Cute neighborhood cafe. The coffee was perfectly good. Service was good too. We had a lovely time and would very happily return. No photos this time. I forgot.
This lovely little cafe is tucked away on a street corner and has a beautifully warm inviting ambience for a cool autumn day.
We had the lamb sliders and they were incredible. Can highly highly recommend. The staff are really lovely too :)
Super cafe, yummy food, great staff.
Enjoyed a lovely hot breakfast, fast and friendly service. Will return, looking forward to trying the Pancakes.
Delightful staff, friendly and helpful proprietors, fast service and delicious food. My wife adores the pumpkin bruschetta (made on eggplant, in place of toast), and I can recommend the fritters and the eggs benedict. Also, the roasted tomatoes are a revelation
Great quality of service and very high standard of food! Staff were very professional and attentive. Unfortunately we found the pricing very excessive for what we got! The venue itself was boutique like, well presented, cosy and intimate. Lovely experience on a cold winter morning!
In the leafy neighbourhood, this was a nice easy lunch spot in an established small quiet suburban cafe at the corner of Wells St on Mont Albert Road.
Simple clean red brick interior as the name suggested with non themed decor such as a touch of chandelier, some potted plants and interesting seeing spare dining chairs hanging off the wall.
The Jump Start Salad and Soup were an interesting and delicious mix. Pancakes were good though would have preferred more fruits. Overall a solid meal, well presented, good portion and tasty, friendly and accommodating staff both made up for the slightly higher menu pricing.
🌟🌟🌟✨Soup of the Day - Mixed Vegetable Soup with toasted ciabatta
🌟🌟🌟✨Pancakes with grilled peach and melted butter
🌟🌟🌟🌟 Jump Start Salad with additional smoked salmon
🌟🌟🌟🌟Long Black
Loved the food - the fritters are incredible, and coffee is excellent as well. Made even better by very friendly staff and great service! Will definitely be back!
Lovely cafe in a quiet leafy suburb with friendly service. Enjoyed the grilled peaches with maple butter pancakes, really yum and satisfying! However I do agree that their prices are abit high for the things you get!
This is an impressive cafe that is doing the right things. It resides in an old corner shop, in a small neglected-looking shopping strip, and its glass facade offers street views. There are also tables outside under the metal street awning. Inside it is modern, and has a good vibe, augmented by the funky beats in background. There is certainly a red brick wall, but an also painted bricks with planter stands. It has beautiful varnished natural timber tables and benches, and matching colonial style chairs. The service was welcoming, friendly and professional, and the waiting staff were attentive and efficient. I was provided water promptly. The menu was quite interesting, with several vegetarian options. I selected the breakfast bruschetta, which proved a good choice. It was attractively presented and very nice, with a good combination of ingredients, and the tang of balsamic reduction. The coffee was very good indeed, well made, strong without bitterness, and served at the right temperature. A classy establishment, worthy of a visit.
Drove past this place so many times and always wanted to check it out. The staff were friendly and inviting and the menu was well put together. The food was delicious and a good portion size however the prices are just a bit ridiculous. I wanted to get the breakfast bruschetta but it costs $17.50 with NO EGGS! So instead I opted for the eggs benedict for $16.50 because if at least has two eggs with it. If you're going to have fancy prices at least supply almond milk as an option as most cafes are doing now. Also splitting bills is not difficult and is a common practice now. Would like to come back but not unless the meals reflect the prices properly.
This cafe is simply excellent! The staff are welcoming and effcient; the food is delicious and very well portioned and the decor is cosy and homely.
However, the recent rise in menu prices was a small shame as the inexpensiveness of this cafe was definitely a unique factor. It always felt like a bargain to have eggs on toast with two extras and leave with a bill close to $15 - now one is likely to spend closer to $20 for the same dish. I know they have to make a living, but these updated prices have hampered the complete 'wow' factor of its prior reputation.
Having said that, this issue is only a pet peeve and I still recommend visiting this cafe.
I hope the management continue to passionately and warmly run their business.
Met with happy smiles when my friend and I walked in for an 11am brekky on a busy Saturday. Outstanding service from start to finish. Coffees delicious and hot. We both ordered the big breakfast and it was plentiful and tasty. Eggs poached perfectly, hash brown crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle, plenty of chorizo, bacon, mushrooms and spinach to go with it.
If I'm being ultra critical, everything was stacked on top of each other on the plate and it was initially a bit hard to manage. Bigger plates would've helped but I still managed to enjoy everything and overall had a quality experience.
They also sponsor my local sporting club and the staff were pleased to hear that we were there as a result of that sponsorship. I'll be back again, not just because they sponsor my club - the food, coffee and service is excellent.
Lovely! I had the yummy pumpkin burschetta - hint: roasted eggplant is used instead of bread - and my partner the baked eggs. Delish! Also try the mocha!
