Review Bar Luca - Sydney

We booked for 5pm dinner. Got ourselves some draft ale and beer to start. Place gets busy by 530pm. This place is very well staffed. Easy ordering and food is served fast. Like the lively music too. The burgers, shakes, onion rings, chicken wings, etc really met all expectations. Highly recommended.

One of the most iconic burger joints in Sydney CBD, and for a reason. The burgers are just so delicious! They have classics but also specials each week. I usually go for Mr Truffle, can't go wrong with that! Onion rings are great as well. The good thing is that you can also enjoy great beers with your food here. Gets really busy though so you may need to queue for a bit.

Blame Canada is the UNDISPUTED BEST BURGER IN SYDNEY. Time and time again I think I'll get sick of having this incredible burger. Time and time again I'm proven wrong. Great staff, great vibes, great food. If you're just looking to enjoy a burger, highly recommend to go on a weekday mid afternoon. Dinner can often be booked out, especially on weekends.

I am not usually fan of burgers, but I’ve had a great time dining at Bar Luca! Their burgers are delicious, and I love that I was able to swap to a plant-based patty for free! I had the Mr T-Ruffle and the truffle aioli made is so tasty! My partner was very hungry so he was satisfied with how big the Mac Daddy burger was. The oreo milkshake was great and the sweet potato wedges were well-seasoned and had a nice crispy coating. Overall, very happy with our experience at Bar Luca!

Blame Canada is the best burger I've ever had. Can't say much more than that. It had everything it promised and so much more. I didn't want to finish the burger, it was that good. Also great eating spot, they were busy as but managed to fit us in, didn't have to wait too long for foods 👍

Honestly it may come down to the amount of hype I received but I don’t think it has lived up to it. Was it good? 100% yes. Burgers were nice but I don’t think it’s the best sydney has to offer. Cocktails were alright too and the service was alright. The place can be pretty busy so make sure you come earlier and obviously you’ll wait longer if you arrive with a larger group. Would definitely come back to try other food items but will do so, when I’m willing to splurge as prices are at the higher region.

Bar Luca is the home of Blame Canada. The. Best. Burger. In Sydney. Nothing else compares or even comes close. If you haven't tasted it yet, it is a bucket list item when visiting Sydney! I will be coming back for many more years to come. Amazing place, staff are friendly, great beers on tap. Even the wings are incredible!

My partner adores burger and this is definitely one of the best burger house in Sydney. Deep fried cauliflower was the highlight for me! Jimmy pork ribs as well. Highly recommended.

Been wanting to try this place for quite a while now and used my birthday yesterday as an excuse to finally do it! As an avid burger fan, I had heard many great things about the Blame Canada burger, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Perfectly cooked beef patty, maple bacon and poutine fries were an amazing combination. My wife and I also shared the bomb frites, buffalo wings and lamb riblets, which were great as well. Our only criticism was that the buffalo wings were a bit small and not very meaty. We also had the Malteser shake special, which was also quite a treat! We will definitely come back as there's more on the menu we'd love to try!

Were having a great time until we got kicked off our table mid meal, they didn’t give us a replacement table either. Never going there again. Highly recommend Surely’s over this place better food and you don’t get kicked out mid meal.

One of the best burger in Sydney. Sauces are rich in flavor but not overpowering, great combination of each burger. Blame Canada has brought me to heaven(but also brought me to hell in terms of calories lol). Their milkshakes are also brilliant, Bar Luca is my type of cheat meal for once in a while

Loved this place! Friendly staff, yummy burgers and a good selection of cocktails. Didn't have a booking however the host and manager on duty on friday night made sure we felt welcome whilst we had a drink at the bar waiting for a table. Highly recommend!!!

Went to Phillip St at 11.30am on Friday, they don't do bookings on the day. Got a table straight away, ordered meals which came very fast. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend it.

Bar Luca and BL Burger spinoffs have the best burgers I have devoured to date. The beef patties are always seasoned and cooked to perfection (pink in the middle). The Blame Canada, the Flame Canada special, BL burger with extra beef, can’t beat them.

Best place to have a great burger!! Highly recommend!! You will leave satisfied!

Go for lunch there once a week. Good food, friendly staff and innovative burgers. Highly recommend.

So good it won't disappoint. I had the Blame Canada burger and it was on point.

Blame Canada - Possibly the best burger ever! Staff were all lovely as well. Definitely will be back.

Had a booking for 12:30, arrived and waited in line to be seated at our table. Got to the front of the line at 12:44 to be told they had given our table away as we where more than 10 minutes late. Explained to the guy we’d been on time and waiting in line but he wasn’t bothered and brushed us off. Pretty rude. Wouldn’t go back.

