Choux is famous for its macarons, and used to be managed by the celebrated French chef Emannuel Mollois before his sad passing from bone cancer in 2017. It had been a while since our last visit and we decided to pop in for some takeaway afternoon tea following a brunch at the beach. As we arrived, the pastry chef was just transporting a huge and very delicious looking gateau to a client’s car – it looked amazingly good.
A note to anyone who does not eat egg: this wonderful patisserie does a "Joseph Cake" which is a circular mille-feuille type of layered pastry-cake with alternate layers of freshly made choux pastry and vanilla cream (fresh whipped and thickened without gelatine) augmented with fresh berries (raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, strawberry) and which is not too sweet either. This is visually beautiful, large and not too sweet. Has to be pre-ordered. I have ordered it many times and every time it is simply a hit. Not expensive. A true home-made, home-created beauty.
Really friendly service. Everything we had was amazing. No complaints at all. We ordered too much, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but seriously hard not to buy everything in a place like this. My suggestion is share with a friend and try everything!
Lovely french baked goods, coffee pretty mediocre, staff seem interested if quite glib, nice spot to sit out the back. Overall good but seems to have lost a little of its sparkle in the last year ir so

Croissants are yummy! The coffee is good too (they must have changed coffee supplier or coffee machine in the past few months) . Good atmosphere. The staff is quite nice too. If you want to eat a French style croissant or pastry, that's the place!
Amazing ham and cheese croissants! So flaky and buttery! Winner for me! I also ordered the tart of the day - berries tart w/ a shortbread base. Quite sweet for my liking, however I'll defs visit again and try something else on the menu!

Go for the croissants. Avoid the coffee like the plague. but I only buy the croissants. 3 boys, back from surfing, crumbling, crunchy, cheerful. Take them home, fill with butter and jam, enter heaven.

Great macarons - fair price. Butterscotch macaron, enough said. But I'll say a bit more, the mango/lemon/tropical fruity ones are great and moist. Word of warning sometimes, some can be a bit stale, especially in the gift packs (just make up your own gift pack/box). If buying in bulk, probably buy one of each flavour to taste before you commit to a whole bunch.
Cannot thank the chef (Bryan) and staff enough for the amazing effort that was put in to creating the amazing cake and Bonbonniere for our recent wedding. The raspberry mousse cake had guests going back for seconds and the boxes of custom macarons were a beautiful end to the festivities. Amazing care and consideration, recommend Choux Cafe highly for any bespoke catering needs.

Bread products seem very dense but the fine cakes, flans and mousses are stunning.
GiGi. Very friendly staff and Chef. I ordered a Croquembouche for my partner's birthday (which we had to store in the fridge overnight due to our own arrangements) and we and the whole family were very pleased with the result. The pastry was light with just the right amount of crispiness and the filling was tasty and surprisingly, not too sweet at all. The presentation was simple but done with care and precision to ensure the Croquembouche would not crumble or melt even though we had to store it overnight. The name plaque was also done beautifully. We were greeted by the Chef when we went to pick up the Croquembouche. I could tell just how much time and effort he had put into making it by the flour stains on his apron but this did not keep him from smiling and greeting us warmly. My only regret is not leaving enough time to arrive earlier so that we could enjoy a coffee and a little something sweet in the cafe before having to dash off with the Croquembouche.
This cafe is an absolute delight! It's properly French which is quite rare. It has a large selection of cakes in the window which makes for some tough decision making! They're quite expensive but the strawberry tart I had was delish. And finally, some decently priced coffee! It was $3.50 for a really smooth cap. Would definitely recommend!
Fine food with such class and finesse. Classic French café, absolutely fine food with such class and finesse. We live a long way from Choux Café but enjoy every opportunity we have to drive or catch the train there on a Saturday or Sunday morning. We never leave without a baguette take-away.

Extra seating out the back if the sun is shining! The coffee isn't great so stick with tea.
A hidden gem definitely worth the travel. The baguettes are fantastic and the pastries are even better!!!! Miss this little place.
Still the best baguettes in Perth. It always takes me too long to decide what to have here! Today I opted for the chicken and mushroom pie and it was delish :) Well priced at $8.50, but it's difficult to see how heating it up and adding a bit of lettuce on the side adds $2 to the take-away price of $6.50. Ahh well! Get in quick if you want bread because they sell out early.
Amazing. Lovely pies, quiches, desserts, pastry and the best bread in the western suburbs. I come here every Saturday for a cake and they are delicious I recommend the vanilla millefuille.

