Review Steersons Steakhouse - Sydney

The oysters were not great. Steak and wine were great. Mash potatoes not so much. It also seems they were short on staff and took a while but the staff was friendly overall and the high quality of the steak and wine made up for everything else.

Wonderful host greeted us and set the mood for our evening. Our steaks were among the best we’ve had dining out, and the sides were delicious. Sorry but only empty plates left to show you… Do not skip on dessert if you can! On top of all that the view of Darling Harbour was fantastic. We will be back again.

Ok, this place set the bar at a new level. One pound T-bone cooked to perfection, amazing wine collection and the customer service was off the chart. If you love steak, you'll love this place.. 150% recommended 👌🏿....

A brilliant dining experience. Any steak lover would go bezerk with the choices. We had steak for main course and desert. The liver pate, bone marrow and kingfish Carpaccio are amazing dishes as well. A must visit.

(Service is 1 star, food 3.5-4 star) This was a place of our family’s tradition, where we would celebrate our reunion every time we were in Sydney. I understand that holiday weekend could have been hectic, but we also expect a certain level of experience when we book a nice restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. Our server had a fun personality and was friendly. However, he was slow to provide even the basics like plates to be able to have our olives and bread (we sat there for at least 15 minutes before we could start eating). During the dinner, we ordered an extra glass of wine which took half an hour before we had to go pick it up ourselves. We tried to follow up several times but the servers kept saying it was another person’s responsibility and that they would be with us shortly. The meat was cold by the time we went to get the wine ourselves. We had made eye contacts with who we believe to be the manager many times, and despite us calling him over a number of occasions, he only attended to other bigger tables around us. We tried to communicate and share our experience with someone at the restaurant before we left but it was clear that no one was interested in engaging further, including our server who clearly knew that he had messed up several times. The food quality is in line with what you would expect at a traditional steak restaurant at a similar price range. However, there are so many restaurants in the city where you will have the quality of food, value and experience that you expect.

Very disappointed in the food this time. Ordered medium rare sirloin. Received over done, burnt what looked like cheap cut of meat from ALDI. Best thing about the whole meal was the Sonoma sourdough!

Probably the best steak we have ever had! The location and service was also next to perfect which nice views when seated outside. Would have been 5 stars but the oysters as entree were tiny (and not at the same standard of the steak)!! And the restaurant was very quiet yet a group of very loud people were sat next to us so we were struggling to hear each other.

Perfect steak, priced expectations was on point for the location, great service and the dessert was just great.

Came here for my birthday in November of 2019, considering its owned by the same person as kingsleys we assumed it would be fantastic. The service overall was not the quality of a typical fine dining restaurant with the same price point. The entire table felt stared at the entire night not to mention the passive aggressiveness that we got from the bartender. We asked if we could order an aperol spritz, such a basic cocktail, and we received an eye roll and a " I will see what he says". not the response I anticipated. A few of the steaks we got were either not cooked correctly, ordered medium got well done, wrong sauces and cold food.
this isn't a deal breaker for me but normally when its your birthday and the staff are aware of this they wish you a happy birthday. I didn't even get that. Overall not the best experience. Kingsleys at woolomoloo is way better! There was 12 of us so you would think a large group = bigger tip therefore a better service experience overall but nope! the only positive thing I have to say about the experience was the design of the restaurant was nice.

I haven’t been here for quite a while and thought it was time to visit here again with some visitors from out of town. Its location in King Street Wharf makes for excellent views of Darling Harbour. The service was hospitable and attentive.