So I go in hoping for the best burger in Sydney. I go hoping for the unicorns of all unicorns! I've had better at my local! #gspot Mount Pritchard! Sitting here smashing down my Burger and Shisha for $25!
Andrew Pieniazek
Be warned. One burger from here and you will be ever chasing the burger dragon. Hehe. Best burgers ever!!
Leanna Lewis
Great burgers and vibe! Took literally 2.5 hours to clear away our empty plates which wasn't ideal but it's the best burger place in Sydney

Delicious burgers and milkshakes! One of the few places in Sydney that does Nutella milkshakes very well. It can get noisy during peak time.
Eunifoodie
Their blame Canada burger is one of the best burgers I’ve had in Sydney - it may not be as massive or extravagant looking as other burger joints but every bite of that burger is perfect. Their sweet potato fries are really good too - super crispy and well flavoured.

Some really good damn burgers, indeed up there as some of the best in Australia without a doubt.

Ordered the truffle burger with mushrooms and truffle sauce and it was to die for. Meat was tender, juicy, whilst the mushrooms and truffle melted altogether forming a really rich, yet not too strong flavour. What was the great thing however was the buttermilk soft bun which held everything together so well, and was so easy to enjoy.

A fantastic burger joint worth visiting again.

Food: 4.5/5
Service: 3/5
Ambience: 4/5
Value: 4/5

Overall: 4.5/5

12.30pm lunch on a Wednesday hence Bar Luca was busy with the lunch crowd. Ordered the Classic Cheese with fries (thin, crispy and with seasoning) and a beer. Great meal!

10/10

1) Blame India - Very toned down butter chicken flavour, the two pieces of fried chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy

2) Truffle Burger - My favourite burger at Bar Luca, I know they're well known for the Blame Canada but mushrooms always belong in burgers

3) Weekly Special Loaded Fries - The chorizo, chimichurri and cheese on the fries made for a sensational combo

4) Onion Rings - Nice and crunchy onion rings but it gets a bit overly greasy after letting it sit for a bit

Great burgers and prompt service ! Super hyped burger bar joint in Sydney, has a sociable atmosphere. Kitchen does well to keep up with Friday night rush hour, we made a mistake with the fries (wanted poutine instead) and the waiter graciously offered that we keep the fries free of charge. Blame Canada and Beef burger were really really good - definitely a place to try out. They also do great poutine and an awesome black truffle sauce

Order:
1. 1x BL Beef
2. 2x Mr T-Ruffle
3. 2x Mac Daddy
- Add Fries and sticky lamb ribs
4. Bloaded Fries
5. Hershey’s chocolate fudge milkshake

The restaurant was extremely packed for a Wednesday evening. Reccomended to have a reservation in order to get a seat. The atmosphere is loud as expected of a bar and service was quite quick.

The burgers were well seasoned and extremely big. The sauce was nice and bun crisp. However, there was nothing too special about the burger - a typical average higher end burger.

The bloaded fries was large in serving size. There is usually a weekly special so this will differ. Fries were crisp and the combination we got was good together.

Milkshake was extremely sweet as expected however it was mostly whipped cream rather than the drink.

A critique would be that the ribs ordered on the side was extremely tough. At first, we thought that it was because we ate it after the burger, but it would not fall off the bone and seemed overcooked. Would not recommend this extra.

MR T-RUFFLE 3.5 🌟
Truffle is my absolute favourite burger flavour/combo. This one is subtle and not too overpowering with the truffle sauce. The meat is cooked perfectly - juicy and tender. Maple bacon adds a touch of sweetness to it. Only reason I’m giving it a 3.5 is because it was average.

BLAME CANADA 4.5 🌟
Adding the extra fried mozzarella patty was a game changer. 3 types of cheeses and the perfect cheese melt. Not too sickening with the sauces and amazing milk bun.

MAGIC MUSHROOM 1 🌟
Was so disappointed by this burger. I was hoping that a mushroom patty would be used but it was just a battered piece of mushroom that tasted only like batter. You could barely see the mushroom. Basic burger with only lettuce and sauce on top.

Great place for catch up.
We went for Saturday night dinner. It was almost packed.
Good ambience, good food and burgers are must have.
Drinks are delicious, a bit pricey though.

We ordered 🍟 shoestring fries with aioli, 🍗buffalo wings, 🍔Blame India - chicken burger... yummm.

For drinks we ordered cocktails:
🥃long island ice tea - good but I've had better.
🍸Martini - was strong and good
Boys had 🍹#pinacolada and 🥃old fashioned

All drinks were good cannot fault any.

Recommended for fun casual occasions.

One of the best burger joints in Sydney!
Can get very busy. Walk-ins sometimes need to wait around half an hour.

Bar service only (no table service)

Unfortunately closed on Sundays.

Bar Luca famously known for their burgers especially the "Blame Canada" which is their iconic delicious beef burger. I've been here a couple of times and every time I come here to eat it doesn't disappoint. This was the first time I tried something other than the Blame Canada and it was great. I had the "Flame Chicanada" and its a big beast of a chicken burger. The place can get very busy during lunch and dinner time since its located right next to Circular Quay so its packed during those times. The only issue I have is that the prices of the burgers can be quite high ($17) for the Blame Canada. Overall though the food is good, I would recommend checking it out.

I've heard so many people rave about bar Luca so I was excited when I got the opportunity to try it during a meet up event.

