On Sunday my family had a late lazy lunch and loved the service, meal of bbqprawns, beef salad, corn bread, meat platter with olives, briskett, mac'n'cheese ,fries, carrots, cabbage slaw. A delicious birthday cake with sorbet to finish not to mention Champas, wine soft drinks and beer .Could not have asked for a better view or decor. Definitely will return soon. Thank. You. My Namesake.
Food was incredible. On the suggestion from the staff, we had the shared bbq platter which great value for money. Service was absolutely first class. I’d recommend highly. In the immortal word “I’ll be back”.
My partner and I had our late Valentine's Day date here and we couldn't have asked for a better night. Our waiter was delightful and every dish served was amazing. We would highly recommend NOLA if you're after a dining experience that has a great atmosphere and a delicious menu!
We will definitely be back! :-)
Awesome food! We were here on Wednesday night for a work dinner, first time here venue is nice, staff were lovely, food was absolutely delicious!
I would recommend Nola to everyone and I would definitely go again, thank you
The food was absolutely fantastic. Service was good and the courses came out as they were ready. We were able to get a table on Saturday without booking head. Honestly the best food I’ve eaten in a long time!
Busy Saturday night, service was attentive and cocktails were great! It was lovely to watch the sunset from the window tables. We didn't have a reservation but we were able to get a later table and we were more than happy to wait in the bar with some delicious oysters. We shared the 2kg Tomahawk steak which was really tasty but left us defeated that we have no room for dessert unfortunately. Will definitely be back to try out more of the menu!
Great food, really helpful staff and our waitress (with the purple hair) was outstanding. Very knowledgeable about the menu. We had a really good night out.
Amazing food & drinks menu! The "zombie" was delicious & perfectly cooked. Make sure you leave room in your dessert stomach for the pecan pie & s'mores
The food was amazing. I was there with a large work group who had a set menu. I can be difficult being dairy and gluten free and currently being pregnant but they were so accomodating. They made me a winter salad for entree that was to die for and gave me gluten/dairy free options for main and dessert to compliment what everyone else had. We all left very satisfied.
What a little hidden away gem. Great place for a Kentucky whiskey. Service was great. Will definitely be back.
Delicious cocktails, a brilliant rioja, delicious meat platter, excited for dessert and fantastic staff. Can’t fault it!!! Def be back.

This was my first time having New Orleans style food before and I enjoyed experiencing delicious, new flavours. We got the Valentines set menu and I found that all the dishes were well presented and thought out, mixing different flavours and textures. The brisket was spectacular - I loved the sauce (hints of red wine), it was juicy and cut so smoothly. I have a huge sweet tooth and the desserts satisfied it. The chocolate mousse was like a fancy smore. Can't wait to dine here again!

Enjoy our pre dinner in this place is the best choice. The place packed with good interior and great service and also their finger food amazing!
I love quiet restaurant and this one will be one of my favourite
Great wine and whiskey selection!
After a particularly horrible week I booked this dinner for my husbands birthday in the hope that it would lift our spirits. Nola delivered and turned out to be just what we needed! We were over an hour late to our booking due to car trouble (when it rains it pours!) and the staff were super accommodating and kind, pushing the booking back until we were able to make it. The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in, special shout out to our waitress who was super lovely and friendly (service with a smile goes a long way in this city!) The food was prompt and delicious, best BBQ spread we have had in ages, and we eat a lot of BBQ. The atmosphere and decor also score top marks. We are looking forward to returning and bringing our family and friends along.
Had a great night with beautiful entrees and main meals and lovely atmosphere. Very filling and well cooked. Service was pleasant and not over-bearing. It is on the pricey side. The deserts lack any wow factor so my advice is not to bother with them. Overall a good establishment.
Stumbled past this place after checking out the Smoke bar. Was on our way home to cook dinner but NOLA came to our rescue. An NO influenced menu and full of delicious items - a little bit of fancy New Orleans in the heart of Sydney. Highlights: the fried chicken entree was super yum. The smoked meats looked delicious. Lowlights: it took quite a while for the mains to come after the appetiser. There was only so much gazing into each other’s eyes we could do.
Nice restaurant with great views and good food. Prices are quite high, but food quality is very good. Service is very friendly, with a very upmarket feel. Serving sizes feel a bit small, but I guess in line with the 'fancy' vibe
I’ve never tasted chicken this good.
