Review The Butler Potts Point - Sydney

Abigail Morcom
Amazing food, service and view!! Three in one package, as soon as we walked in the ambiance was great. The food was all freshly cooked and came out fast, our drinks were delicious and the view was the best part. The waiter serving us was helpful and made some recommendations and was very friendly. We enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back soon!! Highly recommended this place 😊

First time at The Butler :) What a beautiful venue! We had a banquet menu for my mate’s birthday, and every item was just delicious. The empinadas were my favourite. They have a vast drinks menu, and the cocktails my friends looked fabulous. My glass of Riesling was great too! The staff were friendly and attentive. Thank you folks at The Butler for a lovely evening.

A really outstanding dining experience in Potts Point. The food was sensational. The cocktails and wine list were excellent. The staff were also super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended plus the view over Sydney is worth a million dollars.

Gorgeous venue and amazing food, love the Iberian cuisine. Cannot fault any of the dishes - from the oysters, to the tartare, gnocchi, honestly everything was divine. Cocktails and dessert were delicious and great service from the team. Highly recommend sitting in the courtyard to enjoy the beautiful view. We were so full from our lunch, we had to skip dinner haha.

It was our first time dining at The Butler and did not disappoint! Everything we ordered had excellent flavors. Great mix of modern ibero american dishes and the server who attended us was really friendly and helpful with the menu. ❀ Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Update 18Mar22: went for a work function and had a great time. Service was magnificent and food was outstanding. I particularly liked the sashimi and the lamb. Cocktails seemed awesome as well though I didn't have any.

The Butler never disappoints! A beautiful ambience, with upstairs and downstairs seating for groups of all sizes. I’ve enjoyed dinner on the outdoor landing with city views, and on my recent visit enjoyed cocktails and dessert (the divine chocolate mousse) on the upper landing with the night lights. The place can get very busy so definitely recommend booking on weekends or for groups of larger than two đŸ„°

Very chill vibes, great for a cute date with friends or a significant other. Service was spot on, they were very attentive and was able to give some recommendations especially if it’s your first time there. They explain the menu and let’s you know about the specials with the price. Food was more on a sharing type experience. Drinks were lovely as they had cute little details on the drinks. The outside has a lovely view as well when referring to seating.

Fab venue, fab view. Great service. All staff so attentive and friendly. No pretentiousness at all which is rare these days in Surry hills, eastern sub bars/restaurants. Delicious food couldn't fault it and cocktails and wine to die for. Loved it all and would def go back. We stayed way over our 2 hour sitting but the staff didn't mind at all and just let us get on with it. đŸ˜ș

Nice location, good food. But geez the service is terrible. The staff is capable of forgetting things the minute you ask them. Friendly, but totally oblivious to what’s going on in their restaurant. Drinks never came with the food, or they never came at all. We were charged with drinks we didn’t order. The lack of customer care is horrifying. If the service was on point it would have been a great night out. Sad.

We celebrated my godson's 25th birthday on Sunday. There were 8 of us, including a 92 year old Nanna. The staff set up two different tables for us - one inside and one on the terrace for Nanna depending on which was most comfortable for her. She chose the terrace. Fantastic! Our waiter was Inia and was great - very helpful. We chose the banquet and it was amazing - no room for dessert and Inia offered to pack up the leftover lamb and couscous for us to take home! And our drinks/cocktails were yummy. One and only criticism is the charge for tap water for the table. Really? Not inexpensive but so much beautiful food! Can't recommend enough! Thanks, The Butler, for giving us such a special experience.

We came on a Tuesday night. It was packed - lucky we booked. The view was fantastic from all aspects of the restaurant. We are both vegetarian and had the quinoa, goat's cheese, potatoes in paprika (awesome), cauliflower, and bread with humus. But the favourite was the dessert - Chocolate Stick. Definitely earned brownie points with my date. Also the Prosecco goes down well with the food. Topped with great service, we will be seeing you again guys !

Amazing setting, great decor, good service, but not a great variety of food and servings where too small. If you like meat, seafood and especially raw seafood this place may suit you (though you'll still pay a premium for small dishes), but everyone else might be disappointed. They did have a good selection of GF foods, but primarily of the uncooked seafood variety.
Emily Goodreid
The lemon meringue gelato plate was unreal!!! Great atmosphere, food and cocktail menu too... Flawless.

Love “The Butler” I’m a local and go often. Great place to take out-a-Towner’s gorgeous view. Food consistently amazing. Staff consistently friendly engaging and genuine. Highly recommend ïżœïżœ

The view was magnificent. I had a lovely couple of glasses of wine. Unfortunately the service and food was not very good. We may have hit them on an off night, but right from the person who greeted us to the person that served us it was very poor. The food wasn’t amazing either, but it was cheap. If you want a nice meal and great service, try up the road at Fratelli, can’t fault them in any respect.
Glynis Cochrane
Fabulous view form the terrace. Fantastic vibe in the place. Amazing selection of food. And the wait staff were friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful lunch.

Chocolate bar desert (too much for 1) and rum/maple espresso martini were great but the spicy sweetcorn ïżœ was the Star !!!!