Our guests really wanted to have some good steak and remembered really quality steaks here so it was an obvious choice. We decided to share so could try a bit of everything. One of our group was a child and they do have a kids menu called the Little Bulls Menu. There was a choice of main (200g sirloin & chips, chicken schnitzel & chips or calamari & chips), a dessert of vanilla ice-cream with chocolate sauce as well as a soft drink or juice. Quite good value at $25. Our little one had the steak. Well cooked and tasty. Presented with the chips, tomato sauce, and a small salad on the plate. We had the Steak Tasting Board. This included three steaks (grasslands 500g rib-eye, black angus 250g flat iron, and wagyu 250g skirt steak). We asked for them to be cooked medium and came out as ordered. They were tender and well flavoured. The sides included as part of the tasting board were fries and a salad of lettuce and tomatoes. There were also some sauces including red wine jus, bernaise, and chimichurri. Loved all the sauces and made the steak even better. We also got the Pan Roasted Barramundi. It was plated with pineapple and coriander rice and pumpkin & coconut purée. Very well cooked and delicious.

Great place to enjoy a steak and a view.

100% hands down the best place to dine in!! Had my partners birthday at Steersons and we couldn’t be any happier. From food to dessert and waitstaff! Highly recommended :)

Beef is not rare enough, when I order medium.

Great setting and lovely atmosphere, with some of the best staff I have ever come across. The food is second to none, perfect steaks cooked exactly the way you want them.

Every course was brilliant, nothing sub-par about any of our dishes and all was served in a timely and efficient manner.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Steersons and we’ll be sure to return soon.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
King Street Wharf has been a remarkably stable dining precinct since it opened just before the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. With the fourteen tenants having an average lease time of more than eleven years, there’s a bit of an expectation for this precinct to continue to chug along unchanged. However, with Markham, a private real estate group, taking over the 99-year lease of King Street Wharf in December last year, there’s a whisper of renewal in the air... All this got me thinking that it was a good time to get reacquainted with this waterfront ‘hood, starting with a meat fix at Steersons Steakhouse. Beginning its King Street Wharf journey as Kinglseys Steakhouse, Steersons has been around since 2004. Still centred upon the waterfront view, the dining room has aged quite nicely, with a backlit marble bar providing a focal point inside the light and airy space. Despite the suddenly inclement Sydney weather, we decide to...

One of my favourite places now! I had the tasting menu which consisted of 3 steaks (different cuts of course) valued at $150. The view and overall food experience was great. Each piece of steak was cut and cooked beautifully. I was amazed at the quality and for a finer place to dine the wait wasn't long at all! I highly recommend it!

I made a reservation here for myself. Told restaurant staff I have mobility issues. Was not told about the steep flight of steps at restaurant entry wth no other way in, which I only found out about after I arrived! 😡😡😡. Not at all happy! Staff very disinterested in helping to rectify the situation so I left! I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone else!
Georgina
This place is the honestly the best place for steak! I've been here for years and I've never been disappointed! The steak is always cooked perfectly and the food is very consistent. I always ask for medium well and I actually get just that, medium well!! I highly recommend this place! You won't be let down!!
Shelley
I think this place is quite overrated and expensive for what it is... The meal was still lovely and a great view during the vivid festival - a shame it is so expensive.
Greg Gavalas
We had a group of 7 come here for dinner and it was great. Service is very quick and the views were outstanding.
All the steaks were cooked to perfection and had incredible taste. My medium rare was good and sauces were good
Foodlicious
Received Groupon as a gift and treated like a second class citizen from the staff. Poor service. Was rudely told that they were fully booked and could not cater for ONE extra family member who was not included in the booking. Food was average and underwhelming. There were small elements that were nice such as the potato mash and the fillet Mignon. Definitely will not come again.
Miilu
Came here and was skeptical at first.. thought it would be overpriced due to the location and it being a tourist driven area. The menu explains the different parts of the steak very well and how it is best cooked so it’s good for those who don’t know what part to order. Steak was very well cooked and tender, the baked potato is also excellent as a side. Would recommend over the mash. The Mac & cheese balls are also very delish! Very nice atmosphere by the side of king st wharf

✦ Many years ago I went to Steersons at King st Wharf. I remember the food we had at this steak house was amazing. Probably the best steak I've had at that time and the entrees an explosion of new taste sensations. ✦ I went there again looking for that same experience, however it wasn't as great as I expected.