I enjoyed my experience at NOLA and am planning to be back again. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and music of the place. Food was amazing !
Very cool bar and tasty cocktails! Beautiful place in the new Barangaroo, and very nice for drinks after dinner. Quiet setting and beautiful views.
Beautiful establishment, cool vibes, excellent service and melt-in-your-mouth cuts to match. You can always tell when the dishes are good when there’s no conversation going on at your table; needless to say the lamb and brisket left us speechless. I loved the culinary experience and would dine at Nola again in a heartbeat (I disagree with other reviews, it’s not a rip off at all). 4.5/5!!!
Excellent location and great service. Menu prices are slightly higher than i’d like - but the food delivered! Good wine list too. Plenty of choices for the wines per glass type. This place is all about the Southern USA style eats = great tasting meats and appetisers. The maple whipped butter and fried southern chicken were the standouts. For mains, the ribs were great as was the scotch fillet and mac n cheese side. Would like the try the ‘zombie’ next time - will need save up the dollars at $179 / kg. Looks a real treat though. Definitely recommend and will be back again for sure.
Nola Smokehouse and Bar is located at Barangaroo. They offer New Orleans inspired menu that is sure to impressive. Pictured are Pit Master’s Pick with selection of BBQ meat & house pickles, it’s a true meatlover’s heaven! Nola also offers delicious range of seafood dishes. Pictured are blackened raw tuna and snapper ceviche. On a side note, I got lost trying to find the restaurant.
A house specialise in smoked meats and BBQ is the new place every meat lovers should be. Nice decor that looks like a boat house this place rocks out good meats. Worth a visit and get the platter for 2.
Awesome themed New Orleans venue in the buzzing area of Barangaroo! Tried the Pit Masters Pick and boy did it impress!! The beef brisket was so tender, pork shoulder smokey and flavoursome, lamb cooked to perfection and my favourite, the juicy smoked chicken. Would recommend for a casual catch up or business lunch! Great selection of wines and great service. Will definitely be returning again!
Attentive and meticulous service! Food was amazing and came out efficiently. We ordered the cornbread, pork shoulder, beef brisket, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. The pork shoulder and beef brisket were to die for, they were so tender and just melted in my mouth I almost died and went to heaven! The sauces that came with the pork shoulder complimented it very well. However, the most outstanding dish of the night was the dessert: peanut butter jelly time. Little crumbles of peanut with the right amount of sweetness, oh my..Can’t get enough of it! We also had the affogato with beignet but the peanut butter dessert was just on point! Thank you Nola for making our night!
The service was so switched on and lovely and able to help me with a dairy egg & wheat allergy. He knew the menu well to describe what I could/n't have. The atmosphere is lovely and we went during Vivid so could see some of it outside the venue. Great New Orleans music playing too. The junee lamb, sides - carrots & brussel sprouts and fillet steak with the marrow hash were amazing!
We had a Saturday night 8:30 group booking.
Service was good, sometimes took a while to find a waiter but when they came they promptly cleared the table, brought food out, topped up our water and gave some great suggestions on cocktails.
With a group booking we had to get the set menu.
Bread and butter came out first. The butter was so fragrant, creamy and tasty. Definitely could have smothered double the amount on a single piece of bread.
Next came the olives and barata. They weren't bad but I'm baised since I don't normally like or eat it. Snapper ceviche was nice and light. Sauce and toppings didn't over power the fish.
The crispy shrimps were so YUMMY. Crunchy and flavourful, better than eating chips.
Next came the beef brisket, pulled pork with sausages and chicken with roasted pork. They all were tasty, not too salty and not dry at all. Sides of slaw and fries accompanied with it.
Definitely a decent portion of meat for 10 girls considering we couldn't finish half.
Out of the three desserts the peacan pie was the least favourite. Quite bitter even when eaten with the icecream. The smores and peanut butter jelly time dessert were definitely more enjoyable to eat.
Overall food is good, little on the expensive side but fits for a good night out.
Nola is a quirky little find in the new establishment of Barangaroo. Perfect #girlsday hangout spot. Great cocktails and great bar food! The ambience is relaxed and encouraging for conversation.
had a nice experience for lunch. Food is presented well and taste good. Entry looks great and the size is relatively generous. side dishes are a good variety. there are options for share or separate manu. staff makes good recommendation. will come back. about $80 per head for 3 course without sides or wine.
Went for some after dinners drinks and snacks at the lounge area and maybe we'll give this place a go in the future?