First time for myself and my Husband. Recommend by friends. Absolutely loved it. The cocktails, spanishbeer and food were first class. The customer service was excellent & waiting staff were very friendly. Can’t wait to go back again. The Butler is a visually Beautiful restaurant, as is the food with stacks of tasteđŸ‘đŸœđŸ’Ż

On the same day of booking my fiancé and I requested a table with a view to celebrate a few occasions and our request was met. The food and service was impeccable and each dish came out one by one continuously after we'd finish the last one so we weren't left waiting for ages and didn't have all the entrees together. We ordered the lamb shoulder as the main to share, its 1.2kg, slow cooked for 18 hours and just melted in our mouths. We couldn't finish it! We ordered 4 entrees and 2 sides. Thy do recommend less for a couple but we wanted to try a few different things and we were overall impressed. Highly recommended. Request a table outside to enjoy the view while you dine!
Nicole Billett
Great food and service with a view that ties your breath away
Kerryn Edwards
Just fantastic - the food, the cocktails, the service and the whole vibe. Fantastic evening, couldn't recommend highly enough

Lamb shoulder a standout as are the expression martinis great view and very nice helpful staff. Would recommend the Butler to anyone.

A delightful experience made even more special by Rosey, our server... Her suggestions were great, serving sizes perfect, and dessert was superb - lemon meringue!!!
Bitesandstamps - Kamellia
Some of the best customer service I have ever had in Australia. The staff are so attentive and friendly, they were able to seat us on a Saturday at the table we wanted without reservations, and were always there to refill our waters and pick up our empty plates. The food came was also exceptional! It came out so fast and was absolutely delicious. We ordered the empanadas and the vegan eggplants and both were incredible. Will definitely be back to try some of their seafood dishes and cocktails.

Lovely space, magnificent aspect, wonderful staff, forgettable food. The flavours of the South West are so understated as to be suffocated here at The Butler, which is a real shame. They were on point with the achiote red rice, but everything else was just bland
Claire Howson
From the outside, this place is quite unassuming, but once you step inside, it feels like you are miles away from the hustle and bustle of the Potts Point/Kings Cross area. <br/>The food was solid, the drinks were great, the atmosphere is fun and the views are wonderful.
1900.
The garden like decor offers a different dining experience, nice city view . Food was delicious! Only got chance to take photos of 2 dishes as couldn't wait to finish others. Will definitely go back

Headed to The Butler for lunch and what an amazing experience it was. Friendly service without being overbearing. A gorgeous outdoor area with views over Sydney, and delicious food makes for a great day. Food was so good, the pork carnitas were so tasty as was the cauliflower salad. Would definitely go back when next nearby.

What I remember about Mezzaluna, The Butler’s predecessor, was that it was formal and fancy. It was there for 20 years! The vibe I got from The Butler was very different: light, airy and casual, and a beautiful outlook over Wooloomooloo and the City. We were there for a Friday lunch, and I thought it was pretty much perfect. Each dish was delicious. There are influences from Latin America and Asia.
Mementos
Great location and interesting menu & interior design. Music, amazing view of the city plus 5-star service. Would give 3.5 for what we ordered, yet 5/5 for ambience and really easy-going staff. I’m happy to visit again to see if I can find a favourite dish from their South American menu:)
Daniel Wirjoprawiro
A go-to hang out spot in Potts Point with a unique and beautiful view of the city! Great selection of drinks, stylish decor and friendly service!

Cured Ora King Salmon: 😍 Amazing <br/>Wagyu Striploin : 😁 Great <br/>Salt & Sugar Baked Beets : 😍 Amazing <br/>Pandas Panna Cotta : 😍 Amazing <br/><br/>Having a walk around Potts Point, we stumbled upon what was possibly one of the best hidden gems. Top quality ingredients presented beautifully on the plate with a view of the city worth soaking. The Cured Ora Salmon was divine and melted in your mouth. The Wagyu Striploin was a bit tough and hard to chew (cooked medium rare) but the marinade was delicious and I think it was good to have the baked beets on the side with this dish. The Panna Cotta was just heavenly. Everything about it was beautiful. The flavours, the textures, the presentation and is definitely a must try if you’re dining at The Butler.
Tj Joshi
Amazing food. The portions were quite small however, when purchasing a large spread of food it comes to a very decent price considering location and quality. The service was a bit mediocre with staff rushing customers a bit and not paying too much attention. #food
Hungry Vixen
Hmm, not entirely sure what all the rave is about. The views and ambiance I’m guessing. Had the banquet menu so had a chance to trial most of the dishes, -very inconsistent in terms of flavour and quality, the dishes are small even for sharing, some were overly salty, some lacked any flavour. $18 for cocktails :)). I’m not sure if I would add this place to the list of favourites. Overall, probably 3 stars at the most if you consider value for money and taste. 5 stars for the views of the CBD skyline
Porciniforme
What a beautiful place. It's popular but still manages to feel intimate and personal, and yes the views of the skyline certainly give it the wow factor (ask for a table outside). The food doesn't disappoint either, with obvious talent in the kitchen. The rock oysters are definitely worth a look, even if you don't like oysters. The ruby tuna has just the right amount of kick and charm. The charred octopus is also done well, although it seemed to cool quite quickly, so get into it while you can if you're sitting outside. This food here very much reminds me of Pazar Food Collective for those who know it, although here the influences here are more Spanish and Portuguese. It's all delicious, so take a date and make the most of it.
Looks And Cooks
Must go. It’s bright, fun and you’ll want to stay for a long lunch. The venue is incredible and offers a unique view of the city skyline. They have decorated the restaurant lovely and decor is perfect.
Marianna Tuccia
I love the views of Sydney from The Butler. It’s the perfect spot for a long lunch. The food, which is quality, is designed to share and the waiting staff are informative and attentive. And as a bonus it’s not too overly expensive given it’s in Potts Point. #thebutler

