this place today for yum cha, words fail me..... Spring rolls are not spring rolls they are like a beef sausages in cased , the San Choi Bow was inedible , the roast pork was tough... If you were to brave this place stick to the dumplings... They are clearly defrosted prior to steaming!!!!! Oh and by the way don't look at the floor your likely to see what we did complete filth!

On holidays with my boyfriend and stumbled across sky for yum cha (10am - 3pm) must say we both agree this is the best yum cha we have ever had and the most amazing steamed custard buns!!! If your in surfers and after a great lunch that's well priced this is where you should go :)

Finally a Chinese restaurant with world class standards on the Gold Coast. We were so happy to discover this restaurant. We have lived on the Gold Coast for 15 years and have been to all the Chinese restaurant in pursuit of great Asian Food. Well done Sky restaurant and the extremely professional manager Kiko for nailing it. Your food is AMAZING. Thank you.

Food is good but over priced - service was awful. Had to call 2 service staff to place order only to be told that they don't take orders and will get a waiter. Had to ask 3 times and wait 15 mins for soy sauce!!! Meals were staggered and did not come out at same time. Just too many other options to ever return