Fancy American food...why not?
Sweet corn brûlée, very interesting....not serving it in the ramekin is a break from tradition and led us to wonder why don't more restaurants do this? Long story short is yeah we'd order this again....cept we do think the popcorn ice cream feels more like a butter ice cream...maybe some smokiness would make it more popcorn?
Buffalo wings...yeah not spicy enough...unless we're both spewing fire....not buffalo wings :)
NOLA has a great atmosphere and it’s atheistic is beautiful and very fitting (you feel like you have been transported to New Orleans) and the food is lovely. For entree we had the Cornbread and the Bone Marrow, both of which were nice, but not standouts. For main we had the Pulled Pork Shoulder and the Brisket accompanied with the BBQ Sauce; a highlight of that is the brisket (highly recommend). We had the S’mores for dessert, and I would rate that a 5 as it is one of the best desserts I have eaten.
MASSIVE whisky list. Cocktail goals.
Popped into Nola for some pre-dinner refreshments and I was impressed with the cocktails on offer and how well made they were. Often I am disappointed by cocktails in that they are overly filled out with mixers, sweeteners; not so here.
The bar staff are friendly and take their bar service seriously without pomp.
Can’t wait to return to sample some of the foods on offer.
This New Orleans style Smokehouse and Bar is a brilliant choice for a fun night out! Started in the bar section behind a closed curtain for a quiet sneaky cocktail and a chance to chat! Friday evening and the open bar section is filled with corporate types; some of which could have been here for an extended long lunch session. Was summoned to our beautiful table with views out to the water. The interiors definitely have been carefully considered and depict the southern New Orleans vibe. Started with 5 entrees to share between 4! Nothing struck me as necessarily American style... more like modern Australian yet still delicious, fresh and visually exciting! Burrata with charred grapes and pine salsa, Blackened raw tuna w avocado and palm hearts, Charred Octopus, Cajun Fried soft shell crab w lime remoulade and Hiramasa Kingfish w creme fraiche, preserved lemon, fennel and olive crumbs! Went all out for the main to share - a generous 1kg plate of Rangers Valley Prime Rib which was bourbon cured and dry aged for up to 60 days. At $169 per kg this is possibly the most expensive meat I have ever eaten but was also the best flavour I've ever had (and that's saying something coming from a beef farm in NSW). A side of fries and a plate of pickles was the perfect accompaniment for this meatfest! Next...dessert! No holding back now and as we shared and devoured the pecan and Southern Comfort tart w vanilla bean ice-cream, a banana fosters baked cheesecake, a cheese platter and scoops of smoked yoghurt and blackberry sorbet! So happy to have dined with people that were happy to share the menu. A great opportunity to taste so much of this delicious menu! Great southern hospitality, atmosphere and top quality produce! Will definitely be back!
Great location with a breezy summer aesthetic. I read that it's some of the best American grilled food in Sydney and it's certainly decent, though perhaps somewhat overrated.
We went here with a couple of foodie friends as we'd all been wanting to try this place out. In Barangaroo, enter from the street, go up a level and find yourselves opening onto the foyer of the restaurant where you're met with hanging meats and the smokey smell that defines the foods you're going to be met with. The place was absolutely pumped with people. A bar stocked with so many types of liquor and people meeting for drinks as well as a number of tables for dinner. It has a sophisticated, yet casual vibe to it. We ordered the tartare beef to start which was presented beautifully and seasoned nicely. We got a meat dish that was a whole side of meat cut into slices, medium rare with bone marrow mash. It was a whole kilo at a steep $150. We also tried the sides of mac and cheese which was nice but nothing special and some tasty shoestring fries. Not to me missed was the s'mores dessert which a deconstructed plate or biscuit, marshmallow, charcoal and raspberry. The food was good, service rather slow, intact we al commented that not only was it slow, but inattentive.
I just say wow!
If you are a big fan of American food, You MUST try their Brisket, it was so good, I would just comeback only for the brisket.
When I was entering the venue, very friendly host with smile on her face welcomed us, pointed on our booked table next to window so you can see the wharf and water view, awesome!
We started with bread basket, and their signature corn bread is in the mix with 'Pepe Saya' butter on the side.
Since 3 of us couldn't decides what dish to order, I suggested to get every thing on "Meats & BBQ" sections
Beef brisket, smoked pulled pork, organic chicken, spit roast Lamb, and Louisiana style sausages.