Great service!

Decent Steak, had Angus steak with Mash.

Entry was osyter server with lemon and mayo style sauce. Didn't work. Mayo was to strong, overpowering the taste of the osyter.
Dominic Svensson
Great steak but indifferent staff. I got an eye fillet, it was very good and worth the $45 price. Friends did the 1kg t-bone challenge and it really looked like a good hunk of meat. Staff didn't want to be there though and the wines were massively marked up. I guess it's reliable for good steak but Kingsley's is just an all-round nicer place to be.
Kevin Mun
Amazing ribeye steak and kangaroo loin. Tender and juicy, just like how i like my meat. Had the steak with blue cheese butter, it just added to the flavour of the meat, mustard went well with the kangaroo loin meat. This is definitely a place you would want to visit for a great juicy steak, beef or kangaroo!
Immanuel Homarwidjaja
Awesome steaks, were so good you wouldn't even need sauce, perfectly cooked and a premium cut, wait was a little longer than expected but was worth it in the end, large serving size you get what you pay for, great atmosphere, high end stuff.
Rebecca
Food was nice, had a lot of flavour!!! Nice scenery
Waiter was not very friendly and was not impressed when we did not order alcohol or tip him.
Sara
For a place that specialises in steak- I expected more. The food was not bad. But it wasn't amazing either. More so just an average steak and mash... Entree was average as well.
Jmanchatty
steak was alright, not bad but not as amazing as i thought it would be. not enough flavour imo but the service was good and it was cooked to my liking which is a plus (surprisingly many steak places are unable to do this...) Better options out there though imo
Tortuguita Comiendo
Service was excellent, food was great. Steak was cooked as requested. We also had the Rocket & Raddicho and Caprese salad but the stand out for me was the chocolate fondant. Oh I almost forgot to mention the delicious and wide selection of wines.

Went hear for a lunch during the week, service was excellent and wasn't a long wait for the meal which was great.
For a steakhouse I expected my 12 week aged steak to be better but it was gristly. My guest said his sirloin was perfect though.

Went here for our staff Christmas lunch in December and we were all suitably impressed! Great view and excellent food. Usually group menus tend to be a bit tasteless and dull but from the entrees to the mains, everything was delicious and spot on (steaks even cooked to order). The staff were friendly and good humoured, always on the ball. We never had to wait for anything. I highly recommend Steersons for groups and really for anyone looking for a good steak and service in Sydney!
Lil' Me
Went there for a birthday dinner in September 2015. Overall the food and service was ok, the steaks we ordered didn't have that wow factor (maybe I had a high expectation for this price range of steak).
The tables on the balcony facing water, the view was great.
Rich Elly
Would not recommend this place. Staff were not friendly (apart from front staff) and food was burnt... WAYYY over priced for the quality. Take your time else where!!
Simon Bell
Disappointing overall. Entrees were good but expensive and the $70 wagyu was underwhelming. Service was a little hit and miss and our waiter never once returned to ask whether anyone at our table would like another drink. The place likely trades on its location. There are much better steak venues across the city than this and for the price Steersons charge you could try any of them and pay no more.

I have heard that back in the 1960s and 70s, there was a phenomenon known as the progressive dinner party. A group of friends would gather at one couple’s house for entrees (prawn cocktail?), go to another place for main course (boeuf bourguignon?) then stagger on to a third for dessert (pavlova?).
Steak Me Out
Steersons is located right on the water of King’s Wharf and has a great view out onto the water, it makes for a pleasant backdrop to eat a steak. A friend of mine was up from Melbourne and we decided to give it a go, I ordered the Riverena River 8 week’s dry aged rib eye done medium rare.
Andy Quan
King Street Wharf is a strange location for us to eat. It feels a bit touristy, and not particularly inviting....Obviously, the specialty is steak. And I’m not sure I’ve chosen this a prime rib like this as a main course in Australia. What to say? Described as a Havericks Dry Aged Beef [Dry Aged for 6-8 weeks], NSW Riverina Rib on Bone (MSA) Pasture Fed, 400g. It was $50 but the menu says $49.90. It was beautifully grilled on the outside, medium rare on the inside as I’d asked for. It came with a great jus, the potato chips were crisp. It was honestly too big for me, the crazy pleasure of the fat and protein and charcoal at the start was fading by the end, just because there was so much of it.
Snapshots Of Food
I highly recommend you try this place either for the view, the service, the food... or just for a special night out. You won’t regret it!

