My absolute favourite restaurant in Sydney. Amazing food, top service, I take all my friends and they love it.
The staff and the owner Marc are so wonderfully attentive, enjoy the service and ensure you have a good time. There is nothing that stands out, because it's ALL so delicious. I'm the kind of person that doesn't like returning to the same place multiple times because I like to try new things, but I can't stop eating here.
Amazing! Gluten free eat your heart out... fabulous entrees , try the snails! They are delicious we also had the tartare... words cannot do it justice!
the main we had was to share and the meat was like butter it melted in our mouthes... try their cocktails we had a few and each were tasty and fresh! For dessert my favourite a creme brulee and it didn't dissapoint.. This place is hidden in plain site... must visit for french food in sydney. We loved it and will return!
Great place, delicious food and wine, friendly, fun & professional staff - Pop up cabaret upstairs a must for those who appreciate top quality talent - Sydneysiders and travellers alike a must visit!
Most beautiful restaurant in Sydney. Incredible food, stunning decor and the French staff gives you the feeling you have been transported to Paris for the evening. Highly recommend!
Thank you for making my partners Maria Camilleri's 65th birthday celebration a great night
The food & service was fantastic & Maria was over the moon.
You guys know how to put it on would recommend to anyone having a celebration or just a dinner for 2
Always a fantastic place to stop by for a couple of Claire de Lunes (vodka based cocktail) before my Cigare d'Agneau Marocaine. Never anything less than a warm greeting, super service and usually an interesting artiste on stage upstairs mid-week. Oh and this place dishes up a gorgeously wobbly cheese souffle!
My favourite restaurant in Sydney! Food is always incredible, it feels like you’ve stepped into a venue off the streets of Paris. The duck pie and the escargot are my favs! Their steak, truffle potato, seafood dishes ugh, just divine!
I have been here on a number of occasions and and always leave smiling. Friendly, elegant, yet still cosy and the food is delightful. Highly recommended especially if you can get a booking when Mary Kiani or Shauna Jenson are singing. Still smiling!
My husband and I went to Claire's for our anniversary; the service and food was impeccable! So much attention was given to us by the staff and the food was delicious and well presented! Can't wait to go back again and sample more of the menu! Thanks again for a lovely evening.
He is great ! His food So Devine I actually melt my mouth !
His performances the whole course - 100
Great friendly staff & management. Terrific food and wonderful entertainment!!!!
Loved the atmosphere , staff and amazing food . Today’s celebrations for Maria Venuti was wonderful , well done guys and gals . Bravo to you all . Will defiantly be coming back .
We reserved a table here for my wife’s surprise birthday party for 4 and they didn’t disappoint. The dining room was bright and elegant and the staff were very welcoming and professional across the board.
The only option that evening was a set menu (with options on all courses) for $85 which consisted or an Entree, Main and Dessert (or a cocktail in replacement of the dishes).
We had spent $185 the night before at a shockingly bad dinner at The Bentley Restaurant and Claire’s kitchen was a standout in every department.
The entree of Steak Tartare came deconstructed with the elements finely positioned around the diced beef cubes. The waiter mixed them together along with the egg yolk to become a nicely balanced dish of richness and tanginess to match. It was perfect and the envy amongst other on the table. The three cheese souffle was light and rich and was the recommended dish by the waiter and the Dome of smoked salmon was perfectly accompanied by the crab and celeriac remoulade served with avocado dressing and brioche crouton.
The mains were a beef affair with Braised beef cheeks, red wine sauce; Beef tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto and Beef fillet, flambéed in cognac, with green pepper and cream sauce. All cooked to perfection in all the glory of classic French sauces that should not be understated here.
The desserts we chose the French pastry, a chocolate mousse, a crème brûlée. A perfect way to end the meal and all beautifully presented. They also wrote ‘Happy Birthday’ on the plate in French with beautiful hand writing along with a sparkler.
What must be highlighted is that although this was a fixed menu price, every dish that came was not reduced in size as other restaurants would. Each dish that arrived stood out on it’s own as if you had ordered it individually from the menu in terms of presentation and size.
The light hearted approach by staff made this French dining experience very warm and relaxed almost understating the excellent food that was made without compromise. We will definitely be back to one of the best quality and value French restaurants in Sydney.
Fantastic venue for our anniversary. Staff friendly and very attentive. Food top notch! We'll be back
We visited Claire’sKitchen at Le Salon to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The venue was busy but service was attentive. The food was very impressive. We were all pleased with the dishes we ordered. A return visit is in order.
This is by far the best restaurant in Sydney. It is the perfect fine dining experience with reasonable prices. The service is always superb. Every steak we have we compare to Claire's, which is just amazing.

There’s a collective intake of breath in the intimate dining room when everyone opens their menus. Fanning out like piano accordions, each menu’s glowing white light captures guests’ faces in a state of childlike wonder as they scratch their heads and wonder what it is they’re meant to eat. Eat the pages of the menu? It’s rather absurd, but then so is the nonsensical and satirical movement Le Salon DadA is based upon. Being familiar with Marc Kuzma’s work at El'Circo at Slide, I entered Claire’s Kitchen at Le Salon with a fair idea of what to expect...
Chocolate mousse is a must must try . Loved the ambiance of this place. One of the best places for a great dining experience. Loved the food. They offer variety of food choices , you would love to try all.
French born Marc Kuzma AKA Claire de Lune, has created a traditional French Brasserie menu with a few modern twists. Claire has decorated the venue with fabulous imported wall papers, antiques and chic furniture. Business partner, Valentin has hand picked a team of charming professional french waiters and waitresses... Upstairs is le salon, a cosy private mezzanine, you can reserve exclusively for up to 50 guests for sit down dinner or up to 80 for a cocktail party. "Bringing a little French style to the Paris end of Oxford street"
The invitation from Claire's Kitchen reads "Whimsical, lavish, eccentric, imaginative, join us for an evening of surrealist, fashion, theatre, food and deviant art. le SALON Dada, Liberate the IMAGINATION" with support from the City of Sydney, Claire's Kitchen is hosting a series of pop up dinners with a twist.
I love all kinds of cuisine, and French Cuisine would be amongst the top of my list. Claire’s Kitchen at Le Salon would have to be one of my favourite French Restaurants in Sydney.
Excellent food. But we were being treated. Very Large portions especially for the extra veg salad, chips, green beans. Excellent dressing on the salad. Dessert to die for. All cake based, and supper moreish. Coffee really tasty as well. Prompt serving. Easy to find as long as you get the right district
.
Came here for dîner, tried the Canard et Croûte. Duck with pinot noir jus in a puff pastry pie. Trés Délicieux! Service was also fantastic. All around great dining experience
I absolutely love this place! This place has amazing food that is very pleasurable, The atmosphere is fun and the staff are extremely pleasant, and our table really enjoyed our night here. I look forward to going back.
One of the best dessert places. Nice ambience for conversations and celebrations. The food was good but not great. Visited a couple of times.
Good food and wine. Interesting menu. Area for improvement is service; not terribly but seems like staff were new or not trained. Duck pie was very good!