First visit today - full for lunch with plenty of happy diners! Great food, good coffee and wonderful service by an upbeat staff. My almost 3 yo son can't wait to return after consuming a small mountain of pancakes today....
What a fabulous cafe, friendly staff and great service! I enjoyed pancakes with grilled peaches and (to die for) maple butter!!! Fantastic coffee too! 😁👍☕
Great place always friendly, welcoming coffee prompt to the table, food is consistently good like that it has become our our regular weekly cafe.
Good food (ordered the eggplant bruchetta), coffee, quick service, nice atmosphere and great company 😋 Lots of vegetarian options. Would recommend!
Bingo Baby. Number 2 on my all time best list with a bullet. Could not fault it. Everything superb. Thank you Red Brick... an absolute cracker!
Oh yum! Beautifully fitted out cafe with great service by friendly staff. Food was delicious. I had a very healthy salad with a poached egg on top; my companion had the zucchini fritters. Neither of us left anything on our plates. My only criticism is that too many of the dishes included feta, limiting the choice for a non-feta lover like myself (yes, I know, but I just don't like it). I would definitely return to Red Brick cafe.
It was hard to fault my first experience at Red Brick Café. Prompt friendly service, spotless tables, and a very tasty coffee/lemon buttermilk tart. Will be back to try their breakfast menu. Their attention to detail is second to none. Recommended.
Great place for coffee or breakfast. Limited seating so be prepared to wait for a table but well worth the wait. Fantastic customer service great coffee and the food is amazing.
Highly recommend. Great local spot for breakfast, great coffee, great service and delicious food cooked well. I love their poached eggs with avocado and smoked salmon. The salmon is always beautifully fresh. Yum!
Love this little gem! Service, food and coffee is fantastic! My absolute favourite is the delicious polenta stack......Staff are always friendly and eager to please without being intrusive.....coffee is made exactly the way you request it to be and the food not only looks fabulous when it arrives but tastes soooo fresh and scrumptious! A real winner!
Went and got the big red breakfast, everything was all pretty good/standard for cafes in the area. Couldn't really fault any of the food, coffee is also good. Location is away from busy areas which is also nice. Only issue is no real car parking besides side streets.
Had a very good breakfast this morning. The Zucchini and Sweet Corn Fritters were perfect! Great balance of flavours, imaginative and beautiful to look at. We will be back.
Great little cafe in Surrey Hills. Normally a breakfast venue for me but tried a Monday lunch. Really busy which was a surprise - a thriving clientele of locals. Had the zucchini and sweet corn fritters with salsa, salmon and poached egg which was excellent. The busy nature of the cafe did mean that the kitchen was under pressure leading to longer than expected delays which wasn't ideal for a work lunch however the food made up for it.
Fantastic local cafe.... Food is top notch, service always friendly, and it has a wonderful vibe without the pretentious attitudes many Cafes have these days. Coffee is always perfect. Get on down there!
Great local cafe, service was fantastic & very friendly would definitely come back just for the service. I had the bruschetta with a couple of hash browns. The bruschetta although I enjoyed it, it was very plain it only had advocado & a very small amount of feta on it topped with way too much rocket. So it wasn't a proper bruschetta. It was nice but I'll skip that one next time & try something else.
My family of 8 came here this morning on a busy mothers day for breakfast. We were all impressed with the service and quality of food. The staff were so attentive and friendly, our water glasses were never empty and the coffee came out so quickly. The food was tasty and there was something to suit everyone.
Great food, great service. As a family of five with a wide range of tastes it often hard to find a place that suits all of us. This morning we returned to red brick cafe after a 2 year break (new owners have made us re interested). The non egg eaters had good choices, the full breakfast was exactly what my son ordered, the scrambled eggs fresh light and fluffy with a great colour! All five us were happy, full and content at the end of our breakfast. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The one thing that was a little off was the milk for the lattes needed to be a little warmer as it went cold quickly. Well worth a return visit!!
The new owners of this cafe have improved it significantly. They are attentive and very friendly and as a result, have turned this place into a favorite. Good coffee and with such a small kitchen, product great meals with a lot of variety. From never going because of the previous owners to going frequently, highly recommend this cafe.
I love the gorgeous chandeliers and the fancy bottles the water comes in. I also love the fact that they provide table service. Why can’t all cafes offer this? It should be an essential element rather than an occasional occurrence. The wait staff are warm and efficient. I’m always impressed when they can remember your order without writing it down.
Lovely atmosphere, coffee and food. Attentive service for big and little people. Great to have this cafe back on the go to list.
New owner , great food & coffee. Was so happy to hear new owners have taken over this cafe. With some minor changes to decor and menu it has revived this cafe back to life. Great coffee & food with attentive service . Look forward to trying more items from the menu.
