There guys are amazing, there food is also amazing, I would recommend this place 100%
Told there was a 1/2 hour wait at 10 pm approx on the Sunday night, we waited 10 mins. Ordered and the food came out like 10 mins later, awesome flavours and hot and fresh dishes!! Highly recommended!!!!
From the Central Coast NSW
This simply has to be the best Korean in Sydney!
Cool atmosphere, great service, excellent food.
Do not miss this place when in Sydney - definitely worth a visit.
Great service. It was my first time at a Korean bbq and it was definitely a great experience. I'd love to go there again because of the great food and helpful staff.

Great staff and service was good. Waiter was attentive to our sauces and always smiling when we ordered. Keep up the good work guys this would keep people like me as your regular!
Really nice food and prompt service. Would definitely recommend this place for Korean BBQ.
Food were really nice and the service crews were very attentive to our needs . Highly recommended. Definitely we’ll be back.
Madang Korean BBQ on Saturday night was packed / reservations only and with good reason! Scrumptious fresh ingredients, a smorgasbord of sauces and condiments, and sublime dishes which appealed to the young and old in our group. A great evening!
Качественное мясо, приветливый персонал. Сливовое вино👍
Love this place!! Excellent service, delicious food and reasonable prices. I'll definitely recommend this place
Even though most the menu are expensive, so far this is the best Korean restaurant in the city!
Absolutely stunning feed. If you want top quality this is the place to go to. Staff are exquisite and service is on fleek.
The Hulk did not need to ask twice. The Hulk did not need to ask thrice. The Hulk got what he came for. The beef. The pork. The bird. The beer. The soju. It was a vibe. The Hulk would like to thank Drake the Grand Duke of Madang for letting us run wild in their restaurant.
I really enjoyed the BBQ and the customer service was very good!!
Well priced Korean BBQ with cheap Soju ($13), good quality meats and sides.
We ordered today the pork belly, beef bolgolgi, marinated chicken and Wagyu beef. Of course the Wagyu beef was our favourite, a good quality meat that was easy to eat and almost melted in your mouth. The other meats were also very tasty, good quality, fresh, and went well with the assortment of sides. Pair this with some beer and Soju and you have a recipe for a good night.
Good Korean BBQ restaurant worth visiting.

This should be the best Korean restaurant we have ever visited during our three years of living in Australia! We had kimchi cold noodles with pork belly combo, and a cheesy mushroom rice cake hotpot. Amazing!
About 7 years ago Madang use to be the best Korean restaurant in Sydney CBD. These days there are so many fantastic Korean restaurants in city, and it kinda got lost in the crowd. Yukgaejang (Spicy Korean Beef Soup) is fantastic here and it’s a great hangover cure. Kimchi pancake is no longer as great as it use to be, but they’re still cooking some good Korean dishes. I give this place 4 bears
The great korean BBQ place. It's hidden, but definitely worthwhile to make an effort to find and enjoy the place.

The stuff here are very helpful and they work as a team. I didn’t expect they cut and cook the meat for us but they would come every time when you need to call them , they come to change the nest and cook the BBQ for you . Look like they are under great management . But the kimchi pancake was tasteless and no flavour.

Love service! Friendly:) I had beef&pork bbq and hotpot. Beef (So Gal Bi) was very chewing, couldn't bite and doesn't taste very good but all the rest were great. It doen't match with the price.
Wish the quality of beef would be better!
But love this restaurant, love to come back soon.
Super popular and crowded even on a weekday evening. I wished I was hungry enough to have the BBQ as it was clearly the popular choice! Instead, I had the baby octopus bulgogi which was easily the best I've ever had. The baby octopus was fresh and tender, and cooked just right - not overly chewy. Definitely one of the better korean restaurants around.
3.5/5 Mr Weekend Food Escapes is a big Korean BBQ fan. While this institution has been around for yonks, it's our first time at Madang Korean BBQ. We are invited here as part of a Hungry Diner event. Tonight, it's a big group event so there's a lot of fun mixed with some chaos. The Koreans typically drink soju with Korean BBQ or Korean beer. So when in Rome... Mr Weekend Food Escapes and I cheers to a shot of soju. What I like about Korean BBQ are the sides are served at the beginning so while you are waiting for meat and dishes to arrive, you can snack away. I make a beeline for the kim chi as I enjoy the spicy cabbage lingering on my tongue.
