My experience here was five star. A beautiful, romantic atmosphere, with classy decor which still embraced the Spanish feel. I had the steak which was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was attentive and helpful, the wines were very good and the location is fabulous. The dim lighting is perfect, not too dark but dim enough to provide a swanky ambience. Being in the GPO building adds an element of vibe because it lends itself to easy options for pre or post dinner drinks at one of the stylish bars a few steps away under the same roof. I've added some photos of the surrounds in the building to demonstrate the different areas. I was there for a work dinner but this would be the ideal venue for a date. Really couldn't fault it. I'll definitely be back.
I have stayed at the Westin on a number of occasions but this was the first time I dined at Postales. I had a light meal of tapas with a business acquaintance. It was a weekday evening and the restaurant was not busy. On arrival we were promptly taken to a table and provided with menus and water. I can’t comment much on the wine menu as we only chose from the short list of wines available by the glass but this was still sufficient to provide us with a very good Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir. We were only wanting a light meal and chose 5 tapas dishes. They were all well presented and delicious - my favourite was the pork belly. I plan to return for a full dining experience.
Amazing tapas...loved everything about this place. The seafood tapas is out of this world. Great and friendly staff... Their prawns are to die for.... Highly recommended!
Really excellent Sydney CBD spot. Came here for the lunch special. Service was excellent and very professional. Food was lovely with very generous portion sizes and great balance of flavours. Highly recommended.
Great food, great cosy and intimate atmosphere. Food was speedy from time of order to on table which was not expected for such a classy place.
We had several plates - most memorable was their slow cooked beef cheeks with mash - it was perfect to finish with - most hearty and satisfying!
Great menu and spread, very well
Informed service people. Tried this place thrice and was always happy. The food is great and very tasty. The ambience of the place can be bettrr
Food is amazing, complex blend of flavours yet simply presented. Service was friendly and exquisitly attentive, also felt we were acknowledged. Environmental 10/10, quiet and intimate but with the vibrant sounds of the cbd Sydney. would recommend to anyone who'll listen.
We ordered quite a few tapas to share and a seafood paella. The restaurant has a nice ambience and is suited for a romantic date. It is dimly lit and service was good. The garlic prawns and pork belly were a standout, especially the pork belly which melts in your mouth. The green beans, potatoes and calamari was average and I'd say Subsolo most certainly does a better job there.
Great calamari tapas, garlic prawns, croquettes, baby carrots were really good too - they were the standouts. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly and fast service.

I never realised this restaurant was here at the GPO. It's a bit of a fancy Spanish restaurant. I guess all the restaurants at the GPO are quite upscale.
It had a nice ambience, with the dimmed lights and the interior was nice
We ordered dishes to share. Some of the tapas dishes we ordered were the pork belly, pan-fried scallops wrapped with Jamon and the Postales Valencian paella. It was tasty with a lot of flavour. I really like the paella.
The staff were friendly and helpful with out meal choices. I found this restaurant is probably best for special occasions.
Sizzle your evening in a dim-lit, intimate setting with a variety of flavoursome Spanish tapas from garlic prawns to fried calamari, croquettas and champiniones (mushrooms).
A great place to for tapas and sangria. Low lighting is great for those on dates! Cue romance.
Staff are very helpful with food and beverages choices. I highly recommend the sangria here - very good. To start we tried the:
- Gambas al Ajillo, Sizzling Prawns Cooked in Garlic, Chilli and Tio Pepe Sherry and Calamares Fritos,
-Lightly Fried Calamari Sprinkled with Paprika and served with a Lemon Aioli
- Champiñones, Roasted Mushrooms with Pedro Ximénez Sherry, Herbs, Garlic, Pistachio Crumbs and 12 month Manchego
-Judías Verdes, Green Beans with Garlic, Butter and Sea Salt
Every dish had great flavour! Enjoyed my visit and also ticked the box that i should return in future.
A delightful Spanish restaurant situated on the lower ground level of the GPO Grand. It has an extremely romantic and intimate atmosphere with extremely dim lighting. The typical Spanish dishes are offered, including patatas bravas, paella, garlic prawns and more. I thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes except they didn't fill me up completely. Don't forget to compliment with a glass of sangria/wine or two.
This place is sexy and romantic and is a great place to take your lover or to be lover.. The ambience is soft and the customer service is great.. The tables are spaced out nicely so dont be concerned about the table next to you listening to your sweet nothings... The menu is varied with lots of delicious choices. Make sure you order the sangria and the calamari.
Dimly lit with a lot of ambiance, so makes for a great romantic destination. Only tried a few tapas here on the one occasion, but what I had was delicious. The standout was definitely the mushrooms with aged manchego cheese as well as the chilli and garlic prawns. Fabulous. And such a good match with a few drinks! The sangria was delicious and highly recommended. It's quite sweet but what's a Spanish night without some sweet sangria. Really enjoined this place - great food, great service and a really good atmosphere.
Romance is definitely blooming when you step foot inside Postales. Whether you're in lust or love, Postales will definitely set the mood.
I'm a sucker for mushrooms and their garlic mushrooms were definitely my favorite of the tapas dishes. Highly recommend the prawns and the calamari and definitely don't leave without a traditional glass of sangria.
Always good reliable meal here. Good setting, wide selection of tapas and good deals with food and drink combo. Go to dish is the seafood stew pasta.