Everything we ordered in smaller portion 100 gram each meat ( also serving of 200 gram available ) with chili and eschallots fries on the sides with Slaw.
The Slaw, black cabbages and Brussels Slaw, with lemon and scallions... and the tangy dressing is make this Slaw interesting.
We ordered also the 3 sauces to go with the dish.. Lexington BBQ Ketchup, Green Sauce ( chimichurri ) and Boise Bourdan Relish.
The star for me is definitely the Beef Brisket which it's been marinated with dry rubbed and smoked for 14 hours, with the fries on the side!
Oh Yeah!
Wow. Food is amazing and location really works. Felt better than when I've been in smokehouses in America. Went with work and it was a massive hit. Will go again soon
Tucked away in Barangaroo this American styled Smokehouse serves up some tasty dishes and colourful cocktails. The food was great especially the hummus and slow cooked meats. The staff were Incredible!! So very friendly and really want to make your experience enjoyable! Loved it!!
Had the lamb and brisket from the BBQ menu and the okra and black cabbage brussel sprouts slaw. All the food was amazing. Love the decor and bar area. Would definitely come back to try the other dishes on the menu.
Visited NOLA for lunch today after having a great experience previously for an after work drinks with my friends. The food we order was to share between two, both entree and main which we ordered did not disappoint. The oysters were fresh with a dash of lemon and splash of aged wine source. Our main was grilled selection of lamb and chicken. We had a great experience once again at NOLA. Great service, atmosphere, views and food.
Came here with a group of 10 and we ordered each of the BBQ meats 2 mains & sides to share:
- BBQ Meats: The lamb, duck, chorizo and beef were unfortunately dry. The pulled pork and chicken were enjoyable and tender but not the best I've had.
- Mains: We accidentally ordered the flounder but it ended up being very well cooked and the best of the meat dishes in my opinion, you wouldn't expect that for a Smokehouse! We also ordered the miso eggplant which was my favourite of the mains - full of flavour, eggplant was silky and rich and the crunch of the nuts gave it a nice mix in texture.
- Sides: The fried okra, grilled corn and Mac & cheese were all enjoyable and well seasoned but again, nothing special. Wasn't a big fan of the slaw though.
- Desserts: We ordered 1 of each of the desserts to share and this was the highlight of the night! Absolutely loved the subtle southern comfort flavour of the nutty & rich pecan pie. The deconstructed sweet potato pie had hints of warm & homely nutmeg and the crust was crumbled throughout giving every bite a nice crunch. The cookies & cream also had crumbled cookies throughout and wasn't overly sweet. Each dish was also topped with a smooth ice cream that broke through the creaminess of the dessert really well. All three stand out desserts in my opinion, would be happy to come here just for dessert and cocktails.
If first impressions count then this place ticks the boxes with welcoming service, friendly staff and great decor which transports you to another place. The natural and Rockefeller oysters is what has attracted me in the first place. Sydney Rock Oysters from Merimbula ($4.50) with a very tasty chipotle bloody mary dressing on the side. Seemed to be shucked to order with noticeable brine. Oysters Rockefeller using Coffin Bay Pacifics ($4.50) have a tasty topping and pleasant texture and a good choice for those you can't handle oysters natural. Grilled Jalapeno Cornbread & Paprika Butter, smoked beef dripping, tomato & capsicum salsa ($10) sounds more spicy than it was but was pretty tasty. The soft texture with light crust is a bit like a savoury muffin for me. Definitely shareable between 2-3 people for a taste rather than going solo which will be too filling. My cornbread experience is very limited so I wouldn't know how authentic this is. Jack's Creek Beef Brisket, dry rubbed and smoked 14 hrs ($15, 100g) is fairly tender with some smokiness but I'd love it to be pushed more. The side of sauce it came with was very yummy although not quite sure what it was. There's a few slightly grilled onion cups and an undressed watercress which doesn't really add much flavour to the dish. Simple Slaw with lemon & scallions ($9) is finely shaved and enough to share between two. Nice crisp texture with a dressing that's more noticeable in olive oil than citrus although I tend to prefer a creamy dressing.