Food: Portions a bit small, nicely plated. Disappointed there was no dessert options.<br/>Tried both to share cocktails which were ok.<br/><br/>Ambience: Lots of noise considering it was a Saturday night. Glad we got seated outside where we got to admire the view during sunset.<br/><br/>Service: Front of house was very welcoming and lovely. Waitstaff attentive
Hungry Diner
Very cool place with a move view out the back. They know how to mix cocktails and the service is so friendly.<br/>A great birthday venue or sundowners.
BluCloud
The view is amazing, so is the food and friendly staff. <br/><br/>Love the pate and wagyu beef. And it’s an interesting combination for them to put chilli sauce and rock oyster together.
Armin Kuhestani
Food is average but vibe, drinks and view are amazing. Unfortunately you are being told off to the main area if you come for just drinks in the evening and therefore not on my list to visit ever again!
VV
friendly environment with nice drinksparty girls and boys around. Love the environment! Food is average. Octopus was nice but not the main course.

It’s a Tropical Paradise in Potts Point. We popped in here for a birthday event and were kindly greeted by staff, and got a seat outside overlooking Sydney's Skyline. Perfect spot to watch the sunset. We had a share cocktail and a number of small and large share plates. The food is made to share and highlights of the meal were Balmain Bugs and a delectable lamb shoulder. Would strongly suggest this for an event and make sure you get a set outside overlooking Sydney.
Charlene Lu
Love this place! You never know how amazing it is inside if you just look at it from the entry. Beautiful city view and nice place for dine in. The chicken sliders is a must try.

We came here for a group function for a birthday celebration and yes, this place was impressive!! From its buzzy atmosphere with cool cocktails in the upstairs bar waiting area to the great setting inside the restaurant with leafy fans and great ambience to the amazing city views from their outdoor terrace area. <br/>The food was exquisite in looks and taste, packing a punch in every bite. Cocktails and food is more on the pricey side but this is what you get in a Sydney hot spot but the quality does not disappoint!<br/>A very busy restaurant/bar with nice service, just make sure you book a table well ahead of time!
Theeconomicfoodie
I dined here on a Friday night with a friend. We pre-booked a table and were seated in the undercover inddor/outdoor area. It was severely storming that night but the area was well protected from the weather giving us a nice view of the city. We ordered a series of share plates both small, large, side dishes, one of the specials and dessert. We had the tuna tartare, duck liver pate (special), the lamb, roasted cauliflower and lemon panacotta with passionfruit. All the food was delicious and filling. The dishes are definitely designed to share and give you a great way to try a large portion of the menu. Overall, I had a good experience at the Butler. The wait staff were attentive and food was served promptly. They also had a nice selection of beer and wine available to pair with the meal. I would say that this would be somewhere to dine if you're looking for something a bit more fancy than "cheap and cheerful". For the five dishes and two drinks each, we paid $80 pp. I only managed to get a couple of photos as the area where we were sitting was quite dark!
Vondelicious
Blink and you’ll miss it. The Butler’s entrance is as inconspicuous as restaurants get, a tiny green building nestled between two town houses which would easily be mistaken for a residential building. But it’s anything but once you’re inside, a beautifully decked out venue with a panoramic view of the harbour. Just check out their pics on Instagram and you’ll see what I mean.

Took my partner out for his birthday dinner. I made a special request as a little surprise for him as specific table sitting with view and birthday plate, the staffs here were soo amazing and went beyond my expectations. Food was a solid 5/5, service was 7/5. The manager on the night even took our dessert off the bill as my partner’s birthday. <br/>Overall, we had such a memorable night and we cant wait to come back to this hidden gem again:) thank you the Butler for having us

Went to this place for my anniversary, and the service was just so friendly and outstanding, we were very taken care. The view was amazing at night, the aesthetic to it is very deep and romantic. Just the atmosphere was so nice with the decor and music. The food in my opinion was totally worth it, as they do shared platters, it filled our tummies quite good with about 4-5 plates. And their cocktails are so awsome it’s not funny, 100% would go back, highly recommend.<br/>

5/5 Decor, view and location <br/>They get excellent view of Sydney city 🌃 ~~~ no matter you just wanna grab a drink or have a decent meal with you bestie of your Mr./Mrs Right, The Butler is not bad choice! Cozy yard seating with green plants đŸŒ±, lovely staff and warm heater let you stay longer and chat more~ <br/><br/>2/5 food <br/>I am really sorry to say we didn’t enjoy the food at all. The grilled octopus 🐙 is super salty and over cooked. After the first bite, cannot have one more piece. <br/><br/>Hunter steak đŸ„© lol.... ewww... ewwww..... sorry, maximum 3 our of 5. But I do love the baby carrot đŸ„•! Lol <br/><br/>4/5 Sweet corn đŸŒœ and chips ~~~ <br/>This one is not bad, suitable for sharing. Grilled corn with shaved cheese. And Mexican style corn chips. <br/><br/>3/5 Barramundi <br/>Not bad, fresh but I won’t recommend if you are barramundi lover.<br/><br/>Try at Flying Fish! Barramundi at Flying Fish is best in Sydney!
Tessie
Went for my birthday and would definitely return for any other occasion (or just because). The seafood was beautifully prepared with the star dish and absolute standout for me being the char grilled octopus. The desserts and cocktails were delightful also!
Love At First Bite
The Butler is a restaurant and bar in Potts Point that is famous for their beautiful decor, view of the Sydney skyline and share plates of food. It is the perfect place to celebrate a friends birthday so we came here to do just that. To start off, we ordered the Kingfish crudo with jalapeno and cucumber. I love sashimi and this was a great ceviche, the kingfish was well marinated and the jalapeno gave it a great kick.
Isabel Wang
Really nice restaurant, very packed on sat. Friendly staff and nice food, will go back~. The food is little bit small in portion and dessert is very generous
Bite The Looks By BHA
Come to this place for the first time, such a great ambience for me to experience this. I sit outside with a beautiful scenery surround me. The staffs were really friendly and kind. They served me really well.<br/><br/>I order the lamb ribs and massive portion(1.2 kg). The meat was so tender and juicy, lots of flavour, perfectly seasoned & cooked to perfection. The meat was easily pulled from the ribs. You can imagine how good and full your tummy was!<br/><br/>The chips was good too. It was crispy and not to oily, the spicy mayo was exceptional. My faveeee!<br/><br/>The cocktail was nice too! Recommended by the staff as the cocktail of the day.<br/><br/>The chocolate dessert was good too. Thick chocolate cake with cookies crumble on the bottom of the cake. The pecan eas crunchy, Its not too sweet, just a perfect balance. However, there’s no wow factor, just an average taste.. <br/><br/>Overall,good food, good ambience, nice staffs. Will come back again in the future!<br/>#BHAsFoodDiary

