Review Cooh Bourke Road Alexandria - Sydney

lovely and spacious place to dine in. By reading the menu, I could easily notice that they serve wholesome ingredients and offer various options for people with special dietary requirements. We ordered breakfast menus and the portions were good. Staffs were also accommodating!

The ambience of the place is amazing. Perfect for a business lunch or out with the family over the weekends. Outdoor and indoor sitting with a posh look. Food is great here with lots of healthy options. Had brunch and lunch here few times and never disappoints. Lovely service with delicious food. What more can you ask for. Heads up, parking is a little challenging. Will definitely have to plan ahead.

We had an epic lunch in a cool industrial warehouse space. The food was incredible. I highly recommend the seared tuna. I found the vegan peanut butter latte quite interesting.

Coffee: Above average Food: a bit over price compared with other good brunch places. But I want to admire the fact that they used good ingredients generously. Especially these days, iceberg lettuce is $13 I wonder why there's a nice bar in the middle of a restaurant that closes at 4.

Used to love this place and come quite often. However the last visit of me and my friend hasn’t been the best experience. From the start, my friend said table for 2 thanks. The lady didn’t response and looked around for table (I guess) then took the menu and looked at us, then started to work to the table. We followed as we think it’s mean showing us to the table. When we get to the table, no word still… i am 100% sure I said thank you and she left. ( I heard she talks to the customer in front of me so I think she is not feel like talking to me and my friend at that moment ?) After we have seated ,no one take our order after we have been sitting for over 15 mins, table seated after us have been asked for drinks and order by a male waiter which we tried to get his attention(maybe we are invisible to them?) and we went to the counter trying to order told to go wait at the table. After we finished the meal for long time, no one ever bother to come clean the table, but table around us has been cleaned up and checked on how’s everything. Then when we pay, the bill got mixed up by the staff and lucky we check the bill otherwise we are paying extra on food and drinks we didn’t have and no apologies at all. Definitely service standard has dropped. The one star is to the lady who brought food to our table, very friendly and the sweet potato fries.

Delicious Burger cooked medium and juicy. Chips are well seasoned. Restaurant has nice decor and atmosphere. Service is good.

Missed out on brunch cuz we slept in, but lunch was really good here. I don't like pickles but the pickles in my burger were so good, had this sweetness to it. The beef was so juicy and it wasn't too messy to eat! Seriously loved it. Fritters were also excellent, coffee good too. Want to come back for brekki!! Gotta wake up early!

Have been wanting to try the food in COOH for a while now. Went today and was not disappointed. Ordered the pancakes and it was delicious and very filling. Service was quick and the staff were attentive. Ample seating both indoors and outdoors!

It's been a few years since I've been to Cooh in Alexandria. I recently visit Cooh again, having fond memories of my last visit in 2016. If you haven't been before, Cooh is best described as having a clean eating mantra and is an upmarket cafe so the price point is higher than your average suburban cafe. Cooh has a huge space being located in a warehouse. It's a lovely venue.

This place always provides great food and service. The coffee is really nice here and so are the staff. They are also dog friendly and have plenty of outdoor space.

If I could give this 6 stars, I would. Seriously underrated.

We visited COOH on a Thursday evening after turning away from the busy lines at the Grounds Markets.

We wanted to share some items rather than opt for a single dish each, and I am SO glad we did. They were seriously delicious.

The flavours in each dish were all absolutely fantastic. So fresh and so so good!

We ordered:

Pumpkin Falafel – Fresh, with a nice salad included on the plate. The balls were crunchy on the outside, warm and moist on the inside. Really cooked perfectly! The best falafel I think, I have ever had!
Lamb & Halloumi Kofta Meatballs – MY FAVOURITE – this was truly incredible. Such a wonderful mix of ingredients. Would return to Sydney just for these balls.
Honey Saganaki – I could eat this all day. The flavours were so refreshing from a traditional Saganaki dish. The honey created a sweet change to it, which worked perfectly with the cheesey savoury flavours.
Ed
Pleasant place, good service.
We only tried the pumpkin falafel which was amazing

Wonderful food and fantastic place for any dietary requirements. My partner can't have a any dairy and he has a variety of options on their breakfast menu, a rarity that has made this place our favourite brunch spot. Never left unhappy with the service or the food. I don't think anyone could even if they tried.

Huge place and the terrace is super comfortable this winter with the fire heaters !
I loved the quality of the dishes and loved the taste.
Service was a bit slow but very friendly.
Surprised by the burratta with pesto and fig ! That was a success.
We ordered lamb and salmon as mains and the flavours were really nice plus the portion size is quite good.

RcO
perfect place to have a healthy Brekkie Lunch or Brunch!!

Floor staff are great friendly and helpful. Wait time for food was good considering it was a full house.

Price for two approx. $80 includes alcohol, fresh Juice and coffee.

We ordered the Grilled Chicken Kale salad - delicious the only downside the chicken was a little over cooked.

The seared Tuna salad was cooked perfectly!!

Will definatley return also love the fire place booths outside very cosy!!
Pinicolada
I found the food to be quite sour and coming from a Chemistry background I understand why. COOH is carboxylic acid which is a main component of vinegar, the culprit for the sour taste.
Luxladyslife
The food was quite average to be honest but we only tried the lunch menu. However, omg to the peanut butter latte! It was amazing and so rich in its flavour! Loved it! Highly recommend especially if you love peanut butter!