I got:
🍔 Blame Canada - beef pattie, American cheese, maple bacon, maple ailoli & Poutine on a BL milk bun ($17)

🍪🥛Oreo milkshake ($9)

The burger was really packed and heavy, but I still really liked the sweet maple bacon. It probably would've paired better with a refreshing soda but I had to try the milkshake. It was a little disappointing it probably had too much milk and not enough Oreos.

This Part 3 of Burgerpalooza festival in Parramatta that was held on 21st and 22nd September 2019. The last burger that I tried was from Bar Luca. Bar Luca has for many years had the reputation for having the best burger in Sydney for their "Blame Canada". They were at the recent Burgerpalooza with another burger.

The Blame Canada burger is the best burger I have ever had. Full stop. I will have to fight anyone who says otherwise. Juicy, meaty, sweet, savoury, crunchy, it is the perfect burger. Everything else like quick service, killer sides, special edition burgers, drinks are just a bonus. Can't recommend this place enough.

We went to Bar Luca on a Friday night as a group of 8 of us. It was very busy and we didn't have a reservation. It was very hard to get a seat and we found the bar staff to be very rude. In particular the food was very mediocre. It looks amazing on their website but is nothing special in person. I ordered the BL Beef burger without the lettuce and tomato and an apple cider. the cider was flat and the burger was boring
Sweet And Sour Fork
What I was really here for however was the Blame Canada ($17), which is possibly the most famous burger in Sydney, and definitely the most famous at Bar Luca. Aside from the beef and cheese, everything in it is all-out Canadian – maple aioli, maple-glazed bacon; there’s even a handful of poutine sitting on the bottom. Yet despite the ridiculously indulgent combination, this was actually a really balanced burger. You could taste each of the elements distinctly; I was especially impressed with the quality of the maple flavour, and how cleanly it shone through. Even the poutine was more than just a gimmick, with the gravy providing some much-needed moisture for the fries, and the squeaky cheese curds were little pockets of salty, creamy goodness. I may not have been sold from the very first bite, but it had won me over well and truly by the end.

🍔Arabian Bites

Nice change to the regular specials populating Sydney, this had a nice fresh taste leaving me feeling light. Patty was nicely smashed, getting better and better, the Havarti cheese was wrapped all around the patty which gave a nice smooth texture. Crispy leb bread had a nice crunchy texture and was a nice substitute to fries, loved the tabbouleh, whilst the labneh was nicely lathered on top. Pickled turnip was noticeable but not as prevalent as pickles whilst the zaatar had a nice savoury taste that was enjoyed more with this being a single patty burger.

Great burgers in the city, the patty is juicy and perfectly cooked while the Blame Canada burger can be quite rich and heavy, it certainly is addictive. Although the regular fries can be a little to pale to my liking. The bar had a nice lively atmosphere and surprisingly the wait wasn't too long for a midweek lunch, around 15 mins. Look forward to returning and trying the chicken burger.s

Had high hopes for this place.. burger was good.. but the fries and potato scollops were so bad covered in chicken salt it was all you could taste it was so bad we were scrapping it off the food

The burgers here are amazing, the queue of people just doesn’t lie. Have tried to come couple of time previously, but the wait were always ridiculous and gave up instead. But this time we came on a heavily rainy weeknight 8pm. The place was still busy, but there was a high table available right in front of the door. The bar stools & small table, plus the cold draught from outside made it rather uncomfortable. But it doesn’t really matter when the burgers turned up. The Flame Chicanana was OTT! The size alone was massive, didn’t even attempt to pick it up. There was not just 1, but 2 pieces of fried chicken fillets, bonus for being crunchy & juicy. The maple glazed bacon added a nice hint of sweetness, and the poutine of fries on the bottom was great too. In contrast my friend’s Mr T-ruffle dwarfed in size, but still nice. The truffle wasn’t very pronounced, hidden within the aioli, but a good offset vs the sweet bacon. Definitely keen to try the rest of the menu!

Friendly Staff, lots of drink options, love the ambience and the food is amazing! I highly recommend the Blame Canada, trust me poutine in the burger is GENIUS! Their BL chicken has a Japanese Fried chicken taste to it, not my favorite but still good.

Honestly I was disappointed, came here on a Saturday night. Extremely busy place, so we had to order takeaway. You can't order take away and wait for a table at the same time (go figure). Maybe I was expecting more because of all the hype, the burger was nice, but that was it. Just nice, nothing about it screamed out to me. I don't think I'd return, other burger joints around that I personally much prefer.

