Review White Horse Coffee - Sutherland

Whitney Smith
I have the fortnightly coffee bean subscription and it's incredible! I love the variety that they send out. There are little postcards in the bag that tell you about the farm and farmers where the beans were grown. Their customer service has always been really awesome when I've needed to contact someone there.

I have had the coffee subscription for about a year and a half and they have never disappointed me. This subscription is so convenient - good coffee beans at my front door every second week! Affordable price, great beans, express shipping, superb service. Love it!

My partner & I recently stayed in Kiama and came across White Horse Coffee at the Hungry Monkey. We loved the coffee so much, we had to order it for home and haven't regretted it. The hand written notes of appreciation from James are a nice personal touch with each delivery. Keep up the great work, the coffee is out of this world!

The coffee here is awesome, it's my go to coffee shop. I have been coming here to the Flora St shop almost every day since it opened many years ago, the staff always serve with a smile. Occasionally I will try coffee elsewhere, but nothing compares to White Horse.

Dropped in here because I needed a bottle of water. Decided to get a cappacino asw It was in the top three best coffees I've ever had. And I've had a lot. Can't comment on anything else, but service was also very good.

Takeaway coffee so hot it would burn a hole through the centre of the planet....

I ordered the Hi Ho Blend today and boy, was I surprised, a very smooth blend that lingers on the palate. Well done roasters. 5/5.

Coffee was delish and the food was nice. I had a roast cauliflower and hommus toasted sandwich. Something different and it satisfied! The guys working here were really friendly as well!

Great coffee, especially if some of the great barista making it. Some inconsistencies for some baristas. But if you not happy with your coffee, they are really keen to make it right. Very happy overall.

I always get my home espresso coffee from here. Cute little shop with a carefree vibe. Really clean and only serves coffee which is amazing. Only weird thing is that in the 2 years I've been coming here I've never once seen a women working for them. It's not something I usually notice but I have honestly never seen a female working at their Sutherland stores. Not sure why?

No pretense about this place. Great coffee, served without fuss. Good local haunt. About the best in the area. It's just a pity they aren't open on Sunday.

Came across this place by chance and found it to be quite the pleasant drop of coffee. Located just off the main roadway next to Sutherland station.<br/><br/>The service is quite friendly with smiles all round. Updates on your order given verbally through out the wait.

In the sleepy suburb of Sutherland is this surprisingly trendy hipster bar offering friendly, efficient service with coffee and cakes on the menu. The barista was very skilled and delivered my hot beverage in no time.

Happened to drive pass Sutherland and found this little busy cafe. Staff are very friendly and efficient. I've only tried their coffee and I thought was pretty impressive. Will definitely go back to try their food.

It was my first time i come to this coffee shop. It's lil bit far from my home. But it worths to come back . Nice extraction for espresso. Full body taste . Good job !!

Only place where I go for coffee and it is ALWAYS great. They invest in the best baristas and great beans, the service is quick which is a huge bonus if you need to grab and go. Nice sandwiches too.

This place is in a very unassuming quiet suburb and its amazing that this hipster style coffee bar is located there... The coffee is great and very strong and they have a huge following in the shire. I highly recommend.

I absolutely love this place. The boys remember my name and order everyday. The coffee is always perfect. Don't worry about the line if it's busy. It's worth the short wait and it's the best you will get in the shire!

Awesome coffee!. The coffee is so good! Fast and friendly service!

Like the coffee but not the service!. The way people were describing the coffee I thought it was made by god however it didn't live up to the high expectations. The coffee was pleasant however the baristas not so pleasant. What's wrong with smiling at the customer that just handed you money for the product? I would rather go else where, have a good coffee and a smile!

Business plan "sell only coffee", works for me. 4x baristas were very warm and cheerful, I was a bit shocked to read past comments when I logged in to post.

Hit and miss with the coffee. Sometimes brilliant sometimes dreadful. Dependant on the Barista.

Not really a fan. White Horse coffee is ok. It's not terrible, and it's not some sort of magical bean elixir. But you wouldn't know that based on the people who work there, a group of mustachioed try-hards who take their job EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY and enjoy serving you aggressively and as obnoxiously as possible. There are very few achievements in life that justify wearing a fedora at all times indoors like the owner does, and owning a mediocre cafe in Sutherland is not one of them. Go to cafe 2232 or Left Bower across from the station instead if you enjoy being served by normal people instead of weird coffee frat bros.

Amazing!. To die for... go out of my way to get down there when I am up from melbourne!

Kal. It was nothing new in white horse coffee just normal like others
Frances
Couldn't work out if the bad taste in my mouth was left by the coffee or the baristas.

I LOVE WHITE HORSE!!!. I love White Horse coffee and I am not just saying that... I do not by any means consider myself a coffee connoisseur, however as I consume an almost unbelievable amount of it each day, taste remains vitally important. Truth be told... I will only buy 'other' coffee when WHC is closed or I am out of town :)

All boys club?. I've been to White Horse quite a few times. The coffee has always been lovely, but I've never once seen a girl working there, and this I mind a little bit irritating. I've asked about it and always been given really vague answers. Hmmm.. no mistaking white horse? No mistaking sexism either...
Mecriticize
Trendy. The coffee is no better or no worse than others but the word of mouth marketing campaign is very impressive.

Good coffee & Arrogant Barristas. The coffee was nice, but the attitude of the person behind the counter ruined the experience. Too bad.

Great coffee, great service. Really friendly and attentive staff. Very well run cafe. We got a sample and our order delivered to our table quickly despite the place being busy.

Great coffee in the Shire. Having read the good reviews, thought we'd visit on our day trip to the shire. <br/><br/>I can see why white horse is popular. What struck me is how the cafe looks much newer/trendier than the shops surrounding it. I found the coffee nice and strong. We tried the banana bread and a salami toasted panini - simple food done well.

