Glad this place was open for a salmon bagel before jury duty. The staff are friendly and there's a good selection of fresh sandwiches to choose from. The toasted salmon bagel was very nice for a breezy morning.

Very convenient location, near Hyde Park—-which needs more cafe actually!
Coffee is nice.Haven’t tried the food again for a while

Love the food was so yummy bread was soft thick and fluffy. And bacon was not too crispy. Also the server was really nice make me fell cozy and comfy.

Nice cosy place - great friendly staff and well priced drinks!

Very average service. Fairly quiet Monday morning, even for a public holiday. Pretty much left alone for 20 minutes before being server or offered water.
Then another half hour before a different server noticed we didn't have any food and came to check on us. She then said she remembered our order getting lost awhile ago and offered to get it remade. At which point we were told they were out of poached eggs, which both highlights that they aren't fresh, but also when it's your mistake we didn't get our food, just make some more!
So we just left.

one word DELICIOUS!!! We went here for breakfast and ordered eggs Benedict, waffles, fritters and granola with fresh fruit. The meals were a great portion and very tasty with friendly service A+++ highly recommended.

Fulfilling waffles and nice addition to the outside dining - with blankets! First restaurant I’ve ever been to feature blankets, cafes take note!!

Fantastic service great coffee too! Had dinner here and breakfast- very good location on the edge of Hyde park. I even had take away dinner which was of a very high standard and still hot when I got back to my hotel. Highly recommend this place, it’s become my regular and I’m only here for another few days!

Was there at lunch with my son and granddaughter. We were meeting daddy fir lunch in his lunch hour. Food was excellent - child's meal do filling she couldn't finish her ice cream. Son and I had a shared plate and coffee. Granddaughter had schnitzel and chips ( and drink and the ice cream). Service friendly and efficient and quick - that last was really appreciated. We sat outside, warmed by the sun and the overhead heaters. Very relaxing as no-one rushed us. A delightful three-generational lunch.

Had breakfast here and quite enjoyed it. The food was good. Coffee very good. The service was amazing! The staff are lovely and very attentive. If I was only rating the staff it would be 5 star. I would recommend.

We've been here for 3 times and the most recent visit was last night!!! and will be visiting again in the future!!!
Waitress on the first visit last year was good, the waitress on the second visit was poor but last night waitress and waiter were the excellent so far. Hopefully, they'll continue that kind of service because with the food there's no question asked it's all scrumptious!!!
Last night's order!
Entrees: Flashed fried squid tossed in a spice mix, served with lime aioli, parsley and fresh chili |
Sizzling Garlic Prawns with white wine, onion, olive oil and sourdough.
Main course: 250 gm Sirloin steak with a dukkah crust, twice cooked potatoes and salsa verde for the two of us!
Dessert: Affogato (Espresso, Frangelico, Hazelnut gelato & Biscotti |
Molten chocolate fondant with crushed pistachio, poached strawberry & vanilla icecream

A beautiful place to sit down and enjoy - My boyfriend and I had such a tasty breakfast each and the staff are friendly - definitely will come back.
Tudor Hermes De Manis
Poor customer service as I had to drag the girl over to my table to order a coffee,as the guys at the front said I had to sit down for somebody to come and take my order.well nobody came.i had to get up and get her.secondly the coffee came lukewarm meaning it wasn't like it's supposed to be,which Is warm but not cold or burnt.then I went in to go to the toilet and the guy at the register yelled out 'you haven't paid for your coffee'....I told him I won't skip the country well at least after I chucked a shit.
A bunch of idiots pretending they're running a business...NOT.
Never in there again.

Tonight my friends and I decided to guve The Canopy a go. It was the greatest decision we made because the food was bloody delicious and we had an amazing waiter. Thank you so much Samuel for making our night a night we'll never forget
Diane Thompson
Generous serves and very friendly staff. Great spot for lunch and a break from shopping. Recommended.

Not too fussed about this place. Mostly tasteless, cold & expensive for what you got -except the pizza which was ok!
Kylene Alderman
We've been to The Canopy several times- for functions as well as lunches & dinners. The food is always fantastic & the customer service exceptional. Today we were back for a Mothers Day lunch. Thank you to everyone at The Canopy for always making the day special!

I would recommend this 100 per cent ,the food is really great and service excellent ,staff fabulous. We stayed in Sydney 8 nights and had meals at the Canopy 7 nights very handy to our hotel Y Hotel on Hyde.

Was a great place to dine, we had not reservation and the staff were very obliging on what seemed to b a busy nite ahead. The food was yum, and the tiramisu was so good.

Went to the canopy pre a show at the Capitol theatre
Great food choices and wine and great price
Kimberly Yates Robinson
We visited the canopy several times this summer. Service was excellent, food was exceptional, and the kid's portions are very generous. We are back home in Texas now and I have to make my husband smashed avocados all the time. I also eat my French toast with mascarpone now! We miss Australia, and your delicious food!
Justine Everaardt
I enjoyed Belgian waffles for breakfast on Saturday, and loved the vibe and great service.

Went here for lunch with some girlfriends. The staff were amazing and food delicious. Recommend the pumpkin quinoa salad with salmon.

