Fantastic food and great location - Kung Po Chicken is my absolute favourite - come here every time im in Sydney, it never disssapoints, looking forward to next time
A buzzing restaurant situated in the restaurant precinct of Barangaroo. Lotus offers a strong seafood menu (which I love).
We went here as a group so opted for the $79 banquet menu because we wanted to try a variety of dishes. They were nice enough to substitute the beef option on the menu with an alternative just for me because I do not eat beef. However, I was told by the beef eaters that the dish was fantastic š
We asked for a recommended wine to go with the menu and it turned out to be a great medium bodied red (Cabernet Franq 2017 Marq from the Margaret River region) .
Food and service is great here.

Always a pleasure to dine at Lotus. We ordered a few staples, dumplings (prawn & calamari, bbq duck & spinach), beef short ribs with honey ponzu, salt & pepper tofu, steamed fish with ginger & shallot and fried rice.
Dumplings are probably the best way to start the tasting at Lotus.Ā Along with classics such as Xiao Long Bao, Lotus sets the bar fairly high for the dumpling scene.Ā Squid ink, blue swimmer crab and scallop dumplings ($24/4pc) are explosive with flavour from the sea and Xiao Long Bao are juicy and paper thin.Ā It definitely whetted our appetite and we couldnāt wait for the main courses.
Service was devine, food always amazing. Get all the dumplings! Try get an outside table. You need to get the duck pancakes, they are so amazing. Love this vibe and place. Walsh bay venue is also amazing, a little bit more casual
So very impressed with everything about this restaurant. Every single dish was a good portion size and tasting amazing.
Itās not often that youāre still raving about the food as much as we were.
Just enough spice in the sambal and soft shell crab dishes.
The lotus fried rice was the perfect balance of having that fried flavour but not being heavy.
Many compliments to the chef and to the service team too. Service was friendly, attentive and efficient.
Definitely would go here again and recommend to others.
Lotus is one of most popular restaurants in the Barangaroo food strip. The food is cooked well however more on the salty side, so the main dishes needed to be eaten with steamed rice. Highlights were the dumplings, salt and pepper squid and XO hokkien noodles. The squid ink dumplings were very fresh and you could taste each seafood ingredient inside. XO noodles were a surprise as the flavours were very balanced and delicious.
Great food, if you're looking for a change from the regular Asian fare. We had the sweet and sour pork, duck fried rice, salt & pepper tofu and the crispy skin fried chicken to share for 3 hungry friends. Nothing was left but the plates. The staff were friendly and attentive in spite of it being busy. Great place.
Firstly what a location right on the water just down from darling harbour.
The menu is great with a nice selection, food came out very quickly nice and fresh.
The staff are very friendly and professional and know exactly what they are selling we were a group of 6 and everyone loved the place.
The food was amazing!!

Amazing dumplings, their special menu is incredible and makes you want more. Nestled perfectly along the Harbour front with views and food is the perfect way to spend a night out.
Very nice food, nice seats with water views and friendly staff. My favourites tonight were the soft shell crab, salts and pepper squid and pork dumplings. They made a great Virgin Mary too. Will be back ASAP.
Amazing food and Good Vibes too.Im Celebrating my cousin bday at this restaurant. The food is super Yummy. We ordered the steam fish,Calamari, soft shell crab, and the Kung Pao Chicken all of it soo Yummy. The staff is so friendly too.
Nice spot during Vivid. Beautiful dumplings. Service was great and really helped with the wine selection. Itās a bit on the expensive side for dumplings but the flavor and variety is definitely there.
So delicious. Initially had low expectations given the prices but the food was really delicious. Came for a friends birthday and was not disappointed . Waitresses were super friendly and attentive. Definite favourite was the xo sauce pipis, stir fried mushrooms and the black pepper beef. The lychee cocktail was so nice too.
Polite and friendly staff, relaxed and elegant venue by the water. Average dumplings but I highly recommend the plum duck and Sze Chuan Margherita.
This place is in a great location as you can look out into the harbour. We came here before vivid and it was busy. However the service was still great- waitress made sure our waters were always topped up and that our food was to our standard. Only downfall is that the portions are on the smaller side.
First time trying something new at Barangaroo. Definitely a lovely dining experience with great service. Absolutely love the steamed fish, which the waitress said to be freshly made daily (no 'dead' fish was used). Will be back again for more!

Iāve always been a huge fan ofĀ Lotus Restaurant. The first time I went to the one in the Galeries (and been there a dozen times or so since!), followed by a trip to the originalĀ Lotus down on Hickson Road. I know itās terrible to admit, but before this trip toĀ Lotus I had never been to Barangaroo before! I found it a bit daunting, like I would walk along there and find all the food options just too overwhelming. Now I think Iām addicted. Took my parents to Cirrus the following week (look up for y post in a few weeks!) and cannot wait to go back! But Iām getting sidetrackedā¦letās talkĀ Lotus.
Had a working lunch here the other day - not the first time I have eaten here though.
Great food, ambience and decor. Service was good - prompt and polite.