Why so grumpy?. I was doing work experience just around the corner, so popped in every other day to grab the odd macaron for the train ride home. Honestly, the macarons aren't as good as they used to be.. it wasn't rare to find big air pockets in the shells. And is it just me, or are they getting smaller in size? Poor service from the same lady each time, even though I tried to be polite and friendly to her. Undecided whether I'll be coming back again.

Even though it says cafe on the cover this place is really about the bakery and what comes out of it.
Coffee is a rather old fashioned affair that I thought Perth had moved on from, more Italian than French.
Service is difficult, given the layout of the shop, it just doesn't work well when there is more than one customer.
It's ok, if you're in the area - or if you want a vast selection of very good quality macarons, which seem to be the current fad in Perth.
A little bit of france in perth...yay!. Aafter tackling my trusty map book I managed to find this cute little french patisserie....I watched emmanuel on Poh's Kitchen and when he said his cafe was in perth I nearly exploded!! I was so excited...! The cafe is so cutely tucked away. It was here that I tasted my first macaroon EVER! I had the chocolate plantation macaroon and the pistachio, I also had a long machiato. No other macaroons that I have tasted since have even compared to those from choux cafe...They were amazing! I cant wait to go back again!:)

This cfe has the best French pastries in Perth. If you have not tried their coffee eclaire you are missing out. The cafe is a little too small to be comfortable and enjoy yourself but go in and get your cakes and pastries takeaway. You will not be disappointed.

This place makes me happy :). There are so many things about choux cafe that set it apart from many places in Perth. The prices are reasonable, food is exquisite and authentically Parisian, the courtyard out the back is quaint and I love that it is tucked in a leafy green suburb. The pies are really delicious and melt in your mouth. Only downside is it is so popular, it can be hard getting a seat! Definitely one of my favourite cafes in Perth

I had heard about this cafe from my roommate and we were both really excited to go there! When we arrived there was no line up so with us being excited to look at everything, we took our time. I bought the macaron gift pack, another pastry, his et voila cook book and a latte. The service is what I need to complain about. While I was ordering I felt rushed and that the teller had better things to do than help me. She seemed to get more agitated with each thing I said I wanted to buy!! I ended up spending just under 90$ and I felt like I spent 2$ for the service. I went home and quickly looked through the 45$ cook book to find no macaron recipe and the woman who was so miserable looked to be the famous chefs wife. NOT good for his business if the worst employee is your wife. NOT only have I run into this- since going three days ago, I've heard from two other friends that they too, have felt the same with a particular lady. Hopefully chef can read this and maybe work on customer skills with his employees. High note, my desserts were delightful but I'll pass on coffee
Lovely bake bad coffee. They have a range of french bakes like macaroons, madeline, brioche, baguette etc and also yummy MILK BREAD (be quick they sell well). warning: their coffee is pretty bad, better off picking something from the fridge.
Go in for one macaron and come out with 22. Ooooppps! I stopped in here on my way home from an appointment to grab a quick macaron. I planned to just buy one or two and I accidently bought a few extras!!! On the way home I munched through the Basilic - basil with strawberry jelly. it was to die for!! Better than the macarons @ Jean Pierre Sancho in the city.
Choux..... A small cafe in Swanny that provides a wide variety of fresh french food. It's difficult to get a seat most of the time, so typically take away is the provided option. The baguettes, soup, pastries...no matter what you order is great.
Lovely macarons. Came here for lunch and ordered a pissaladiere. It tasted nice but the middle was a bit cold which was disappointing. The macarons were fantastic though. Will definately be back for them and other sweet treats!
Love this cafe. The savory food is just as delicious as the sweets. I love the roasted vegetable quiche.
LOVE. Ever since coming back from the eastern states I've struggled to find a decent patisserie, especially one with my favourite dessert morsel of all time, macarons! I was recommended this cafe by a friend and I love it so much. I'll drive the 30 minutes there just for the fantastic little macarons with great flavours that are hard to find elsewhere like basil and raspberry or apricot and saffron. Was happy to purchase 80 of them (practically the whole cabinet) as an anniversary gift. Should probably go there soon to order a birthday cake...=P
Superb!!. Great pastries and great customer service. Always worth a drive to pick up a cake to order for any special occasion. Love the exotic basil flavoured macarons. Had truffle macarons too from Choux when they had a stall at Mundaring Truffle Festival! Awesome stuff!!
Best in Perth. Quite simply the best French patisserie in Perth. Made with an absolute artistry and skill, the macarons, petit four and all things sweet are divine. Haven't tried anything savoury but I don't feel the need to...
For my inaugural visit to choux, I can honestly say I was surprised. Taking the narrow pass next the front till takes you to a lovely courtyard that transports you to a really nice place in time. I sampled the brioche and the croissant, both of which were executed with a deft hand. Overall a very pleasant experience and I can't wait to have some of those macarons. Food 8/10 decor 7/10
One of my favourites. Love Choux and all their very naughty but nice pastries and cakes. The only problem is which ones to choose, they are all so good.