BL CHICKEN ($16) - southern fried chicken, American cheese, streaky bacon, lettuce,
black garlic aioli & chilli jam on a BL milk bun. This burger is for someone who is really hungry or maybe just a standart person who eats alot. It’s also worth because the flavour of the burger isn’t overpowered by chili, but it is already balanced out. Also the chili jam actually makes the burger taste delicious (8/10)

I ordered salted caramel and vanilla malt milkshake topped with whipping cream ($9 each) . In terms of taste, its quite good but in terms of proportion not really worth it. Too many ice and cream! (6/10)

House Cut Sweet Potato Wedges with chipotle aioli ($10) – . the sweet potato wedges is quite good and it has a little bit of crunch which is nice and it holds the flavour of the sweet potato (9/10)

BLAME CANADA ($17) – Beef pattie, American cheese, maple glazed bacon, maple aioli & poutine on a BL milk bun. One of the most popular burger in this place. For the last three years, I’ve been going to australia to eat this particular burger and told that this is the best burger I ever eat in Sydney. The reason I put this on a 6 because the burger I had two years ago is soooo much better than now. The maple bacon usually is sweet but now it is salty and the sauce is too much that makes the whole dish collapsed and not balanced as a whole dish. I hope it will come back normal next year! I missed the old blame canada :”) (6/10)
Lovesfoodtoomuch
We were quite disappointed actually

Was superbly crowded when we arrived

My burger patty was a wee burnt so it was slightly bitter, but thankfully still juicy. Didn’t bother to notify them as i was just famished. Others patties were okay.
Wings weren’t crispy at all though flavourful.

Love the sweet potato fries and lamb

For those loving the pub scene, this is a definite place to go

Maria Elfrida
HUGE BURGER COMING THRU!✨ all as fantastic as you can see. The burger was huge and full. This place is always busy, even sometimes people need to line up to got served into this place. We ordered flame canada (my all time favorite), polenta, blame india (the new special menu), and also oreo milkshake. The polenta and oreo milkshake wad nice. The flame canada was the best! You’ve got the jalapeno, maple syrup, bacon, beef, cheese, and everything inside of it! So you can taste everything mix perfectly inside your mouth. The blame india tasted like chicken with curry sauce, not that spicy but still enjoyable to eat.
Caitlin
Not veggie friendly! Unfortunately if you’re not a meat eater your options are limited unless you want a dry veggie burger that falls apart. I hope they look at revamping the only non meat burger on their menu to something tastier. They do have great Mac and Cheese though!
Victoria Dinh
Super nice ambience and yummy food!!
I especially love their crunchy sweet potato and soda. Great entree 😙
Then the main dishes made me drool every time I think about it. The meat patties were juicy and well-grilled 😍
Totally worth the money!
Andrew Chan
It's a very good burger but worth it it's very filling you Need to bring your appertight with you by the way it get busy during the weeknight and weekend you need to book before hand
Crystaloops
Really impressive, delicious burgers and fast service. We got the raspberry lime soda, the flame chicanada and Mr T-Ruffle burning with sides. The flame chicanada came with two huge slabs of fried chicken sandwiched between maple bacon, cheese, jalapeños - we actually had to take out one of the pieces of chicken to be able to take a proper big bite! The chicken was crispy and juicy, and the whole thing absolutely delicious (but definitely with a kick so watch out if you don't like spice).

The Mr T-Ruffle burger had a beef patty, whole grilled mushroom top and truffle aioli. The beef patty was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and had lovely crisp, caramelised edges which worked incredibly well with the other burger components. I ordered no swiss cheese (sadly because I'm dairy intolerant) and it was still beautifully rich without! The truffle honestly is so good. I got this with the lamb riblets and chips as a side (extra $7), which came with 4 individual lamb ribs which had been slow roasted and grilled with bbq sauce. They definitely were very tender and smoky and the grill had crisped up the sides nicely. My only criticism is that the barbecue sauce was a little little one dimensional - definitely smoky and sweet but could use some more spice.

As for the chips, they were nicely crisp and had a great seasoning mix on top. We were mostly blown away at how generous they were (check the photos!). Finally, the soda we ordered was nice and refreshing, definitely not too sweet. It came with two lime wedges and fresh raspberries - definitely a nice touch. Just as an FYI I was JUST able to finish the burger, ribs and fries together, which says a lot about their generous portions since I definitely am a big eater (so be prepared to feel nice and full after!).

The atmosphere is not too bad, keep in mind it is a bar as well so it can get a bit noisy, so I would recommended getting takeaway if that's not your thing. We came here on a Saturday night around 7 as a walk-in and there was about a 15-20 minute wait, so I would make a reservation if you aren't about that life. In saying that however, we did receive our food about 10 minutes after ordering which was lovely.

Overall I would definitely recommend the trip if you're in the mood for an excellent burger and fries and you're in the CBD!

Overall:
Food: 4.5/5
Value for money: 4/5 (definitely reasonable for the quality, but the sides and drinks add up!)
Gisela
My new fave burger! Their famous one is Blame Canada Burger but our new love is Mr T-ruffle burger. Serving food is a little bit slow despite as there is long wait order through delivery order. Ambience is perfect for a quick catch up place.
Culinarykingsyd
The ‘Blame Canada’ is on par with one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Simply outstanding from the team at BL. Their fries are covered in some sort of addictive seasoning which constantly has me salivating! Seriously though what a treat this was! I recommended to anyone who wants a thick and delicious burger whilst surrounded by friendly staff. Atmosphere was great and can’t wait to come back :)
Sichao Hu
Absolutely great burger! Although just a bit too salty for me. Otherwise I would definitely give five star. Will surely recommend to my friends.
Derek
I’ve tried many burger places in Sydney, and this is the default best burger in Sydney for me. The blame Canada (sometimes topped with fried chicken or a deep fried Mozeralla patty) has kept the place of best burger joint in Sydney for the past 3 years