On our first visit to Barangaroo we did take us about 10 mins to find Nola in Tower 1 as we didn't realise how extensive Barangaroo was. Once there we were seated by the window and as the sun set we had a lovely view. The food was superb, we ordered a dozen oysters to share, the Brisket x 2, Junee Lamb, Whole Flounder and also a large steak to share. Along with sides of chilli corn, fried okra - both of these were so good and fries and salad. Although a lot of food for 4 people we did manage it as we were all very hungry. For Desert we went for Pecan pies and Blackberry Jelly and Meringue which were amazing. Drinks wise we went for a very smooth Argentinian Malbec, the drink service was seamless, our glasses were constantly filled with wine as well as the water glasses being topped up. I would highly recommend Nola. We were a party of 4 adults but there were also family groups with kids having a great time, Nola caters to all.
I've only heard good things about NOLA - that it was from New Orleans and it was all about the meat. So I had to go find out for myself. So NOLA means New Orleans, the waitress said that's how it sounds when they say New Orleans over there. So who am I to say it's not!
After actually locating the restaurant and entering the lift (lift starts from ground 0 and goes to P1 -seems a bit backwards, but perhaps that's the New Orleans touch), you are greeted by a window to their actual cool room, with cheese and meat hanging. When walking in you are greeted with wide open spaces and the view makes you feel like you're outside (we went for lunch).
We always order everything we like on the menu. Better to be full than hungry.
1. The bread and butter. House made bread is always good. They even had corn bread.
2. Oysters. Always a good pick. That sauce is delicious.
3. Chicken liver Terrine. Delicious. No complaints here.
4. Those yabbies. My gosh they were finger licking good. If only they were bigger!!
5. We have to order some pork - smoked and pulled pork shoulder. Cannot tell you how juicy this was. A little spicy for me (I cannot eat spicy to save my life)
6. Steak with bone marrow hash. Sold on the bone marrow. Small amount but the hash was full flavoured and delicious to match with a perfectly cooked steak, pink and juicy. Pepper crust was done well however too spicy for me, had to scrape it off (told you I'm not good with spices)
7. Mac n cheese with pork - it was nice. But not as nice as everything else.
8. Fries a tad spicy. Fries are always a good idea though.
9. And corn! Spicy but I love corn on a cob!
Now that's a menu of southern BBQ flavours.
& don't forget to try their whisky!
Definitely returning to eat here again. Same food or different food. Still delicious. Could not fault this meal.

NOLA is a new kid on the Barangaroo block, and I was keen to check this one out as it's quite a different offering for the Sydney dining scene.
Located in Tower 1, the restaurant has a nice outlook that scores some afternoon sun and water views. I went just 2 weeks after it opened, with everything still feeling shiny and new, and lots of enthusiastic staff wanting to make your night memorable.
NOLA is more pricey than the venues I frequently visit, but for dinner with an interstate friend it was a nice fancy but not posh, place to take her to enjoy her night in Sydney.
The decor inside is beautiful, there's a well stocked bar and plenty of bar seating where you can enjoy cocktails and bar snacks. And then the main dining area is spacious and beautifully decorated with wood paneling, greenery and vibrant colours. A definite New Orleans vibe, perhaps they just need to get the music pumping a little more!
My friend and I decided to order a bunch of menu items to share, as we wanted to taste it all. Here's a snapshot of what we ordered:
1. 100g of beef brisket. Smoked for 14 hours. The knife cut through the brisket like butter, and the fat melted in your mouth. It didn't even need sauce to accompany it the flavours were so delicious.
2. 100g of pulled pork shoulder. Smoked and saucy just the way I like it.
3. 100g of chicken. Smoked and tea brined, with the skin on, moist and flavoursome.
4. Bois boudran relish and BBQ ketchup. Both nice but struggled to tell the difference between them.
5. Mac n cheese. A generous serving of creamy and cheesy mac, topped with smoked pork because why not order more meat!
6. Fries. Thin fries coated in a moreish chili and eschalot salt.
An absolute feast and more than enough food for the two of us! However of course we left room for dessert, and you'll want to as well as to not miss a tasty range of treats and ice cream flavours!
We ordered the cookies and cream salted buffalo trace caramel. I'm honestly still not entirely sure what that means, but I do know it was delicious. Crushed cookies, honeycomb, berries, vanilla bean ice cream, and some sort of cookies and cream panna cotta almost.
Because we're greedy we also ordered extra ice cream, a scoop of malted milk chocolate and also peanut butter, because we couldn't say no.
Overall a really nice dining experience, great for a date night or a night out with friends. Super attentive staff who know the menu well, great cocktails and food, and lovely atmosphere to enjoy the setting sun on a Sydney eve.