Alexandria, especially the area around The Grounds, has become some sort of hot spot for up-and-coming restaurants in Sydney. COOH Alexandria is situated just across the Grounds. They have a massive dining space with quite a lot of tables. It could get a bit too loud when the restaurant is full. We went there for lunch. There were quite a lot of vegetarian options on the menu. One of my friends was looking for some kind of steak but the only beef on the menu was burger.
Alison Cheng
Ordered the zucchini fritters with homemade cured salmon and the beef burger. The fritters were delicious, but the burger was average.
Also, the cappuccino was disgusting. Don’t think I’ve had a coffee this bad before.
But the atmosphere here was really nice.
David Freuden
0/5 experience. Bad service; Slow kitchen; very poor food quality, unmaintained bathrooms. Sick from the food.

I'm posting my complaint to COOH Alexandria here as I sent an email 11 days ago to their email but received no response. 11 days! FFS. Seriously.

On 14 April, my partner and I just had lunch at COOH Alexandria. Table 111.

It was a very negative experience in many ways, including me throwing up as soon as I got home.

To be specific:
1. After being seated and waiting 15 minutes I had to stand up and walk over to a staff member to arrange to get our order taken (the restaurant was almost half-full).

2. After waiting 25minutes + I had to walk over to staff member and ask why our food was taking so long (1x chicken burger and 1 x Lamb salad)

3. Felt sick from the meal so went to the bathroom - no toilet paper + only 1 of the 2 hand dryers working

4. I told my partner about the bathroom and she also commented that the woman’s bathroom had no toilet paper and only 1 hand dryer working

5. Left the restaurant and threw up. Food was definitely not good.

Now after 11 days from advising them about this, still haven't even had this acknowledged. So thought I'd share my experience here on their FB page and as a review on many of the restaurant guides.

After 11 days since our email about experience, the bad service and lack of care just continues.

Enjoyed our lunch here on Saturday! Service was great, very friendly staff. The ambience was excellent, suitable for big groups, with kids and dogs( we had 1 baby and 2 dogs). Outdoor seating area was the best I have been to, especially the outdoor sofas were so comfy! Their lunch menu started at 12pm so I had the fritters, with extra haloumi. Very fresh and tasty. Definitely the most cozy lunch I have ever had!
Hayley
I can’t fault this cafe at all :)
It’s a huge cafe but the service was still very prompt, huge variety of innovative and deliciously looking food and drinks options, perfect for a lazy weekend.

We got smashed avo, chilli jam scramble and fritters. The smashed avo has amazing salsa. chilli jam scramble is rich and buttery , they also piled up on the avo, very satisfying. The fritters are aromatic and compliments really well with the tomato onion relish it came with.
The sticky chai lacks a bit of the tea flavour, but strong on the spices. Peanut butter latte is amazing, a little salty and very rich.

Price is around the average and good parking around.
Jemima
Love the vibes of this place. The food is reasonably priced, tasty and good quality. The staff are friendly and helpful. I had the bircher. Delicious!
Jessie Wu
Spontaneously came here to get some food in our bellies and it was a great experience! We were attended to as soon as we stepped in and the staff were all so lovely. Ordered the chicken burger with chips and the salmon with soba noodle salad. Burger was amazing and so was the salmon soba dish. However the salmon was not seasoned throughout and was mostly bland in the thickest part but it was cooked beautifully and so juicy.
YesNoMelbourne
Yes/no? Yes

Tried to get a seat at the Alexandria gardens cafe but of course it was packed :(
So instead we went to this cafe which was next door. Surprisingly it was pretty good.
All their serving sizes were big and the food was presented in a beautiful way.

Got the chilli scrambled eggs with halloumi on the side. The eggs itself lacked the chilli punch and the halloumi didn’t have much salt but when I put the components of the fish together, it was really nice.
Overall I was very satisfied with my dish
NewtowngirlSydney
The place is huge and convenient to dine with group. Foods is alright and service is great. Meat dish is great but risotto is salty and too much cream. Overall it is alright.

Incredible service, a beautiful location, and of course, amazing food, I think I've found a new place to add to the favourites list! The pumpkin ravioli was super delicious, and there's no doubt I'll be back to give their breakfast menu a try. So good!

What a find!! COOH is my new favourite restaurant. The food is perfection, there is a lovely menu filled with all sorts. From beautiful dainty breakfasts to filling robust burgers. There are coffees, juices, smoothies, wine and more. You must try their cocktails! And they have a delicious peanut butter latte you can’t miss.

The space is huge! You can have a large group of people, or just you and a friend. The flower arrangements and lighting are amazing. The waiting staff go over and above for you as a customer. I have been numerous times now, once with a pram and despite being very busy they found us a table perfect for us to enjoy with the pram.

For the quality of food, the over and above service and the beautiful environment I am always surprised with how cheap the bill is after the meal. I have recommended this restaurant to many people and will continue to visit.

The atmosphere is charming, the decor stunning, and overall a great place for lunch! We booked and went for lunch on a saturday, and I definitely recommend booking because the venue seemed quite busy. Service was quick, and the food and coffee was delicious. Can’t wait to go here again for breakfast or dinner!
Lola Pok
We had dinner here. They were very accommodating and the service was good but once more people arrived we were forgotten about after dinner. The mussels were delicious. The gnocchi's were overcooked, mushy and lacking flavour. The beef cheeks were OK. We probably wouldn't go back as it was quite expensive but not really worth it.