2019- unfortunately, it appears the experience was not as previously remembered, the blame Canada while previously generous, now always requires additional sauce, otherwise the meat patty is too dry.
Serene
Absolute gem. The burgers and sides are impressive. Definitely will go back again for round two. The only drawback is that it can get decidedly loud at peak times and conversations are almost shouty and punctuated with “what?!” throughout. Otherwise it’s a fantastic joint. Definitely reserve a spot for dinner as it’s almost always packed... even on a weekday.
Foodie_Pri
One of the best burgers I've ever had! The flaming chicanada was exactly that, Flaming full of flavor. One of the distinguishing elements about the dishes here was the quality. Even in the popcorn chicken, the ratio of batter to chicken was generous. In fact the portion sizes and flavours were well worth the price. The popcorn chicken had a lovely sweetly spiced aftertaste. I'll definitely be back for more!
Andrew C
Good venue, really friendly service. The burgers are nice, and the lamb ribs are good too. Had the Blame Canada burger, but I wasn't a fan. Bacon was too sweet, and the poutine (which I normally love) didn't add much to the flavour or texture of the burger. Still I don't want to downrate just because of my personal taste, I will revisit and try a different burger. Staff are lovely, and the venue itself is quite nice. Lamb ribs and fries are good, but expect to get messy!

Easily my favourite burger spot in the CBD. Many flock here to try their first Blame Canada - a legend in Sydney’s burger scene. I keep coming back for their weekly specials and have never left disappointed.
Strawberry_vee
Bar Luca is popular for their creative burgers and you can be sure they are always packed. I tried the beef burger with chicken wings & fries and what an awesome combination!
Dashmit Aurora
Amazing place. Love there burgers and shakes. They always have specials on the board. I would recommend trying then first. They are very busy in the evenings, so would recommend booking in advance.

Came here on a busy Friday night. Had to wait around 45 minutes for a table. Well worth the wait. Best burger I've ever had. Chips could be better though.
Holly Moran
Have never had a bad burger from here! Always exceed my expectations 😍 the meat is always cooked perfectly and the bacon is always so crispy!! Just how I love it. The burgers I’ve had so far: “Don’t be Jelly” special, “BL Chicken” and “Blame Canana” OG. Honestly amazing, definitely recommend a burger lover to try 👌

Sydney's burger scene is getting better every year and Bar Luca has always been right up there as one of Sydney's finest, the place is small and can feel cramped, its almost always full as its near the Circular Quay station which makes it convenient for both corporates and daytrippers alike and sometimes getting a table or even waiting in the queue to order can be a pain but once all that is done and you have the burger in front of you, its pure burger bliss, they have strong lineup of burgers with the regulars and changing weekly specials. Amongst the regulars, the blame Canada is a must-try, anyone who knows burgers in sydney knows Blame Canada and you'll know the reason once you have a bite, but I go there for the specials as they can come up with some of the wackiest burgers (Don't be Jelly and Cheesus for example) around. The sides and shakes are good and complement the burgers really well, they also have a bar. This place is a serious contender of being the city's best burger joint.

Touted as one of the best places for burgers in Sydney. I would say YES!...to an extent. I was here on a Friday for lunch with my colleagues which is one of the worst time to be here. Fortunately, I had a reservation made for a large group but we had to still order and as the bar was packed, there was a long queue for placing an order. I got to place mine after 20mins. I ordered the popular Blame Canada burger with Fries and Lamb ribs along with a Chocolate Fudge milkshake. There is isn't much on offer as the place is a bar and, serve burgers and a few sides to go with the drinks. The order was ready quite fast and I had my order in 10mins. Just looking at the size of the burger, I was afraid I would not be able to finish it but as I got a bite of the burger, I realized that this wouldn't he much of a hurdle. The burger consisted of beef patties, maple glazed bacon with some fries. I missed the lettuce in the burger as it adds a layer of crunch for me personally however the burger was tasty nonetheless. For the price of the burger, I found it a bit overrated and one of the reasons for only giving the place 4stars.
Sarah Sultani
The burgers are a must try. Great value given the size of the burger. We ordered the Classic Cheese and Blame Canada. They serve the burger with a rare beef patty so it’s slightly pink in the centre. Their salted caramel thick-shake was amazing, had a perfect balance of salty and sweet. The service is decent. It’s worth pointing out that on Friday and Saturday nights this place is incredibly packed so it can be difficult to find seats.

I've always wanted to come here after hearing so many good things about it. I had a classic cheese burger - Beef pattie, American cheese, white onion, pickles, ketchup & mustard on a BL milk bun for $13. I went there with a few mates a little after 7. We pretty much got the last table that was available - this place fills up fast! I also shared some popcorn chicken (please note the picture was taken after most of it was eaten, sorry!). The food went so well with a pale ale. Would definitely go again with mates!