I've literally passed this place almost everyday on the way to uni, and decided to finally come here with BW. I feel like this is one of those 'hidden gems' in Sydney, where you can get authentic French food without it being too expensive. Of course, French food is cheaper in France haha. This place has got a more 'romantic' feel without being overly priced, with ambient lighting and many tables for 2, plus a candlelight on each table which I thought was cute.
Food were exceptional, stuffs were friendly. Had scallops and triple cheese souffle were amazing, looks simple yet not easy to make.
Main course were salmon and beef tenderloin.
The dinner atmosphere here were excellent. The meals were quite good too. When I chose my dessert, they even offered samples for me to try first. The experience was beyond my expectation.
There's a hint of vintage old fashion era in this restaurant. If you're an old soul, you'll definitely love it here.
The moment you step your foot inside, you feel like you're suddenly in the 1920's which I absolutely love! My husband brought me here for my birthday and I was really impressed about everything. It was only my second French restaurant experience and i love in this one. There's an elegant touch to this place, a sophistication that radiates to the whole place. I loved it.
We had the soup and the steak tartar for entree, and quail and steak for the mains. Nothing I could fault, everything was made to perfection. This is just my own opinion as I am no expert especially in French cuisine, but every bite is a love. Then there's comes the dessert, there's a whole selection of different types of sweets in a tray handed to you by waiter for you to choose any. I chose the Sorbet served with French macaron with Grand Marnier ice cream. Absolutely loved this! so refreshing and beautifully made!
I would love to come here again, maybe for our anniversary next time!
Absolutely one of the best places I've eaten at recently. Staff were all really friendly and helpful but unobtrusive, loved the decor and atmosphere, soft lighting and the whole thing. Food was excellent, all up we had a great night and will be back.
Went on Tuesday night, it's a quiet place to have dinner with your date. The waiter noticed when we finished our entree and fill up the water for us, much much better than some other place that you have to tell them to so. The food i can say it's 4/5, only the beef is little bit more cooked than i asked as Medium, but still tasty. (Maybe the presentation can be more creative? That would be an extra point :P) Will come back again to try their Scollops.
Food is amazing. The beef, escargots, beef tartare, quail with fois gras and lamb shoulder is perfect. One of the best French restaurant I've tasted in Sydney. Service was excellent too...
Such a really elegant space. Almost palatial with a beautiful bar and sitting area downstairs and dining room upstairs. The venue for the Team Sydney fundraising event for the Paris 2018 Gay Games, it was in keeping with the French theme for the evening.
Menu this evening:
3 baked Cheese shuffle
Duck Liver parfait with grape chutney and crispy melba toast
French onion soup with Gruyere croton
A gluten free mains selection of:
Atlantic salmon and prawn roulade with leek and peas risotto, crab beurre blanc
Fillet of beef chateaubriand with potato mash, green beans and béarnaise sauce
free range chicken paupiette with wild mushroom ductile and creamy morel sauce
For dessert a combination platter of mini salted caramel eclair, choc fondant passion fruit tartlet, macaron and mini brûlée
Great food, top notch service and wonderful evening!
Claire's kitchen has one of the best restaurant service i've ever been to. The staff was very friendly and nice.
Ordered the escargot, and it was beautifully cooked. For the main course we ordered the duck with the pastry and the steak. The duck portion was quite big, the taste was ok.
To begin with I am not too keen on French cuisine and hardly ever venture into the territory, but Claire’s Kitchen was an exception and a risk I was willing to take. After all, a rating like this doesn’t come from nothing. The evening started off wonderfully as the staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming and service was on point in all aspects.
To start, we were informed of some cocktail specials and no joke, each and every one sounded just like my cup of tea, but as I was not up for a lot of alcohol, went for a boring mocktail instead. It was actually rather lacklustre and more like a fruit (namely apple) juice instead. However, a sip of the old fashioned and I concluded it was one of the best, if not the best, I’ve tried. Perhaps it was due to the more than usual fragrant orange which made it go down smoother. Whatever it was, it went down a treat with the snails.
As mentioned we had the snails and one of the entrée specials – blue swimmer crab bisque. I had never tried snails before, always avoiding it even if the opportunity presented itself, but was there with an open mind and heart, so gave it a go. Glad I did as it was quite lovely and a great introduction to the dish. Quite garlicky without being overly buttery. If the same specials menu comes out, I highly recommend the bisque de crabe, which is also served with steamed cockles, mussels and king prawn. It was a beautiful dish with perfectly cooked seafood, and it reassured me I was not about to face a night of heavy, overly buttery/creamy dishes which was what I had feared.
With a pleasant end to the first course, we eagerly waited for the second, and it finally came out after what felt like an eternity. This is where it went a little downhill. The lamb sounded reliable enough; roast lamb rump, spinach, heirloom carrots and black garlic, but it was a strange dish and probably not to everyone’s taste. The lamb was chewy and the sauce almost tasted like licorice which was slightly off-putting. The other flavours didn’t add much more and as a whole dish required a lot to get used to, and even then it was unfinished which was a shame. The chickpea crepe was enjoyable enough, but not anything new from what you’d expect. It was heavy which was somewhat predicted, but didn’t change the fact I found it difficult to get through. To be honest, I only expected a little more (or different) considering it’s a lot more costly than other crepes. The green beans were not too bad of a side, but also nothing special. I think it was more bad choice than anything, and could have really been turned around with the right one.
I was pretty bloated after this, and perhaps a little let down by the struggle with the mains, that I wanted to skip dessert (also not much of a sweet tooth). However, a platter was brought around showing us all the desserts available for the night, and I suppose we are sheep as that’s all the convincing it took for us to act like normal people and at least get one to share. Many a dessert was explained but I was pretty fixated on one from the get-go (one reason; because it was pretty) and was sold as soon as I heard ‘our signature’. It was some sort of orange and chocolate combo which I am usually not a fan of (gosh it sounds like I’m a ridiculously picky eater but I swear it’s mainly just overly oily/heavy and sweets), but this was quite nice! The ice cream which came with was the major plus though, as was the pretty plating.
Safe to say it was a bit up and down, but overall a smooth night as the ambience and service were largely positive additions which made up for the couple of dishes. As I mentioned, it seems we just went with the wrong choices as everyone else seemed to be more than satisfied with every dish that touched their table.
Fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed, the wait staff were professional and brilliant. The food = out of this world 10/10 would come back again :)
It's a good place to hangout with friends, and the overall atmosphere is nice. However, I think the flavour of the cheese soufflé and duck pie was a bit heavy for us, so drunk lots of water and made us feel full quickly. But the snapper was quite tasty.
What a beautiful French restaurant, exceeded my expectations, absolutely beautiful food, service and ambiance!! I had called ahead to ask about Vegan options and I spoke to a lovely man who assured me they will have beautiful vegan options prepared for me, I was very excited for this!
We started with drinks, I ordered a Claire de Lune, which was really good! We also had Limoncello, which apparently was beautiful and refreshing (would have tried but it had egg white).