Ambience : Amazing 😍
Service : Fantastic 💯
I ordered the salmon dish without the sobs noodles 🍝 and it was divine! My girlfriend wasn’t too hungry so she ordered the mix sweet potato and potato chips. Unfortunately they were not the best. Very oily and soggy but the aioli sauce was divine! We both enjoyed our coffees, she had a soy latte I had an almond latte. Would definitely go back for breakfast because their breakfast menu looked amazing 😍

Peanut Butter Latte: 😍 Amazing
Beef Burger : 😁 Great
Avocado & Egg Roll : 😁 Great
Zucchini Fritters : 😍 Amazing
Vegan Pumpkin Falafel: 😍 Amazing
Service: 😍 Amazing

Peanut Butter & Coffee. Probably the best combination I’ve ever had! There was an equal balance between the two and I feel like it tasted more smoother and creamier. I love love loved the Vegan Pumpkin Falafel. It’s a must have if you’re up for it. Definitely coming back & I’m bringing friends too!

This is an interesting place for this area - a huge and attractive cafe/restaurant/bar room plus some outdoor seating, slick staff and fast service. My food was pretty good - they actually tried get some flavour into the Mexican eggs, plus they used black beans. It seems expensive but it was a lot of food. The coffee was strong and rich, maybe a little rough. The bathrooms have the taps 2 inches above the stone sink, so washing your hands can get a little scrapey.
Warren
Lunch today. Had the linguini special. Very good! And the Laura smoothie. This place has
Really been a breath of fresh air after its dismal predecessor
Alison Whalley
Had a lovely time here, I had the corn fritters and the portion size and quality of food was awesome. service not attentive but pleasant all the same. Coffee was great! I will be back :)
Shirley
Pretty decent food with very reasonable prices. The service is also super friendly and the atmosphere is open and inviting. The menu is a bit small though.
Susan
I would actually give this a 4.5! Super friendly service and delicious healthy food! The food all around was amazing and nothing to fault here. The zucchini fritter were very fulfilling and a great mix of flavours. The falafel bowl has an explosion of flavours and a little crunch.
Just as a side note, with such a wide variety brekkie and lunch menu you don’t miss out on much, which is rare 🙌🏼
TD
Their service was really slow. We waited for nearly 2 hours and the food was alright. The fries were slightly burnt and quite soggy.
Would not return.
Brunonono...
We highly approve of the bulletproof coffee, anything that gets us buzzing for a whole day is good and we’re very caffeine tolerant, that occupational hazard....

And everything else was just meh...wasn’t good wasn’t bad, just boring...there was something redeeming about the fries though. As soggy as they were, we couldn’t quite tell what made these slightly different from other fries but still soggy fries are well just like another soft squishy item - sad!

....get your mind out of the gutter, we’re talking about over-ripened bananas :)

This is one of my fave cafe in Sydney. Been here for many times. They serve organic and healthy food with some range of dietary requirement like gluten free and dairy free. The price and portion are reasonable. The food are delicious.
I love the food from savoury to the desserts.

For breakfast: ive tried the buckwheat pancake
For lunch: ive tried the seared Tuna salad and lamb quinoa salad, they are delicious! Their special dessert menu like pavlova, brownies and verrine.
For dinner: i cant remember exactly what i ordered but i didnt really enjoy their dinner menu.

Ambience are great, staff are friendly, big placd they have many seats which are very good, but space are so spacious that sometimes the staffs missed the “hand-ups”.

The shop and sign is also not easy to spot, i might think because it’s under the big trees. Thanks Google Maps.

Would definitely come back to try more breakfast and lunch menus. Yumm..

Had brunch at Cooh. All vegan/ vegetarian options on the the brunch menu. The drinks were great, I had the immunity crushie, which has acai. For food I ordered the pancake, which is gluten free & dairy free. It was one big pancake with a stack of fruits & coconut yogurt on top. Fruits consisted of blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, mango & banana. The whole dish was a big size, I couldn't finish it all, well worth the price. It was delicious and amazing! Would love to come back and try their lunch.

Gorgeous and spacious venue, not crowded when I went on a Sunday afternoon. The cauliflower salad was delicious and the blue latte was nice.

I have wanted to try this cafe for the longest time for their dairy free pancake and I was not disappointed. The large buckwheat coconut and berry pancake was topped with seasonal fruit, organic coconut yoghurt and toasted coconut chips. This was such a delicious pancake and I devoured all of it. loved how pretty the dish was, how healthy it tasted for a pancake, thanks to all the fruits, and it was filling enough for me.

Also tried the zucchini buckwheat fritters with house cured king ora salmon. It was such a wonderful mash of flavours, and I couldn't resist adding a poached egg even though it was expensive at $3. Loved how it was dairy free as well, and I can't fault anything about the fritters. I really liked my vegan butterfly blue latte as well and my friend enjoyed his vegan peanut butter latte too, which was a very unique drink.

It's safe to say this was a tremendously delightful meal and the kind of brunch I would love to have every day. I appreciate COOH so much for catering to dietary needs and offering such aesthetic and delicious food!

Food, service and coffee all fantastic- very happy to have found this place. Porridge was delicious. We will be back for sure! Nice one guys

I’m giving it a great review only for this take away salad. The flavour is so delicious! Pricey but really nice. It had chicken and pickles and broccoli and noodles.
Xlittlecupcake
Copped a free lunch here as we waited an hour for our food before they realised our order didn’t actually go through the system. Interior is 👌🏻 love the decor and staff were super friendly and apologetic for the one hour wait. Food was lovely - try the corn fritters and Moroccan lamb salad :)
Mzlanah
The set menu was probably a disadvantage, but overall a pleasant experience. The food was decent and a healthier option for the health conscious. Much preferred the lamb over the slow cooked beef cheeks. I didn’t think much of the vegan ice cream sandwich, it was extremely sweet (which usually doesn’t phase me being a dessert lover). The Greek coffee (Freddo) was amazing. The table service and staff were good.
FitnessFoodie
Love!!! Opposite the Grounds and definitely my preference. The space is large and open - undercover too. there are no queues like you get across the road! And the staff are really friendly.
the menu is incredible. Healthy and fresh. Lots of vegan options but also enough on there to satisfy my non vegan friends 😁
avo on toast and the green bowl were both tasty. the extra haloumi was a good portion and welcome addition - always !
Coffee is good and they have delicious almond milk!
Looking forward too going back here one Friday night for drinks. I can imagine the buzz...
great ambience.
highly recommend.
Anna
I am more keen to try their breakfast menu to be honest, but because we were in Alexandria in the evening, I decided to give the dinner a try.