You’ll find this Korean BBQ down a little alleyway off Pitt Street in Sydney’s CBD. Despite its inconspicuous location, the place is filled with customers on both levels of the venue and the restaurant is of a large size so that is certainly testament to its popularity. We’re there for a Hungry Diner event (his 13th blogger and influencer event) with a bunch of like minded foodies ready to eat up a storm, and that we certainly did.
I have been dining at Sydney Madang (and loving it!) for about 10 years now, so on this latest visit, I thought I would order some different dishes too. On one hand, I knew exactly what was to lay before me: beautiful, friendly service, a central CBD location, and, in my opinion, the best Korean BBQ in Sydney. But on the other hand, what I didn't know of was the the vast range of absolutely delicious large dishes on order which are not mere side dishes to the KBBQ, but main events on their own. It seems I am a creature of habit and order the same thing every time without trying anything new! Well here was my chance, and boy, have I been missing out all this time! The Deep Fried Chicken with Sweet Sauce was a marvel with its batter staying super crisp despite being coated in a divine sticky sauce, the Frozen Raw Beef Salad was just gorgeous with the perfume of sesame permeating throughout and of course the #instaworthy cheesy goodness of the Extra Hot Spicy Chicken with Pineapple, Ricecake and Cheese on Top🤤. I am so intrigued and excited to come back (hey- I was going to anyway!) and try their other large specialty dishes. As if I didn't sing their praises enough already, this event has proven why they remain so popular on the Sydney dining scene after 15 years of being in business and if you haven't been here already, or if you have only tried the KBBQ here, you have to go! You might even see me sitting at the next table over!
I was given the great pleasure to attend a function last night at one of Sydney's best KBBQ restaurants where I met Esther and Drake who happily run this great venue.
After chatting with the owners they highlighted the following:
1. They have been selected as the best Korean restaurant in NSW by many organisations over the years
2. They have an extensive menu of over 90 traditional dishes
3. They make all their own dishes in-house including their own Kim-chi
4. Most Korean bbq will have a significant focus on the BBQ and small sides.
5. This venue actually specialize in BBQ as well as their extensive a la carte menu of large dishes, and you will see that tonight.
Some stand out dishes to look out for are:
1. Extra Hot Chilli Chicken with rice and melted Cheese
2. My fave – Seafood Korean Crispy Pancake with sauce
3. Deep fried chicken in spicy and sour sauce
4. Bimimbap Hot pot with egg yolk
5. Boiled Pork Belly with oyster Kim-chi and wasabi radish
Also surprisingly the waiters were super on top of their game and also making it easy to ask for more sides and mains, plus they changed the grill after every main was cooked, which is a first time I've experienced in Sydney. Well done. Keep up the great work, can wait to go back and try more.

One of the top Korean spots in the CBD!
My favourite spicy pork in Sydney
Expect a long wait as this place is popular.
No regrets. Couldn't find any faults. $60 each with reasonable amount of alcohol.
Would return with different friends next time.

I really loved the menu we ordered which was the wagyu woosamgyu, samgyupsal, haemul pajeon and the dolsot bibimbap! It was absolutely authentic!! I really loved the bibimbap! We even got a refill of one of the side dishes! ❤ most of the staff were accommodating and friendly! Although it is a bit expensive for me, but it's totally worth it! I'd def come back! ❤
Madang BBQ restaurant in CBD. Nice ambience and friendly staff with good service. Food was nice and generous size and best value of the dishes are the seafood pancake
My wife's favourite Korean restaurant for the charcoal BBQ. The bulgogi is always our go-to dish to order for the BBQ. As is the wagyu beef belly. The meat is so fresh and tasty. And if you can take spicy food, go for the tong ojinguh as well. Price is reasonable and service always quick and easy with your own personal buzzer. Highly recommended if you are a fan of Korean food.
The sides, meat and seafood pancake was nice but felt a bit cheated with the portion sizes. We paid $38 for wagyu slices but was sorely disappointed with a small plate of around 12-15 small pieces, and $20 of pork slice for 7-8pieces. Granted, the sauces are delicious but not sure if worth! Seafood pancake definitely could have had more filling and not just crust, though service was absolutely fantastic and very attentive!!! Go early for a nice experience :)
Awesome K-BBQ spot for a group outing! The pancakes in particular is awesome 👏 . Great variety of meats too which makes it a little bit of a dilemma when choosing. The Kim Chi soup is not bad! The service is efficient and the venue is huuuge, decent and lively. Will come back!