Plenty of choice on the menu and the banquet options provide plenty of variety.
rather than going home or taking permission from the wifey.Ā There have been a number of visits, so I am. going write about the dishes I have had so far. Just a disclaimer, to make sure. you donāt think of foodie chatter possessing the supernatural capability to. order and eat half the menu in one go!.
Great experience, service is excellent and the location is great for both groups and couples. The sommelier was excellent and took time to explain the wine selection especially as we wanted to try something different. Highly recommended š
We had long awaited an opportunity to try the final Lotus restaurant on our Tour de Lotus. Having previously visited the Rocks and the Galeries venues our standards were high. We were not disappointed. Great quality, fresh and delicious food! The location was beautiful. The service was wonderful and we found they were adequately attentive and not over bearing. Vegetarian options were plentiful. The desert we had āemperors goldā was gorgeous to look and and eat! We very much enjoy Lotus.
We had the $49 pp banquet which was delicious. Good wine selection. Friendly and attentive service. Food is served almost immediately, no messing about.
Nice atmosphere and great food. Authentic variety of asian cuisine. We sat outside and it was cold, they give blankets which was a saver. Everything tasted good, however we could have skipped the pork with beans since it was mainly beans and just bits of pork. We will definetly revisit if we have the time.
Firstly, we had some great food here. The Lotus sweet and sour pork is a real stand out. The dumpling are great and heaps of gluten free options.
I don't think they have quite got the service right. At this price point you certainly expect a bit more. The maitre D' wasn't friendly and we had to flag someone down for service a few times.
Had lunch at Lotus with my wife, for the third time in 3 months. We love it. The food is fresh and high quality. Great wine list, with experience staff that know wine.
Atmosphere/location great. All topped by quick prefixes sip all and friendly service.
You must try this Lotus!
Wonderful location, popped by for a lazy Saturday afternoon mixture of oysters and dumplings, all of which were excellent! The staff were incredibly helpful and flexible, and knew the menu inside out. The oysters were excellent, and the dumplings sensational...
the only minor complaint is the limited selection of wines by the glass- only one of each style, and the only bubbles were pricey Tattinger...
We came here for lunch to celebrate my birthday and overall I enjoyed the food, although a bit pricey. This was my first time dining at Barangaroo and as the day cleared up, it was nice sitting there. Staff were friendly and this restaurant is child friendly with plastic cutlery for them.
We shared their calamari and oz tongue, Kung pao chicken, beef short ribs, spinach with ginger and enoki mushroom, fried rice and one serve of pork buns for my son. The highlight for me was the pork ribs and calamari.
For dessert we shared the yuzu cheesecake with coconut sorbet and the passionfruit sphere that had passionfruit sorbet and marshmellow. Usually I wouldn't order desserts like this but they were refreshing and cut through the richness of the food we had.
Possibly some of the best food I've had in Sydney. The service is quick and helpful. The duck fried rice and hokkien noodles in XO Sauce are delicious. The overall ambience is busy yet lovely.
Positioned at the end of the Barangaroo thronging dining strip, Lotus offers modern Asian. Service is on point, and there is plenty to please the palate, particularly for seafood lovers. The hot and spicy king prawn with dried chilli and Sichuan green peppercorn was particularly mouth numbingly good.
The Barangaroo dining district has a lot to offer, but I also think a lot of potential to still realise. Lotus is one of the places there with great ambience, outdoor wharf side dining, and really friendly staff. I haven't been to any other Lotus affiliates so had nothing to compare it to from that perspective.
What I can say is that the food was good but left a little to be desired. For entrees, the oysters are the standout, the prawn dumplings are good and the eggplant is ok.
For mains the Sechuan prawns are spicy, well cooked but felt something was lacking, the Asian greens were as expected. The standout was the Wagyu, it really was something special - if you come here you MUST order this.
Overall though, didn't get the wow factor we were expecting, although it was a nice date night in a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere.
Lotus is a stunning addition to the vast and exciting Barangaroo dining precinct. Have been to The Rocks restaurant many times on trips to the theatre, so we were really enthusiastic to try this new location. It is surprising how quiet and relaxed the waterfront here is at night. Anyhowā¦.onto the dumplings!Ā
We chose three different sorts; the vegetarian dumplings $12, the prawn, calamari and ginger dumplings $14 and the pork wonton steamed $12. All plump, juicy and delicious! To follow: the crispy chicken with spiced soy sauce and chili oil $29 and the Wagyu sirloin with heirloom tomatoes, crispy leeks and truffle oil 200g $48. Favourite dish without hesitation: the Wagyu! Tender and so flavoursome! For dessert we shared the most adorable āpassion fruit picked from the vineā, and when you cut into the dessert, it is filled with passion fruit ice-cream, salted vanilla marshmallow centre and passion fruit skin glaze with a biscuit crumb base. What a lovely way to finish a wonderful meal! Highly recommended!
Amazing! The location is stunning. The staff are friendly. The food is awesome! I highly recommend the pipis, cold noodles and the eggplant stack.
The food is amazing. I loved every dish that we ordered - Sui mai, duck dumplings, kung pao chicken and fried rice. So tasty. It is quite expensive in comparison to your regular Chinese restaurant or yum Cha restaurant however it's nice on a special occasion to treat yourself! Very friendly service - our waitress appeared to be very happy to be at work which is refreshing. I also liked that she offered us hats because we were seated in direct sunlight. It was a nice thoughtful touch!