2nd time here, 3/5 classic cafe, nothing surprising or eye catching. The food tasted mediocre. The good part about The Canopy (positive ratings)= food serving size and the customer service from the waitress and waiters. They were extremely quick, responsive and enthusiastic. Kept the place clean and tidy. The cons= both times, the food took a while to come out. Indeed it was very busy both times visiting but the food should not take that long for its quality. Recommend only if you are planning to sit for a long time to talk, chill and possibly having a small meeting.
Fork 'n' Spoon
Stopped here for a coffee after walking around the city. The waitress out the front was helpful and told us to pick a table and would someone would come out to take our order.<br/>No menus brought out, so we ordered our usual flat white and a cuppaccino.<br/>It's a lovely cafe to sit outside opposite Hyde Park and watch the world go by.<br/>Unfortunately it was the worsed cup of coffee I have had in Sydney to date. It had an unusual tainted taste which made it not enjoyable.<br/>The table service and the view made up for the bad coffee.<br/>I went to the counter inside to pay where the attendant took my card tapped it and gave my card back with no offer of a receipt. She never asked if I would mind if it was a tap transaction or not.<br/>I find that quite rude. At least give me an option of which way I wish to pay and the right refuse the receipt.<br/>Will look for friendlier coffee shops in the CBD.
The Go Go Mumma
The detox breakfast was just what the body needed... coffees were good and the service was prompt and friendly. A good spot to stop and people watch while you have a meal
Daniella Tania Pino
Ordered a big breakfast and a coffee. Took 45 minutes. Food was ok, but as a tourist in Sydney, wanting to make the most of my time by planning to go on tours at specific times, it was poor service which caused me to miss out.
Esther Gresswell
We came here after a very early morning flight up from Melbourne. The Middle East brekky is a great creation to bring some new fresh flavours mixed in with some old favourites and my partner and I loved it. Coffee was also great!
The Miniature Life
Our trip to Canopy came as a result of us walking around the Sydney CBD and finding a lot of restaurants closed on the labour day long weekend, but hell it was really worth it! It was fantastic because I hadn’t looked up Canopy for reviews or ratings at all which made the experience all the more objective. Right opposite Hyde Park is ‘The Canopy’, and while walking passed it is actually very easy to miss purely because of the distance from the sidewalk.

Beraldo coffee beans is powering this coffee bar.<br/>Piccolo $3.50, not bad at all! <br/>The lemon and passion fruit muffin also worth to try, they are freshly bake in the morning.<br/>

Ordered mix mushroom breakfast, it comes with pouch eggs and sourdough with hollandaise sauce. It tasted abit salty for the sauce and cannot finish it...

Located opposite Hyde Park and Museum station,it was easy to find. This is review is admittedly old and I didn't know i didn't publish this til now,Came for Sunday lunch <br/><br/>Standing outside looking at the menu,it took a while to find staff to get us seated. We walked in and was greeted by staff who were busy walking around doing other things <br/><br/>After being seated and ordering,it took at least half an hour for the food to come out. <br/><br/>The waitress after ordering drinks and 3 items, she said that would be enough for the 2 of us,she was right. Portion sizes are a little bigger than expected <br/><br/>The mushroom and and truffle aranchini didn't have much taste to it,but it was saved by the olive tapenade aioli which had a nice flavoursome taste to it <br/><br/>The poached salmon Nicoise salad had herb and anchovy dressing on it,the dressing to me was like a strong pesto taste. But that was about all I could taste and not enough salmon in there <br/><br/>Exotic mushroom and asparagus risotto was the best of the three. It had a light taste to it and I enjoyed it but for myself the mushrooms aren't that exotic to me, being Chinese I've had them before in Chinese restaurants <br/><br/>The service just reminds me I should do those secret shopper jobs,I still occasional have the experience of being a invisible ninja meaning I don't get seen standing there, this time it almost happened<br/>Food took longer than expected to come out and none of the food we had thrilled our tastebuds, maybe it's what we ordered <br/>
The Dear Luncher
The use of a full blooded, real deal steak in the beef salad here at The Canopy was very much appreciated. As you can see 👇 this is a well prepared, grilled steak and not just some lame beef strips you often get with these dishes. Have at it. 🍖
CherryPie
This is my go-to morning coffee place when I'm working at this end of town but this is the first time I've been for lunch and its as good as my morning coffee. I had the salmon nicoise, which was really delicious and fresh. Other dishes on the table were the prawn linguine and the super impressive club sandwich (yes, food envy). The service was friendly, the only let down is that the meals were a little slow to come out - for a weekday lunch you want to be in and out in under an hour.
Christo.g83
came in for a work lunch, we had pre-ordered via email. There was no soap in the bathroom, advised the manager, he said he'd take a look & never got back to me. I then asked the waitress who went into the bathroom, came out & never got back to me. I then asked the manager again & he came out of the bathroom with soap still on his hands held up as if I were incapable of operating the soap dispenser but clearly the waitress had fixed it without advising anyone. Of the pre-ordered meals, they had left one out and advised we never ordered it yet we had email confirmation that we infact had.Poor service, food was sub-par and above all, overpriced. Would definitely avoid.

The perfect breakfast to end my Sydney trip! A bagel eggs bene with avocado. I don't think I can critique it much - you all know what a good eggs Ben tastes like.

The Canopy is a hidden gem! Lovely wait staff, great location (just by Hyde Park) and delicious food. Would definitely recommend esp for those looking for a bigger size cafe in the city.

