Review Cheng's China Bistro - Surfers Paradise

The most awful quality food. Ordered $85 only to receive “special fried rice” with not a single prawn. Ordered beef & black bean only to get 1 tiny piece of meat in it and rest veggies. Honey chicken was soggy and had no actual honey. Sweet & sour pork was old and the sauce on it had completely dried out. And the spring rolls were folded In half they were that soggy. Every item went in the bin. Nothing fresh or edible.

TERRIBLE! Do NOT order here! Multiple items in our order were missing but the restaurant conveniently doesn’t have a number to call. The dishes were half full and our vegetables were a container of cabbage! I paid $120 for the worst excuse for a meal ever delivered. Menu log literally offered me a $15 voucher compensation for the $19 food missing. Save yourself time and stress and by pass this restaurant!

Absolutely disgraceful. Food was 2 hours late, and arrived stone cold. It smelt off when we opened the containers, looked overcooked, and dry. Not to mention that our order was incomplete, and cost an absolute fortune. There was no way to contact the restaurant as their phone number was "disconnected". I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy.

I ordered a special fried rice and combination soft noodle. The fried rice was extremely bland and dry, it needs seasoning and more soy sauce cooked through it to at least make it less dry and have some flavour. The combination noodles were not great, they were bland except I could taste salt, the lack of quality made me feel unsure it was safe to be eating. I asked for chilli to be cooked through it but my request was completely ignored. I won't be back but I hope my critiques are taken on board or I don't imagine this business will get any repeat customers.

DO NOT ORDER FOOD HERE!!!! Waited 2 hours for cold and uneatable food!!!!!! Overpriced for the quantity supplied!!!!! VERY VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED!! Poor service on behalf of the restaurant.

No star to this restaurant. I ordered honey chicken (not even real chicken) and fried rice which came with bugs. Very disappointing.

Terrible racist staff, treat non Asians like dirt, the same meal a non Asian is severed is smaller than the Asian customer version! Very grubby and unclean with staff that may as well be rounding up cattle! Go elsewhere it is not worth the experience or risk of contracting something fromthe food

Ordered the bbq pork and rice aswell the singapore noodles. Both were bland/dry, they both lacked seasoning and the food looked nothing like pictures on the menu.

Monday night dinner... we drank a couple of wines with our meals. We were a walk in and were seated straight away. Our meals were prawn stir fry , fried rice, crispy skin chicken and a chicken stir fry. The food was nice and reasonably priced. Good for a quick Chinese meal.

If you're looking for a quick Chinese food fix in surfers paradise don't count this place out - the food is okay. However, it loses major points in every other category including ambiance, customer service and food presentation.

This is the worst Chinese restaurant even I have been. Doggie staff would over charged you without any explanation. Stirred vegetables was way too salty and the seafood was not fresh either. Don’t recommend you try!

My husband and I had the chicken curry laksa and stirred fried beef fried noodle. My beef noodle was cooked really well though the meat was a tad tough. Similarly, the curry laksa tasted great with only downside being that the chicken is processed meat. The prices were reasonable and service quick and efficient. <br/><br/>Good place for a quick meal at a reasonable price.

Disgusting. I ordered the King Prawn and Vegetable and the prawns were tiny (so not king prawns) and were dry and flavourless - very unpleasant to eat. The sauce had little flavour and vegetables were average. Wasted $19.80 on a meal that I couldn't eat.

Love the lunch specials here!! Portions are actually quite reasonable with the price averages! Taste are quite delectable for Chinese food. A tad on the oily side but you expect Chinese food to be a bit oily (coming from an Asian background)

I just like it. Food is good if a bit basic, and service is very friendly but yes, it is a a bit hopeless. It's in a great old arcade which is a pleasure to sit in. Recommended!

Absolutely terrible! Don't go.. We were having a great time on the GC when we decided to go and have a Chinese dinner near Surfers Paradise. <br/><br/>Firstly, the service was appalling and after we had ordered we asked how much a bowl of rice was...and to our horror, each bowl costs 2.80!!!!!<br/><br/>Now I am a foodie, and have travelled to many countries around the world. BUT I have never come across a restaurant that has charged me $2.80 for a bowl rice. <br/>It gets worse...when our food arrives, and our rice follows...we discover that our rice bowl is only filled about half way. That is absolutely unacceptable!<br/>One of the dishes we ordered had vermicelli in it. However, the vermicelli was inedible as it was completely clumped up. <br/>When we complained, the owner was rude and almost reluctant to remake the dish for us. <br/><br/>I would seriously recommend you go elsewhere for decent food!

Does Cheng even China?!?!. The display pictures are deceiving. The Ma Po Tofu was terrible. Hor Fun tasted alright but far from what the picture offers - no seafood, just beef. The wonton noodle was the worst. Wontons were basically dim sims...

The BBQ pork fried noodle and stir fried rice noodle is awful ever!

No communication skills.. Terrible service. Girlfriend ordered Pad Thai and asked if there was meat in it as she is vegetarian and the waitress answered with "Me not taste" so she got the manager and even he didn't know and had to ask the chef. Table service was impolite and didn't speak a word. Food was decent but the whole experience was sub-par.

The best I've ever eaten.Full of flavor and a great price.Beautiful people.

Bad service. $7.80 for a quail that wasn't even tasty, self service for chilli oil, charge extra for chilli, terrible service and food not great.

Terrible food and service! The food comes out really fast however I would rather wait a little longer for a quality meal. We ordered a deep fried pork spare ribs, not only they used diced pork chop instead but tasteless! What puts us off the most was they used pre-fried ones and re-fry it to heat it up n serve - full of oil!!! It has been out worst experience during our goldcoast trip!

Over-steamed chewy baby abalones, $8 each. Salt & Pepper King Prawns. Way too salty and too much MSG, no ifs, ands or buts about it. Salted Fish with Chicken and Tofu Claypot. Despite the lack of plating and presentation, this dish turned out to be pretty alright considering it simple and easy to cook. <br/><br/>

As mentioned the service was fast but there might be a compromise in quality to achieve this. The environment is like that of any Asian eatery, which is messy but sort of authentic and endearing. We didn't expect this place to be amazing and it wasn't but we still walked out reasonably satisfied.