One of the best burger places in Sydney!
As someone who has tried many burger places and has even worked at a burger place I can testify that BL makes some of the best burgers you can find.

I’ve been here 3 times and the meat patties are always juicy and beautiful.
The fries are amazing (get the loaded fries if you’re up to it and a milkshake if you have space left over).
The blame Canada is great and although I have not tried the chicken burger a customer next to me had one that looked incredibleeee.
The staff are also really nice and attentive (shout-out to Oli) who kept checking in to make sure everything was great.

This place definitely deserves all the top ratings its received in the past few years! Service was very quick (we got all our food in around 10 min), burgers were fantastic (yes even their veggie burger). Serving sizes are large though so it's easy to accidentally over order.

I recommend trying their spiked milkshakes! I had the salted caramel shake spiked with frangelico and it was amazing but very hard to finish (I recommend sharing a shake between 2 people unless you are feeling ambitious)
DelhiMeriJaan
Just normal pub food ..... nothing home to write about .... chips were really good but veg burger was not the best I have had ... please bring in the chick pea Pattie for veg burger guys (try one at the firehouse) ... ditch the sweet potato ... Huge selection of drinks .... Ambience and Service (with a smile) were pretty good given it was packed ... Not much wait to be seated or served ... worth visiting again

After reading a lot of the raving reviews and comments saying bar luca have the best burgers in Sydney and possibly ever, I was so keen to give this place a go. Well if this is what the best burgers in Sydney are like I would hate to see the worst. My experience here was so disappointing. I ordered the blame Canada, chips and onion rings. The burger came out quicker than it would if I had ordered it at Maccas, secondly it was cold and thirdly didn’t have any real flavour other that salt salt and more salt. The chips were tasty but the onion rings were an oily mess. However there were heaps of beers, ciders and cocktails to choose from and the atmosphere is pretty cool and laid back. Maybe I was just unlucky and got a bad burger but didn’t do enough to make me go back.

I love this place for their Blame Canada burger. It’s so indulgent adding fries and gravy to a cheeseburger but the combination just works! They have large range of sides and the poutine is great.

Awesome burgers with a rotating weekly special. A must visit when in Sydney if you’re looking for a burger... although book ahead as it’s always busy for dinner!

Best poutine I've ever had. Everything else is ok. The Tarta cocktail is really good. Also tried the Spicy Berry which is gross. Didn't realize it had chilli in it. Asked if I could swap it for something else at the bar and was told I couldn't. Said they could add syrup in it. It didn't help. Not a long wait time for a table. Place was packed.
Dominic Svensson
The BL burger seems to use good ingredients but the patty was a bit overcooked and chewy in places (not at all pink like in many photos I saw). The sauce really added to it, a bit spicy and a bit pickly (even though good pickles were also on the burger). The bun has more body than many competitors but it just seemed a bit doughy rather than a genuinely good bun. The burger is fairly large so the price is probably ok considering some competitors charge more. Definitely in the top echelon of trendy burger places in Sydney but I still haven't found a burger that wowed me. As a bar, the places is ok but pretty much a normal bar, not very clean and dour but efficient staff.

I ordered the canadian burger, what everybody suggested here in zomato. Truthfully i am not a burger person and seldom go to a burger restaurant, but this burger was just ok for me, maybe bc i expected more. The amount of fries for 3$ is very generous!! The atmosphere of the restaurant if very comfy and chill and all the staff were very friendly.

Some of the best burgers in the city.
I recommend the chicken and the canadian burger with a side of wings and fries
But try making it a little early in the evening as its harder to get a table otherwise
@KeraBearEats
Bar Luca is exactly what it is, a bar. Perfect for lunches, afternoon drinks, a cornerstone for a good night out, but what they are really known for are their burgers.

I'd been wanting to come here ever since my fellow Instagram enthusiasts told me it's impossible to compare Sydney burgers until I've tried one from Bar Luca.

Really, really disappointing. Had heard so many good things and wanted to go here for so long.

Was finally in the city for work and decided to treat myself to a naughty lunch so walked down and ordered my burger and a beer.

Everyone has told me I HAD to get the Blame Canada which I did and it came out very quickly. Too quickly even. I was a little suspicious how they could possibly cook a burger pattie and crispy bacon and fries so quickly but as soon as I picked the burger up it was obvious how they managed to get it out so quickly. It was obvious that nothing on the burger was freshly made as it was all cold. The chips, the pattie, the bacon and even the gravy seemed cold.

I’ll give it another go when it’s really busy as it’s obvious they just cook everything in bulk and put the burgers together as orders come through. There’s nothing wrong with this in theory but I feel like I got the leftovers from the lunch rush.

I’m a big believer in second chances so I’ll be back but I also believe in first impressions so I might not rush back.

It is indeed what it's hyped up to be. Booking was a sight pain, but managed anyway. In fact got an early seat as we got in early. That's nice off the stuff. Bigger groups beware of the time. Best burger in town I must say.
Hungry Vibes Only
When someone mentions burgers in Sydney, Bar Luca will definitely come up.