I tried the mushroom risotto and was a little underwhelmed. It was pretty bland but then it had a weird aftertaste I wasn't a fan of. The cauliflower salad was tasty though! And the seafood linguine looked really good.

In general I felt the price didn't match the quality of food, but it wasn't terrible either. Probably will enjoy breakfast more, so I might go back for that.
Ayalynn91
Amazing amazing amazing.. This place is so inviting you cant walk past without stopping to take a look... Food perfect, everything was lovely and didn't take to long for the food to be at our table.... definitely coming back

COOH really sticks with the whole warehouse, open space theme of Alexandria. The restaurant is a big open space encased in glass so it really like you’re outdoors. COOH serves up some really great dishes using the freshest ingredients . Came here for dinner and ordered the seafood linguine with the homemade ravioli. Both were delicious! Would recommend this place if you want great food and drinks and wanna avoid the hussle and bustle of the grounds.
NBtoself
Ordered corn fritters, sweet potato chips and PB date smoothie. Food was good. The venue is quite large. Waited for a while before being seated. Service was not great. Food and drinks were good.
Spooning Australia
Since I mentioned COOH was in my Top 20 Restaurants of 2017 I have had some mixed feedback on their breakfast with one friend not impressed at all. I have not eaten breakfast here, I have not eaten lunch here. I have eaten dinner here and it blew my mind. Everyone’s experience will be different based on how the atoms of the universe align on any given day. What I can say is that the day I visited the atoms aligned in perfect unison and I can’t wait to return.

Good service, huge space so not cramped on top of other customers.
The food was very good
The coffee was decent also.
Overall a good experience 🤙🏼

The placehas a really nice atmosphere, friendly and smiley staff, and a great selection of organic foods. Had the chicken sandwich, soya latte and a coconut bar, all of which tasted great. Their smoothies and juices looked enticing. Would definitely visit again.
Those Who Love To Eat
This place is uber trendy, with sparse interior. They also had live music that added to the ambiance.
We came here on a Sunday afternoon for a birthday lunch.
Their vegetarian and vegan choices were pretty amazing and extremely tasty. The portion size was rather generous. Ingredients was fresh, portion size was rather generous and very filling.
I had their mashroom risotto and my mother had the pumpkin falafel that was really yummy.
The meat dishes also looked and sounded really tasty.
There is also side cafe where you can order take away, and a well stocked bar where you could just come for drinks. A really versatile place to come and have something to eat or just have a drink or two.
Lollieats
Beautiful restaurant with a big seating area. Service was amazing, food was delicious and coffee was awesome. Actually tried a peanut butter latte which was amazing and being a peanut butter addict, I was in my element. The food was beautifully presented and really scrumptious. Well worth visiting !!
Food Queens Of Sydney
They have an amazing menu and can cater for any dietary requirements. They have a lot of vegan options too which is a plus. The food was also delicious and the presentation was very cool. The atmosphere is also trendy as it is in your typical Alexandria warehouse space.

Beautiful atmosphere, quality food. My friend which is a meat lover was very pleasantly surprised with his tuna steak salad! I had the fritter which were absolutely delicious.

I love how this place uses wholesome ingredients for a well rounded meal - all without losing the quality if taste.

I truely don’t mind spending the extra few dollars!
Flora Secreat
If you like heathy choice Cooh is not bad after all. Burger is quite nice. Fish and soba salad is really yummy. Staff very friendly and helpful to recommend the menu.
Highly recommend fruit juice !!! very fresh and tasty.
If you go during the weekend, should book the table.
Ellylovestoeat
The atmosphere at Cooh is beautiful , really enjoyed alfresco dining for dinner. Entree of smokey eggplant with sough-dough was the best part of our meal but the handmade ravioli were overcooked and the slow cooked beef cheeks was ok but nothing to rave about and the heirloom carrots accompanied on the plate were raw. Great selection of wine but ours arrived well after our meal was served and only because we had to ask the waiter.
Sydney Food By Chloe
Vegan? The wild mushroom risotto with cashew butter is to die for!!! Carnivore? You need look no further than Cooh's beef cheek! Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, COOH is always there to satisfy every craving!
Lily
Have always driven past this place, just had a chance to check it out recently. Their service was impeccable! Really friendly and approachable staff. We ordered the Juneen lamb and ravioli, both tasted really good! Very decent portion, definitely value for money. Spacious and comfortable seating arrangement. Pretty pleasant experience throughout.

Amazing place with great atmosphere, organic tasty food, friendly staff highly recommended.
We came many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner, congratulations guys!

Buckwheat Pancake (4/5): This tastes as good as it looks! Such a generous serving of seasonal fruits (passion fruit, figs, rockmelon, blueberries, strawberries, bananas) and delicious sticky toasted coconut flakes with a huge dollop of creamy coconut yoghurt on a fluffy buckwheat pancake...JUST YUM! Will be back here to try more.

Bacon + Egg Roll (4/5): My partner said this is the best bacon and egg roll he's ever had. It was more of a burger than it was a roll which was a nice surprise. The brioche bun was quality, bacon crispy and egg was perfectly cooked.