For entree, I had what seemed to be a deconstructed roast vegetable salad. I wasn't sure of the name as it was not on the menu but they should add this quick smart because it was wonderful. The vegetables were roasted beautifully and the tomato based sauce that accompanied it was out of this world!
My friends had escargot and duck liver parfait, respectively. Their comments were that the escargot was beautiful with a fantastic garlic butter but she did have better ones in France and the duck liver parfait was really beautiful.
Main Course for me consisted of a Mushroom Risotto, which was really good! The risotto was just a tad underdone as there was quite a few crunchy bits. But the mushroom was really well cooked and the pumpkin 'chips' on top were also really nice.
My friends had The duck 'pie' and the quail special. Apparently the brie didn't overpower the duck, that there was a great combination of flavours but it was very very heavy. The quail was really well cooked and delicious but it was a bit small for a main meal.
The service was absolutely brilliant, our waitress was so lovely and really nice about my dietary needs and I was so grateful for that.
All in all a wonderful experience with great food and fantastic service. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions to come here with your family and friends!
Fabulous atmosphere, it's closed off from the busy street and has a great ambience inside. The waiters are all French and very lovely. For our food we ordered:
- cheese soufflé: this is a must have entree, one of the better cheese soufflés I've had and you must order it if you come here!
- tuna trio: nice but the flavours were not very strong, I wouldn't order again
- duck pie: yum yum yum. This dish is so rich and delicious, someone needs to order it at the table. The amount of flavour packed in was amazing I really loved it, it is of course quite heavy to eat
- duck confit: so delicious with the goats cheese stuffed dates, I enjoyed this meal but would have liked more duck. And perhaps if the duck was a bit softer it would have been better, however the flavour combination was fantastic
- orange and chocolate dessert: quite a light dessert served with orange ice cream and a macaron
- creme brûlée: this was the best dessert I tasted. It was a date creme brûlée, very creamy and I loved the addition of melted dates in it!
- blood orange sorbet: served with Persian fairy floss and drizzled with grey goose vodka, tasty and fresh (so cold though!)
Overall, a charming and delicious night. I would return again for the service, food and atmosphere.

Went to Claire's kitchen a while back and dug up these photos. A classy, inner city restaurant, offering quality French cuisine. We have been here twice and both times, we left satisfied and content. The dishes were full of flavour, and left us wanting more and more. We loved the French decor inside the restaurant, and the service was great too. Must try if ever in Darlinghurst, looking for a delicious meal!
Fantastic atmosphere and food here. The escargot was flavoured nicely, the duck pie was absolutely beautiful and the quail was done quite well. The creme brûlée was very tasty as well - definitely recommend this place, especially for dates.
Went here post dinner for dessert on a friend's recommendation.
Loved how we were presented with a massive platter of desserts to choose from instead a regular, boring menu!
All the desserts were awesome but the highlight was the accompanying Grand Marnier ice cream scoop with each of them - that was too good!
The best part of this restaurant is the wonderful food and service. Not cloying but attentive. Fine dining with ample portions, without giving you nouveau cuisine that doesn't fill you. The menu is mouth watering and it is hard to choose but either way you won't be disappointed. The worst parts are it's a really bad name and it's so dirty in the street around this part for such a nice welcoming place.
Otherwise it ticks all the right boxes. Thanks for a great night!
A highly recommended restaurant for your to-do list, the venue was so elegant with great lighting and the food was simplistic yet so delicious. My favourite was the Traditional French Snails. The service was extremely friendly I even got to test my French with the staff! If anyone is interested in brushing up on their French language skills, I really recommend these ladies: bit.ly/frenchclassez. I found their classes so worthwhile and gave me the skills necessary to order my meals in French!
Excellent meal, service and decor. A great dinner for a group or intimate dinner. Great dining experience! Thank you for a little taste of France!
Delightful night catching up with a friend. The interiors are chic and elegant. Quite romantic mood lighting. Service was friendly and attentive. Our waiter was happy to make suggestions like saving our bread for the snail butter.
For entree we shared the snails and the duck liver pate. Big proportions and nice flavours. I had the whiting with clams. W had the quail. Both quite tasty though not as exceptional as entree.
For dessert they bought out a large platter of choices and then served it on a plate with fruits afterwards. Was quite full so decided to skip dessert. Maybe next time.
High Quality French Cuisine that is worth the price
Every month a group of friends and I try a different restaurant. We go to different suburbs, different food styles, different pricing levels etc.
Claires Kitchen has AMAZING staff who were so on the top of things that we were all left praising our waitress, and leaving a large tip.
Our waitress was there when we needed her, knew who ordered which meal without having to ask when it was brought to the table, had water ready when we were low and booze without delays.
Now lets talk food. WOW
The menu isnt huge but I love that as it means what they have is done to perfection.
I personally got the Piotrine De Pork and let me tell you the flavours were a delight with every element complimenting the next.
I did taste a few of my friends meals , as we were all happy with everything and wanted others to taste the amazing food we each had.
Yes the food is a little pricey but you really feel happy to pay it because every aspect was faultless in my eyes. The Food, the service and the atmosphere.
I wish I knew this place earlier! Located in a convenient location on Oxford street close to the city, this little French restaurant amaze me! The décor is elegant and simple, and the service was warm and attentive. It's a smart casual restaurant that offers quality food without the fuss of a fine dining restaurant. Food: The cheese soufflé is a must try for cheese lover, the three way tuna brings out the special flavour of the fish in three different ways. The The snails was yummy and lighter compare to the ones baked with cheese in other restaurants. steak tartar was nice too.For mains, the Chateaubriand was super tender. My sister is a pie lover and she love the duck pie there. The lamb was also good! We couldn't resist the desserts from the trolley but they were also very yummy! I especially enjoyed the blood orange sorbet with vodka, after a full meal! Will I go back again? Yes, None of the dish that I order disappoint me, I will go back and try the rest of the menu!
Very nice and quiet place to dine at, customer service was exceptional the staff there have a deep knowledge of the french culture. Food was a delight to eat worth every dollar I paid for.
I had the duck pie and it was comfort food at its best. My partner had the Tasmanian beef which was cooked to perfection. We both struggled to finish out mains following the starters even though there was a bit of a wait between the dishes. We had the Mont Blanc for dessert. It was nothing spectacular.
Everything about my experience at Claire's was exquisite - the atmosphere, the staff, the food and the wine. They were trying out part of their new menu and the salmon terrine was lovely. I then had the duck pie, and sadly the generous portion combined with my inability to leave gorgeous food on the plate meant I had no chance to try the tempting looking desserts. Highly recommended. There was nothing to fault, not a single detail, and that is quite amazing.

What is there to say that hasn't already been said ?, this place from the moment you walk I. To the moment you leave must have amongst the most courteous of staff, polite and accommodating just makes the experience that more enjoyable.