Best Coffee in Sydney. I came in here for the first time on the weekend and ordered an aeropress. It was hands down the best aeropress i've ever had. The guys behind the counter are awesome and they know what they're doing. I just wish they were closer to Bondi. Go here, you won't be disappointed. 5 star coffee.
Kdog
Great coffee. Excellent coffee, super quick service and the boys are always very friendly and bubbly.

Way too busy with not enough places to sit and waaaaaay too noisy. Enjoying coffee with friends is more than just what's in the cup !

Just a note. After a few visits, can safely say that the majority of the shopkeepers here have strange illusions of grandeur. The coffee is good, the people who make it maybe not so.

Best coffee in the Shire. I've been drinking coffee here regularly since it opened, and while there are now a few gourmet coffee places available (not so three years ago) this one is still the best and most consistent.<br/><br/>I can't recall the last time I had a poor coffee here, but when I did it was by a new barista and was replaced instantly with no fuss. they guys are always professional and friendly, and em c, I have been taking a keep cup there for at least 2 years and never had a negative comment on it!

Fantasic Coffee... Let me explain!. I'm a former Coffee professional that made my status in the Specialty Coffee Industry in Portland Oreagon, which is arguably the coffee capital of America.. As a frequent coffee drinker at White Horse Coffee, I have been served amazing coffee.. Like anywhere, I've had a few average brews. But come on! i've had some average brews from World Barista Champions! In an educational lesson in defence of the last 3 reviews given, here is what I would like to elaborate.<br/><br/>Rizzzo- You should definetly make your way back to put different coffees to the trial of your pallet.. There are plenty of coffees out there that almost have an aquired taste, from definitive characteristics that are subjected to years of professional tasting.. Some coffees flavour profile are an instant atraction through there clean, vibrant, balanced characteristics.. Who knows? You may have been served up a coffee that was not to the liking of your pallet at this point of time?<br/><br/>Em c- Keep in mind milk based espresso industry standards state that milk should be (stretched) to 65 degrees. Many espresso bars & cafes don't serve their coffees at the required temperature. Sometimes by choice, but usually this comes down to poor training. Therefore this rebellion of correct beverage preperation may decieve your pallet on what temperature your coffee should be served at! <br/><br/>In my opinion, keep cups do affect the taste! They lose temperature way to quickly, commonly causing imbalance within the cup.. You should definetly respect the opinion of the industry professional, much like they should respect your opinion on the environment. In saying that, from years of working in an espresso bar. 9 out of 10 keep cups would come back unwashed, filthy & dirty.. Now thats unfair and unhygienic! If you care about the environment, you should care about hygene!<br/><br/>Sir Eatalot- Come on man! From the distance of the espresso bar to the park, if the crema of your long black hasn't dispersed, then there is something wrong! Your not always going to get extreme body from the coffees being served! No! White Horse Coffee do not use naked or sawn off portafillters.. Companys that use nakeds and sawn offs are generally poorly educated about coffee and think that coffee has to be served overextracted with heavy body..<br/><br/> Your perception of the staff is a bad one.. Don't mistaken the hard working, I can't talk for long because John Smith behind you in the line also wants a coffee.. And if you hear them yelling at each other from now and then, its beacuse someone in the team isn't pulling their weight.. But they can handle it, because they are professionals!<br/><br/>White Horse Coffee = Great experience for me, time and time again!!
Sir Eatalot
No crema, insipid flavour. Got a takeaway long black espresso and walked to a nearby park near council chambers. When I lifted the lid I was surprised to find absolutely no crema. The flavour bland and insipid. They probably pulled two coffees through the one portafilla fill. So I put that down to an inattentive barista. Most of the counter staff are up themselves.<br/><br/>On a positive note I have bought their beans and they are fresh and provide a nice cup of espresso with good crema and flavour.

Baristas are hit and miss here, sometimes yes the coffee is great, but on quite a few occasions I have been served burnt milk from over steaming, ruining the taste. The guys have also criticised people using keep cups, saying it effects the taste. If I am bothering to carry a cup around with me you are not going to convince me to stop caring for the envoironmnet...your coffee isn't that good to care so much! Trendy shop front and jeans don't make you the best coffee around sorry.
Rizzzo
It was just coffee didn't want more

Perfect! I have a few coffees in one sitting.

Coffee to travel for!. I was introduced to this coffee shop by some locals, & it was instantly apparent what they were raving about. Drinking long blacks, there's nowhere for the barista to hide.<br/><br/>The coffees (I always need more than one!) hit the spot nicely - strong, but not bitter.<br/><br/>I'll certainly be heading this way again soon.

Without a doubt best coffee in the shire. These guys know their stuff and are fast and friendly to boot!
Dom's Review
Ever since Matt and Dom opened their door's to the Public their hasn't been a day us Local's haven't been satisfied, with this iconic, ecclectic, spectacular Social Hub comes a bayeaux of stories and first hand experiences. Inside is the quality over quantity, loyal staff members, Outstanding bean quality, laughs and inside jokes from dom only a true regular could appreciate and extremely personal service, fitted my demand's and expectation's like a glove as did the individually distinct and mesmerizing decor down to each chair my derier had the utmost joy of sitting on, This has made my experience at White Horse thourougly thoughtful and delightful time and time again. I give White Horse, Espresso Bar, Sutherland a 5/5 star rating.

Best coffee in the shire..even better than grind in my opinion. Service is usually pretty quick and coffee never disappoints

Really great coffee. This is our local for coffee and it's our favourite in the area. Always busy so can be hard to get a table sometimes! But the coffee is really smooth and has that chocolatey feel to it. Yum.