Veggie Bowl (3/5): The veggie Bowl is mainly wilted kale and spinach. I asked for my gluten free and dairy free pesto on the side which had a lovely flavour but it was nothing out of the ordinary. The eggs were poached well but it could've definitely used more avocado and sweet potato bits. Wouldn't really re-order this but it was a filling breakfast.

We had a beautiful dinner at COOH; every dish we ordered was delicious and well-executed. If forced to pick though, my favourites were: the perfectly cooked barramundi with loads of flavour from the thick tomato and capsicum stew; the slow cooked beef cheeks which fell apart when poked with a fork and the moist walnut cake with cardamom honey ice cream. The restaurant is large and spacious, great for groups. They even had a live DJ when we were there on a Friday night. Thanks to @teafortammi for the invite... I'd never have discovered COOH otherwise! As it is, I'm definitely planning to revisit.

Firstly, this place wasn't what I expected at all! I heard a lot about this place and thought it was a little, standard trendy cafe... but it was really spacious with a more sophisticated atmosphere! I really enjoyed it - it was a beautiful cafe I just didn't realise it ! The drink menu was extensive with interesting smoothies and lattes that were vegan etc. Unfortunately I didn't try one but will definitely if I go back! They have a takeaway section of the restaurant which has a good range of food and drinks. Staff friendly, but in the 20 or so minutes I was there there wasn't a consistent waiter that served me- probably 3 or 4 different. A bit odd

Le bf and I came here over the weekend selecting it over then usual Grounds and what a lovely surprise it was 😍 The cafe is hugeee and super nice with an open patio sort of seating area. The weather was perfect w a light breeze so ambience was 10/10. Our waitress was lovely and took our orders quickly. We had the chicken burger on a charcoal bun and the grilled chicken salad. Both super tasty oh and SPF were done well! Defs coming back to try some of the other items. Sorry my photos really dont do the food justice!

This big venue is perfect for breakfast, brunch or even dinner and drinks with friends. It is a very lovely restaurant with a cosy atmosphere even if the place got a lot of place. They even offer some catering/ reception in a second room.
I went there for a Sunday brunch and we could sit outside which did trees because the place is quiet and well surround perfect. So peaceful. My BF tried the seared tuna salad with spiralized salad, jalapeno dals and avocado puree. The tuna was perfectly cooked and all the flavours were perfectly matching together. The portions are not huge for the price but it is delicate food and quality products. So I really think the price is correct for this kind of meal.
And I tried the beetroot and smoked salmon salad with orange dressing, golden baby beets, feta mousse, skin cracked and crunchy seed bark. It was really original and different from the other salmon salads that you can find commonly into cafes. I really appreciate the orange flavours on the top of the salmon. And surprisingly it was quite filling for a salad. I will come back one night to see how the dinners are but I am quite sure they will be as good as the brunch menu.

Really like the food and environment here. The service is quite good as well. It is my second time to be here, fantasy! It is a good place for family gathering.
Katherine
The decor and overall design of the place is beautiful, with lots of light streaming in and a nice outdoor area.
My two friends and I went on a day that didn't look that busy but service took quite a while. We were sitting in the outdoor area and felt quite neglected and forgotten about- as did the table next to us who shared the same sentiments. We eventually had to walk inside and directly speak with a waiter after failing to flag someone down from the outside on multiple attempts.

Food was average.
Janicexrose
Large expansive cafe with high ceilings and outdoor seating with comfortable looking seats and cushions with a fire warmer in the middle.

The food on the whole was average with the idea of being a healthy and organic cafe so the food was on the drier side. We ordered the [chicken burger with chips] and the [zucchini buckwheat fritters with bacon].

The chicken was lovely, you could taste that it was organic and good quality chicken but it was slightly on the drier side. The combination of flavours were nice with the tzatziki as it's sauce. The black charcoal brioche bun was also on the drier side and was not very soft.

The fritters again was on the drier side and could do with a little more seasoning but I did like the avocado smash on the side which had a good amount of squeezed lemon juice and a good potion of avocado.

The service was rather slow, it seemed that there were a couple of untrained staff running around. We were told about 10 minutes after we had ordered from the lunch menu that the food would take long as the chefs do not cook the lunch food until after 12pm. If we had known earlier, we would've ordered items from the breakfast menu as we were given the option to do so beforehand.

I had asked one of the girls for the bill in which she replied that she will be in a second but she never came back with it so we asked a different staff person instead. We were also charged with a beer on our receipt which we did not order. When the staff member was questioned she replied that it was for another table instead but she should've voided it immediately to not cause any confusion later on.

Worst service ever, totally chaos, no management at all. Food level way below Sydney average, no recommended at all.

Poor booking system, and ppl there rude and always try to find excuse to cover their own mistake.

No drink menu until we ask multiple times.

Great food, great service and big portions. Greeted and talked with the manager who made us feel welcome. Lamb backstrap with quinoa & pomegranate was 👌

This place is a really large space, great for big groups of people. They make you feel very welcome though and not just a number coming through.

I had the zucchini fritters with house cured trout. This was such a fresh meal. The trout was incredibly fresh and vibrant and tasted divine. The avocado and corn salsa again was as if it was made to order. The relish also added a tasty element. The actual small let down was the fritters themselves. I hate to say it but I think being gluten and dairy free was the reason. They lacked taste and seasoning. A bit of a shame.