The steakhouse is a very nicely presented and is in an open space, with wooden floor boards, white tablecloths, white chairs outside and wooden chairs inside. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. Enough about the surrounds. It was time t

Every now and again, A and I crave a decent steak and a nice glass of red. We’ve yet to find somewhere in Canberra that serves excellent steaks (suggestions welcomed!), so A and I opted to visit a favourite of ours – Steersons Steakhouse in Darling Harbour. Steersons Steakhouse is located on King Street Wharf and has a balcony with a view of darling harbour. When we arrived, we were told that there was no availability for a table inside (as we hadn’t booked), but luckily this suited us perfectly. When we were seated on the balcony, we were also provided with a gas heater to ourselves. This meant that even though it was winter, we were very comfortable sitting on the balcony with a view of the harbour. Our first point of call was to review the wine list, which is extensive but has an excellent selection of wines by the glass. I ordered a glass of the 2010 Kilikanoon Blocks Rd Cabernet Sauvignon ($14) – which paired brilliantly wit

The one-kilo T-bone steak is a substantial hunk of meat, seared with grill marks and cooked to medium rare as requested. The meat is juicy and succulent but not as charred or smoky as I would have expected, given the size of the cut.

Well-presented dishes, Water view, Nice decor, Pleasant ambience, Steak lovers menu, Menu seems reasonably priced for the location and quality, Service was professional and friendly
CONS: Good Food Month menu wasn't promote
Food Booze Shoes
As part of Good Food Month, for the month of October King Street Wharf restaurants are offering Signatures by the Wharf: a set of a signature main meal or dishes with a drink, enjoyed by the sparkling waterside. I shouldn't have been all too surprised at the bloke-heavy population at Steersons Steakhouse on a weeknight dinner, where corporate cards seem to get a good workout. The restaurant at the northern end of Lime Street overlooking the wharf was almost completely full by the time we put orders in, and with steak, wine and a whisky trolley out the front – it makes perfect sense. Freshly baked damper with salted butter and mixed marinated olives from Steersons Steakhouse, Lime Street, King Street Wharf, Sydney We started with freshly baked damper that was almost as soft and light as fairy floss; certainly softer than any white bread I've known and nothing like the damper I made at school camp all those years ago. Served with plain old butter, I'd recommend having it with some of the

Went there after hearing that Steerson makes really good steak. I ordered medium to well done and got a medium to rare. as i consider myself a steak buff I would give this place 5 out of ten. I you looking for a pub quality steak then this place is for you!
First.english
Disappointed X 2. I went there for lunch today with 3 relatives. I have to admit the entree were pretty good, and presentable, but the mains were very ordinary. I was especially disappointed when my wagyu ribeye was almost well done, when i ordered medium rare. I might as well go to a pub next time....

To make matter worse, we had 2 entertainment gold cards presented, however the restaurant only gave us a discount that was below what we were entitled to. Not happy.

Avoid the steak.. Visited over the weekend with a group of 4. We each tried a different steak cut. Very small portions for each. Nothing like the photos on the site. Mine was small and 50% inedible gristle. My friends medium rare was so rubbery the steak knife couldn't cut through it without significant force. Absolutely no flavour on any of them. The service from the wait staff was superb, but of course at the end of the meal when all of us had half of our meals still left on the plate there were no apologies or offers of any kind of compensation. The meals would have been miserable as a $10 pub meal. At $40 a pop it was plain embarrassing and unacceptable. Avoid. Go to Maccas instead for a better meal.