Well this was a lovely experience. I had to sit with my back to the harbour but regardless the food was wonderful. We shared the prawn, calamari and ginger dumplings which were light, gently fragrant and oh so perfect. We had spinach and water chestnut dumplings. They were very spinach-y so much...
Really enjoyed my dining experience here.
Dumplings were full of flavor and cooked perfectly.
For mains we had the lamb riblets, barramundi fillets, sweet and sour pork and the fried rice. I liked their modern take on old classics and couldn't fault any dish. Our knowledgeable waiter certainly went above and beyond to give our group a lovely evening.
Can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu.
Came here for lunch last week. Ordered the dumplings for starters, also ordered the braised pork and beef.
Where do I start, it's simply outstanding. The meat was cooked to perfection, the braised pork melted in your mouth.
Ambience: Very nice and relaxing, being on the wharf helps.
Food: Absolutely loved it, everything seems to be off the top shelf. Do yourself a favour and give this place a try, you won't regret it.
Price: Not the cheapest but, if you're a food lover, price really doesn't come into the equation.
Food was quick and had good flavour. Service was great with some good recommendations. Definitely one of the best Asian restaurants in the Darling Harbour area.
The food is lovely and the location is fantastic. Perhaps a little overpriced, but that seems to be standard anywhere in Sydney these days. I definitely prefer the sister restaurant at Walsh Bay - probably an even better menu than here.
The service was quick and efficient, so overall very pleasant experience.
In short:Ā A modern take on Chinese and Asian favourites, relaxed atmosphere with the harbour as a backdrop, housed in Barangaroo precinct.
We always look forward to our buddy Sue, who visits from the Sunshine Coast of Queensland every 6 months or so. It usually involves going out for a good feed. Seeing that the days were warming up and she had not visited Barangaroo, we decided to take her to Barangaroo and spent a lazy couple of hours at Lotus. Lotus is a modern representation of Chinese/Asian cuisine situated onĀ Ā Wulgulul Walk. Ā With the glistening waters of Sydney Harbour, a cooling sea breeze and relaxed settees to settle into, the atmosphere is a magnitude less frenzied than Chinatown. Owner Michael Jiang has two other Lotus restaurants in Sydney, and itās a culmination of a childhood dream to deliver food of his heritage. He has attractedĀ Chris Yan and Kenji Okuda who have worked at Billy Kwong to take the helm at Lotus Barangaroo.
Great spot by the wharf side! The crystal ice plant salad had the most incredible texture and you could taste the freshness. Fish was perfectly steamed. Overall, meal was flavourful. Service was fantastic.
A high standard of food and service replicated again as I've dined a few times in their other restaurants. Nice ambiance in a great new location. Ā When the weather is great, the atmosphere is awesome. Ā I'd recommend the prawn dumplings.
We had lunch here today with a group of 9. The service was warm and friendly and as it was a little chilly, they gave us each blankets. It's on the wharf so the view is nice and it felt very open.
We had a large group who all had different dietary requirements and some of us not being hungry. They were very accommodating with allowing 7 to have the banquet menu and allowing amendments individually due to dietary requirements.
The other 2 were able to order ala carte as they weren't too hungry. (That was me). We had prawn dumplings which was a whole prawn in a soft and silky case and chilli sauce on the side, fried pork dumplings which were crisp on the outside and came with a sweet and sour sauce, and the Kung Pao chicken which was sweet sour and had a nice mix of chicken, crisp chicken skin, cashews, tofu, chilli and ginger.
Enjoyed lunch here - will come back.
Yum!! Great little place. The decor is simple and easy on the eye. Most of the team were friendly and attentive. The dumplings were delicious and tasty. Lots of food options and all of them are delicious, you could definitely spend the whole night just having the starter and side dishes, they are that good!
Great place that is always consistent in terms of food quality, food taste and the customer service. Lots of food options and all of them are delicious, you could definitely spend the whole night just having the starter and side dishes, they are that good! Beer and cocktails are great, though the wine list could be improved. Overall highly recommend to check out!
Friends booked a surprise birthday dinner and we had a great night out with laughs and good food. We ordered the tasting menu so lots of variety and goodies to try. Itās $60pp and worth it. It included dumplings, mains and dessert. The shiitake dumplings were phenomenal, best Iāve ever had and the black bean beef with cauliflower was also a winner. Definitely be back again just to order those two. Duck pancakes and fried rice also deserve a mention, really good. Itās a good looking restaurant, nice and cosy, and staff is friendly and efficient - great night out. Street parking available along Hickson Road š all covid rules followed
Been coming here for years. Never fails to impress.
Super friendly staff - cosy vibes & epic Cantonese/Shanghainese food.
One must book in advance. Real tiny dining space š
Great little place. The decor is simple and easy on the eye. The team was friendly and attentive. The dumplings were delicious and tasty. The cocktail we had was one of the worst. My advice is stick to the wine list as a safe optionšI would recommend this place to my friends for a good lunch destination.