Very disappointing with their service and racial discrimination.
We travelling from Melbourne to Sydney visiting the ground of Alexandria but it was too crowded so we decided to try this restaurant which is right next to us.
So we, group of six went in at 2pm on 11/6 and queue outside waiting for a table. The waiter trying to ignore us but we still going in and asked him how long it takes for a table of six. He said it is about 30 minutes so we decided to wait. Apparently, we saw there are many empty tables in the restaurant. After 10 minutes, he came out and told us in a very rude way that they are closing at 3pm and it is too late for us to sit down and order for food. Then, a group of three caucasian came in asked for seats and they went in sit down straight. The waiter's reason of ignoring us is that they only have three people and we have six, but they came in 15 minutes later then us.
He thought we do not understand english, and said loudly to the caucasian group because we will take very long for food so he do not want to let us in.
After all, this is the worst place I have been in Australia.

From the moment we entered we were greeted by smiling, warm attendants and seated without even having to wait. Our attendant made sure we had a comfortable table where it is warm.

This place has an inviting and warm ambience, it gives you that feeling that you know you're in for a memorable experience. Both our dishes were fresh, creative, tasty and served promptly. The prices were also very reasonable and our servings were generous.

We ordered the chicken salad and the felafel plate, both gluten free (you heard right gluten free felafel!). The meals were well balanced. The coffee was my favourite kind; both smooth yet strong.

The menu was filled with an abundance of gluten free options and they even had a conjoining store with array of gluten free, dairy free and raw treats! To say I was impressed is a severe understatement!

Driven past so many times on the way to The Grounds and always wanted to try this mysterious looking place with the impressive trees! Finally got the opportunity on a lovely sunny, autumn lunchtime as we basked in the sunlight outside on very relaxing, luxurious cushioned benches! Not sure why this place is called Cooh, but we did find ourselves saying "isn't this place COOL" a lot during our dining experience! The mushroom risotto was so flavoursome and comforting and the seared tuna with a colourful slaw salad was a perfect lunchtime dish too. It's the kind of place were you could sit around and not want to go back to work! Also, got a lovely takeaway pork belly Asian salad for a work colleague who enjoyed it thoroughly! Great!

The lingering warm weather in Sydney means we get to enjoy a few more boozy long lunches in the sun, or a few more after work drinks on balmy nights! The outdoor dining space in COOH is just perfect for such occasions. Inside the restaurant tables of various sizes are designed to suit different dining requirements. Its spacious, elegant and airy interiors immediately set us in the right mood and we couldn’t wait to discover what the restaurant had in store for us.

Really delicious food, great service and a great fit out. They have live music on Friday nights which is a little bit loud but definitely worth checking out. All dishes were equally as delicious and I will be coming here again for breakfast soon.

Great service, plenty of space, was packed but didn't feel too crowded.
I ordered a seared Tuna burger on a milk bun and it was one of he best burgers I've had! Tuna was cooked perfectly and bun was so fresh! I'd go back for sure.
Coffee wasn't too bad either :)

Bordering a 4 rating - who knew healthy could taste so good. Chili scrambled (+ bacon), plus the buckwheat pancakes loaded with fruits, coconut cream were luscious. Nearly forget it was dairy and gluten free which is not normally in my vocabulary. Coffee also strong. Very strong option across the road from the ridiculously busy grounds of Alexandria. Would visit again.

Vegan brownie. Love it or hate it. It's probably better for me, so I can eat more yeh? Oh well this was quite nice and moist. A little stodgy in the mouth but flavours were good.
GetInMyBelly
Cooh had slow service, cold coffee and tasteless food. We had the seared tuna salad and beef burger. Disappointing experience. Beef patty was tiny.
Greedygreedyguts
Airy hip cafe with luxurious menu that will probably give the overrated Grounds a run for its foodie tourist money. I had the wonderful pancake stacked with a huge dollop of coconut yoghurt and big chunks of fruit. The pancake was just right, light and not overly sweet. Coffee was excellent as was the house made kombucha. Service was friendly and efficient. Street parking was a pain even though we visited on a quiet weekday morning.
Josephine
I came for lunch today with my grandson and had an ocean trout noodles which was fantastic and Joseph had a burger and chips. Our waiter remi was on the ball and made sure our experience was the best. He and Joseph got a long very well and also gave him a muffin at the end. I have never reviewd before but thought it was important to share how great the food and service was today
Thefoodbotherer
Really enjoyed popping in here for breakfast this morning. Spacious with high ceilings and little details like succulents adorning the tables of vary shapes and sizes. The buckwheat pancakes were loaded with coconut yoghurt and an abundance of fruit. Hubs got scrambled with cured trout and bacon. Really good coffee too. I would choose this over its hyped up neighbour across the road.

Underwhelming at best. Staff have no idea what they are doing and are incredibly unorganized. We waited 10 minutes at the bar without a word from the five staff behind there, we waited for starters which had small portion sizes and were underwhelming, the wait for the main felt like an eternity, it would have been at least 30 minutes from the time they cleared the starter plates. It took ten minutes for a bottle of wine to arrive at the table and when the mains finally came out, the flavors were pretentious and confused. I left wanting to go on a maccas run afterwards, not what you want to be doing after dinner.

Brunch here turned out to be a completely vegetarian affair, not by design, but the absence of sausages, bacon and like were not noticed until I started writing this review...

Cooh is an expansive space in Alexandria located on a street corner diagonally across from The Grounds. But unlike that other popular venue, you'll find a cool, chilled vibe here where you'll easily find a seat and a quiet spot to enjoy a fresh, nourishing meal in a relaxed environment.

I immediately felt healthy just reading the menu and our choice of the Mexican Eggs, Veggie Bowl and Buckwheat Pancakes reinforced that feeling. The veggie bowl was a generous bowl of kale, avocado and roast pumpkin with a dairy free pesto and two soft poached eggs, with the clever addition of a "seed bark" adding crunch to the dish.