A new cafe.. Well done on turning the place around. coffee was great, we shall return for a breakfast soon.
Rebirth under new ownership transforms this local coffee shop. Try it!. Really pleasing to visit this little local cafe and find it blossoming under its new ownership. The staff are warm, bright and welcoming; the service friendly and prompt. We enjoyed our roast vegetable roti with rocket salad. The coffee was excellent. Locals can return here with confidence. It deserves our support.
Friendly staff and prompt service. The haloumi stack was very generously sized and quite delicious. The gingerbread men are a nice touch.
Excellent coffee as good as any city cafe. Efficient and friendly. Good job guys!
BAD service!! Staff didn't.... BAD service!!
Staff didn't even smile at me, not friendly at all. Never go back.
Food & drinks were enjoyable, the service/attention to detail below par :-( female wait staff appeared like she would rather be anywhere else than there, no pleasantries what so ever!
Perfect breakfast stop. I had breakfast here with my family. Great variety, great service, feed and coffee perfect. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic service, great coffee and fabulous French toast.
Maybe have had better days. Looks excellent from the outside, very noisy once seated inside due to many Soccer Mums hiding from the stereotypically cool Melbourne morning. Too many staff may be ruining the broth here as my order took 3 times to verify and the coffee came out wrong twice. That being said the food was of good quality and plentiful enough for the price. Being a bit of a coffee snob I wasn't overly impressed with eventual coffee I drank, a long black that did its best to look like medium brown. These guys had an excellent reputation when they first opened for service and quality, hopefully I just caught an off day and they'll be more on the ball if I get back there.
Went for brunch at this lovely little spot in Central moonee ponds, great coffee, thoroughly enjoyed my pork and chorizo terrine..big portions, a bit too much protien on my plate, but hey...I ordered it. Make sure you're hungry.
Great cafe for the area, but could be better. The coffee wasn't great n there were so many staff standing around, they seemed confused. Had to ask for menu's and water, but then also felt quiet rushed too. Too many staff for such a small cafe. Almost felt like you we're being watched the whole time. The eggs Benedict was ok, but tomatoes were cold. Great potential, but not the best. Would go again to check it wasn't just a bad day and make sure. Wanted it to be good.
Nice Spot. I am a fan of the cafes that are one out, and away from main shopping strips. They have a more welcoming feel to them and this place is no exception. Mid arvo it was quite full and had a good buzz to it. There was no complaints with the coffee. Might head back for a feed if im in the area again.
Above Average. Good coffee, nice ambience. Normally quite good but recently service is a bit average and slow and the menu restricted - some of the favourites like Mexican breakfast no longer there. Will be back but won't be expecting too much.
Stopped in for a coffee and hot chocolate. Ambience cozy, hot chocolate rated 8/10 (by my 8 yr old) and coffee good - not the best in the area though. Staff very friendly...
Great place for coffee. The coffee is fantastic. Banana bread with mascarpone was to die for
No complaints. Wouldn't rave, but food OK and coffee good. Service can be a bit distracted... Bacon and eggs are worthy but wont be ordering the crepes again. Great spot though..
Great place. Excellent coffee, food and atmosphere! As a semi-local it's great to finally come across a cafe that is an enjoyable experience.
Best cafe in surrey hills by a mile ! Very welcoming staff who are always happy to have a chat ! Special mention to the barista Jared who makes the best coffees going around !
BEST COFFEE IN THE EASTERN SUBURBS!. I just love this place. The staff are friendly and helpful. Service is fast and efficient. And by far the best coffee for miles! I have quickly become a devotee of this place with it's easy, relaxed atmosphere and the little touches that make you feel welcomed every time you walk in or sit down.
Gem of a cafe. There is so much to love about this gem of a cafe. Being local, my husband and I drop in regularly for a quick coffee, to grab a sourdough baguette or to spoil ourselves with a tasty breakfast/brunch (eggs benedict and the breakfast brushcetta the faves). The take home bread is really delicious too, far superior to any other bread you can get in the area. We haven't been disappointed yet and are always impressed with the quality of the service, food and look of the cafe (the only suggestion we have, is to pare down the Christmas decorations...). A great addition to the Melbourne cafe scene.
SURREY HILLS SUCCESS!. They say the 'proof's in the eating'. Well, at the RBC, it's also in the coffee, the friendly service and the terrific ambience. The locals are clearly voting with their feet with the place in full flight most weekends. From oldies to ankle biters, students to seniors, the RBC is right on the money. Attentive and accommodating staff add to the experience. You can't beat Sat or Sun breakfast with tasty hot and cold meals on the varied menu. We've been several times and will definitely return to the RBC. Highly recommended!
Love this cafe. Coffee the best I've had anywhere. Food is fresh and delicious. Staff are friendly. Can't say enough good things. Keep up the great work!