My coffee was terrible and the breakfast was not good either. Our server wasn't very nice and the overall experience wasn't that good. Could have been a lot better!
Jennifer Tang
Date night dinner at this restaurant was a nice experience. The staff were really nice and the food didn't take too long to arrive at our table. Food was delicious (i had the duck leg). I would come here again!
Tommy Birken
Came here in a Groupon deal which worked out to be pretty cheap. For entree we ordered fried squid with 5 spice, and mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto. Both were excellent. <br/><br/>For mains we ordered a sirloin steak that was lathered in Dijon mustard with a dukka crust. It came with a side of fried potatoes. It was excellent! <br/><br/>Our second main was a duck dish. It came with two duck marylands which I thought was very generous. <br/><br/>Overall, excellent meal and great value even if we were to come without a voucher.
The RnB Diary
Directly opposite the Hyde Park and Museum Station, the location of Canopy is ideal and accessible, especially after a nice morning walk in the park. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seatings with a lovely interior. Service is friendly and effective, it doesn't hurt for the staff to joke around a bit with customers. <br/><br/>Canopy Egg Nest was the first thing caught our eyes as it is quite different from your usual breakfast or brunch dishes. The eggs are poached first and then wrapped in brick pastry and served with sour cream, smashed avocado, cherry tomato and balsamic reduction. We loved the fact that it came with properly smashed avocado. The pastry was really thin and crispy, which added nice texture to the dish.<br/><br/>The daily special at the time of our visit is the breakfast stack. According to the staff, this is quite a popular item and it might become a regular menu item soon. Poached eggs are laid on top of baby spinach and toasted sourdough, then served with slow roasted tomato and prosciutto wafers, beetroot cubes and goats cheese. It is as good as breakfast combination goes. Everything is married together in superb balance. The freshness of the beetroot coupled with the tanginess of the cheese and saltiness of the prosciutto create a dish with many flavours and texture. <br/><br/>We finished our meal with a sweet ending - the french toast. It is dusted in cinnamon sugar and served with vanilla bean mascarpone and mixed berry compote. The vanilla bean mascarpone was much needed to bring the flavour out of the dish.<br/><br/>We enjoyed our walk in the park and glad to finish the lovely morning with a satisfying breakfast in Canopy.

Just opposite Hyde Park and right outside Museum Station, The Canopy is an amazing restaurant offering a great selection of classic brunch, lunch and dinner plates! On our visit, we tried their great breakfast menu, which is just about to be revamped with some delicious dishes, including the waffles with berries and fresh fruit. The crunchy waffles and the tart berries were a great sweet treat to start the morning!

Visited the canopy for dinner with friends. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the service staff were friendly. We ordered the trio of dips and bread as entree. This included hummus, tzatziki and olive tapenade and it offered a range of flavours which was a nice start to the meal. For mains, we ordered the crispy skinned barramundi, Atlantic salmon fillet, prawn linguini and margherita pizza. Both fish dishes were perfectly cooked and the skin super crispy so I recommend those! The linguini includes chilli flakes which has quite the punch so if you can't handle the chilli, you can request to have it served separately.

This restaurant is located on Elizabeth Street close by to Museum Station and Hyde Park. Service here is lovely even in the early hours of the morning especially Scott who was the main waiter serving us. There is both an indoor and outdoor seating areas and the inside is decorated with forest designs thus their name. Outside there is a coffee cart outside so great for dropping by for a quick coffee and snack to go. <br/><br/>We came here to sample the breakfast menu which is extensive and provides plenty of options even to the fussiest of eaters. We wanted a variety of dishes so went with Wild Mushrooms with a side of bacon, Salmon Gravadlax with a side of wilted baby spinach, and French Toast to share. The mushrooms were cooked well and were bursting with flavour and truffle hollandaise on top of the poached eggs was delicious. The egg on the salmon was a nice accompaniment to the creme fraiche on the bagel. French Toast wasn't too sweet and had a nice berry compote and mascarpone on top. <br/><br/>Thank you to Zomato and the restaurant for offering the chance to dine here.
Coffeebrunchanddinner
Located opposite Museum Station, The Canopy restaurant has some delicious cocktail and dinner options. With both indoor and outdoor seating the restaurant can accommodate small or large groups. <br/><br/>For starters we had the Chinese five spice calamari which was well seasoned and had a good amount of chili. Mains were a difficult choice with a good range of pizzas, pastas and other options such as salmon, steak and confit duck. I was pleasantly surprised by the variation on the menu. We went for the mushroom and asparagus risotto and the Atlantic salmon fillet with vegetables. Both meals were a generous serving and were presented beautifully. The roast veggies and reduction matched the crispy skin salmon and was extremely filling. The crispy skinned barramundi with garlic prawns and quinoa salad will most certainly be a choice for next time. The mains will set you back about $30 and the pizza and pasta options are in the $20 range. This place is so central, has accommodating staff and with a menu that has something for everyone, it is definitely worth a visit
Wei Zhou
ordered 3 big brekkie for 3 people with terribly over toasted raisin dough and plain bread. These bread slices couldn't even be cut by knife and we had to chew really hard to feed ourselves. Eggs were ok and ham was too salty. <br/><br/>2 other friends ordered ham and egg rolls ($7) at the take away stall but were asked if they wanted to have at table, surely we wanted to sit together. So when we got to payment, the ham and bacon meal turned out $13 each, for the service and food is different. We would expect the staff should have let us know the difference when friends ordered food.<br/><br/>anyway, won't come back or recommend.
The Next Rush
Boasting park views in the bustling metropolis that is home to many legal eagles swarming the nearby Downing Centre, the interior wood walls and floor to ceiling glass windows let in a lot of light providing a sophisticated space for all ocassions.<br/><br/>The outside coffee cart is setup for the masses of food traffic of workers, the bar and food catering to the next door hotel guests, residential area and commuters as this venue reflects the personality of this melting pot of lifestyles in and around the CBD.<br/><br/>THE CANOPY CLUB SANDWICH is jam packed with layers of flavour! Pesto tossed chicken breast, bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce, egg avocado salsa and aioli. Such a substantial portion which could easily be shared as its accompanied with fries. The mixing of meats, the crunch of the veg with the mushy textures of egg-avo-aioli were a treat with every bite.<br/><br/>We ended up sharing mains as we were envious of the other's order when they were brought to the table:<br/><br/>THE PRAWN LINGUINI of al dente pasta and prawns swimming in a coating of white wine, garlic, baby spinach and cherry tomato really reminded me of a version of this Jamie Oliver establishments do. There's a slight kick in this that I like with a good balance of protein and pasta. Just make sure to mix in all the elements – the dressing here makes this dish, <br/><br/>The grand showstopper was their CRISPY SKINNED BARRAMUNDI which had a soft flake as you ran your knife on it. Served with garlic prawns and a mediterranean style quinoa salad. It also passed the crispy skin test – done perfectly.<br/><br/>In terms of service there was a nice flow as the staff have a large area to work and maintain both indoors and out. We were given just the right amount of attention without intrusion, the recommendations were spot on, the customer service all round from both the Supervisor Scott and his team who took turns looking after us impeccable. <br/><br/>The versatility of the space as a brunch/lunch destination, stylish bar and coffee-on-the-go gives you many reasons to revisit the charming space. Definitely a must over the Sydney Festival season and beyond!

