Review Focus Chinese Restaurant - Surfers Paradise

I had a good afternoon yumcha long long time ago and it was good. Came back to have a dinner one night. It was a disaster. The restaurant became messy and wet outside and some Chinese people smoked outside. There were only a couple of table of Chinese customers and one or two locals or travellers. Used tables were not tidied up. I felt I was somewhere in mainland China. We were not served until we asked for menu and tea. Food was overpriced and not particularly delicious. Waiter/waitress were not attentive. Don't bother to spend a $ here. Heaps of better options out there in Surfers Paradise.

Went on Saturday for lunch. Service was slow and unfriendly. Yum cha doesn't come in trolleys, you have to actually order the plates. Some of the stuff on their menu weren't available (such as calamari and squid). The food was painfully slow to arrive at our table. Thankfully the formula one grand prix was on to pass time. Food was pretty good, but will not be coming here again, sorry.

I was recommended to this place. I'll never listen to the person who recommended it, again. Two staff on floor, both completely lacking any sign of personality. They waited until we opened our wine, to tell us there was a $4 charge per person corkage. The menus look like they'd been left in the middle of the street and run over by peak hour traffic for at least a month. Was decided to stay (bad decision) and ordered Peking Duck (3 courses) Scallops with Snow Peas and XO Sauce. After a few minutes we were told that they only had two duck for the day and they were sold already and there were no snow peas. So we re-ordered. This time salt and pepper squid (still waiting for the salt and pepper), a sizzling beef dish, Scallops with bean shots and XO sauce (a variation because of the lack of snow peas) and garlic beans or something similar. Well! The squid was OK some bits a little rubbery, narely a trace of salt/pepper. The scallops with XO etc.. so so, the scallops themselves were actually beautifully cooked and melted in the mouth and occasionally in a mouthful, a little "breath of the Wok" but it would have been much better with snow peas as per menu. The Beef dish a little bland, hints of honey, a little breath of the wok but nothing to write home about. Had we been in America, I would have expected the wait staff to have a cigarette hanging from their mouth and to be chewing gum. They were completely disinterested. We should have fled at the beginning, before we placed the order. We didn't and I am embarrassed because it was my suggestion to eat there. Never again. A pity because I only live around the corner.

This place doesn´t even deserve one star honestly. I´ve worked in quite a few restaurants and I am usually understanding of hospitality staff and what they endure, but i have NEVER in my life had such a HORRIBLE dinning experience, hence taking the time to write this review, saving you the trouble of even trying this place out. TERRIBLE SERVICE, the manager had no idea what was on the menu, (she couldn´t even speak two words of English either) They brought three of our four entrees, only three came, when asked about the fourth, the "manager" said that wasn´t available that night, offered another option, yeah fine, main came, semi-decent food, even though the crab was not cooked the way we ordered either, and still no entree, finally came after some telling off the waiter. of course not even dreaming of some tea, side plates or finger bowls. This was such a dissapointing experience for the first night of our holiday, left such a terrible taste in our mouths, we had to go to a different restaurant afterwards to finish our meal, it was THAT BAD. NEVER EVER GO THERE IF YOU CAN!

Horrible experience, ordered a crab weight 2.8kg cost over 700, the cooking was really bad and the crab roe/cream was mysteriously missing.

This restaurant is the worst restaurant in the whole world because bad service and take a long times to serve you and bring the food to you. My suggestion to people never dine in this restaurant ever again it take a long long time to serve you.