I found this place again 10 years after my last visit to Sydney. Really great bibimbap, bulgogi stew and tofu/crab hotpot. Great, clean strong flavours, good banchan (side dishes) and a queue of customers outside the door. I’ll be back!
I ordered the ttukbaegi bulgolgi and seafood pancakes for lunch. The bulgolgi soup came with a serving of rice. This was quite nice, although, it had a fair amount of onions. The seafood pancake was probably one of the best seafood pancakes I’ve had in a while. The initial serving of side dishes was a bit stingy with only minimal food in each dish. However, when we asked for a refill, they were a bit more generous.
Service was easy with each table having a buzzer on it.
It was my first time in Korean Restaurant. I tried the Kimchi Jjigae Soup and it was lovely👌. The taste was delicious, the meat was tender, I liked the tofu in the soup, very soft. This restaurant is lit🔥🔥 the staff are friendly too😊☺️ very recommended👍.
Great late night spot to satisfy your korean cravings!
Madang had a very warm and welcoming atmosphere with the staff greeting you with enthusiasm as you enter. The quality of the food is great, with myself ordering Yuk Gae Jang (Beef vegetable soup), the beef was soft and tender while capturing the richness of the broth alongside the vegetables.
One of my favorite korean bbq in town. Been here many times. Had the pork belly, kalbi, some other beef and pork and some appetizer to eat. Overall its a great place
One of my favourite places for Korean bbq! Friendly staff and good quality Korean bbq. Their non bbq dishes are yum too! Be prepared to wait during busy hours.
Good Korean fare, what you would expect from a good Korean BBQ, friendly staff, had to wait about 10mins to get a table on a Wednesday night, plenty of food and all reasonably priced. Would definitely go here again, it is in amoungst lots of other Korean restaurants on Pitt St, so lots of choices.
Delicious meat, fresh and marination is full of flavour. Had their yuk gae jang, it was one of the best I have tried. Pancake has crispy outer layer. The only downside is waiting time.
Madang is hidden down an alley way off Pitt st. We were given a ticket to wait for a table and within 15 min we were ushered upstairs. The bbq is a combination of gas and charcoal.
Unlike most KBBQ, the staff did not offered to cook our meat and only changed the plate when it was getting black. The staff also spoke very minimal English.
We ordered the platter for 3-4 between the two of us and it was the perfect amount with good variety.
Overall it was a good meal, it's really hard to get kbbq wrong since it's basically cook your own food.
Good food and service. We did not have to wait too long before our order was served. The place was relatively clean. I’d probably visit this place again if I’m around the area and wanted to have some good Korean meal.
Great prices and an extensive menu keeps Sydney Madang very busy. The atmosphere is loud and bustling. We had KBBQ beef and marinated chicken- tasted great but nothing out of the ordinary. The mandoo was also not bad!
Serving size was good for the price paid. Staff were quite attentive despite being quite busy.
Overall, would come back to try the rest of the menu!
They’ve got good credit for Korean cuisine, no matter bbq or pancakes they tasted delicious. The ox tongue was the legend in their bbq while the spicy chicken was the signature. It would be better if that did not cost so much.
we loved the chicken with cheese on top, the seafood tofu soup, pork stir fried with kimchi and tofu so much ! The traditional hot pot is little bit salty.
Don’t really like the seafood pancake, too much green onions and less seafood
The taste here is absolutely delicious! We ordered two dolsot bibimbaps (one standard, and a cheese one). Both came piping hot and can you can taste the authenticity of the sauces and soups and that they are definitely homemade.
Although in terms of customer service, our greeting at our arrival wasn't the most friendliest but the person that took our order was the most caring and accomodating. As one of our orders had a vegetarian requirement, our server took the time to explain ans go through which item contained meat in them (even the sauce and soup) to ensure the dietary requirement was met.
Nonetheless, Sydney Madang is a highly recommend for authentic Korean cuisine.
Great Korean food here! We got bibimbab (rice, beef and veggies), neng myun (cold noodles) and galbi (short ribs). Great range of side dishes provided. Attentive staff. Slightly expensive compared to other Korean places but worth it for the service and quality of the food.
One of my favorite Korean restaurant, open till late night and serve a tasty tteokbokki. in addition, the staff are friendly and always ready to get whatever you need. you don’t need any other reason to stop by right?