Had breakfast here with my sister today. The fruit salad was rather disappointing - I hate honey melon it is the DUFF of the fruit kingdom. Not a whole lot of granola either. The breakfast plate was good, you got a whole lot of food, however a bit pricy - 18 aud - no baked beans though which is fine by me because baked beans are DISGUSTING. Okay place, free wifi, but nothing special. Scrambled eggs were rather dry, the sausage wasn't very good and the toast had been drenched in some type of oil.
Jay Aka Areacritic.
Been here about 3yrs back as i live more out towards south west sydney way, especially the truffle oil asparagus n mushroom risotto, it was great then and still is now and i just came 2nyt for my birthday dinz, def. Recommend just for a good entree and this main 😆
Alvin Bell
One of the best spot in the CBD for a restaurant and they obviously capitalize on that, however the food is not always up to standard when you consider the price. When you talking about coffee they definitely find the right spot but for the price they are charging for a main, like the Sirlion, I would expect a bit better, the potatoes side where not that good and the portion of the steak was minimal. Again you pay for the place and the service was quick and nice, so overall not too bad but not fantastic either.
Kerri
Ordered sirloin and salmon. Sirloin was very gristly. If it wasn't for the salsa Verde on the side, I wouldn't have liked the steak at all Potatoes were crunchy on outside and soft on inside so overall average dish. Salmon was a little overcooked. Skin was not crispy enough. Vegetables were nice though. Service was quick. Two dishes (and 2 free wines- a deal on Mondays) came to $70. Only worth it because we had a 25% off voucher making the meal $52.50.
Baz Juan Pablo Sanchez
City cafe bustling with a lot of suits. I'd lie if I said they were perfect, far from it but I like their setup across from the park <br/><br/>The food itself cooked well but a little shabby on the plating but with some work could make them a must city cafe
Issac_eatsalot
Busy little coffee cart at the front of the restaurant. Had a few minutes wait to be served. Few more minutes waiting for my coffee. Was pleasant to drink. Standard skinny cap
Iris Chen
Great. But when I arrived at 1 pm,no more breakfast menu. That's a pity.Avocado smoked salmon burger is good, but the pumpkin salad just normal and quite dry.Love the fresh juice and the prawn, that's amazing.
Gillydoesfood
Been here a few times for coffee and an afternoon snack. The location is really convenient and the interior is nice. The coffee and food also always come out relatively quickly. However the service is somewhat lacking. The waiters could be more friendly and more attentive.
Rebecca Tay
The restaurant wasn't particularly full during my dinner visit, yet food took a while to arrive. Service wasn't super friendly.<br/>The portions were generous and the scallops, in particular, were cooked and seasoned well. I'd visit again to try the breakfast menu.
@paulpayasalad
Canopy used to served very ordinary, plain and normal breakfast. But not anymore! I feel like they changed a lot over this past few years, into a better brunch perfect destination. The tastes got better, the cocktails were made cooler, the desserts tripled its number (now it's so hard to choose) and the hamburgers became so enormous. The bright side, they still keep the price low, that enough said :)