It was a sunday night and not really busy. We started with the drinks, a mocktail and a special cocktail, which were really good. For starters, we ordered the cured salmon, I really enjoyed it, it was flavoursome, a bit sour, but fresh, a really nice way to start a meal. We also ordered the pork empanadas, it was kind of middle eastern flavour, not my type of food but it was still yum. Then the cauliflower, probs my favorite dish of the night!!! I love the cauliflowers like roasted, full of flavour on the outside, but remains the sweetness of itself on the inside😍I just cant resist it😋But the wagyu for the main was a bit disappointed, no flavour, tender but not juicy, a bit dry. And because the wagyu skin itself is dry, the corn tortilla accompanied with it didnt lift the dish, made the dish even drier instead. However, the customer service was great! Everyone made us feel welcoming, and one of the staff took the price of the wagyu skin off for us because it wasnt very pleasant, so overall it was a pleasant night.

Finding a place with a gorgeous view and delicious food to match isn't always easy. The Butler in Potts Point is definitely one to add to the list. My friends and I got a great table in the terrace area surrounded by hanging plants and with an unobstructed view of the beautiful Sydney skyline. The food has strong influences from South America and is made for sharing. For stressless ordering, we went with the Banquet menu for $60.
Jenny
The service, food and view was absolutely amazing!! <br/>I would definitely recommended the smoked croquettes - a unique flavour and great texture: deep fried on the outside and mooshy on the inside, seasonal grilled fish - again very unique flavour and a really nice balanced meal and the kimchi chicken sliders - although, i'm not a fan of cold slaw in my burgers it tasted really good. <br/><br/>The cocktails were really nice and you could actually taste alcohol, they're $18 each so your average city price. Would recommend the Please & Thank you and King Konga, we tried two other cocktails - I don't remember the names but they tasted okay. <br/><br/>Wouldn't recommend the slowed cooked wagyu - it was too tough and dry and the sauce was odd but in too my liking.
Phfat
Food is so amazing! And such a lovely ambience, perfect for date night! The kingfish ceviche entree is delicious, but the cured salmon is better. For main, the barramundi is my absolute favourite the flavours were sensational. The wagyu shin was also just falling apart and amazing, served with soft tortilla. So so good. The chicken sliders were yum but fairly standard. Will return!!

Atmosphere - The restaurant looks well decorated. I was seated also outside as it was a lovely day and was able to enjoy the city view from my seat. <br/><br/>Service - When seated, the waiter explained the menu on my table thoroughly and gave me a run down of what can be expected. Although the drinks weren’t served promptly, the staff communicated that to us and made sure we were occupied meanwhile. <br/><br/>Drinks - Only ordered a Rose Sangria and it was made well.
Eat Play Love Travel
Entering this restaurant and bar through an unassuming entrance off Victoria Street, you don’t expect to find what follows. Flowing from the upstairs bar to the inside restaurant to the outside patio is a calming, tropical oasis. The Butler is taking its design cues from the French Carribean, with stencilled walls, plantation chairs and envious plant game.<br/><br/>The beautiful, summery space makes you feel like you should be drinking Pimms. And, while Pimms is absent from the drinks menu, you don’t notice because there’s a throng of other summery cocktails, all sporting names like ‘When Life Gives You Lemons’ and ‘Ladies Who Lunch’. On a side note, espresso martini lovers will go weak at the knees because the coffee cocktail is offered three different ways: vodka, rum and cognac – your choice.<br/><br/>The lunch and dinner menu is Modern Australian, and designed to be shared. But who wants to share ruby tuna tartare and slow-cooked free range pork belly? Get your stinking mits off my belly of pork!<br/><br/>And, did I mention, there’s full-frontal views of the city skyline that will leave you enamoured? Yep, this place is a Gold Logie.
Diner123
Had dinner hear on Friday night, we were lucky and had a short wait time for a table at 7pm but the line was a lot bigger not long after we arrived. Delicious food and cocktails, very attentive waiters. Good ambience, great for catch up with friends or a date. About $70 per person for dinner and a cocktail each.