We visited here as Kingsley's the sister steakhouse was closed for Easter.

The restaurant was nearly empty - strange for a Saturday night but we went with it.

I ordered the NY strip medium and my wife the fillet mignon. we waited quite a while for our meals to arrive but when they did we were very unhappy. mine was cooked beyond well done and I sent it back and my wife's was cold. I have to say the second time it was perfect.

they did give us free drinks as an apology which we were grateful for and they did acknowledge the steak was over cooked.

I do expect a steakhouse to get it right straight off but maybe my expectations are too high.

The view is great and the staff friendly.

it was OK but not great. prices average for Australia and the drinks good although the draft beers were out of action.

Keep your cash. Well how disappointing... In Sydney for Christmas take the wife and a great friend out for dinner, order two steaks as per waiters recommendations and a prawn & pasta dish. NEVER AGAIN both steaks were cooked as per order BUT tuff as an old boot and prawn dish came out looking as if he chef had dropped a bag of peas into the mix YUCK. When letting the waiter know of our disappointment as steaks were not eaten one so bad it was nearly all still on the plate, he referred it to the management/kitchen then came back offering a free drink..WTF In the end dinner cost over $210 with wine. It will be the last time I or any other friends will part with cash to such a shame of a steakhouse. Poor performance pick another place for dinner.

LUNCH. Went for lunch with my husband today.....took 45 mins. for us to get any food.
Then 2 items on the bill were overcharged....wouldn't go again.
Hari Maragos
We felt like a good feed of steak - and the sister store to Kingsley's didn't disappoint. The steaks were quite amazing, the sides were lovely, and cheese platter was delicious - although I must say it was a bit rich to charge $25 corkage PER bottle AND a service charge to pay by Credit Card. Service was great though - would def come back again!
Brooke
Truly amazing food & top quality service. Highly recommend for a special night out.

Average steak with good view. The steak was average to be honest. I have tried steak houses all over the world. Just enjoy the view given this is a tourist spot.

To die for Mousse. I know this is a steak place and don't me wrong my steak was delcious but the mousse dessert was TO DIE FOR, I would go back just to eat that again, amazing!!

Terrible customer service. Walked in the restaurant, was completely ignored by all d staff. Had to wait 5-10mins for someone to get us a table. Seated, with no flower on our table, it was V Day! Other tables had it, jus not ours! Ordered our food. Steak was terrible! It was burnt n dried! I'm preggers n cannot eat raw foods so asked for my salmon to b fully cooked. It came out half raw! With no sauce! The waiter didn't care! Had to ask for sauce n pay for it! Four course meal for $89 n all we got was terrible food! Never coming again! Not surprising dat we didn't leave a tip, the manager treated u badly. No customer service at all

Poor service. My husband and I went to Steerson's for lunch on Saturday. It was a cold, wet and windy day. When we were greeted upon arrival, we were told that we had a table outside - which I questioned given it was one of the worst days of the year! We had a Travelzoo voucher and felt like this had an impact on the service we received. Overall the service was poor and the staff were not very professional or friendly. We ordered some bread to nibble on whilst we looked at the menu - halfway through eating the waitress started to clear our side plates and I had to ask her to put them back as we hadn't finished - I wouldn't have minded but when you're paying $7 for some bread and butter I wanted to finish it. The food was overall pretty good - steak was cooked well, onion rings were a big mistake (very greasy) and the sauces were disappointing. Dessert was good. When it came to paying the bill their system went down so they had our credit card for at least 25 minutes - they forgot to put our bill through so we were sitting there for 30 minutes waiting and we didn't receive an apology.