This review was for April 2016 when we bought a Groupon deal for brekky on our visit to Sydney. Upon arrival, the place was quite busy outside where queues of people waiting for their takeaway coffees but quiet inside. Service was good and so was food. We were able to get coffee or freshly squeezed juice with our brekky.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
The Canopy is a relaxed place that's very popular on Friday nights. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff take the time to chat with customers - without overdoing it either.<br/><br/>We were amazed with the entertainment The Canopy has on Friday nights - Julian the magician. This guy is good, really good. He did some incredible card tricks. We kept wondering "How did he do that?"<br/><br/>We started our meal with a couple of entrees. Prosciutto wrapped mozzarella – oven baked with extra olive oil topped with rocket and served with sourdough and we also had sizzling garlic prawns – garlic, chilli, white wine, onion and olive oil served sizzling with sourdough.
Helen Stack
I think this place is just normal cafe with restaurant price which is obviously overpriced. Perhaps the location is the drive of the high price. The confit duck I ordered was really dry and I was not convinced they even really confit it cause it supposed to be melt in your mouth if you do it properly but unfortunately mine was dry and taste a bit bland so I did not enjoy my meal at all. The crispy barramundi from the other table looked good but I am not sure how is the taste
Anthi Gouliotis
Had dinner with a friend using a Our Deal voucher. We arrived on Friday night but unfortunately our booking was not registered in their diary. Still, they were happy to accommodate us at a busy time. The food was beautiful! We had two entrees that we shared and then my friend and I had separate mains. We also had a glass of wine as part of the deal. By the time we got our mains, the restaurant had cleared out and we established that it was a popular eating spot for people attending the theatre. All in all, a good place and I will return.

On our travels to Museum Station we noticed this place was open so decided to stop and have breakfast.. Lucky we did stop cause I was satisfied with my meal.. Wanted to try something different so chose the Dukkah Roast Pumpkin Salad.. Fresh, light and poached eggs were cooked to perfection! Wasn't sure how a poached egg would go with roast pumpkin but the flavours all round complemented each other... Enjoyed the coffee with my breakfast that I had to have another to go!
FoodGloriousFood
Had breakfast here and the food was average. I love baked eggs but the baked eggs from this place was pretty bland and disappointing, and the poached eggs was alright. Nothing spectacular. <br/><br/>The chai latte was lovely but it was overall a mediocre experience, so I don't think I'd revisit anytime soon.
Ivan Lim
I like the place, it was cozy.. And for the food, I ordered the big breakfast set and it was good but nothing special.. Just bacon, egg, sausage etc. i will visit again next time
Pollo_pesce_me
This is coffee and cake review only; ordered flat white and chocolate eclair. Coffee was nice and strong. Eclair was nice but i would prefer cream filling rather than chocolate cream fillings. It wasn't overly sweet though which is a good thing 😊
Irontripaul
Went here for breakfast on a Monday . Coffee was good. Service was good. I Had eggs Benedict which was ok. Not great. Might try again for another meal.

I has the canopy nest as part of the breakfast menu, along with a cranberry juice. The dish consisted of poached eggs, wrapped in some looking nest that is deep fried, served with veggies and balsamic vinegar. Sad to not see any running yolk.

Omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Must go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Their pasta is just so good and big portions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Service are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ana Juliana Villa
It is a convenient local near to museum station. The waiters are very nice people. the menu incluides pizza, pasta, salad and sandwiches. The food is fresh and have a great taste. The service is quite fast.
Robyn
I love this place. So convenient, next to Hyde Park, and still serving lunch til quite late. Food has always been good, I had dinner here one time a few months ago before a show and it was spectacular - my companion had the salmon and was raving about it. Had a pizza for a late lunch most recently and was less keen on the pizza, but it was good - just nothing special. Ambience is surprisingly good, especially for being so CBD-central. Even outside, the tables are nice and solid, and the pavement is so wide that you're back from the road. Great with our dog. Staff are always friendly and courteous, and bathroom is clean and well appointed. My current favourite place in Sydney CBD.
Hazel Hall
We came here for dinner with Ourdeal voucher for 4. Service was average, food was tasty, big portion so good value for money. I'll be happy to come back again.
Justin Brown
This is a great spot for a CBD big brekky; conveniently located just opposite museum station, and only a short walk from George and Pitt street. Our waiter was a really nice Italian bloke who couldn't do too much for us. My flat white was nice, and served in the perfect size mug... The milk to coffee ratio is too often undervalued.
Sally Chu
The food is not as good as I expected. Surprisingly, we ordered and there was one dish they did not serve at all. Chances are that I will never visit the cafe again.
Jewel Eats
Very pleasant all round modern Australian restaurant with a bit of something for everyone, including pizzas, pasta, sandwiches, salads, and steak. We frequently lunch here due to the consistently high standard of food, complemented with the helpful wait staff. The pizzas have a nice selection of toppings.. Today we ordered the ground beef, salami and ham pizza, the pulled pork sandwich, the prosciutto salad, and the prawns linguine.. The pizza is large and tasty, the pulled pork sando was generous, the prawns linguine was hearty and the prosciutto salad very fresh.. Yet again another excellent Friday lunch. One more thing.. The thin cut fries with aioli is also splendid..
Laura B
We visited on a Sunday morning for a late breakfast. The coffee was nice but not worth the half an hour wait. The food was fresh and well plated. Service was friendly but far too slow.
Trisha Donnelly
Great place to hang out with friends for breakfast. Loved the menu, lots of options even gluten free available. The coffee is the best and made just how I like it. They also have a coffee cart out the front which is how I found The Canopy.<br/>Will definitely come back.
Belinda Jones
I was recommended "The Canopy" from a friend and I have been a regular customer since!<br/>The decor is modern and clean with a playful simplicity. <br/>The extensive drinks offer compliments the menu and it is great to have a cocktail or two with Dinner. <br/>I have tried every entree on the menu but my favorite is the Scallops. Always cooked to perfection and the portion size is just right. The dips are to die for with plenty of olives served as a starter. <br/>You cant go wrong with any of the quality Meat options for mains and they serve the best shoestring fries I have ever eaten!<br/>The fresh ingredients and full flavored sauces are a great accompaniment to any of the Mains on offer. <br/>The pastas are a generous size full of flavor, but I never can eat the whole bowl.<br/>I have only ever eaten 1 dessert - The cookies and cream cheesecake. DIVINE, I cant go past it every visit.<br/>Breakfast is a must. My breakfast favorite is the sweetcorn & Zucchini fritters, although the big breakfast comes in as a close second. Well done "The Canopy" I will be back!!
Tereza Todorova
I was a regular here until one morning I wanted to get a coffee before work and as I had to catch the train to work I showed up a it to early at 6.50am. I said hi to the guy who has seen me there numerous times and asked if he can make me a quick cup of coffee to go. All I got was a "no we don't open until 7am". I thought fair enough although he was a bit rude. Next day I walk past them on my way to the station and what do you know - he is making coffee for someone! I made a point of looking at my watch and it was 6.55am! I'll let you make your own conclusions about their service.
Kira Keitomaro
I also found the service to be quite lazy & bad. After we were seated, noone bothered to give us a menu even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Every time we tried to flag down a waiter, he'd tell us to wait a moment just because he was talking to another staff. They are friendly enough but just too busy chatting to each other! The food was normal.
Saludos05
Respectful and knowledgeable wait staff. Nice service, relaxing environment and some views (through the traffic) to Hyde park.<br/><br/>We went with a voucher and were treated courteously<br/>Portion sizes are quite small. The menu was varied and should please most. There are tables out on the pavement as well as inside. I recommend it.
Toby
Went there with 5 people last month with a groupon for breakfast. We reserved a table but when we go there they hadn't officially put a table aside for us. The staff seemed a bit snobby. I liked the creative canopy decor. The food was alright, nothing special. We ordered freshly squeezed juices but they were out of a number of juices. I ordered the truffle eggs benedict, it was tasty at first but then there was a nasty crunch in my mouth - egg shell!!! Since I was almost finished with the dish at that stage I didn't ask for a replacement although when I mentioned it to the waitress she didn't bother to offer anything for it - maybe it was because we came with a groupon, which really shouldn't be allowed to affect the service. Who knows. End of the story is, we wouldn't go back.

The service is not good and the food is average. We had waiters walking past us repeatedly without offering us menus and it wasn't busy because they were standing around talking to each other. When we finally ordered and the food came out (after a wait), the big brekky was missing hash browns and sausage which we had to ask for. We asked for water (several times), salt and pepper because they weren't offered to us. The food was quite dry but at least the eggs were poached nicely.

This place looked promising, however, as soon as I entered, the service by the main waitress was a little unfriendly.<br/><br/>This improved with others being more generous with their manner.<br/><br/>The decor could be so much more, cleaver design, executed very amateurishly.<br/><br/>The menu was broad and contained nothing innovative except for the truffle poached egg item with mushrooms and spinach.. This could have been very high quality, except they used less than adequate ingredients and a hollandaise sauce that overwhelmed the 'truffle'. The use of a standard muffins added to the inadequacy of the experience.<br/><br/>The coffee was high quality.<br/><br/>The establishment serves alcohol, which generally isn't a good sign for a pimped up cafe.<br/><br/>The same name sake coffee cart outside was very busy and seemed to have many frequent and regular customers. This probably confused me into thinking the main cafe was just as impressive.<br/><br/>Wrong.<br/><br/>Handy location.

The Top Line: The canopy is a great place to hang out after work in the city, to catch up with friends or to have a family dinner. We loved the casual-fine setting, simple menu, attentive and helpful staff and the meat… we loved the meat here!!! (Also hear they do great brunches as well!! So I can’t wait to try brunch there one day)

Overall the food is very good and priced well, but the staff was quite slack and not customer friendly. It's a shame because the food is really good!

Dined multiple times here on our stay in Sydney, food is lovely (except those muffins where they serve coffee), the staff are wonderful and friendly. Would go on our next trip, always reliable!

As you first walk in, The Canopy looks like a set from a school play, carved out trees and birds spray painted silver, but there is something charming about the place. Smack bang in the middle of the city, opposite the famous Hyde Park, makes this place great for people watching if you find yourself sitting under the shady trees outside. I've come here a few times now for breakfast, lunch and dinner and every time it has been a pleasant experience, it's what I like to call "a bit of an all rounder" No matter what time of the day you go, there is always something on the menu you feel like. Eggs, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, steak, chicken, veggies. It is not WOW food ( you would think it was for the price), but it's decent sized and has a lot of flavour. They usually have great market fish specials and a solid wine list. I guess you could say this is my regular, the restaurant I go to when I want to go out

My lovely Irish colleague and I shared some fries with aioli (we couldn’t resist!). The aoili was delicious, very garlicky, and the chips were crunchy and golden.