The Butler is always very nice to go to, either for lunch or dinner. Food is nice, staff are lovely and if the weather is nice, book/ask to be seated outside! During our lunch we were feeling hungry so think we chose some of the heavier dishes on the menu, I would recommend getting some of the fresher stuff like ceviche or salad as well lol.
Megan J
The view from the courtyard is enough to make an evening here delightful. But they back this up with delicious food and some of the best service I have experienced in Sydney. The tacos, quinoa salad and barramundi were all favourites. Paired with a glass or two of rose and finished with a dark chocolate tart. Once was definitely not enough., I will be back.

[invite] Bianca: The Butler has quietly been chugging along in Potts Point for a few years now. It’s continually been one of my favourite restaurants and it constantly appears in any ‘date night’ suggestions list I’m ever asked for. A breezy, gorgeously renovated terrace style building with literal, million dollar views across the city skyline. Descending down the stairs into the main dining area and the verandah is purely breathtaking. You’d be remiss to think you’d stepped right into Havana.
Leon
The gorgeous skyline of the Domain and the CBD projecting towards the broad covered verandah was certainly one of the highlights when I dined at the Butler two weeks ago. Located on Victoria Street in Potts Point, the beautiful restaurant and bar features a dimly-lit but energetic interior with rows of greenery intertwining with soft rattan-like seats. <br/><br/>Food, however, was pretty ordinary and forgettable. I ordered a buttermilk fried chicken slider with ranch slaw, pickled jalapeño and salsa Macha. The fried chicken was juicy but soggy. Probably the chicken was soaked in oil for a disproportionate duration or prepared in the previous batch. <br/><br/>Next, the slow cooked pork and chipotle empanada with parmesan and and fermented apple puree was ok but lacked fragrance and taste. It looked good though.<br/><br/>Finally, the slow cooked free ranch pork belly, prepared with pumpkin and yoghurt mousse, black garlic, pumpkin caponata and pepitas, was disappointing. The fatty section of the pork belly was stuck stubbornly on my teeth and the skin was hard and bitter. <br/><br/>Overall, the service was acceptable but they got really busy on a weeknight and took a while to attend to you. The Butler is worth going for its gorgeous views but the food and cocktails were underwhelming.

Hidden behind a basic shopfront in Victoria Street, Potts Point, is an amazing gem of a restaurant.<br/><br/>Decor - you walk through a narrow hallway that has a bar on the right, and you come out on a mezzanine overlooking the restaurant. There's a large indoor section and then their amazing terrace - covered in winter and very warm. It would be amazing in summer with views over the city. It reminds me of a Cuban restaurant in New York, very tropical.<br/><br/>Food - The food matched the decor well, lots of Spanish/modern Australian dishes that are designed for sharing. We had the spicy black bean hommus with sourdough (amazing), the cod croquettes (filled with cheese and very strong, but delicious), the quesa fundido (slightly strange - a dish of chopped chirizo sitting in melted cheese with sliced-up tortillas, so you had to build them yourself; still nice), and my husband had the pork belly (he was so full from everything else he didn't finish it, but said it was beautiful). We finished with the chocolate flan (very rich but amazing)<br/><br/>Drinks - I had two of the most delicious cocktails ever! Not very strong though, which annoys me when I pay $20 per drink. The Port and Starboard cocktail is a really nice mix of OP rum, fortified wine and fruit<br/><br/>Price - bring your bills, it's on the pricey side. All the above was $145..the $20 cocktails didn't help!<br/><br/>Service - very attentive and knowledgeable, as you would expect when you pay a lot of money<br/><br/>Overall - DEFINITELY coming back in the summer!<br/>
Karina
Unreal food, flavours, service, and cocktails - we will return.<br/>The barramundi đŸ‘ŒđŸŸ and corn đŸ‘ŒđŸŸ oystersđŸ‘ŒđŸŸ tuna đŸ‘ŒđŸŸ<br/>Great atmosphere, relaxed and pricing on point<br/>

What a perfect place for a long Sunday lunch in the city! You couldn't tell from the simple clean non spectacular facade from the street, what an open, relax, tropical inspire place hidden inside. It's a share plate menu. The three of us got a few of the smaller plates (croquettes, chicken slider, empanada, chorizo quesadilla), the baked barramundi from the larger plate, and flash fried cauliflower from the greenery. All of the food were delicious, loved the fish and the cauliflower. Being dry July we didn't try out the cocktails, but they did look amazing. Service was friendly. The best thing about it was that it all came to less then $30 per person! Will definitely be back for a cocktail or two next time!
The Miniature Life
We came in for some drinks here on a Saturday night. Walking in you find yourself in a very cozy cottage like bar with a fire place on one side. The service here was good, and I loved the warmth of the place overall.
Gstarfoodie
You could almost walk past this place and not notice it. However, once you are in there you will see the great abundance of indoor plants decorating the whole place. The food is South American inspired and twisted with some modern surprises, and all ideal for sharing. The staff were also very friendly and had great humour.
Ciara Mc Donnell
I was brought here by my boyfriend for our anniversary and it was definitely one to remember! We shared quite a few plates but their slow cooked pork belly was the most memorable! Can't wait to go back again! Hats off to our waiteress too, she was so much fun and created cocktails for us based on our likes and dislikes!!
Neil Rafael Sansone
Such a beautiful place, and what a view. Food is amazing but it is quite pricey with very small portion sizes. If you need to impress a date, bring them here.
J M
Popped in for drinks and what a find. It's like a tardis! Unassuming little place from the outside, but it's huge. Fabulous decor and ambience, friendly staff and great cocktails. Definitely be back here to sample the food.
Eatdrinkbe_merry
Oh! What a joyful place to come for lunch! The service is friendly and hospitable! The interiors are chic in a tropical, retro, rattan, vintage, Palm Springs, Beverly Hills Hotel kind of way! The food is delicious and delightful ..... the type of place you want to come back again and again ..... no matter what the occasion may be! Could easily be my new favourite place in Potts Point!
Fussyfoodie
Exceeded my expectations, and I might add, they were very high. Amazing well thought through fresh flavours, great atmosphere, lovely views, attentive service and the cocktail choices are very creative! I recommend the tuna tartare!