The food is fantastic from the entrees to the desserts, all presented in wonderful patterns with flavours bursting at the seems. The French have a winner here
We had a very good dinner here last week before Valentine's Day. We got the scallops as an entree, had the snapper and the lamb as mains, and then a chocolate brownie which came with ice cream and macarons for dessert. The wait staff was very nice and knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations. The food did take a little while to come out, but it was fine as we had a good bottle of wine to work on while we waited. Great spot for a date.
Eat here and don't avoid the dessert range! Authentic and lovely service. Educated waiters who know food pairing. Such a lovely experience.
You can't fault this place.. Amazing entree, mains and desserts. Along with great accompanied wines. I took my girlfriend here for a romantic dinner and from the outside on Oxford at I had my doubts. But inside was amazing. This place sits at the top for service and food in Sydney. Bon Appetite !!
Decor was beautiful with a very French feel. We were seated near the fake fireplace (I'm not sure how I feel about fake things).
The wait staff were all very nice and attentive.
The food was very good and very well presented, however, the steak tartare could have been more finely chopped and duck was a bit tough (would have been nice to get a sharper knife maybe).
Overall, would still return.
I took my friend here for his 40s birthday. The restaurant is located at top end of Oxford street near Hyde Park. In contrast to the seedy surroundings, the restaurant itself was very elegantly decorated. My friend started with onion soup for entree and I had cheese soufflé. I never had French onion soup before and didn't know what to expect, it was really good. My cheese soufflé was even better, so fluffy and creamy! For main I had duck pie, it was flavorsome but a bit dry. I don't eat pork belly so didn't try my friend's main course. We had 5 drinks between two of us and the bill was just under $200. I managed to redeem $50 Dimmi voucher here as well.
friendly staff, great ambience. it presents food in a delicate way. we orded snail and duck liver & tasted bread for entrees, tasmanian beef and duck for mains and creme brulee for dessert. the beef is just so so, a beef steak with smash potato. the duck tastes good, little like peking duck flavor. the dessert is wonderful
My wife and I dined at Claires on a recent visit to Sydney and had a great dining experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was spot on across all courses. I always hate restaurants that don't leave the wine bottle on the table for us to help ourselves. This is always the big test with other places because they take the bottle and forget to replenish an empty glass. But, with Claires, this was not a problem because our glasses were never empty. I would highly recommend Claires to anyone.

Overall fantastic - highly recommend. We were around 30 mins late (note: parking is a nightmare on a Saturday night) and we were still welcomed warmly.
Aperitif selection is a blend of classic and creative ... with a little twist.
Entrees we selected were snails and the crepe - both terrific although small oversight with appropriate cutlery for the snails being forgotten.
Mains we selected were the duck pie and lamb. Both terric - both very generous (and slightly overwhelming) portion sizes given there are also side dishes.
Dessert we selected were the jaffa delice and the passionfruit dessert. Both came with a macaroon ... nice touch ... but it certainly didn't compliment my jaffa delice. The bitterness of the chocolate and the tang of the orange was tied nicely together with fresh berries and a coulis so the super-sweet caramel macaroon was out of place.
Overall - wonderful restaurant that I highly recommend. Great atmosphere, wonderful food, outstanding staff and not at all pretentious.
3 courses, martini and bottle of wine was $220 so very reasonable.
I was tempted to try this out since it has a legendary rating. The atmosphere was good, but it is not to the extend of a formal fine dining. It's like not too casual but not too fine. One thing that i must compliment is the food! We had escargo for entreé and it was soo gooddd, me and my bf had a dozen of those but it doesn't seem to be enough. We finished it in about 5 mins only! Another entree we had was cheese soufflé, which i claim to be just alright. I had a pork cutlet for my main and my bf had the lamb shank. Both of them was so incredibly delicious, every bite was so worth it. By the way the pork cutlet is their new menu, make sure that you try it out :) To sum up, each of us had one dessert from the trolley and its just alright. Not as good as what we expected since they haven such a good hand on their entreè and mains.
Wonderful french food, great for date night or for a big function. Impeccable service, this place runs like a well oiled machine, but still personal and friendly. Food is delicious, well executed french.
With a huge range of traditional bistro dishes on their menu, as well as French aperitifs and digestifs, served by adorable young mostly French-speaking staff, Claire’s Kitchen has a rather nice feeling of authenticity. And the food is very, very delicious. I’ve been here twice so far, and can recommend each dish I tried: the charcuterie plate (with a generous amount of homemade crackers), the delicious light and tall cheese soufflé, the lamb cutlets.
Superb, fantastic. Service was excellent and food very very good. Great value and unpretentious. Duck liver parfait up there with Te best I've had. We will be back.
Absolutely love this place! Service was warm and welcoming. Came here for a Valentine's Dinner and had an amazing experience. Prices were quite average for a higher end restaurant but not in the fine dining category. Serving sizes were sufficient. Their signature duck pie is a must try as it was buttery and flaky on the outside and the interior had a rich, saucy wine sauce with juicy tender and moist bits of duck. Perfect. I enjoyed the lovely silky well seasoned Pate, the steak was succulent and the cheese soufflé - divine! Cheesy rich goodness. All in all their food is decadent and worth the prices and the decor is classy, elegant and intimate. Will need to come back!
We had such a fun night out at Claire's Kitchen. The wait staff were as delectable as the food, with their gorgeous French accents making us want to roll over on our backs and purr. And the free floor show was just so entertaining, as the owner's fabulous drag queen friends celebrated upstairs. Think Priscilla Queen of the Desert meets French Houlala and you will get the vibe.
Came here for our anniversary dinner. Staff are friendly and helpful. Ordered mussels, duck liver parfait, steak and pan fried snapper. The parfait was very rich and we couldn't finish it. Don't miss the dessert trolley!
I’d wanted to go to Claire’s Kitchen since I walked past it on my first week in Sydney. My chance came late in February when Dimmi was doing a last minutes special on a Tuesday and I had scored a discount on the bill. They had a steak on the menu but it was an eye fillet and didn’t sound as appetising as the special of the day, a pork trio plate, it was made up of Prosciutto wrapped loin, roasted pork belly and boudoin noir aka black pudding, they were all tied together with Apple, both chunks and puree, Sorrel and artichoke chips.
Escargots are nice and great with some bread. Served still in the shell, I found using the tongs, a little too fiddly and as they cooled down a little, I ended up just using my fingers to hold them in place. I saw a table being served their scallops and it looked amazing and the bowl of salad for their mains, was very generous. We had the chateaubriand and it was superb. The beef was juicy, tender and came with 3 small sides. Plenty for 2 people to share. Great place for dinner, with pretty good service, and on a side note, the bathroom was very stylish and clean.
Fabulous French. A great addition to Oxford Street. It serves authentic French food just like you would find on a trip to France. The restaurant is spacious and spread out over two levels.