And the pancakes, wow! They were almost too pretty to eat. Almost. Banana, rockmelon, blueberries, pomegranate arils, strawberries, kiwi, pink grapefruit and toasted coconut are scattered across the pancakes, creating a spectacular display of colour, finished off with half a passionfruit and edible flowers atop coconut yoghurt.

If you're vegetarian, vegan, dairy free or gluten free, for breakfast there's buckwheat pancakes, porridge, bircher, zucchini fritters (just omit the bacon) and a variety of breakfast salad bowls, not to mention a huge variety of juices, smoothies and crushies. The coffee is also very good.

Earlybirds can also participate in the free community yoga sessions Cooh host onsite every Saturday from 8-9am. Just call and book your place.

Much gratitude to the team at Cooh for the opportunity to dine there, and to Yianni for looking after us.

I really enjoyed the feel of this place. Coffee is fantastic, food quality really high, good selection of beers and staff super friendly.

We were here on Sunday and they had live music which was great. Looking forward to coming back.

Went to COOH last week, the coffees were great especially the coconut iced coffee! Food was also great, we ordered the mushroom risotto which was massive and chips! The services was very efficient and professional, the restraunts vibe was relaxing.
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
Cooh - the calming soothing sound a mother sometimes makes - the melodic noise a bird may produce - and now its also a surprisingly large restaurant/cafe/bar on a corner in Alexandria that relaxes you as soon as you enter with a cool decor and fit out. This place oozes industrial chic with a subtle tropical feel there as well. Think big tables, timber and concrete and plenty of greenery. It's probably very apt too considering they have a focus on serving healthy and organic food.
Excuse Me Waiter
It’s hard to believe that there are even more new cafe and eateries springing up in Alexandria around all the new apartment complexes that are now being completed, but it’s definitely welcome as there’s much more space for these new restaurants to play up their decor. One eatery that has taken to the industrial chic aesthetic with gusto is COOH, which has gorgeous contemporary decor throughout their cavernous space with soaring ceilings and floor to ceiling windows that are opened up to take advantage of the warmer spring weather now.

Bianca: During my intense healthy eating phase, Cooh in Alexandria would have made a regular appearance in my cafe rotation. The food is geared towards ‘clean’ and ‘healthy’. There is a lot of gluten-free, kale, buckwheat, vegan being bandied about on the menu. But it’s not all scary.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Benefiting from the creative destruction of modern Capitalism, for the last year COOH Alexandria has been making the most of the almost $2 million fit-out that Vicinity Dining did in this sprawling space, just three years earlier. For new owners Rachel Trevarton and Scarlett Forward, this is a logical expansion on their original North Curl Curl café, and an opportunity to bring their organic, wholefood philosophy to Alexandria. The name – in case you were wondering – is short for a carboxyl group. These –COOH groups form part of all amino acids, the basis for all life processes.Alongside a healthier menu, the COOH team have injected a little more light and openness into the formerly dark, corporate-looking space. While it’s never going to be a sundrenched seaside café, they have made inroads into morphing it into a community hub.I pop in for weekend brunch, a popular affair even in such a big space, without going to the ridiculous level of overcrowding at neighbouring The Grounds. After inhaling their smooth, house-roasted coffee blend in a Latte ($4) I moved on to cocktails. Breakfast cocktails at COOH are delicious and inventive – plus they pass the sniff-test: they look to other diners like you’re consuming an appropriate breakfast drink (it’s way too early for judgment). Avo-Cooh-Do ($17) takes a mild mannered...
Snapshots Of Food
Alexandria is every hipster's dream. It ticks the boxes for being near cafe's, second hand shops selling "antiques" at a fraction of quadruple the price, close enough to public transport to warrant not using it and most importantly.. the food. The Grounds of Alexandria have been front runners in the area for some time now, but slowly the likes of Gelato Messina, Sonoma Cafe, Bourke Street Bakery, Black Star Pastry and now the newly opened COOH is starting to steal some of that lime light with it's use of fresh, organic ingredients from an impressive list of local businesses.

At COOH the focus is on organic wholesome food and you can definitely indulge your appetite at this all day restaurant. Now I’d like to highlight the gorgeous dinner menu available from Tuesday to Saturday from 6pm. The seafood starters are flavourful and varied. Delicate pieces of Spiced seared tuna are coated in a middle-eastern spice blend. The beetroot Cured ocean trout with its scarlet-red hue is so fresh with orange slices and creme fraiche. Or perhaps the plump Harvey Bay scallops and pea puree is more your kind of dish.

My partner is lactose intolerant and I love sweets, so I'm always on the lookout for vegan alternatives to indulge and I really believe ths place deserves a place in my list!
It was delicious! We order the dragon fruit cheescake and the apple/cinamon tea cake and it made my afternoon! Service was really good too so I'll be back!

Cooh is a great hideaway cafe to retreat with a great book or some work you may need to do (i.e my exam prep)
I started with English Breakfast Tea, really well brewed and remained warm in the large class canister.
Then after a good hour of studying I was feeling hungry so I ordered the Cauliflower and Tahini salad which was really nice, the cauliflower was spiced and roasted really well but it was missing something more substantial, maybe some roast beetroot or pumpkin? It was a bit small for $16.
The orange and pineapple freshly squeezed juice was really nice and refreshing. The service here made up for the disappointing meal, they were super friendly and welcoming, and really attentive!
Overall a nice quiet place, a bit pricey but the service was really fantastic!
Coco And Vine
In Short: COOH Alexandria has an impressive dinner menu, delightful presentation, relaxed and spacious atmosphere. Tip: Try the Heirloom Tomatoes & Buffalo Mozzarella.