Overall, I'd say the experience was poor - service was terrible and not what you'd expect from a restaurant charging you over $100 per person. Food was OK but I've been to much better steak restaurants in the past.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless they're looking for an overpriced, average dinner served by miserable staff.
St Cinnamon
Great steak, service was a bit weird (they seemed a bit busy & very "section" oriented). The iceberg salad (literally a few undressed leaves of iceberg lettuce) was laughable
Eugene
Overpriced. Had to pay for bread. Not even the 3 hatted restaurants charge for bread. The portion size of the sauce was tiny and not worth paying extra. Steak itself was quite ordinary. Surprised they are rated so high.
Mrspooksie
We had a beautiful meal and the service was good. Its not exactly what id call an exciting or funky place but has a lovely position and they cooked a great steak. The sauces were fab too. Id definitely return. An overall good dining experience.
Sarahjaneriley1
Nice view, terrible service, pathetic food.. To start with the positives the steak was well cooked. The positives end there.

Sauces to go with the steaks were terrible. We ordered a tomato salad ($13 for just tomatoes) and the tomatoes were so old they were all soggy and some were even beginning to ferment. Onion rings were so covered in batter it was hard to find onion.

Then the wine list.... We ordered a 2008 Shiraz, when the waitress brought a 2009 and then had the manager and sommelier try to tell us don't worry, this is what always happens, none of our wine vintages are the same as the menu, but yes the younger wines are the same price.

Don't come here, $100 per head for a very average meal is not my idea of a great night out.
Foodie
I love dining here as their food is delicious, the service is lovely and the view is not bad either. Ideal for first date, valentines or just a friendly gathering with friends.
Ryan Ryot Bownds
Great Food, Average Service. Got a few things wrong with the beers but to their credit they comped them. Generally they were bordering on rude at times and weren't overly prompt.

It was about an hour until the food was ready, but everything was cooked well especially the mushroom side.

I'd expect better service for this money.
Dan
I have been back here twice in the last four months. They know how to cook a steak. It's far from cheap but, well worth it
The Hungry Badger
Good food but overpriced. I can't really say too much about the place as I was dealing with a helluva headache at the time.....but, suffice it to say the beef bourguignon pie I had was incredibly tasty (loads of slow cooked beef, plenty of filling and crunchy pastry) and the wine was good (what they had left of the list anyway).

The service felt a bit stiff and the seating was pretty average (outside on a cold night with the rain-covers out)...actually, the seating looked and felt like poolside furniture.

If there's nowhere else to go and you can afford to eat there and you don't mind sitting in a cold wind-tunnel, this is the place for you.
Jo Loves Good Food
Food was good! Service was awesome! Nothing to complain about, good casual lunch!

Where's the service?. The worst experience I've ever had!
Rob
Wow what a night out. They were so busy on Saturday night. Expected to wait but everything came out promptly and to our liking. The Manager in charge was great think his name was Robert. The staff were so friendly ecspecially Manuel who knew everthing about steak. If you want to go some where where the staff give a shit about you I recommend Steersons!!!!!!! Thanks guys you were great see you again soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kc
The worst customer service in the world. We received a butterflied dried out rib eye, complained about it being butterflied and the maitre'd argued with us on the trading floor quoting " i can guarantee you 500% it was not butterflied" yet the othermeal was also rib eye and served as expected. Extremelypoor service, and over priced, never ever again, even if it was free!
Peter Nikoletatos
I recommend the Angus Rib Eye medium rare. Great wine list. Great harbour views.
Vanessa Tilman
Bad. I thought this was the same Kingsleys as in Canberra, and Wooloomooloo. WRONG! When we got there, there was a sign on the door to say it's 'Steersons'. It's not Kingsleys, it's worse and more expensive. We had a party of 16, and for 2 courses and some drinks it came to $95 each! We weren't anywhere near getting a hangover either - it was with my parents and grandparents! Go to Wooloomooloo instead.
Marcus Hamilton
4 friends, a great view, GREAT steak & fantastic staff + a wine list that caters for everyone = a perfect night! Would recommend to all! Caution - the great might comes at a price - but it's well worth it....the hangover proves it :-)