French food, s'il vous plait !! I love french food, period. Hard to find something comparable to Paris... But there are several dishes at Claire's Kitchen that I absolutely adore! -- The Decor -- Nice and simple decor with soothing music French style chairs ? -- The Food -- Sourdough bread with butter (complimentary) Bread was hard on outside with soft inside... almost like a baguette but actually a sourdough ... the butter was quite soft and flavoursome Gravlax de saumon Home cured Atlantic Salmon, Kipfler potato, avocado, lime and vodka creme fraiche ... The flavours were not well balanced ... I don't think each element complimented each other ... Crepe Bretonne Aux Cepes French Crepe with wild mushroom, gruyere cheese and mushroom jus YUMO !! Super liked this crepe ... all the elements went well together Super tasty ... the mushrooms were pan fried in butter ... the light salad on the side balances out the strong mushroom jus flavour! Bravo ~~ !! Poisson du Barry Pan Fried Barra
White table cloths, dim lighting, art deco interior, jazzy tunes, the place stays true to its ‘brasserie’ roots rather than abuse it with a rowdy pub-like environment. As we were ushered to our tables, I could hear the wait staff speaking in French. Finally, I thought, a proper French restaurant.
...a great set of entrees that left high expectations for mains which certainly did not disappoint either.
Junee Gold rack of lamb with herb crust served with gratin Dauphinois and roasted garlic jus, $38. 1/2 dozen Traditional French snails in garlic, parsley and Cognac butter, $14. Braised Limerick free range pork belly served with Puy lentils and drizzled with beetroot reduction. $36. Duck and Pinot Noir pie with melted brie under the puff pastry crust, $36. Thrilmere free range chicken braised in Burgundy wine with pearl onion, speck, button mushroom served with parsley potato, $36. Onion soup of the day, $18. Desserts of the day, $18(OMG) each with a serving of vanilla bean ice-cream. Chocolate coffee custard eclair and vanilla bean ice-cream. Of all dishes we had that night, the one that stood out from the rest was definitely the duck pie. The rest were fairly simple dishes but made superbly. Desserts were absolutely delicious with a wide selection but costed a whooping $18! As great as the food tasted, Claire’s Kitchen is definitely on the more expensive side for me. Personally, thi
...catching up over some Escargots, French crepes and Canard en croute in a dimly lit room, decadent French decor, chandeliers and antiques at Claire’s Kitchen at Le Salon.
You walk in, and it’s like you’ve stepped into a French bistro, which it kinda is actually, so that works out quite nicely. “Le Menu” is displayed prominently at the door – you can turn away now if nothing takes your fancy. But of course, that’s not going to happen.
Jugernauts.com | Dinner at CK was an easy fantastic dining experience. Everything about the meal was outstanding – from the top tier service to the excellent food to the venue which was just classy enough without feeling too stuffy. Great food and great service. Happy to head back here anytime.
Claire's Kitchen has a bar upstairs, the service is amazing, and the food is equally as wonderful. It does come at a price of about $50pp including drinks.
Umms and ahhs, and many lovely comments throughout the meal - this was definitely a dinner to remember.
Chef Claire is turning out classic French food, pitched a bit more haute than plain old cuisine bourgeoise but without all the fussiness of modern Michelin-starred cooking. This is a good thing.
Here they serve comfort French bistro food with a modern touch. I have a soft spot for scallops and the scallops here are so succulent and beautifully cooked - incredibly delicious with the sweet pumpkin puree and appetising shallots and micro herbs .
Classic French. With its moody lighting, lush interiors and hearty food, Claire's Kitchen is a welcome sanctuary from the chaos on Oxford Street. We opted to share several entrees and mains, picking from a menu of classic French and mod-oz food. To start, we had the snails, scallops and the daily special of Tahitian salad which was a refreshing ceviche-style salad. The salad, though not especially French, was unique and the use of coconut water in the ceviche gave it a summery tropical twist. Scallops were beautifully cooked and presented with different textures from the pumpkin puree and garnishing. The snails were probably the weakest of the lot as the butter sauce was pretty bland. The mains were the duck pie and chateaubriand. They were very generous servings - the pie could probably feed 2 people as it was very rich and the beef, 3. We loved the flaky, light pastry on the pie which complemented the hearty, full-flavoured duck filling made richer with pinot noir. The chateaubriand arrived as 8 large slabs of meat with green beans and truffled mash. The meat was beautifully pink and easy to slice through. We were absolutely stuffed at the end of the meal but when that dessert tray came out, we were tempted into getting a slice of lemon meringue pie and the creme brulee. The creme brulee, studded with armagnac prunes, was definitely the winner in this round. Overall we had a lovely night at Claire's Kitchen thanks to the good food and in no small part, the professional yet friendly service. The second floor has larger tables so this is a great spot for groups as well.
Outstanding. I'm so impressed with this little gem. The food, service and ambiance is what you'd expect from a French Restaurant. All the wait staff speak with a french accent which only enhances your experience.
I've been here twice in the last 3 months, once for a normal dinner and then for a function I organised for a group dinner of 12 people. Marc was excellent to deal with and then executed the actual night perfectly.
I really love this place x
Out of this world food and the service is the best in Syndey!! Highly recommend!
What an amazing experience. Claire's truly surpassed any expectation we had & more. The canard en croute was a celebration with every mouthful & the desert "trolley" a revelation in patisserie bar none. The staff were attentive & delightful. A truly memorable evening. Merci!!
Feed her here. A trip to Oxford Street is a rarity for me these days as it is to find an elegant French bistro cheek by jowl (so to speak) with The Toolshed and the "Lick Her Here" bottlo.
Claire's Kitchen at Le Salon sits discreetly behind a veil of gauzy curtains shielding the well-heeled patrons from the rougher trade of the street. The dining room is tastefully furnished with art nouveau paintings on the walls, linen tablecloths and smartly dressed waitstaff. It is pleasant to have a high standard of service without paying the earth for it.
The dining space seems to go on forever, leading to a narrow staircase to an upper bar and entertainment area that was closed the night I went there. However, the downstairs restaurant was well patronised for a Tuesday evening.
The reviews on urbanspoon seem overwhelmingly positive and I enjoyed the experience without being totally convinced by the cuisine which is firmly rooted in French tradition and resistant of modern fripperies.
We started with crusty French bread and butter (complimentary), seared confit Atlantic salmon terrine with toasted sesame seeds and red pepper coulis, and zucchinni flowers deep fried and stuffed with a fromage that slightly overwhelmed the plant.
For the main I ate joue de boeuf (beef cheek braised in red wine, carrots with a dark chocolate and chilli sauce, served with potato mash). The beef must have been slow cooked for hours and was delightfully tender though the sauce was somehow a little bland. The mash was creamy and delicious but the serving had cooled a little before being placed before me which ameliorated my enjoyment a tad.
My companion had Poitrine de porc (braised pork belly served with puys lentils and drizzled with beetroot reduction) and was also a little underwhelmed which surprised me given her love of pork belly. Her only comment was that the lentils were bland.
Accompaniments were beans sauteed in grain mustard, pomme frittes and a mixed leaf salad with French echalote dressing. All were excellent.
Dessert was probably the high point; with a delicious slice of lemon meringue partnered with vanilla bean ice cream, fresh fruit and a drizzle of raspberry coulis.