Blame Canada is probably the juiciest burger I’ve ever had! The poutine, the patty and the mapled bacon is a party in your mouth. We ended up going back for Round 2 in one sitting!

$10 bucket of wings also a crowd favourite! Be sure to mention ‘bucket’ when you order because otherwise you’ll get the standard portion of wings for the same price (much less!).

Service isn’t the greatest but easily forgotten when the food is this good.

The burgers here are one of the best around this end of town and further and since I work close by, it's a regular outlet for my colleagues and I. It's a great place for after work feast before hitting the town for drinks. The Blame Canada burger with crispy maple bacon and top grade beef for the Blame Canada is to die for! Or you can go for the BL Chicken burger, which includes a big piece of southern fried thigh fillet of chicken that just melts in your mouth. The Fries here are also a must, well seasoned and always taste sensational!
Vondelicious
Delicious burgers- they are as delicious as they look. Our favourite was the Blame Canada, but would also recommend getting a Mozzarella patty. Just make sure you eat it quickly before the cheese hardens! Only downside is that it is a very busy bar, so it can get really noisy!
Morgan
Huge burger. Was very disappointed considering all the positive reviews. Pattie was very dry. Drinks menu was cool and I had one of the homemade sodas which was nice.
Ann
The price is very reasonable in CBD, and the service was very fast and friendly.
But foodwise, chips were very dry, chicken wings were warm, soda drink was ordinary. The pulled pork was soft and juicy, the chicken burger was very battered, and lettuce wasnt crispy to match the chicken.
Portion was very generous.
TrufflePig
Good burger but definitely not the best. I know the crowd seemingly falls in love with outrageous combinations but when it comes to comparability, the classic is the only way to go. The meat isnt overcooked, and overall its a generally soft and edible burger. The bun is soft, not dry. There's sufficient filling and whilst the meat is cooked well its not overly flavourful compared to others that around.

Satisfying, but not the best in this beautiful city.

I thought the burgers were okay, definitely not worth the hype. I’ve had the blame Canada and the beef burger, and wasn’t impressed either time.
And the guy charged me $25 for a $16 burger.
Theeconomicfoodie
I went here on a Wednesday night with one friend and we both ordered Blame Canadas, fries and a portion of chicken wings. The restaurant is set up where you order at the bar, receive a number and then the food is brought to your table. We received our food in a timely manner even though the restaurant was full. The burger was huge but so tasty! A bit of a messy eat but was worth it regardless. The prices are bit on the higher end of the scale ($17 for the burger only) but you will leave the restaurant incredibly happy and full. I would strongly recommend booking a table so you skip out on the wait out front and to avoid being disheartened and going somewhere else.
Tanya
Decent burgers stacked up super high. I got the blame Canada burger and this tasted great! Nice and pink in the centre - super satisfying burger for lunch.

I really loved bar Lucas. Great ambiance and nice staff. There is a variety of burgers where you can add toppings (extra meat, extra bacons, Mac&cheese etc...). Also, you can have a drink and enjoy the evening with your friends.
Corgi Kid
Great price, very tasty burgers and fries. I chose to get the Blame Canada with added Fries along with Sriracha BBQ Mayonnaise and Suicide Sauce. So far this is one of the best burger joints I have ever tasted in Sydney and I savoured every biting moments.
Graciana El Khoury
Very Very busy restaurant but it’s worth it for sure! Fatty and juicy burger where you can add a variety of item! Maybe it’s not my favorite but you have to try it once!

Really cool place and great burgers , have come here a lot. Service is ok, feel like a lot of the staff are great but get the vibe they are all a bit cool. And one experience has put me off, I asked for wings and fries as a side with my burger and they just brought fries, when I mentioned it to the lady who brought the food she was rude and brought the receipts over showing me just fries . I understand that it's a loud bar but I know I ordered the wings and don't want to feel like I'm lying. I gave $3 dollars and got the wings. I had smaller wings then my friends who all ordered the chips and friends and they had four and I got given 3 which was frustrating. And a real shame as will put me off going to bar luca as much.

Vibe is awesome went here on a Monday place was packed.

Service is very solid polite and friendly, fit out and design is cool very modern and hipster.

Food was very impressive, I would enjoy a toasted bun over a non toasted.

I prefer a thicker cut chip also

All in all very good will be back loved it service was great !

It was difficult finding Bar Luca but boy was it worth it! (Protip: from Intercontinental Hotel, walk up Phillip St towards the CBD, away from Circular Quay). I picked the pulled pork burger because pulled pork. Bar Luca makes an awesome version, with plenty of soft, tender and full of flavour meat. No dry, stringy bits here. It's a fairly wet burger so the milk buns did not hold up well but it's a small price to pay for the deliciousness. My friends had the Blame Canada and fried chicken burgers. It was a unanimous thumbs up from them too. A minor gripe was that the bacon was a bit too salty but that could be chalked up to personal preference. We also ordered a bucket of smoky BBQ wings, fries and onion rings to share. They were alright but the burgers are definitely the star.