When it comes to Korean BBQ, Sydney Madang is classic. They don’t take reservations and the queue is usually quite long. But you know you’re getting good quality Korean BBQ and delicious side dishes.
Food was absolutely amazing, we also ordered seafood soups but unfortunately didn’t take a photo.
Tasty food, fast customer service and cleanly environment. Staff visited often to help us!
I recommend the:
- marinated bulgogi
- beef brisket
- pork belly
- al tang soup
The only think that can be improved is perhaps the staff can be a bit more welcoming and happy to serve us, nevertheless the food made up for that flaw!
Would come again!
Hello! Hello!? The food here is really fresh and simply prepared. Really appreciate the fact they did’t go so heavily on salt and sugar. Staff is very friendly and food comes fast! Also very good value! Would go back for sure! Xihuahua 🐶 gave me lots of rice! 😤
Oddly enough, I don't come here for the Korean BBQ, but for the lunch specials instead on the weekends. Their servings are usually generous (spicy baby octopus!) and the food is good.
The seafood pancake is the best i have had in Sydney. Goes very well with the sauce they provided. The meat is pretty good too especially the pork belly and beef tongue.
Located in an alleyway away from the streets, this place immediately takes you on a pretty authentic Korean experience. Satisfying comfort food on a late night to avoid next day hangovers
..............................
The bibim bap is just so so, but the Bul Dak is really amazing, the cheese on the top is fantastic.(It’s really really spicy, we’ve drank a whole bottle of water😂)
Ordered a yummy shabu shabu that was very filling. Love the variety of meats, veggies and sides that were given to us. It felt like a very complete meal and service was done in a series rather than all at once which we greatly appreciated. Sat in a quieter corner and was impressed by how big the place is, snakes up a few staircases. Appearance wise the restaurant does look a bit seedy/shabby, especially as you have to go down an alleyway to get to the restaurant front but the quality of the food we received changed my doubts.
This place is always crowded during a dinner time. first time for Korean bbq and I was impressed very tasty and ingredients seemed fresh. Fantastic food and excellent service. love the ambience. Love the location
First time for Korean bbq and I was impressed - bearing in mind I have no point of reference. Very tasty and ingredients seemed fresh. Will be trying more Korean bbq after this, great experience and taste! If you have not tried before, definitely worth a look.
Fantastic food and excellent service.
Love the ambiance. Love the location. I'll visit again when next in Sydney.
The pork chey yook was a hit, great amount of meat.
Madang actually never disappoints. It’s more expensive than other Korean restaurants in the CBD but its worth their food. I’ve been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner at its always been flavourful, welcoming and tasty. Soups and pancakes are my worth-its here, the hotpots and BBQ is a bit expensive without much difference from other places. Nice place to just turn up and drink and eat later at night (though alcohol can be pricey, $15 chum cheurum soju) , but during dinner hours it can get really busy that the wait can be an hour easily, especially for groups.
One of my favourite Korean bbq in Sydney! I’m a huge fan of their seafood pancake which is more crispy than most tradition soft pancakes. Their meats are top quality too. Would recommend !
Madang is a must if you're looking to have Korean BBQ in Sydney. Although it may not be my ultimate favorite Korean BBQ, it is up there. The seafood pancake here is probably one of the best I've had in Sydney.
Slightly expensive but the variety of choices you can get are WORTH IT! What stood out to me about Madang was how FRIENDLY the wait staff were. They were always happy to help and kindly would check up on us and flip our meats and stuff while we were buzzed on soju and neglecting the pieces of pork that had stuck onto the middle of the grill. The meats are pretty standard but their stews and bibimbap were delicious! they are also
One of the few places to sell BANANA MAKGEOLLI - which literally tasted just like banana milk and Calpis. Had a great time here, and I hope you will too ;)
I usually don't go for the marinated meats but the ribs and pork here were banging. Service was as expected; incredibly agile wait staff who had orders barking through their radios at rapid fire Korean. Drinks and orders came through promptly, but the wait staff don't really have the time to cook the meat for you (might want to go to a quieter place if you want this service). Warning- waiting for a table on a Friday night have side effects including: being livid, dying of hunger and bailing, then coming back to find that only four tables have been seated since. Choose wisely what time you come for his establishment...
This is a famous Korean BBQ restaurant on Pitt Street. Oh, actually it's not ON the street, but in a small lane next to it, and you're unlikely to see it unless you intendedly look for it. The restaurant has a lot of tables, but sometimes you do have to wait.
