Just read the review below, but have to say I have bought hamburgers a few times since the business changed hands and I'm pleasantly surprised. Remember the taste of the old-fashioned hamburger with the lot in a paper bag, that's exactly what I've experienced every time. Old-fashioned price too! Cheers, Simon J.

Went in there the other night not knowing owners have changed, they've obviously changed the oil and batter as fish and chips were extremely oilly and we all had a sick feeling after it. We went to this shop for 6 years, when the Greek guys owned it they always had quality food; never missed a beat. Since they have changed which I assume is recently as there was obviously a hand over being undertaken, they've changed something drastically. Anyone going in there will be able to tell both oil and batter has changed. It's a shame they couldn't keep up this quality, won't go there again unfortunately. Anyone local who goes there will most certainly relate.

we ordered the burger pack for two, and god what a nice surprise. the burgers were so thick and hearty with generous serving of chips. The service was quick and friendly, definitely enjoyed the meal, 10/10

Not sure about the other reviews here...but I've been going here for about 6 months, every week. Met the old owners and the new are both are great. The food is just as good as the previous. We always get amazing warm service and bloody yum food.

Very hit & miss since the new owners took over. The oil being used for the chips doesn’t really work for me, instead of being a nice yellow the chips have a brown tinge and don’t taste that great. Think I’ll give this place a miss for awhile, it’s a shame as the previous owner was awesome.

First time going since the change of owners , still good fish and chips but can definitely tell the difference in the oil they use and the fish , the biggest disappointment was the potato cakes they used to batter their own , and now they are just the cheap packet ones and the chips are not as crispy , used to be the best fish and chips in Melbourne in my opinion under the ownership of the Greek brothers , but still good would still go again

Really nice owner ordered duo pack. The best CHIPS hands down. Crispy on the outside soft on the inside, the owner saw we were hungry and shouted us dim Sims and extra CHIPS. Best.local.fish.chips LEGEND

Best fish & chips shop in Melbourne! Period. Clean and modern but with oldschool service and the best potato cakes I've ever tasted. A lot of wanky try-hard burger joints out there, but Surrey Hills Fish, Chips & Grill does it right. Food is on point and try the fish bites too, they're phenomenal!

Went here on a recommendation and so glad we did. Great quality seafood - scallops and calamari were divine. Crisp chips with chicken salt. Burger was perfect...bread buns weren't so thick like you get in some shops that overpower the goodies inside. Just a good traditional fish and chips that reminded me of my youth.
Clean and fresh looking shop with staff that go the extra mile and make you feel welcome. Counter seating inside, but we sat outside and relaxed over the meal.
Definitely going back...particularly on movie night at Balwyn cinemas for a good quality dinner before the show.

Really friendly owners. Apparently the place recently switched to new management and it seems like they know what they are doing! The fish flakes were crispy, juicy and tender and were the highlight of the duo pack which also consisted of potato cakes, dim sims and chips. Would have liked to try more bite sized snacks such as calamari rings or chiko rolls but there was enough food for the two of us so we didn’t want to order too much. On the whole it’s definitely worth a visit and I would surely come back again. Had a lovely time eating in-store as the owners were so warm and welcoming.

Decided to go for a quick meal. Got excited and ordered too much. Owners are super friendly and best hosts ever. Had plenty of laughs with them as we decided to sit down and eat inside. The experiences reminded me why we should continue to support the local businesses. Flakes were delicious and calamari perfectly cooked. Chips were crunchy and well seasoned. Thank you gentlemen for an unexpected and unforgettable evening! Be back again.

Local fish and chip shop that showed so much promise, friendly staff and nice new interior. Flake was nice, clearly fresh and well cooked. Dim sims however were kind of soggy... Not crispy at all, and what kind of fish and chip shop doesn't sell seafood sticks?! I assume they cut their menu to try and improve on the other items, but really? Honestly was a decent fish and chip shop, but really nothing overly special.

About time we had a sensational local fish&chip eatery. Fish amazing just a light batter, chips hot & fluffy. Not greasy. Calamari cut with just a fork delish. Price right on the money. Clean & bright & staff polite

Three words: convenient, quality and delicious! I have been here on numerous occasions and every time has been an excellent experience. I am new to the area and have been looking for my local chippy, fantastic steak sandwiches, best chips around and the blokes inside are top notch. He even chucked in a free potato cake (which was fantastic). Will be back on a weekly basis.

About time that someone knows how to make a great burger & chips !!! This shop have been fully renovated buy the new owners. Lovely & clean. You have to try their scollops !! HUGE !! beautiful flake & their potato cakes are the best i've ever had. Good job boys well done.

This place is a delicious fish and chip shop that delivers old school flavours that never disappoint! I've been here a few times now and every time my fish is cooked to perfection... well cooked and crispy! The chips are also to die for. The staff here are always so welcoming and friendly which just adds to the positive dining experience. Seriously nothing to fault!