Wine is offered by the glass, carafe or bottle and we drank an enjoyable bottle of Vieux Naudin Bordeaux Superieur Bordeaux served in a decanter at $50. Entrees are around $25 with mains in the mid to high thirties.
A pleasant dining experience and I would be happy to go again to try other dishes and perhaps the cheese board.
Magnifique!. This is easily the best French restaurant in sydney. The service is amazing from the moment you walk in. Lovely staff who are friendly and attentive and very well groomed. The cocktails are to die for and the food was sumptuous. We've just returned from Europe and this restaurant just took us right back. I highly recommend it. We'll definitely be returning. . Again and again!
Amazing food, service and atmosphere.. Amazing restaurant. Exceptional food and efficient, sharp service. HIGHLY recommended.
Delicious dishes with exceptional service. Only downside the Claire's is finding parking but with great food like this I would happily return to try what else the menu has to offer.
Lovely atmosphere, super friendly staff, amazing good, huge portions! Such value for money, we were so full after sharing an entree and the chateaubriand, we couldn't even fit in dessert. Really fantastic experience. Chateaubriand was amazing. Definitely going back!
Vive La France. Celebration meal on saturday night at the perfect place. Located in oxford st, Claire's Kitchen at Le Salon is a great choice for dinner for all occasions. The ambiance is relaxed and intimate and while the restaurant was full to capacity it was still possible for the staff to attend to our every need. The food is a delight, the three cheese souffle and the chocolate mousse are the best I have tasted. The menu has something for everyone and the chef specials extensive. Will visit every time we are in sydney. Thanks to Marc and Claire for a wonderful night.
Friends took me here for my birthday and all I can say is WOW. We were stunned with how good it was. The cheese soufflé for entre was delicious and a good sized serving. The chateaubriand for two (with all the trimmings!) could really have been for three, it was a very large serving and very tasty. Chocolate mousse and creme Broulee were magnificent. Needless to say, happy food comas all round. Whilst this is not a cheap restaurant, you absolutely get excellent value for money, and this is a great place to bring friends. Service, food, decor, everything - 10/10.
A really excellent place. Friendly wait staff and outstanding food made for a great evening with my son. If it's on the special list do have the John Dory ceviche or zucchini flower for starters. Lamb rack amazing for main as was duck pie. Deserts all looked good enough and we were please with creme brûlée and mango/hazelnut cake thing.
Will be back.
Perfect. Everything about Claire's Kitchen has been amazing, every visit.
Food - never disappoints. I have always been happy with whatever I order. Whenever I bring someone new to Claire's they are also, without a doubt, always impressed.
Service - always helpful, very friendly. Gorgeous waiters, might I add.
Atmosphere - beautiful setting.
Prices - affordable. It's not a cheap restaurant but considering what you get with each visit, I am always happy to pay their prices.
I have always been satisfied with every dining experience at Claire's Kitchen and I will continue to go back. If ever I have people come to Sydney to visit and they ask about good restaurants in Sydney, Claire's Kitchen is alway the first place that comes to mind.
Great food and service. I have wanted to try this restaurant for a while, so when the opportunity came, I made a booking for dinner and it did not disappoint. As we had a reservation at 6pm, the restaurant was pretty quiet at the start but by 7pm the place was busy. I noticed that it was all waiters and some were speaking French to each other. I don't know if they are all French but either way they were pretty good looking!! Staff were all friendly and we were well looked after with the food also being delicious.
To start, my husband and I shared the twice cooked cheese soufflé which was a first for my husband and he really enjoyed it. The baguette they give us was great to mop up the cheesy sauce. For our mains, he opted for their Pinot noir and duck pie and I had their beef cheek dish (special). It was a good thing I didn't go for their pie as well, as the beef cheeks were melt in the mouth tender and tasty. While the pie was good, my husband also preferred my beef cheeks. Their mixed leaf salad was a generous portion and we got 2/3 of a Shiraz to share.
Afterwards, the waiter brings a big platter of their desserts on offer but Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert.
So delicious and the service was wonderful! I will surely return!
What a showcase of stunning and delicious creations to savour! Highlights include the escargot- the garlic butter seals the deal. Mushroom crepes is a must for anyone that likes creamy, bold mushrooms in a rich sauce all encased in a stunning crepe. However, the winner for me is the duck and Brie pie. It's sensational. It's exotic yet tastes like homecoming and the flavours hop around you making this an experience to remember. Get your best gear on and head here with those who you cherish to take dinning to another level.
Had dinner here with my partner, everything was great. nice setting, service was very good, food was great.
i had the rabbit terrine for entree and rack of lamb for main. both were very good but probably wouldn't go for either again, lots of great options on the menu. my partner had the zucchini flower entree and duck pie for main, the duck pie was delicious.
I have been disappointed many times by dimmi's 50% discount as the restaurants with the offer usually don't deliver what's up to standard. But Claire's Kitchen has changed my mind. Good food, good service and good atmosphere. I will definitely come back again.
Date Night!. Everything was delicious! Wonderful service until we asked for the bill. I had to ask three times. We will be returning though.
Great food, atmosphere, decor and service.. This was my first time going to a French restaurant and I must say it blew me away! Waiters were very friendly and attentive, as well as having that authentic French accent and speaking French.
The food was really good, beside the potato mash which I would say was a little powdery. I had the lamb for a main, and the scallop/pumpkin for entre. My friend had the scallaps for an entre which are a must try! The peking duck pie was also reallyyy good.
too bad we have no room left after mains for dessert! would definitely recommend this for people who want to celebrate something a little extra special, and have wallet space for it.
Love everything about this restaurant from the polite French waiters to their superb food! Probably the best eye fillet I have ever had, it was cooked to perfection! Had the French onion soup that was on special, very yummy! Steak tartare and the escargot(snails) were great as well! Thank you for a great experience , can't wait to come back!
An exquisite restaurant. Dined here on the Friday night that just past, and the restaurant was probably one of the best French restaurants I have been to in my life. The decor was also exquisite and very elegant, and service was charming and impeccable. There is not one thing I can fault Claire's Kitchen with, and I look forward to returning for another meal.
Lovely. I came here with my boyfriend and enjoyed every aspect of the experience. The food was divine, the service was excellent and the ambiance and atmosphere was just perfect. I had the cheese souffle and the duck pie and my partner had the steak tartare and john dory. We both really loved the food, they give you really decent portion sizes as well. Highly recommended.
Absolute Bliss. The combination of fine food and excellent service is a rare find in Sydney. This restaurant manages to do everything! An added bonus is the low noise level, which, unlike most similar establishments. is pleasantly low enabling easy conversation during their wonderful meals.
Great night out. I hadn't eaten French Food in quite a while. I had a great night out here.
Alot of it is quite traditional but they do it beautifully.
The snails were the best I've ever eaten. One of my friends had the cheese souffle which was decadently delicious. My fave dish of the night has to be the steak tartare.
The prices aren't cheap but when you try the food you can see they source great produce and treat it with alot of respect.
We had such a great time we're looking at coming back for the cooking classes.