BBQ is overall OK, but not perfect. {Ox tongue} tastes tight, would be better if it is softer. Pork belly is a bit oily.
{Soybean Soup} is a little expensive. I don't like it as the taste is strange for me.
{Soft shell crab} is good at first bite. However if you try more pieces, you'll also find it oily.
{Pancake} is their signature, and could be served together with BBQ.
Service is good. Staff are very friendly. However the deco is old and dark at night.
Waited a long time to be seated, after all it was a Saturday night. No regrets. The steamboat was filling, and the staff as hard as they worked were stl friendly. I
Loved this place . Good place with good food , nice atmosphere and professional staff.Quality ingredients . Little bit noisy but its ok. overall nice place.
Loved this Korean BBQ place. Queue was a bit of a wait despite being a Tuesday night, but it was worth it. The seafood pancake was crispy and had lots of flavour. The meats were marinated and they changed the hot plates regularly. The fried chicken was good, too.
Been to several korean bbq restaurants and usually the sides are meh. But for Madang it isnt. Their soybean soup is also yum!
Didn’t like their pork belly but the marinated beef definitely made up for it. Definitely a must order. We tried the baby octopus but it didnt taste anything (i guess that’s expected)
They’re quick to replace the grill and refill the sides. Will definitely come back when craving korean bbq.
Fried Chicken is amazing, under the good skill of frying and delicious sauce~What I ordered is the sweet and spicy flavor. Highly recommended! (I will suggest it as my favorite fried Korean style chicken in city)
Spicy seafood soup and noodles are under average restaurant level, which are not bad and not excellent as well.
Environment is clean but poor lighting.
Friendly and efficient service. Venue was very Covid aware which was reassuring. Food was very nice but not outstanding. We had the BBQ option. The Wagyu Beef option was the most expensive option, but it was a little bit tough - it seemed to have a low fat content. Not sure if it was really Wagyu or not? Some options for mixed platters of beef, pork, chicken and seafood together would be a nice addition. Decent value for the price paid.
Nice and authentic Korean restaurant with gas/charcoal grills. You have around 20 different meats to choose from for the grill, partially marinated and partially raw. The waiters are nice, fill up the side dishes on request, and also frequently change the grill plates on which you put the meat on. You also have Korean beer and 2 Soju to choose from as well. Would recommend visiting.

We sit around the Korean BBQ’s complete with a few sides and try some starters including the crispy seafood pancake, pork and kimchi pancake and our favourite- the raw beef salad topped with an egg yolk. Refreshing and super tasty. This is something I'd definitely order again.
The BBQ then heats up and we cook our meats. The tender wagyu, sliced pork belly, to beef rib and saucy bulgogi, we cooked it to our preference. The meat is nicely seasoned and of a high quality. I think we possibly ate our body weight in protein.
Although it is a Korean BBQ, they’re also known for their mains, we try Bibimbap, grilled eel, Deep fried chicken in spicy sauce, Seafood and rice cakes topped with cheese for that perfect cheese pull, as well as some boiled pork belly with shredded radish and oyster. The menu is extensive so there's plenty to keep your bellies satisfied.
Staff here are super friendly, welcoming and work hard to please and change our grill tops regularly. They definately provide good service.
A great restaurant which has a fun, casual vibe and a venue where you can enjoy some quality Korean BBQ and perfect for a catch up with friends
The first Korean restaurant I went when I started work in Sydney 2012.
Ever since than I will drop by once a while for a meal or two with my friends and colleagues after work or after booze hour as they open till past midnight.
Food is really good missus loves their spicy pork especially, but a year or two back the dishes seems to shrinks. Cutting cost maybe but still we keep on visiting as the atmosphere and ambience is cool and friendly and service is fast and efficient too.
Pressing the bell on the side of table for ordering or service. Staff will always repeat your order to final confirm. All the floor staff are Korean, even the manager but simple English is no problem to them. If they can’t answer your questions, they would ask the manager or senior to attend your table so there is nothing to worry bout the orders got wrong.
It’s very busy every time and sometimes we have to wait for half an hour + to get a table for 2 only but the place is really good, consider on the fast pace and non-stop customers coming in and out.
You wouldn’t regret to dine in here for sure, I’ve been around for 6 years in madang and still can’t get enough of it. Had my pre 40th birthday dinner and drinks last year there too.