A ordered two eggs (which are typically served on sourdough) with slow-roasted tomatoes with a side of bacon and avocado ($13). A really enjoyed this breakfast and was surprised with the generous serving of bacon provided. Not only was the breakfast generous and tasty, but the coffee was really good. The Canopy imports their house blend of Ionia coffee from Sicily and this freshly ground coffee has a strong and unique flavour. I really enjoyed trying the new coffee bean and thought that the barista made the coffees really well.

Very Very Good!. Prices are not low (unless you manage to grab yourself a deal), but there is nothing cheap about the food either. The scallops, carpaccio and affogato are fantastic. The chocolate tart is death by chocolate; not for the calorie conscious but yummy. Service is perfect. I just wish they had more vegetarian options, but Italian restaurants rarely do... Thanks for a perfect dinner!

Flawless food and service. Two of us dined at dinner on a Groupon voucher on Sunday. Could not fault the entire experience. Booking was easy over the phone on the date of my choice (made more than a month before voucher expiry). Table was ready on arrival with a reserved sign. Staff welcomed warmly and promptly explained the menu. Everything was available to choose from, unlike some restaurants producing a "special" menu for voucher redemptions (codeword for cheaper alternative). Order was taken without having to call a waiter. These were our choices: <br/>Entree - Tasmanian smoked salmon, swedish style mustard sauce, fresh pickled cucumber, salmon roe<br/>Main - a) 100 day grain fed riverina scotch fillet, 300 gram with pepper sauce and roast vegetables<br/>Main - b) 100 day grain fed riverina scotch fillet, 300 gram with Texas BBQ and steamed vegetables<br/>Dessert - a) vanilla cheesecake ,maple glazed banana ,salted caramel, candied peanuts<br/>Dessert - b) rhubarb and apple crumble, roasted pineapple ice cream <br/>Deal included glass of house red or white wine (we chose shiraz) each. The salmon was fresh and flavoursome. The steak was tender (medium cooking request fulfilled). The cheesecake was divine just as the waitress recommended. During the meal, the waitress checked in to see how everything tasted. Plates were cleared without intrusion. <br/>At the conclusion, the staff also politely greeted us farewell.<br/>This was our second visit and we can recommend anybody dining at the Canopy.

Stop flirting with the girls and make my coffee.. I've been here a few times for the morning take away coffee. The service is embarrassingly slow, mostly because (on two occasions) the baristas are too preoccupied with flirting with female customers or wait staff. They won't even acknowledge your existence unless you're an attractive female. I think the managers need to rethink their priorities.

Customer for life. I love this place. The staff are incredible and are very generous - especially if they remember you.<br/>The food is always consistent and is really well-priced for a CBD cafe. It's got a great vibe any time from a Monday morning to Friday after work drinks. <br/>The baristas out the front are SO friendly and seem to genuinely love their job which always puts a smile on my face.<br/>Muffins never seem to taste fresh but the banana bread is delicious.

Im in town for work and Canopy is a few doors down so Ive been eating here quiet a bit the past few days. The place is great. All the staff are super friendly and one of the guys remembered my coffee and brekkie order after just one day! Generous serving of eggs for brekkie and the pizza is amazing - tasty and once again, decently sized.<br/><br/>The only thing i wasn't particularly fond of was the coffee. Otherwise, highly recommend Canopy.

Local eater. I've been here many times as it is in my local area. Service is always friendly but sometimes a bit slow (more than once we have had people at our table finished while others are still waiting). If you sit down outside you might be best popping your head inside to let them know that you are there or it can take a while for them to realise you are there. <br/>Breakfasts are beautiful and reasonably priced but watch the sourdough toast as it can be hard as a rock.<br/>Pizzas are consistently a good option and a good size although last time we went there seems to be 2 menus for dinner, one with pizzas and one 'al a carte' and the whole table can only order from one menu which is a little strange to me. <br/>The milkshake is most certainly nothing special and not worth the $7 they charge but teas and coffees nice and reasonably priced for the area.<br/>Considering many cafes close for the weekend and public holidays in this area it's one of the better options.

Breakfast & lunch. Breakfast:<br/>The first time i got breakfast here, I bought a raspberry muffin. They looked better than all the other ones (which looked really sloppy) NEVER buy a muffin from here. They look as bad as bad as they taste. They are not even golden in colour. They one i had was still undercooked in the middle.<br/>Another time, I decided to give them another chance I decided to steer clear of the muffins. I decided to get a ham & cheese croissant. it was a very mediocre ham & cheese sandwich. nothing too special about it.<br/><br/>Lunch:<br/>I have only ever bought lunch here once with my co-workers. I ordered a Margherita pizza (roma tomatoes, basil, buffalo mozzarella cheese) it was pretty good & not too bad. Good portion of pizza which could have been shared with 2 people.<br/>I was satisfied with my order, however those of my co-workers that ordered sandwiches were pretty upset with what they got.<br/>It sounded like an amazing sandwich (slow roasted pork belly, red cabbage coleslaw, seeded mustard dressing ) but it was pretty small much a one sided sandwich. <br/><br/>10x15cm one sided sandwich for $14 VS. a pizza big enough for 2 at $16. More bang for your buck if you order pizza.