Excellent Food and Wine. To celebrate Bastille Day, a meal and a French restaurant is called for. After reading the reviews of Claire's Kitchen, we had high hopes of an excellent night and were not disappointed.
We started with a glass of champagne, which was very nice and then moved on to entrée. I had French onion soup and my dinning partner rabbit terrine and both were excellent. The soup was wonderful with the sweetness of the onions perfectly offsetting the seasoning and it was not scalding hot either, so a good spoonful could be had to enjoy the flavour. The duck terrine was equally as good
For mains we ordered the duck and pinot noir pie and the beef. The pie was wonderful with a perfect pastry crust and a rich duck filling. The beef was brilliant, up there with the best I have tasted. Cooked perfectly medium rare, beautifully tender and succulent and a wonderful flavour. It was the highlight of the meal.
Although not needing dessert, when presented with the selection by the waiter it is hard to resist, so a lemon tart and chocolate éclair were ordered. The tart was nice and lemony and not too sweet which is just the way I like it. My partner was equally impressed with the éclair, with the a nice light pastry and a rich chocolate filling.
The wine list is all French and reasonably priced. Our order of a cab sav/merlot blend went well with our meals. French reds are much more restrained than Aussie ones and I think match the rich flavours of the food better.
Service was attentive yet unobtrusive, but my partner's dessert did not arrive, so we needed to order it again. A small negative, but the waiters were most apologetic. The French accented waiters were quite hard to understand at times. In fact when explaining the special cocktails for the evening, we had no idea what the second of the two were as it sounded more French the English. We were amused more than anything by this though.
Lastly, if you do not like cigarette smoke, request a table away from the front door. Our table was right at the front and with many smokers outside, whenever a person come or went a waft of smoke came in which made things a little unpleasant.
Heaven. I absolutely love this place. It is quite possibly my favourite French restaurant in Sydney. Everything is perfect, the food, the service (provided by ridiculously good looking waiters) and the ambiance. M. Kuzma AKA Claire de Lune is passionate about his food and it really shows. If you love French cuisine, you will love Claire's Kitchen.
Amazing french food. If it wasn't for Dimmi I would have never heard of this place.
The bf & i were initially skeptical of how good a french restaurant on oxford st darlinghurst would be. Oh how mistaken we were.
The restaurant is lovely. Walk in, and you feel like you are in Surry Hills - or even better Paris.
The service- Amazing. All the waiters were pleasant and polite.
Food- We ordered the duck pate, scallops for entrees. The duck pate was very nice and even the bf enjoyed it! The scallops were however the winner.. amazing! Definitely order this.
We had the duck and pinot noir pie and beef fillet for mains. The truffled mash was amazing. The duck pie.. woooahhh.. I never knew a pie could be so damn good. These 2 were definitely must must order dishes.
We also had a salad and chips.. which we couldnt finish because by this stage we were stuffed.
The drinks were also really great! I love the 2/3 and 1/3 bottle options for red wine.
Definitely recommend this place!
Food, service and atmosphere.... The nightly special, French onion soup was delicious. The large beef fillet, truffle mash w/ red wine jus was cooked med-rare superbly. My mother had the snapper which had a delicately balanced tomato sauce with olives. The pear and almond tart we shared for desert was dense and moist and went very well with the Hennessy XO. All of the staff were attentive and friendly, though the bar tender was a stand out. We had a great time and will be back.
Amazing :). Absolutely delicious from entree to main and even squeezed in dessert.
All the team and Claire :) thankyou thankyou thankyou :)
Just booked again xx
Go you will not be disappointed
Four thumbs up. Well done Marc (aka Claire) and team. Authentic French at realistic prices, the chateaubriand, the canard pie, escargot, simply magnifique! Bravo good sir (or madam....) and look forward to my next visit.
Birthday party at Claires Kitchen. Yesterday I had my birhtday party at Claire's Kitchen. What a night it was! I cannot praise Marc and his staff high enough. We had the whole mezzanine to ourselves. The set-up was beautiful, the sofas and the fireplace made it feel like home. The food was absolutely fabulous. The waiters were really helpful and the whole experience - unforgettable. Marc realy shows to everyone in Sydney how it has to be done! Thank you! 10/10
Excellent food. I came here for my girlfriend's birthday and it was a very pleasant experience. The decor was nice and interesting but the food was the real stand out.
The twice cooked three cheese souffle is absolutely divine. Without doubt, the best souffle I have ever tasted. I even sent compliments to the chef so do yourself a favour and get the souffle if you come here. The rest of the food was good too but the souffle is worth raving on about.
The service here is a bit mediocre. All the waiters are clearly french and speak it fluently but their english is dreadful. It was impossible to understand them when they tried to tell us the specials and asking for anything was difficult with a clear breakdown in communication. The waiters were very pleasant and friendly but it's just hard when they hire what I suspect to be french students with little english.
Regardless, I would definitely come back and have dinner here again.
Splendid. I took my partner here for Valentine's Day and it couldn't have been more romantic. The service was impeccable whilst still being warm and friendly. Some staff from some of Sydney's new inner city bistro's should send their hipster staff here for a lesson! For a set menu that promised some pretty regular French bistro fare, the realisation was so good. The Parfait de foie de canard en petit pot - duck liver pate with croutons and grape chutney was so delicious that we asked for more bread because we did not want to leave any behind. Next the soufflé aux fromages was light and fluffy and dripping in flavour.. finished to the very last speck. The piece de resistance was the chateaubriand bernaise pour deux... sliced like butter..delicious! Usually I'm still left hungry after the main with these types of menus, but we were both full as googs by the time the dessert, a chocolate heart with berry sorbet, chocolate mousse ad fresh berries was served, but somehow we managed!
I haven't mentioned the ambience which was cosy and personally I was fascinated by the screen displaying a slideshow of photographic images from the art nouveau to the art deco period.
Simply delightful and highly recommended
Amazing!! I booked a large group table for my partners birthday and everything from the friendly service the moment we walked in, the efficiency and professionalism of the staff to the quality of the food was just divine!!
We will definitely be returning - it really made the birthday something to remember.
One of the best restaurants that I have ever been. A true French menu prepared very well. I had a great dinner with my fiancée and will love to return. Great service! Totally recommend it!
WOW!! My girlfriend and I decided to try a French restaurant in Sydney. I was more than impressed. The service was excellent! The food was absolutely delicious! The wine was great. And very well priced. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. We Will deffinately Return!
What a surprise.. Wow, what a treat.
Two of us had the most enjoyable meal served by excellent waiters who were friendly but not familiar and no attitude. The restaurant decor is very chic (definitely NOT shabby).
The food was wonderful, as were the wines.Treat yourself.
Will be back to this one.
Amazing 5-7 deal on Friday night. Delicious cocktails (and a good range, too) and very tasty and fancy canapés. Great service, friendly waiters. Will definitely be back, next time for dinner.
One of the best place in Sydney amazing food for a good price...
I will be back very soon for cheese souffle and duck pie...