Having visited COOH at their original café location on Sydney’s North Shore, we were intrigued by the prospect of exploring their grander culinary vision at COOH’s more recent food experience creation in Alexandria.

*Coco & Vine dined as guests of COOH

It is our 16th wedding anniversary and I wanted somewhere that we had not been before. Cooh exceeded our expectations, the food was delicious and usually I am trying to find something delicious and healthy. But here all was delicious and healthy. Will make this a favourite place to come and bring good friends.
Coffeebrunchanddinner
This place is a hidden oasis in Alexandria. Located on the corner of Bourke and Collins Street COOH has ambiance, atmosphere and a design aesthetic that would make judges on design shows throw their hipster hand in the air in celebration. It seems to be an industrial warehouse that has been divided into an indoor and outdoor section by beautiful window glass doors. The outside is a huge deck area that has everything from lounges and tables to egg chairs for people to relax on. For us, the inside was the star though - a huge space divided up by fusion of natural and industrial features gave it a feel of elegance and romance but still with an edge. This space can accommodate large groups, however, it is set up in a way that tables are far enough away from each other that you still get your privacy and it's one for the list of top date places.

The menu is not as large as you will see in some restaurants however, the staff at Cooh have been refining it over the past year and this current iteration has been the staple there for the past 4 months. While the menu is not huge there are options for all from your heavier meals to your lighter meals. Firstly, before talking about the meals let me say that the portions sizes are generous and filling! For entree we had the Hervey Bay scallops, saganaki feta filo and warm eggplant. The scallops were fresh, cooked perfectly and matched beautifully with the pea purée (delicious). For me the star was the eggplant - which was paired with garlic rye sourdough and the tomato salsa kept it refreshing. The Saganaki in honey is a top pick as well, however, suggest sharing as it could be a bit much to eat all on your own! Mains, take your pick here and you won't be disappointed. We had the eye fillet, ocean trout and pork belly. For both of us the Crispy Skin Pork Belly was a cracking meal - literally, the crispy skin made the perfect snap and crackle when devoured and the pork belly itself was as succulent as grandma's Sunday pork roast! This was paired nicely with the cauliflower purée and the slaw. The steak was cooked to perfection with delicious onion braised kale and roasted tomato. The crispy skin ocean trout was the marine version of the pork belly and it is one of the most refreshing dishes I've had! Scrumptious fish covered in a crispy skin with a citrus salad and sweet potato swirl underneath tied all these flavours together in a dish that will please anyone who loves seafood, flavour and fine dining.

Dessert is not just for the tastebuds but it is a visual experience as well. We had the the honey whipped ricotta with rhubarb coconut salsa and coconut semifredo which is best shared! It was almost too pretty to eat with fresh and light flavours that end your dining experience here on a positive note. A very positive note. If you are torn between all the different options as we were then ask the floor and bar manager Ramy for his recommendations - he will be more then happy to run you through the menu and let you know the favourites!

The drinks and cocktail menu here is well designed and fits with the fresh and natural vibe that is produced by the food and decor. Grab yourself a coconut pinacolada for that fresh zing but do not go past the wine list as this would be the perfect accompaniment to your meals here.

While we were here for dinner, we definitely want to go back for brunch and sit outside on the deck area in the sun! Parking in the area is easy and it is only a few blocks from Green Square station. Treat yourself with a visit to COOH and you will not be disappointed - we've also heard a rumor of live music and $1 sliders on certain Friday nights
The Next Rush
Not far from the Grounds of Alexandria – Cooh has one hell of a menu curation! Our order today featured remanants of Japanese, Italian and Morrocon dishes with over the top re-inventions! One of the great things about this place is the pride it places on sourcing only organic, free range AND AUSTRALIAN local produce! So why not serve each meal accordingly with that Aussie touch and healthy kick we all aspire to! Not only that, the surrounding afterwork crowd (or lunchers) have a fully equipped bar at their disposal here featuring some of the best beers and wines Australia has to offer!

So my imagination does very little to excite when ordering the TUNA BURGER but upon delivery it was one big punch to the guts with its visually impactful charcoal bun hosting a Sashimi-Tuna-Patty simulation dolloped with Jalapeno Mayonaise. Black and Green and the purple cabbage of the burger contrasted with the earthy tone of the sweet potato fries! So creative! The MORROCAN LAMB movie blockbuster still has the same plotline of light cajunish seasoning with a mint yoghurt accompaniment, but the typical cous cous you would see in this dish has been recast with Quinoa! I probably wouldnt have noticed if I hadn't known because the texture is similar but it was a nice change from the sometimes porridge-like texture you get with cous cous! Absolutely loved this! The ITALIAN BRUSCHETTA is completely chunkified! No diced tomatoes here – we're talking mega wedges, basil leaves, balsamic and globs of buffalo mozzarella! Wow!

But for me, there's nothing like the classic OCEAN TROUT and its cooked perfectly here served with a beautifully dressed salad and black sesame avocado.

I love the converted warehouse space and high ceilings and the outdoor patio area. The place is completely encapsulated with trees and shrubs that add to the wholesome yet modern feel to the place and the professionalism of the staff is great, especially when there are actually so many tables to keep an eye on in that wide open space! Definitely a must in Alexandria – open breakfast, lunch and dinner – it would suit any ocassion!

Massive open restaurant with a wholesome menu that is healthy and organic. I really love the space and the slick interiors. This place gets really busy so try to get there before it fills up. The customer service is very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the Moroccan lamb Nd quinoa salad and the grilled ocean trout and son noodle salad.