Was in Sydney for a long weekend and a friend suggested The Butler.  The food was superb with an exciting menu that offered many options. Our waitress was insightful and helped us with what we ordered, service was fantastic.  We made a booking earlier in the day to ensure we didn't miss out and I am glad we did as the restaurant was jam packed. The wine and cocktails were excellent and I highly recommend you come and dine here. There was a lovely courtyard outside too which looked cosy with a skyline view.
Nick Moffatt
Top notch evening. Great service and food. Worth the effort! The wine list and view is brilliant too. Make the trip to Potts Point. You won't regret it.
NOMNOMLIST
This place surprised me with it's tucked away location, it's view is the mesmerising Sydney skyline. The combination of indoors and outdoors dining shares unique experiences with exotic themes. It's respect to heritage paired with contemporary dining is wonderful for both small and large parties.

What an exceptional venue, i enjoyed everything about my experience at The Butler. Staff are super friendly, really efficient, know the menu and make some cool recommendations. Food is super tasty, as are the cocktails.I would definitely recommend this venue for a catch up between friends or date night.
Pop Culture Food
Sophisticated dining with an unsuspecting, lovely view of the city. We opted for one of the banquet options and were left full and satisfied.<br/><br/>It is a little pricey (coming in at approx $70- $80pp if you order 2 - 4 dishes), but given the location, the view, the wine offerings and the quality of the food, you do get what you pay for. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a classy lunch or dinner experience with girlfriends or even with the family. <br/><br/>A big shout out goes to the kingfish carpaccio and the pork shoulder- these were fantastic dishes packed with flavour and finesse that went so well with the $78 bottle of fancy French Pinot Grigio they had on offer. (I am in no way shape or form a wine connoisseur)<br/><br/>I am tempted to come back here for any special occasion that comes up!

Discovered this restaurant when looking for nice views to dine at Sydney. Really friendly staff with food that has the value for money. I recommend getting the prawns and the organic red wine :)

I loved the atmosphere of the Butler, so bright and up lifting. Service was great, all staff were really friendly. Food was tasty, enjoyed the share plates which meant we could try a bit of everything. This place is great with a group. It's pretty pricey but worth it! When booking I requested a table outside, and unfortunately was seated inside, which was still lovely! But would of loved to be outside with the view of the city. We celebrated my birthday there, and it made it very special and even gave me a candle for my cake.

We had an enjoyable long lunch here, but it wasn't without its issues. On the positive side, it's a beautiful room and setting, the food was very good, as were the drinks. It was let down by the service which, though friendly, was very inconsistent. The greeting made us feel immediately welcome but after being seated it was another 20 minutes before we had a drink in front of us, after struggling to get anyone to pay any attention to us. <br/><br/>The food was great but, as pointed out by others, the tiny plates make eating tricky. More irritating was that out sides arrived with the last of our dishes, which meant we didn't feel like eating half of them. <br/><br/>So, a good meal that fell short of great.
Ho Hum
Yeah, it's a good place to eat and you probably won't be disappointed, but you also won't walk out of there thinking, "that was great!"  The service is fine, the room is fine and the food is fine. But for the price, there are better places around the area.

Had a very lovely lunch at The Butler. The food, ambience and view are amazing - we ended up ordering the $55/pp Butler's Banquet. All the dishes were really good and everyone was quite full after the meal. I particularly enjoyed the fried polenta with gruyĂšre and prawn gumbo with quinoa. We also had a few cocktails with lunch and all were quite enjoyable. I'm not much of an alcohol drinker but I especially loved the jugs of Grandma's Vase and Ladies Who Lunch which were light and refreshing. Recommend this little gem of a place for birthday's and I even saw a party of 10 having a hens lunch together which is a very lovely idea.

Had dinner at the Butler on Sunday night and was both impressed and disappointed all at the same time. The service was friendly, the decor was brilliant and the food was very tasty however there were a number of issues. Our entrees and mains all come out at the same time so not only did we not have enough room on our table for all the dishes but our mains got cold whilst we are our starters. On top of that the serving plates we were given were absolutely minuscule. Made eating quite the challenge. In addition to that a number of our dishes were missing components which then took an eternity to be rectified.

Perfect place for a Friday afternoon drink... Superb view with cocktail jug... Doing as it should be :) <br/><br/>Worth checking out if your in the cross