I've had tapas and I've had 'tapas'. And this tapas filled the spot. 1 out of 5 was amazing. If you want amazing tapas, not here but you won't be too disappointed. Not the best of what GPO had to offer but you'll be satisfied ( best dish not pictured).
Good staff and service with a reasonable, casual feel. Remember it is in the basement of a hotel. Splash out and give the other restaurants a go if you're there.
Postales Spanish Restaurant is located within the GPO in Sydney. The decore is really romantic and is a bit posh. It's dimly lit and the staff give you little torches so you can read the menu. I caught up with an old friend from my university days and we look through the menu and opt to order a number of dishes on a Thursday night.

P O S T A L E S This is a fancy Spanish tapas restaurant located in the GPO. The service was lovely as was the food. ✌ @foodiesguidetosydney
Classy, yummy, good value for money. Really nice table setting and ambience. Good for dates I reckon though I went with a group. Service was great! Our waitress was really considerate and quick. Paella was the best I had in Sydney (the paella for four was A LOT for 6 people. Warning though, they are not allowed to have you takeaway any seafood so that's a shame as we had seafood paella.) For $40 per head for a group of six, we had two jugs of sangria, 7 big tapas, and a massive plate of paella that we didn't finish. Good value for money and I thought it was worth $60 per head! Each tapa we got was yummy but the jamon and chorizo were the best. Seafood paella is a must. The low rating does not make sense.
A little dark.... We ate here as a group of 4, on April 7th 2014.
Lighting is quite dark.
nice table settings.
paella was ok. a little salty. could have been a little more crispy on the bottom. the chicken was in strips, but if was in chunks it would have been more juice. the strips meant it was a little dry.
There are a few other tapas places I need to try before going back to this one.

Can't believe this place has only 63% rating, this restaurant is one of my favorite places in Sydney. Great food, we tried 7 tapas and not one dish disappointed. The pork belly was my favorite. Ignore the low rating and try this place, you won't regret it,
This place is great. Everything we had was delicious.
We had Serrano ham, white anchovies, garlic confit chorizo, ham croquettes, cod croquettes meatballs and pork belly. The produce was of a really high quality and the flavours, rich and delicious. Make sure you get the larger serving of pork belly as it is probably the best I've had.
Great atmosphere (quiet enough for a romantic night but there was a big group a few tables down and their noise didn't carry).
The wine list was broad and our Chilean Shiraz was wonderful.
I will go back again and again.
I'm not sure where those negative reviewers dined. This is a great place.
Best Tapas ever!. Me and my partner went there last Saturday for a romantic dinner( the restaurant set up is very nice and sexy) and we had their fiesta menu which is a selection of different tapas. The food was amazing, the garlic prawns are to die for and the lamb is so tasty!
The manager suggest us a beautiful Tempranillo and a fantastic coffee liquor to go with our churros.
The staff was very nice and so friendly, We'll go back for sure.
We had the pre- theatre menu which is 2 tapas and a glass of wine per person for $40 each. The service was excellent, the wait staff were very knowledgable and attentive, the food came our very quickly and was well presented. The atmophere was intimate and the Spanish feel was very charming. Best of all the food was amazing, each dish outdid the one before it. In particular the chorizo snd the potato tapas were perfection. It really was a perfect meal.
