You will not be disappointed, this place is amazing. The food is fantastic, we opted for a set menu for a party of 10 and the food just kept coming! Every dish a surprise. Staff and service second to none. Don't take my word for it, go and try the experience

Enjoyed take away souvlaki. Clean and fresh but missing the street food taste. The restaurant was bustling but the food was delivered quickly.

Went with friends again tonight - this place just never disappoints. AMAZING food, quick service and all the staff are great. Recommend this place to all my friends. Can't wait to go back!

Hopeless - would not recommend! 1st time experience - service rude and entitled! Waste of time! In response to your response, if you are a “hardworking family restaurant” you would’ve welcomed me and my friends in for a coffee after 9:30pm on a Friday night instead of turning us away saying “dinner only” when your kitchen was most likely closing anyway so… In my opinion which I’m more than entitled to an opinion - still hopeless and still a waste of time!

AMAZING!! One of my favourite restaurants. Chicken gyros, eggplant chips, taramasalata and pita are the stand outs for me. Lovely and welcoming staff! Would highly recommend.

Love the environment, there's a sunny court yard out the back and a catering hall which was the old bakery 90 years ago. I had the Brekky Souva with the sriracha mayo, and that mayo is fantastic. Coffee is also great. And the price is very reasonable. I definitely want to try more Greek breakfast..

Suitably relaxed environment with all of the hoped for dishes. A welcome (reasonably) recent addition to great Greek food in the Eastern burbs. Its likely to become a regular for us.

I would love to see more flavor on the Gyros....(it tasted like just boiled chicken)

We enjoyed the moorish tender pan fried calamari, honey soaked eggplant chips, incredibly tasty salad of peas, broad beans, mint, feta and freakah and cheese and spinach croquettes. Also loved halva ice cream and perfectly cooked baclava. Yum yum yum.

Just such a lovely place to eat for atmosphere, the best service and friendly staff. You do a great job Mary. I am so sorry you will miss Rosemary so much having been in there so often with her friends.The food is just marvellous..Glenis

We had the Beef Souvlaki and the Meat platter. Sensational! This place is now a favourite of ours. Definitely going back. These guys can cook!

Fantastic venue! Great, friendly service and the food was divine. We had a lovely breakfast with a family of five. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The Zucchini fritters with egg were awesome and the Baklava...OMG!

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at this new cafe. It was very comfortable with lovely staff and amazing food. Will definitely be back!

Great quick service and a small nook can be found for the solo diner<br/>Chicken gyros and vegetarian souvlakia excellent in taste and portion though the pastry spanakopita is flakey and difficult to eat falls apart and really is a downer<br/>The oven roaste d traditional Greek dishes are actually fairly authentic and generous in portion and have nice sauce and come with well cooked caramelised onions carrots etc etc <br/>For a Greek place offering restaurant meals for take way away I thoroughly recommend it<br/>

Delicious food, great service

Had a fabulous lunch here. Very authentic and generous serves. Special of lamb cutlets with skordalia was perfectly cooked. Will be back for dinner and looking forward to sitting in the courtyard on a warm evening.

This place is my new favourite Greek cafe! The interior decor is very welcoming, the waiters are always friendly and know their menu very well. My favourite is their chicken souvalaki, lots of meat, chips and fresh salad - YUMMY!

Great food and pleasant setting! The grain salad is delicious. The staff are attentive. This is a fantastic place for breakfast/brunch in the eastern suburbs. The courtyard is a nice feature.

The food here was fantastic, however the only downside was the lack of acknowledgement when we walked in. Not even a simple hello or suggestion where to sit. It wasn't busy so we found a table ourselves which was no big issue but a simple greeting would have been nice. It wasn't like we snuck in. That aside we couldn't fault the food!

Great little cafe. 2nd time visiting. This time we had the calamari which came with chips and Greek salad but they let us swap the salad for their delicious grain salad. The whole meal was lovely. Recommending to everyone at work. This place also had a nice courtyard as well. Perfect for a sunny day.

We loved the combination of Greek & Mediterranean throughout the dishes! All the dishes were so full of flavour. They had an awesome range of vegetarian and meat dishes as well. Really enjoyed the breakfast menu especially as it was quite different to the usual Melbourne brunch. Not often do you find a place without Smashed avo on the menu! It encourages people to try new things and we certainly loved everything we ordered.

Hellenis Cafe is a husband and wife run Greek Mediterranean cafe that is growing quickly in popularity for good reason – every dish we have ever ordered has been done well (597 Whitehorse Road, Surrey Hills). Pictured is the Veggie Souvlaki with zucchini fritters, tzatziki and Greek slaw ($12). We also recommend the Calamari (pan fried calamari, aioli, chips and Greek salad) ($20), Mousaka (eggplant, potato, mince and bechamel) ($18) and chips (either potato chips with feta and oregano or eggplant chips with Greek yoghurt and honey … or both) ($8).

Went there for lunch and dinner many times and I am always blown away. Everything is homemade and made daily by the lovely owners. I always know that I will have a great meal and leave with a full tummy. Hellenis really knows how to make beautiful traditional Greek food presented in a modern way. Aside from the food the interior is stunning and transports you into Greece. The staff are so friendly and you get to know them very well. Everything about Hellenis is outstanding if you are considering going there make sure you do and you won’t be disappointed. I simply don’t understand why people are giving them a bad review because there is nothing that I can fault at all. Very happy customer!

Everything here seems to be made from scratch and made daily. The couple in the open kitchen obviously work very hard to ensure everything is perfect.<br/>I’m surprised the Zomato rating is showing as 2.9 at the moment when the review scores don’t reflect that.<br/>The lamb skewers and grain salad is my pick for a Friday night dinner. Our fussy kids tried and liked the chicken and the lamb and chips.<br/>Coffee is also lovely and I like the fact the kids can get a milkshake and hot chips as a treat during the day.<br/>Hope people give them a try. Nice to have this cafe in the neighbourhood and good for kids or adult only dinners and lunches.

UPDATE 10/11/2017<br/>$13.00 Souvlaki Breakfast Bacon & Eggs supercharged Aoli Sriracha sauce.<br/>I had a bit of a dip on my compatriot $10.00 Greek Yoghurt; Walnut Granola & Fig ... that was light and refreshing.<br/>Outdoor - back courtyard is the best, morning sun, fresh .... inside with the open kitchen is great, but it need a bigger exhaust.<br/>Super pleasant service, thanks, terima kasih Yuni.<br/><br/>PREVIOUS 2.5/5<br/>What's not to like about this cafe?<br/><br/>Bench seat .... basic error .... the Architect/Interior designer got it wrong on the maximum height, which is about 48 cm. It's not nice to sit across your companion at "half a metre" higher especially if your female companion is wearing low cut top ...... :-) while the rest of the setup is brilliant and cosy.<br/><br/>Our Donut balls are good, but coffee - latte, Griffiths coffee beans needs work. <br/><br/>Got potential in a great location with lots of competitions around.