It was very busy on a Tues night - my friend and I had to wait 10 mins for a table. Staff are efficient though and the atmosphere is pretty buzzy but laid back.
The burgers were pretty good - powerful flavours and very filling. I got the chicken karaage and my friend got the special at the time. But man, mine was so oily and fatty I could almost feel my blood increasing in cholesterol. The bacon was almost pure salt - I had to remove the last few mouthfuls. That said, it was still a pretty worthwhile burger.

I’ve been to Bar Luca several times and would always recommend it to friends who visit. I’m a sucker for the good ol’ crispy bacon and it’s the perfect addition to their BL Beef Burger.

So far though, my personal favorite is their special burger called MR. TRUFFLE. As someone who wipes off the mayo in her food (or just requests for it not to be included), the truffle mayo was just finger lickin’ good!!!

(Please bring it back!)

Some of the best burgers in Sydney. The Blame Canada is to die for as are the chips!! Great service and the place has a great vibe. The milkshakes are also very yummy.

What a nice place to chill for a day! You can relax and enjoying your burger, probably with some drinks. They have the special menu called Burger special. Amazingly, this is the best burger I’ve ever had! what a shame I didn’t order the extra wings. When you eat the first bite it will reminds you of a little bit of joyful! The price won’t shock you.

ThIs place was very busy at midday on a weekday so we knew it had to be good. The food was very good, we had veggie burgers and fries. The chips weren't hot but still tasty. The burger was delicious. The drink menu looked great. Service was quick too! There was a small surcharge for any use of eftpos, which was annoying even though it wasn't much.
Phfat
I heard these were the best burgers in Sydney and they're definitely up there! The blame Canada is your go to burger. I think my arteries are crying but I enjoyed every bite. With a side of fries it goes down very well. Will return for the specials!

A nice, but always busy eatery due to their popularity! Unfortunately, not much vegan, vegetarian choices on offer. Their vegetarian burger definitely needs a change as the patty was dry, not enough sauce and minimal toppings in the burger.
Loved the strawberries & cream milkshake as well as the corn! The shoestring fries had a great amount of seasoning and the aioli topped it off.
Reasonably priced place and always have friendly staff to help you! Would definitely recommend.

Found this restaurant on this app & it is excellent. Best burger I’ve had in a long time & the staff are really friendly. I had the Blame Canada burger with chips which came to $23 with a coke. Very happy.
LRo
Best burger I think I’ve had in Sydney - up there with the Rockpool Burger.

I went on a weekday for a solo lunch and sat at the bar with no wait. Was pretty busy but there was still seats available.

I got a cheeseburger cooked well done (at my request) with jalapeños and fries. Burger was cooked just right and despite being well done was not dry. Fries were super addictive as well.

Bar staff were lovely to boot! Will be back next time I’m in Sydney.
Hayley
Most times i have been here, they had been very good and consistent. Their chicken is always very juicy and flavourful. I have also tried their vego burger, it’s very decent and satisfying. I never went for the blame canada though, it would have been too heavy for me.

This time i was there, i feel like they have battered the chicken too much. I had to take one piece out and peel the coating off.

There’s always a wait, but you can always grab a beer during the wait. It’s also fast to get a table. I have tried making a booking on a weekday and they will reserve a table for you.
MUHAHAHA
Perfect venue for a afterwork drink.

Heard many good words about the burger - but was a bit disappointed when I finally had the chance to try to...

Ordered beef burger... but for some reason that I don't know, my burger tasted like goat...🤢

We also ordered some onion rings - but it's full of flour and not crispy at all...

Ummmmmm maybe I went on the wrong day...

I am always down for a good fried chicken burger, so when we found out that Bar Luca was doing a weekly special we just had to go and try. I can definitely see why everyone raves about this place after this visit.

We ordered two of the special burgers, the ‘Burg that Stops the Nation’. It was absolutely delicious and possibly the best fried chicken burger I’ve ever had! The chicken was so crispy and crunchy and the bacon was insanely flavourful. The truffle aioli was possibly the best use of truffle ever? The chips were great as well, great portion size for $6. The peanut butter shake was so good, if a little expensive.

Overall just amazing food, friendly and quick service if a tad expensive. Definitely will be back for more of their special burgers in the future!
Vanessa
Amazing burgers! Ordered the Canadian and vegetarian burgers. The Canadian had just the right amount of maple syrup on the bacon but could've done with a pickle or two. The vege burger has a spicy kick to it. The fries are amazing and you can really taste the herbs! Would love to come again ☺️

“Blame Canada” filled my eyes with tears of joy. Basically it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had and perhaps might taste ever again. Poutine was a little bit to heavy but that was just my opinion. Bar Luca would be one of the reasons why I would visit Sydney a next time.

Great place, great burgers! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good feed. Couldn't finish it though. Very big burgers. Service was ok too.

BLAME CANADA. ALL DAY. EVERYDAY! I've had a plethora of burgers in my lifetime and none come close to BL's BC burger. Super phat like me? Add a fried Cheezus pattie to your burger and lose yourself in pleasure.

Super quick service; even though the place was full, I was served a burger and fries in little over 5 mins. Burgers are also prime, do check this one out