Have been to Claire's twice now and I have to say the food is great, three cheese souffle and the beef was scrumptious. Escargots are also good (slightly under seasoned) but the service (on the nights that I dined) was friendly and attentive. It also adds a nice touch when the chef himself comes out at the end of the night to make sure that we enjoyed our dining experience. Would def come back.
Wow, très superbe! Amazing steak and escargot! Dessert of mandarin sorbet was magnifique!
Great food and great service
Food was devine made better by the great service. French food is always better when the waiter is French. Would highly recommend the three cheese souffle and the beef fillet.
Went there Sunday for lunch for a friends birthday .. The minute I walked in I knew I was somewhere very special .. the welcome was warm & very French .. The service .. Food .. Drinks .. Everything was exciting & very wonderful .. great ambiance .. loved the menu rolled & placed in the tall wine glass .. This place is most definitely worthy of a visit ! I personally am not mad about French food but I have to say this was great ... and not too rich if that is possible with French food .. try it ...
I am seriously grasping for superlatives that would truly do this establishment justice.
Perhaps I can just say that my mother's birthday is coming up and taking her there for dinner would say "I love you" better than any bought gift could and the next time I seriously want to impress a date this will be my first stop.
No hesitation in awarding a 10 out of 10.
Delicious & wonderful ambience. Great wine menu, fantastic selection of high quality french wines by the glass (ranged from about $9-14) from chablis, to red burgundy and alsace. This is a taste of real european france in the middle of austalia and an opportunity not to be missed by anyone who loves good food and good wine.
The food was deliciouous, our table enjoyed entrees of the 4 cheese souffle which was light, creamy, fluffy and melted in your mouth. Hubbie had the scallops which were delicate and perfectly cooked, i had the duck liver which was so delicious and beautifully presented we all ended up tucking into it (its a very generous portion). For mains we all had the chateau briand which was melt in your mouth delicious, a beautiful sauce, the accompanying mash was creamy and smooth, beans in a buttery mustard sauce perfectly cooked and delicate side of mushrooms. Deseert was a light and incredibly delicate large bowl of chocolate mousse with a macaroon, and another had the homemade apple pie with creme fresh ice cream. The cheese platter looked very good too.
Overall, Servings are very generous, staff attentive, decor very chic and stylish. Our professional 4some enjoyed the evening, all aspects of this restaurant, very much and will be definitely be back to try more dishes and enjoy the invidual french chic style this restaurant oozes. Marc the owner, was also on hand to thank us and farewell us, a nice touch.
Give this lovely restaurant a try, if you've ever been to france and have fond memories, then i think you'll enjoy claires kitchen.
Loved it! The food was pure heaven, along with the atmosphere and service. One of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. It is quite pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
Chateau briande was divine! Great drinks, good food. Waiters were gorgeous! Only downside was the traffic noise. I had the steak tartare (yums) then shared the briande all very tasty. Snails were very very good! Everyone else loved their food too, although the pear or peach tart couldve used some cream!
Recommended. I've never posted a review before, but last night we enjoyed a lovely meal at Claire's Kitchen and I'd like to share our experience and recommend Claire's Kitchen to others.
The service was authentic, gracious and attentive from the moment we arrived and our food was outstanding. We ordered duck liver parfait and steak tartare for entrees - both were old favourites done well with some originality thrown in and great presentation. Our lamb and Trevally mains were cooked to perfection and once again they were full of flavour and the presentation was excellent.
A well priced wine list and a lovely non-alcoholic cocktail (for the one of us doing Feb-fast) provided suitable accompaniments to what was a great meal.
The surroundings are full of character, with beautiful chandeliers and unlike another reviewer, we did not find it too dark or the music unpleasant (perhaps these things have been improved since that reviewer's visit.
We definitely intend to return and encourage others to not miss out.
Vive la France! - mais...... We had a nice evening at this classy restaurant, which makes a great improvement to Oxford Street, but it could have been superb with a few changes:
- Please do something about the music - it's very nice but a bit "funeral parlour" for a swanky French Restaurant - we recommend the CDs of "La Musique de Paris Derniere".
- The white wine could be chilled more - add stock to the back of the fridge
- The staff need a little more training to serve the correct meal to the correct table on time, producing the bill and picking up the payment.
- Lighting could be improved - or please provide torches so we can read the menu.
- Buy in or make some quality "glace vanille" a staple of every French restaurant we have been to. It goes very nicely with "tarte finnes au pommes" or "tarte tatin".
We look forward to the changes on our return.
Claire's Kitchen @ Le Salon is Something Special. My partner and I had the pleasure of dining at the first night of trade for Claire's Kitchen last night.
First impressions: Wow!! Beautiful finishings and pieces hand picked by Claire De Lune her/himself.
Fantastic staff who were all very attentive, friendly and the french accents just added that extra special touch to the evening.
The food was everything I would expect from a fine dining restaurant, the mains was a little slow coming out but that is understandable for a first night, and a full restaurant. It didn't matter that much as the beautiful French wine selection is resonably priced and of great quality we ended up have two bottles.
If you are looking for something special and want to be treated extra special I highly recommend Claire's Kitchen at Le Salon.
I give it a 9 out of 10.
Great French restaurant close to the centre of the city. The quality of the food was consistently excellent across all courses and dishes. The serving size on some dishes, such as the lamb rack, could definitely be a little larger but overall the dining experience was great. Would highly recommend the Duck Liver Parfait and the Duck Pie. Staff were attentive and the service was all round great. I also loved the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant, perfect for a romantic evening or an intimate dinner with family or friends.
Such a delight to walk in off the busy street and be welcomed into the calm and sumptuous space that is Claire’s kitchen.
The food is always excellent - seasoned with care and subtlety and presented tastefully. There’s a solid selection of cocktails and wines available by the glass/bottle at very reasonable prices. Staff are animated and interactive but not overbearing, and generally converse with each other in French!
Come for the food, stay for the wine and the atmosphere.
A perfect finish to our trip to Sydney.
Four of us enjoyed a perfect dinner here. Amazing service in particular by Valentin.
Very hard to pick the best dish between Lamb rack, Beef tornado and Duck pie. However to me the Duck Pie was the stand out. The bread is fresh and so very good!
Great cocktails and our Pinot Noir was delicious.
A very special experience ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
See you next time we visit Sydney
Great french restaurant with nice atmosphere and live music upstairs. Staffs were friendly and attentive, gave us a good recommendation on food which were all delicious. Duck pie was surprisingly very big in portion. Tartare was fresh, lamb rack was a bit hard to cut but it actually was very tender. Scallops as one of the entree items were especially good. Price is reasonable for french cuisine.
Found this place due to a deal on The Fork. Great find. Nice french food with cute ambience. The baguette was a touch stale and service forgot us a couple of times, so 1 star off. Tuna nicoise and rack of lamb were excellent. Good serving sizes
While Claire's kitchen isn't the best french restaurant in Sydney, I have to say I have never had a bad dish here and the staff are always really friendly.
Very friendly service. Love the beef tartare (just be minded the portion of this dish is quite big).