I really wanted to like this restaurant as it is just around the corner from my apartment, but it was just disappointing.<br/><br/>My partner and I went there for dinner that night after deciding we liked the menu. We sat down only to have a completely different menu put in front of us with mains being twice the amount of the menu we saw outside.<br/><br/>Apparently that was a different menu for lunch. Fortunately they were happy to let my partner order from the lunch menu but not until we asked them for that menu. I found that a little deceptive.<br/><br/>After a 45 minute wait for my $32 slow cooked pork belly I was really expecting something good, so I was disappointed to find it was overcooked. I've eaten pork belly at other restaurants such a meat and co for a similar price and it's always been really tender with the far almost melting in my mouth. This pork belly was so dry and the sides were inedible. The crispy skin was so hard my knife wouldn't cut through it so I had to bite it to break it apart but gave up shortly after because it started hurting my teeth.<br/><br/>My partner's chicken schnitzel wasn't much better. They left it in the deep fryer way too long.<br/><br/>It's almost like they forgot about our food until both were overdone.<br/><br/>I hope you have a better experience than I did, but personally for a restaurant that cost is $80 total it was no better than pub grub.

Fantastic Dinner and Wine. Highly recommend the Scallops and Chorizo or stuffed Zuchini flower for Entre, and the Lamb for Main. Cheap Prices. Stayed at the Pullman hotel up the road, nice and close. Oh and try the Duriff wine. Sensational. Not sure about the music selection but other than that the service and food was a hit

Great cafe / restaurant. They make one of the best coffee's I've had in Sydney. Very friendly service. Highly recommended.

Great breakfast special. The canopy has a breakfast special that is just under 10-.<br/>Included is coffee as you want it; eggs cooked as you choose, toast of your choice and bacon. All was cooked to perfection. They even sprinkled some fresh sprouts over the eggs. It was a great value.

Friendly Waiters, But.... For a table of 6, our meals took a bit of time to arrive - we had a late breakfast.

Breakfast. Disappointing breakfast here today, last visit was in August and everything was excellent. It seems there is a new chef and the service was poor today too; we won't be back in the near future.

Great Breakfast!. We had a lovely breakfast here on a Saturday morning recently.

Friday Afternoon Pizza and Wine. Pizza and Wine. Well the weather was nice, weird for this time of year but what an outlook. Pizzas were nice thin crust italian style and we had a bottle of white Italian wine that the waitor recommended. A little noisy because of the traffic. Good atmosphere and great for a feed and drinks afterwork. 8 out of 10.

A bit tacky and not so clean. Needs a serious make over.. Why does this restaurant under perform? It has a wonderful position and is in new premises but its design and presentation seem to be pitched at the lowest common denominator. It looks unclean. The outside area is stained with old food, the tables are cheap and worn and marked and the place has the appearance of something on Campbell Parade at Bondi: ie...tacky. And the coffee trolley is poorly run, looks like a sideshow attraction and is expensive.<br/>This is a shame because the food is 5/10 (a serious chef could sort this in no time) and the venue has potential. It has morphed into one of those places where fast food and alcohol is dispensed at high prices to milling crowds as if at a football venue.<br/>A seriously under performing restaurant on all levels.<br/><br/><br/>-----10 Aug, 2011-----<br/><br/>Very good but a minor tweek?. I live in the adjacent apartment building and use the pizza take-away service. It is fantastic. However...the pizzas need some work in my opinion. <br/><br/>They taste like heaven, are reasonably priced, have a nice thin crust but...they tend to become an unmanageable mess when they are delivered. There seems to be a mass of filling concentrated in the centre that has so much mozzarella that the centre of the pizza turns to mush. It cannot be cut and divided and when you finally get it onto a plate at home it looks terrible. I have tried 3 times and it just defies slicing and transferring from the box.<br/><br/>The pizzas taste so good but there needs to be some work on the plate appeal. Maybe less cheese in the middle for take-aways?

The Canopy - 8.5/10. Being a fan of Italian food an culture i thought i would try this 'Modern Italian' cuisine. The fitout was a wood and concrete feel and while it looks and feel expensive it was really well priced. I had the Procutto pizza(and there was plenty of proscutto) and my partner had the hand cut fries as a starter and we both had the Lobster Fettucine for mains. Not enough wines to choose from on the menu however there was a couple of nice italian bottles. Finished off with Dessert overall i gice it a 8.5 out of 10.

Restaurant The Canopy. 7.7/10 near Hyde Park Sydney So this place is quite new, and ive been wanting to try this Italian place everytime i was walking our dog Pebbles. So we ordered Scrambled eggs, mushroom, tomatoes, bread and spinaxh, from the breakfast menu, penne with mushroom and sausage in cream sauce from the lunch menu. (we went there at 1155am, so we were able to do this) The eggs werent creamy like the ones in Bills, but well-cooked and went well with the bread. I ordered olive oil and parmesan cheese, dipped that onto the bread and it was even more succulent. The penne was creamy, adding parmesan made it thick, the sausages were a good accent. However maybe its too much if u ate that all alone? Maybe sharing two pastas between two to get different tastes will be just good. However the weather was great, and we sat outside with our dog, it was really relaxing and nice for a weekend brunch. Cant wait to go back and try their other Italian dishes!