Great!!. Visited this lovely cafe on a saturday. it seemed busy inside but there was ample seating in the courtyard.
i had the sausage friand (sausage roll) as well as a pistachio cake (french name escapes me). the sausage friand was nice, but it wasn't amazing. the cake on the other hand was beautiful in presentation and more importantly, flavour. not too sweet and not too rich, it really hit the spot.
my partner had a toasted cheese croque and a lemon rasberry mararon. i luckily shared the croque with him which tasted amazing!! i have never experienced such a lovely 'cheese toastie' before. the ham underneath the cheese was perfectly complementing. the lemon rasberry macaron was quite nice, but not being a huge fan of macarons, not sure what the fuss is about.
would happily have weekend breakfast at choux again!!

Great breads and sweets. Fabulous patisserie. Baguette rivals Jean-Claude's as best in Perth. Blackcurrant macaroon is one of the best I've had ever, anywhere! Worth the trek out to Swanbourne for delicious sweet things.
Just delightful. Probably the best (and most authentic) French bakery in Perth. I've never had something here that I didn't like. The only problem is that everyone else likes it too, so getting a table (or waiting to be served if you're taking away) can be a bit challenging. However, it's worth it in the end. Laduree is my pinnacle of French baking, and Choux Cafe is definitely a more than respectable Perth equivalent.
Wow, yes, absolutely the best Patissier in Perth. I had to try the goodies here after Master Patissier Emmanuel Mollois' reputation at Le Paris Brest in the Hills and being given his cookbook ("Et Voila").
What can I say.. the BEST brioche and almond croissants, pan au chocolat, and fresh danishes with fig or raspberry or abricot, little cakes and tarts,skinny French baguettes (La Parisien) and not of least but his macaroons are of the highest grade and so many flavours, yes, I thought I was back in Paris! Oh such a treat! Come for a lunch or breakfast, don't forget there is seating out the back too.. The only bad thing is the bunching up to order to pay at the register - however, it's worth it for the beautiful items.
THE best pastries in Perth. Pity it's not around the corner from me, because the coffee reminds me of france and the pastries are authentic. focus is on quality and the staff are very friendly.

This little French deli ticked the boxes. The Beef Bourgugnon pie had large chunks of slow cooked beef encased in a crumbly buttery pastry. The espresso I had wasn’t too bad either. We had to try a macaron having been happy with our successful journey to date.
The sausage roll was accompanied with a small serving of salad greens. The pastry was flaky and buttery and the meat inside soft and juicy. Of course, no sausage roll is complete without tomato sauce.
Afternoon tea at Choux cafe. The Pissaladière with tomato, goat cheese and basil pesto was amazing!

I returned to Choux Cafe for a Saturday afternoon treat(s). Today there were a few new macaroon flavours and layered cakes. I could smell the cookie dough as we passed the kitchen and took our seats under the umbrella out the back. I love this place! Just like Nonna's!

I didn’t care much for the tarte du jour but the jools was fantastic! I absolutely loved the strawberry mousse center which was light and airy and full of flavour. It was a lovely late afternoon snack.
A household name. So if you are ever in the suburb and looking around for a hangout spot, definitely try out Choux Café.
On the wall of Choux Cafe, there are heaps of newspaper and magazine article about chef Emmanuel, and of course he is most famous for his pastries.
Absolutely fantastic. The coffee was lovely and the desserts were delicious! Reminded us of the local patisserie from my girlfriend's home town. The staff were very friendly and super helpful in aiding us in making our selection. Will definitely be back to try all the other desserts on offer!!

As a french person I can say the bread and pain au chocolat and croissant are very good. Nice little place but not many tables inside. You can leave your dog outside.

Tragically it seems like Choux has closed. Please come back somewhere guys! Best croissants ever and super staff and venue. Shame this covid business is terrible. Will miss you

Blueberry Pastisserie was light and fluffy, not too sweet or heavy. Cappuccino was mild. Beautiful selection of patisseries and cakes.
