The sourdough bread (which i opted to have toasted) was superb. The sandwich filling of honey ginger chicken, emmental, leaves and dressing was absolutely delicious. Amongst the very best lunch sandwiches I've ever had. Sublimely flavoured AND textured. Quick and fruendly service. Great place.

Abercrombie lane cafe is one of those great brunch cafes you'll only find in Melbourne. They bake their own bread, coffee is good and they have 'Slow-Cooked Pork Belly & Kimchi Sandwich'. It ticks all the boxes for me. I give this place 4 bears

Went for breakfast with a friend on a Monday. They have a sign at the entrance of Abercrombie Lane (on George Street). I ordered the ham and cheese bagel whilst my friend ordered the Abercrombie bagel (but switched to whole meal bread) with avocado as extra. The bagel was really nice and was actually quite filling. Would definitely go back!

This place is amazing! It was open on Good Friday. We had low expectations, however we were amazed!! The quality of the food and how it is prepared is really good! Loved the reuben sandwich, the sauerkraut was soft, the pickles are perfect and it’s just perfection! The fritters were extremely good & the poached eggs are so good! I hate egg whites but somehow this taste creamy! The salmon is better than what I usually have at other cafes, less salty too! The bread is perfection, the baker is a one hell of a baker! I would give it more stars if I could! Many thanks for such a good meal!

Sydney's best sandwiches! The sourdough rye is the most delicious fresh bread I've ever tasted. The salads are also great and very healthy options.

Noticed this tucked away little cafe as we were walking past earlier in the day. Decided to give it a whirl after a hectic shopping spree. Was pleased to relax with a great flat white, Campos brew, good depth of flavor & presentation good.

A laneway experience with milk crates replaced by ironing boards. So many tempting sandwiches on the menu. Decided on the Reuben - Wagyu corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss, pickles, seeds mustard mayo ($14) which was pretty good although I should have gone for the light rye sourdough bread instead of just the white bread as I found out later would have been their recommendation. The flavours worked well together and was filled with lots of thinly sliced and fairly moist corned beef although I would have probably preferred the mustard mayo to be replaced by a more classic Russian dressing. Some more noticeable melted cheese would have been good as well and the sauerkraut tasted more like caramelised onion for me and probably could have had a bit more zing perhaps. There's seating inside but on a nice day it's quite nice to sit outside. You can even tap into the free wifi from Merivale next door at Establishment. Service was friendly. Sandwich prices are on the pricey side but I'm suspecting they're all a decent size and filled with quality ingredients.

Located in the central back-alley of Abercrombie Lane, near Australia Square, this small café serving up breakfast, lunch and coffee to busy office workers is a hidden gem. The quality of the food that comes out here is hard to beat but tends to be more on the pricey side for the area. I decided to stop by here for lunch and ordered the Roasted Vegetables Sandwich with their Homemade Chai Latte with Bonsoy.

This is a popular place between George and Pitt in the city. The coffee is great but be prepared for a wait at those peak caffeine hit times. The bake good selection is delicious as are the breakfast bagels - of which there are plenty to choose. If sitting in due to a late meeting grab the shakshuka. At lunch grab yourself a Reuben, or any other that takes your fancy - these are big, be prepared to bring a friend!

Favourite place for lunch - service is good and fast and food all delicious.

I've had the miso chicken sandwich, beetroot salad and shakshuka. They were all tasty - I would recommend the shakshuka. I'm salivating thinking about it.

It took me a while to find the place as one end of the road is blocked. Quite quiet and warm place, not so much food in the mean, but it's still great for a lunch place

Worthy replacement for the much loved Via Abercrombie. Used to come to Via Abercrombie all the time and considered it the best sandwich joint in Sydney CBD.

One gaping hole in their sandwich resume, however, was a Reuben. As one who has Reubened extensively throughout the US, I'm always on guard for dodgy interpretations whose claims to Reuben status are highly questionable. Thankfully this one makes the cut.

Full review: Bread was a lovely light sourdough rye with a smattering of caraway. Corned beef was on point. Thinly shaven as it should be, tender and good quantity. Cheese was lacking a little in both pungency and quantity, but decent melt. Kraut was flavourful and well proportioned, although had some surprising sweet qualities that I've not encountered in sauerkraut before. Mustard mayo dressing was tasty, though a Russian or Thousand Island would give a little more oomph and integration. Biggest flaw was in preparation, with the bread having, I suspect, only been buttered on one side (the filling side) and not finished off in a pan, so it lacked the crusty finishing texture I love from a great Reuben. That and the pickle being in the sandwich rather than on the side.

Overall, totally legit Reuben and probably second to only Ruby and Rach in Sydney.

As for the non-Rueben options, can only comment on the a multi-grain bagel and chicken stew, which were right on the money.

The remaining sandwich options sound enticing and very well thought out.

Staff are warm and friendly. Go there.

I came across this place by accident heading somewhere else. Down a side street I thought "should I?" Something made me say yes and I'm so glad I did. The layout inside is cosy and relaxing, the staff are great, the coffee is excellent and they have the most unusual Eggs Benedict I've seen. Disassembled I think is the word with tomato and green leafy vegetables and your choice of bread. Highly recommended.

Really nice small place out of the way. The service is great. The coffee was pretty solid and the selection of breakfasts and bagels is pretty good. I had the cheese and tomatoes with pastrami. The pastrami was really nice and full of flavour. Its definitely a place I'd go back to when in Sydney.

I come here for the Eggs Benedict with salmon, and a freshly baked bagel with poppy seeds. Fresh and yummy! Their baked desserts are good too. Other things have been a bit hit and miss, e.g. their “fresh juice” which is a blend of frozen fruit and juice from the supermarket. The service is often by young people who can barely speak English and don’t really know what they are doing. Overall though it is a nice little spot for a quick bite in the city for a person or two.

The atmosphere of a small shop in a big city is terrific. Bagel is good but coffee is just so so. The experience of passing a narrow lane to the small cafe for breakfast is excellent.

Fantastic little cafe tucked down an alley. We ordered the Abercrombie Platter and it was amazing. I especially loved the tomato relish. We’ll definitely be back! They accept eftpos/credit cards.