Perfect for a romantic, casual dinner or for an indulgent Sunday afternoon. The garden décor was perfect with a stunning backdrop of great city views. The perfect combination of simple French dining with nice drinks on the side, The Butler brought back warming memories of my Summer spent in France a couple of years ago. If anyone wants to dine here, I would also recommend taking some French classes! I learnt with this school bit.ly/frenchclassez and thought they were fantastic. I have been learning French ever since my trip last summer and it has definitely taught me more than I thought within a year!
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
The lure of The Butler is actually neither the cocktails, nor the food, but that sundrenched patio; bang on the perfect place to while away a Sydney afternoon. Book early to get a coveted outside table, set under the hanging plants, and time your visit for an hour shy of sunset. You’ll drown in golden light as the last rays of sun cut through the city skyline. Whet your lips on Grandma’s Vase ($35/jug) – the rather twee name is perhaps a nod to camomile, joined by a showering of citrus, Beefeater gin, and enough Aperol to keep it from being insipid.By way of drinking snacks there are Soffritto Croquettes ($15/4) with a fairly uninspiring (and not particularly spicy) tomato relish; and Sausage Rolls ($12) that eat more like pastry-wrapped Lyonnaise pork snags. My dining companion wishes they had used more fat. Call me a heathen, but I wish I could switch out the pineapple relish for good, old-fashioned tomato sauce. We’re all more enamoured with

This place has one of the most beautiful views of the city at night! It's magic. Great atmos, wallpaper, staff and cocktails. Onya Butler 👌👏

Great bar tucked away in Potts Point. Saw this bar mentioned in a must do bar in Sydney review and was not disappointed. First off the bar itself is well decked out and has an amazing view of the city. We got there for sunset and it was amazing. The service was friendly and efficient, no complaints there. We just had some snacks and drinks and everything was great. We shared the polenta, croquettes, oysters and rosemary and garlic flatbread. The oysters were so creamy and the flatbread was sooo good, nothing like I have ever had before. To finish off our Sunday session I had the air France cocktail, so impressed. It was smooth and really delightful, highly recommend.

For some, Valentine's Day was a day to celebrate love with their partners, for others it was a day to bask or bemoan of their singledom, for me it was a day to enjoy a lazy Sunday session with some girlfriends.<br/><br/>The Butler has been on my hitlist for some time, mostly for its airy garden decor. In searching for an appropriate Galentine's lunch spot, The Butler stood out as a girly upmarket bar and restaurant, which would be perfect for knocking back some drinks and food.<br/><br/>Although The Butler was hosting a Valentine's Day menu, it only came into effect for dinner and so lunchtime was still thankfully an a la carte affair. We didn't book and instead just showed up, which led to a seating at the bar rather than on the greeny balcony but as a tradeoff, we got to watch the bartenders do their thing.<br/><br/>We started off with drinks. The cocktail list is a decent length with drinks sure to please most crowds, from sweet and fruity to sour and strong. In line with its botany theme, there are a lot of fresh fruity cocktails and I opted for the Hello Vera, which had a nice kick of alcohol parred back with a girly sweetness that made it easier to drink.<br/><br/>The food menu is French-inspired and in contemporary dining style, is designed to share. We were mainly ordering for Vee and myself since AH had already eaten prior to coming. Straight up, there was not a single thing that we ordered that was bad. Each dish that arrived was better than the last.<br/><br/>The ocean trout was subtle and tender, gaining some flavour from the tasty butter that it was served with. Sometimes greens can appear more as an after-thought rather than a carefully-considered complement but that was not the case in this instance. In this case, the warm shredded salad paired well with the ocean trout, both matched in their delicate flavour and texture.<br/><br/>The lamb rump was an absolute winner in both of our eyes. The lamb was beautifully cooked, medium and just tender enough that it fell apart with our knives. I could have eaten more of the lamb alone. It was very juicy and flavoursome, exactly the way meat should be. Again, the accompaniments went well with the main element, with the wheat providing some carbs to help fill us up and the pomegranate seeds giving it a slightly sweet taste. I can only sing praises for this dish.<br/><br/>Even the sides were good! Admittedly, the salad was never going to be bad if the starring vegie was sweet potato. This was quite a simple salad but it was moreish, and the same goes for the shoestring French fries. They weren't evenly crispy and crunchy but the mayo made up for this and we polished them off with a lick of our salty fingers.<br/><br/>Overall, lunch wasn't a cheap meal but I certainly have no regrets about it. My only complaint is that the service was extremely slow, even when the restaurant wasn't that packed. We waited a long time for our dishes and it was hard trying to gain the attention of a waiter to ask for the bill, even though there were a group of them milling around at the time. I would recommend going to The Butler if you are looking for a tasty meal in an upmarket restaurant with relaxing oasis vibe but expect some slow service and adjust your standards/time accordingly.

Great location, view and vibe. The back section here is nicer than MsGs, just be prepared for the odd mosquito bite.<br/>For 2 we had half dozen oysters (pretty average), the seared tuna (excellent ), lamb rump (delish) and cauliflower salad (great)...all in all a great meal and nice place. Bottle of rose washed it down nicely... Will certainly be back!
Simply Starving
What a beautiful venue! It's the perfect spot for a ladies lunch. We came on a sunny Saturday and stayed for hours. Staff were fantastic and the food was delicious despite the small portions. The cheese board was a let down but the espresso martinis made up for it. Would highly recommend to all!

Been there few weeks back and was impressed as a first timer. Love the nature theme/deco of the place, it enhances the atmosphere. Their chef choice banquet was impressive and worth the try! :)

Dined at the Butler for a work farewell event and really really really enjoyed the food, ambiance and of course the beautiful view! We ordered a huge selection from their menu but the most outstanding dishes for me were the pita crisps, spiced pork ribs with slaw and the sweet potato salad with roasted figs. Service was lovely and very accommodating! Would definitely revisit with a few girlfriends to enjoy a nice Sunday lunch/dinner.

Fabulous!<br/>Great, friendly service. Beautiful, original food, with a gorgeous view and well thought out wine list. <br/><br/>$200 for 2, and well spent. Will be going back. :)

I just love this place. Rose sangria is a must and I find the service to be always fantastic. The food comes out timely and the tapas selection is perfect no matter who your dining with.