Service with a smile n willing to cater to special dietary requirements .. Really enjoyed my brunch which had a gluten free option and an affordable brunch too! Will definitely be going back :o) great coffee too
Red Brick Cafe. Hooray at last a funky cafe in Surrey Hills.
Love this place. Coffee is great. Breakfasts really good with free range eggs and the works, all as fresh as can be.
Staff attentive, and kid friendly cafe with crayons and paper plus sweet bags for a very special treat.
Try the choc brownies or salted caramel cupcakes when you need a sugar fix or pop in and purchase coffees to go and delicious Sour Dough bread when you feel like Sunday in bed.
Mont Albert Road is great for a stroll to work off the calories . A great addition to this end of the street and really appreciated by all the folk who used to travel to Hawthorn for a great coffee
Great coffee. I visited this cafe for the first time recently, after passing it plenty of times on my way to work.
Coffee was surprisingly good, would definitely come back and grab some beans for my home machine too.
My friend who has visited before mentioned that they've done away with the pretentious staff - the waiters / barista that were there were all cheery and helpful.
Beautiful little cafe, very clean and warm. Coffee and milkshakes are superb. Glad to have another first class cafe in surrey hills.
First Time here, very impressed. Nice feel about it with cool back ground music & very friendly staff which is a must! Very nice rich flavored coffee with good creme. Have not had any food here however it all looks good.
A delight. Lovely addition to Mont Albert (especially seeing as another favourite now doesn't open on Sundays - crazy). Service was brilliant, coffee was done to perfection and the portion sizes huge! They were patient with little ones too and the inside décor is just gorgeous. Will definitely be coming back!
Fabulous!!. Super friendly staff, excellent food, delicious coffee and great value. I can't wait to go back. The area was needing a cafe of this style and quality - really fantastic!
Lovely Surprise. Great location, friendly staff, good coffee and a lovely breakfast menu. The breakfast burrito was a standout. Will return to try the lunch menu. Good take home bread, croissants, cakes & pastries.
Friendly service and great breakfast! Homemade hash browns were delicious! Will be going again to try more of the breakfast menu
Went there for a quick lunch. Ended up being there longer than planned as the food took a good half hr to come. Loved the brekky salad, nice and filling. Partner got the eggs Benedict and was disappointed in the size of the portions. Said it wasn't worth $15. Hot choc was beautiful. More of a coffee place than lunch atm but this place has heaps of potential, good ambience, not just Chatham mothers! Thanks will try again soon
Red brick cafe's food, coffee and service is sure to leave you satisfied and content. The perfect cafe Surrey Hills and surrounding areas could ask for. The cafe has a great feel and is situated in a nice, friendly environment and it's coffee and food are of high quality.
This place is wonderful! Had a largely sized breakfast that was of the highest quality. The coffee was great also. Great idea, well run business. Thumbs up!
Above and beyond expectations. Surrey Hills has been in need of a great place like this for a long time. This place is fantastic. The servings are well sized, the coffee is exceptional, the service is brilliant and it has the old fashioned touch which makes it so friendly. A must.
New kid on the block. Surrey Hills has longed for a good Cafe and we may have just found it.
I went for breakfast at Red Brick Cafe yesterday morning and may i say i was very impressed. I am big on Sunday brunch and this new Cafe meets all my standards.
Coffee is great, food is delicious and portions are healthy. Hoping the menu will expand however it is still ample for breakfast/lunch. Staff were very friendly and i absolutely love the feel of the place.
highly recommend stopping by for a coffee or a meal.
Red Brick Cafe. A perfect location. Great coffee. Friendly Staff. Very successful for a first week.
Red brick cafe Is remarkable. It is situated in a lovely family orientated neighborhood. The coffee is unparalleled within a 20km radius. Don't think about checking it out, it is a must.
Had a great experience at this new cafe. Waiters friendly, food yum and portions were generous. Menu is small, mainly breakfast dishes but I'm guessing they will expand when they've been opened a bit longer. All round nice local cafe, will be back for sure
Expensive Delicious Habit.
+4.5
Two weekends ago, I found myself in Surrey Hills in need of breakfast before a local football game we were going to watch. A moment of urbspooning later, we were at Red Brick Cafe ready to eat. I was really impressed by the location and appearance of the cafe.
What a lovely place! Met with friends for brunch. I had a Croque Monsieur which was perfect -- beautifully prepared and presented and perfectly balanced for taste and texture. Excellent.
My partner had the pancakes and proclaimed them the best she's ever had.
And the coffee was great, too.
Would definitely go back!
Good coffee, breakfast, and relaxed atmosphere.
Great food, great service. Staff is friendly and helpful. Also, the dog liked it!
A good local cafe with quality food. Enjoyed the vegetarian dishes there.
Fast and friendly service, great food. Popular on Saturday morning.