This place is a must for dining for any occasion. I have been with my partner 3-4 times and is never a miss. Great menu and service with a spectacular view. Love this place !!

The biggest selling point for this place is the view and the ambience. Big beautiful room with a balcony outlook of the city. The food was tasty by not amazing.

We found ourselves amongst a handful of other diners having a long leisurely lunch at The Butler in Potts Point a few weeks back and was pleasantly surprised on the relaxing atmosphere and laid back feel this place is. Heading on down the stairs to the main restaurant I have a flashback to the 70's with wicker furniture and green foliage painted on the walls.  It is actually very welcoming!
Candice
This place is really busy! We've been told that we need to wait at least 1hr as we couldn't book earlier (fully booked when we called)! But luckily if you don't mind to sit at the bar you get to eat in 15mins! We ordered 5 dishes to share for 3 people, and that's more than enough! We loved everything we ordered! They are a bit slow serving food but the food is definitely worth waiting!
Cheesygoodness
I'm a fan. Great food, excellent service. Not pretentious at all. We had the croquettes, seared tuna and pork ribs and they were all a delight. All the floor staff, bar staff and maitre d were so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended :)

We had a relatively good experience here last night. Busy, so we had a good catch up at the bar and waited for our table. It took the time we expected. <br/>Yet everything about the nights service was disappointing. The wait at the bar to order a drink, the way the woman taking reservations was condescending to me when checking on our table. The waiter was introduced to us when we sat down but basically ignored us all night. I had to check on the wine and food we ordered twice. <br/>Saying all this, I found the food well conceived with interesting flavours. <br/>Overall the experience was better than average. But the staff could try and be a bit more professional for the standard of the restaurant. <br/>I would go back and give it another go one day though.

Great ambiance, nice range of drinks (the cocktail bar is amazing, and the bartenders really have what I call flair, very experienced and charismatic). Its veranda makes it a really great place, especially if you want to strike an impression on someone. Service is very attentive, mannered and staff move around like they know what they're doing. Food also exquisite.

Wow amazing views from this beautiful bar and restaurant. Came for drinks only but I've heard food is amazing, the cocktails, service and atmosphere is great. I want to come back for a trendy brunch.

5th time I have been to the butler, and the best so far. Absolutely love the decor and the view. Really great food and awesome relaxed environment.<br/>Everything we had was delicious - pork sausage rolls, broccoli, trout, lamb ribs. We shared 6 dishes between 4 and had a bottle of french rose and the bill was only $40 each. Such great value for an excellent meal
Lily_nz80
Food was ok. Nothing to rave about. The beef sliders were really bland and so were the dips that came with the pita crisps. The roast broccoli was an interesting dish with a bit of spice to it. The pork ribs were the best dish we tried- flavoursome and tender. Lovely decor inside. Probably best just to come here for drinks.
Sweetandyummie
OMG amazing. Everything about this place i love. I love the location - i love the views - i love the atmosphere - i love the bar - i love the food. This is the perfect spot to hang out with some girlfriends and drink a couple of cocktails and enjoy the fresh air flowing through the doors. The food is great and the customer service is attentive. I highly recommend the salted cod croquettes and the steak frites.

Amazing space- incredible set up. Staff all friendly and happy. These guys also own Bondi hardware and the botanist in Kirribilli- they're killing it. Food is good, was quick and easy to share. Big fan

Poor service average food basic wine list<br/>Fantastic view<br/>We had the banquet it had highs and lows but basic bistro at best.<br/>Wine list was limited and disappointing <br/>Service was basic RSL standard.<br/>Disappointing when the reviews are so good.

From the moment we walked in to our departure, the whole experience was wonderful and very much professional nothing could be faulted. As the menu was designed to share, we ordered four dishes and a side between the two of us and it was more than enough! A must try dish on the menu is the tabasco prawns absolutely full of flavour.<br/>The cocktails were also delicious but the best part of the night was the service provided by our very charismatic waiter Matt who was not only friendly and humorous but attentive to all our needs<br/><br/>Definately will be returning soon!!

Everything about The Butler dining experience is very polished. The restaurant is beautifully designed. The staff are warm and engaging. The cocktails are beyond expectation and the food is delicious.

Amazing view but the food was very average. We ordered the crispy skin pork belly but the skin was no way near to crisp. I personally find that they were trying too hard to put too many elements in a dish and it doesn't really work. I was disappointed with the food. However, service was quite good. Staff were all very friendly. That's a plus side!
Gin'n'Blonde On The Beaches
A real treat. Stunning setting, great atmosphere and excellent service. The sharing style allowed me and my friend to sample a great variety from across the menu, all beautifully presented and full of flavour. I'll be back again.

Hamish Watts and Ben Carroll from Applejack Hospitality (Bondi Hardware, The Botanist, SoCal) have opened their fourth venue called The Butler. Located in Potts Point on Victoria Street where Italian eatery, Mezzaluna used to reside the space has been completely revitalised. With a large outdoor terrace and sweeping views of Sydney’s CBD skyline The Butler feels as though you’ve stepped into a botanical garden. Walk past the entrance bar, down the stairs and you’ll find a spacious restaurant with hanging plants, natural toned wooden furniture and chic jungle inspired wallpaper.

#kningjaeats great food with delicious cocktails and admirable views. I absolutely love this venue with its Parisian influence and open space which is ideal for catch ups. The food is made for sharing and all filled with strong flavours of deliciousness!
